Carlos & Mickey's El Paso Reviews
The food and service were amazing. The only annoying part was the music in the bar area was very loud which made talking with my sister across the table a little difficult
food was great. friendly staff, clean tables and floor, fresh food. served complimentary tortilla chips. i tried the chicken quesadila, had the perfect texture, generous amount of chicken. guac and sour cream on the side. would highly recommend.
It was our first time here! We happened to be on that side of town and thought we’d try a restaurant new to us. We waited a bit before getting a table for 3, but it gave us time to check out the decor. It was much bigger than we anticipated and had lots of rooms. Bathrooms were a bit far to get to from where we were sitting, but understandable since it was so big. We were checked on frequently by our servers and the food was good. I liked the albondiga soup I got and the fajitas and gorditas we got were good too.
The Texas Margarita is a very large size and excellent for me as I was not driving. The Daiquiris were great as well. The chicken fajita nachos were superb. The chicken is cooked so well with amazing flavor. Always a great time here! A+++ Service
You can't live in EP and not know about this legendary restaurant. My family and I have been visiting Carlos and Mikeys since I was a Lil one myself. The atmosphere is so welcoming and cool, (I feel like im eating at the Riverwalk in San anotonio) The margaritas... they are not for the faint of heart ha they are strong! And sooooo delicious!! They couldn't pay me to stay away, this will always be a favorite restaurant of mine
This was a really good restaurant. We waited for 45+ minutes, but that was partly our fault for not checking. However, they did tell us it would be a 30 minute wait but it ended up being longer. That was okay though because it was a minor inconvenience. The food was spectacular, and any pork dish would be amazing. The service was also top notch, with our waiter checking on us regularly but not constantly, and everyone being incredibly kind. The atmosphere was also amazing. There was live music and the seats, lighting, and lobby area were all comfortable. Keep in mind that they don't take Apple/Google pay and only accept a physical credit card. Overall, it was a great dinner.
We went to celebrate my daughter graduating from UTEP. The service was peak and the pomegranate margaritas on the rocks were amazing. 😍 I took mine above the house tequila and added Patrón. 👍🏽I ordered chicken flautas, beans and rice. The rice! Better than any rice I've had when it is added to en entré. Most rice is run of the mill but this was way more flavorful. I highly recommend this place. If I'm ever in El Paso again I will be sure to stop here for my Mexican food fix.
A wider menu than Tex-Mex. Pork carnitas were a signature dish and excellent- flour tortillas fluffy and soft. The tamal had very tasty masa and a rich smoky red sauce. It's a busy, kind of loud place. They have live music but we were there early so it was all recorded - still loud enough but even for me generally not liking loud places - I wasn't bothered by it. Staff was attentive and more than one came by to ask how things were etc. The margarita was good- I settled for the mid range "El Paso" versus the 42 ounce "Texas sized" one. Funky decor lots of alcoves with large tables - looks like it's a popular spot for celebrations.
Great experience for lunch today. Food was fantastic, atmosphere fun, and service excellent. Our server was Narda and she was on her "A" game for sure, while making us feel so welcomed. Big shout out to Helen and Nacho (bartender). ALL GREAT PEOPLE!!! We will most definitely be back and highly recommend!!!
Both my fiancee and I had the pork carnitas that were on special. The plate came with white rice and a small serving as you can see if borracho beans and two salad, one avocado and a red salsa that was 🔥 for $9.99. It was delicious and filling. Oh and of course a margarita! It was an enjoyable afternoon with friends.
There was definitely something sweet going on here, on every type of sYde; all I can say is I appreciate the greatness and the service(as I sat down with a pack of Doritos Saracha golden bag of chips sitting on the left seat 💺…than the right) And that’s hindsight . . . (Kathy “Bates” was playing on the TV; water boy!)
I almost made the mistake of skipping this place this trip. The wife and I both think it was well worth the stop. Thankfully it wasn’t too busy. I’ve been here in the past where there was a long wait and it was difficult to find parking. We both got crab relleno. I can’t remember the dessert we got but it’s in the pictures. All of it was really good. We highly recommend it!
Had lunch here on a Sunday and beat the rush. Daniel did a good job providing service. He did mess up our order a couple of times but i think he knew us better than we knew ourselves. The margaritas have multiple sizes. The Texas size is huge and be prepared to either share or be your only drink. I had the Steak Ranchero and it was basically skirt steak smothered with cheeses and bell peppers. Very good! Make sure you go here with an appetite. The food came out fast and was super hot. Definitely recommend if you are in town for a short visit.
We had an amazing dinner at Carlos and Mickey's! The food was extremely good and the service was impeccable. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed during our stay. I couldn't decide what to get, so selected the Mexico combo platter. I was impressed with the quality of the food and loved how the flavors worked together. Others at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meals and drinks, including pomegranate and lime margaritas. I strongly recommend adding Carlos and Mickey's to your list when in El Paso!
Good food, good service, good atmosphere, and a nice fun crowd. We started at the bar and had a great time watching the games and meeting new friends. The bartenders were outstanding and knowledgeable and not afraid to make any drink to your liking. Definitely a fun place to hang out and have a good time. It’s also a good place to bring your family and friends and enjoy a night out! The steak fajitas were very good, although the steak could’ve been a little more tender and less chewy. But overall, it was well seasoned and well worth the price. The handmade top shelf margaritas are definitely outstanding and if you get the large glass, be prepared because it’s really BIG!!! Definitely a must try any day of the week!
All the way down just right next to the border, this is a good place to enjoy some Mexican style food. I'm in no way an expert on judging the authenticity, but I can surely say it tasted good to me. The place definitely has a nice vibe and is great for celebrating something special. The place was nicely decorated as well. Felt like in a party. The place was crowded and we had to wait a bit. But it was well worth it. The staff was nice and quick to serve food.
We had a birthday celebration for my mom with a group of 30 people. I was so impressed with the service. The food was authentic and delicious! They also served me the best margarita I ever had.

