Yama Restaurant West Lebanon Reviews
Flavorful and authentic Korean food. We got Soondobu (tofu stew), kimchi jeon (pancake), and veggie tempura. Delicious food and sweet staff. Thank you for the amazing meal!
It's been a while since every single thing I've gotten at a restaurant has been absolutely delicious, and that's what I got at Yama's! I was recommended the Yukyejang and it was amazing, I want to eat it every day. My husband got the Bulgoki and there was so much flavor, delicious. We also got banchan, both the korean cucumbers and sesame broccoli were so tasty and refreshing. Husband also ordered the Lebanon roll and he loved it. I've been wanting to try this place for so long and we will definitely be going back. One of the best meals in a long time, can't wait to try more!
Sushi was slaaaaaapin and the employees were so kind. Highly recommend the TNT roll!
Best sushi and Korean food in the area! Friendly owners and staff, we ordered takeout during the pandemic and recently have enjoyed dining in. Kimchi chigae, beef and pork bulgogi, teriyaki salmon, bibimbap... So many tasty dishes!
I used to be a regular before COVID and they switched to take out only. I recently learned that you can order at the counter and they will bring your food to a table. Sort of a semi take out/dine in place. No real table service but almost. Most importantly, everything is served in real dishes and bowls. No plastic take out containers. Their food continues to be amazing and the limited table service was fast and super courteous. I need to be a regular again.
Excellent food and friendly service. You order at the front and they bring your food to your table. Will return when I'm in the area again.
My family and I make a trip up twice a month to visit here. It has easily become our favorite spot to eat. The staff here have been very kind the many times we have visited. They have outstanding service, amazing food with a relaxed atmosphere. The kimchi-jjigae is my go-to ; although everything in the menu is wonderful. Their sushi is also top notch.
Tucked out of the way of the main street, this gem of a restaurant is bursting with flavor and gentle ambiance. Food is ordered at a counter then brought to your table. I had miso soup, pickled spicy cucumbers, and amazing fried tofu with bonito shavings. All for $11, and I was the only one here for most of the time. Definitely a place I will visit again and again!
Great place! I use to visit pre-COVID and now they are back open with limited dine in service (you order at the cashier station and they will bring out food to your table). All of their food is just as good as I'd remember and the only place you can Korean cuisine for miles. The owners and front person are super nice. The place was clean and the proportions (and flavor) are worth the price. They also take allergies seriously which I appreciated! If you like Korean food and sushi you shouldn't be disappointed. Just remember to get some Banchan (side vegetables