The food was amazing! The service was excellent and the ambiance was even better.\nYou HAVE to order flan for dessert! A must stop while in El Paso!
The bacon wrapped shrimp is fantastic! Many Mexican restaurants serve chips and salsa while the customer waits for the meal, bug I have never seen a restaurant serve corn chips as large as these.

Although the atmosphere and service was amazing, the food was the greatest in my opinion. I had 2 bacon wrapped shrimp and that was average. For meal I ordered the fried shrimp platter and the shrimp nor the breading had any flavor. I think it may be due to being used Skrimp Shack on east coast that has the best fried shrimp. Salsa was too spicy for me but tasty and probably just fine for everyone else so I definitely don’t fault them on that. My husband said his food was fine. Service was amazing! The place is so beautiful and just for that we may be back to bring family or friends here.
Very nice place and good atmosphere. Very othentic. As for food, not really special. Tasty, yes...but not more...
Lovely looking restaurant, staff very friendly giving lots of free nachos and fresh salsa and drink top ups. Food could be better.. rice was quite plain but given they had to feed many many people not surprising, well priced, some plates had weird garnish like slices of orange, baked potato was still a bit hard, tortilla breads were good, nothing was completely stand out but im sure there are better things on the menu and margaritas looked really nice but I never got a chance to try. Overall a lovely restaurant and the food was good but room for improvement, although some of the best salsa I've ever had!
We came here for Christmas season...they had a beautiful tree gigantic!!! The decor is mostly mexican but someone there must love rosters lol. It was warm but it needs a lil face-lift. The booths cushion seating are a bit old. The deco theme is i dont know? They have a mixture of Mexican, Western, angels, decorative plates hanging all thrown together. The food was great they also had a great trio playing and they were fabulous. The service great too. They have another location also good but esthetically they look lots better. The original restaurant show invest in making it a 🤏🤏more updated. Its the original... I grew up coming here. 👌🏽👌🏽🌹🌹💯💯
“This is a great spot for anyone who has never been to an authentic Mexican restaurant. The drinks were very good, and the food was enjoyable. However, the service was lacking and definitely needs improvement. Overall, worth a visit for the food and drinks, but the service could be better.”
Decent place. Spacious, large and loud. They had live music, it’s nice and also loud. Food overall was decent, not particularly special. Good Mexican food, can find elsewhere too. We enjoyed our meal. Chips were large, I prefer the tortilla chips in small sizes. The walls had very interesting pictures. Enjoyed looking at all the different ones! Downside, they don’t serve sweet tea or homemade lemonade. Overall, decent Mexican food. We’ll try other stuff when in town again.

Sat and ate at the bar, got very fast and quality service. Food is more Tex Mex than Mexican but still tasty and good portions. Definitely a fun restaurant.

Good Mexican restaurant with standard dishes, normal prices, and friendly waiters. Quite a nice decor inside.
Atmosphere was great! Food was decent, the chips were huge! The salsa was spicy and had an after taste of dishwashing soap. I got a chicken quesadilla and they were stingy on the chicken and cheese, it was mostly tortilla. Other than that it was good. Chicken was seasoned well.
We went to Los Bandidos de Carlos & Mickey’s for a retirement celebration dinner. Overall, the experience was okay. The food was average — I’d rate it a 5 out of 10. I ordered the steak and shrimp fajitas, which were served with onions and green peppers, along with sides of beans, guacamole in a tostada bowl, and four tortillas. Despite the portions, the dish still felt a bit plain. My husband ordered the Revolution Plate, which includes a chile relleno, chicken taco, red enchilada, carnitas, beans, and rice. While the variety was nice, it didn’t really stand out. Our waiter rarely checked in on us, which was disappointing, especially for a special occasion. The atmosphere was fine, but the service and food didn’t fully meet our expectations.

Worst service ever. So we arrived at the restaurant during lunch hour. The place wasn't too busy. We were seated right away. We ordered our food. An hour later, we got our food. I had ordered steamed fish. I got fried fish. My husband ordered vegetable soup. Instead, he got potato soup because that's mostly what was served to him. The food was cold. Our server spent most of her time talking to her co-workers, watching videos on her phone, and laughing. I know this because: 1) we could watch her from our table, and 2) because when we approached her to ask her for the ticket, that's exactly what she was doing. On top of that, she got upset because we had to go to her to ask for the ticket. I would post her name, but my ticket reads "banquet 2" instead of her name. I would not recommend the restaurant based on this experience.
This place has been around FOREVER. It’s the place people bring “out-of-town” guests & where people who come to El Paso (and don’t know any better) go for “Mexican” food. But the food is MARGINAL (at best) as is the service. NO CONSISTENCY - so if you like to gamble with your money & time, this is the place. On a Tuesday, my husband and I wanted crunchy tacos & we thought we’d give this place a shot (again). It was happy hour, but we were seated in the dining area. We both ordered 2 REGULAR margaritas with our taco plates. The food was disappointing as were the margaritas. But the kicker was the bill!!! We weren’t charged a Happy Hour price for our margaritas, we were charged $9 and the manager ARGUED with us on the price of two margaritas! Now THAT’S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
Los Bandidos De Carlos & Mickey’s is always a solid choice! The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out hot and fast. The portions were generous and everything tasted authentic and well-seasoned. The service really stood out, friendly, attentive, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. You can tell they care about their customers and making sure everyone has a great experience. The atmosphere was lively and comfortable, perfect for family dinners or getting together with friends. Overall, great food, great service, and great vibes. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to!
Visited Carlos and Mickys for a late lunch. Our Server "Azaley" was extremely rude and not attentive. She seemed bothered to serve us. My mother asked for a frozen Margarita and she brought it in the rocks and didn't even apoligize. I asked for a rum and coke that she never brought and again, no apology. The food was below average and was served with canned beans. If you visit this restaurant and "Azaley" is your server, Id ask for a different one. I did speak to the Manager to express my concerns but he also seemed very non chalant. Id skip this restaurant all together and opt for a true local authentic Mexican restaurant.
I took my wife, for our anniversary out to enjoy and celebrate our life together, kids are grown, grand kids did come over, we snuck away, to share some time alone. To have a bit of dinner, in a beautiful place, good people. Good atmosphere, very kind waiters and staff, very clean. The food arrived, the Shimmy changas, chicken, where dry, the flower tortilla it came in, was so rougth at the bottom, it hurt my teeth, the beans where so old, they where chewy, the rice and drinks where good, serves very good. My wife enchiladas, cheese was burnt, same with her beans and rice. I found this very disappointing for me and my wife. I still left a good tip to my waiter, because he was very nice and kind to us on our visit. The cook, should taste some of his or her food, before sending it out. Because, this was realy bad food. I will never return to this establishment.
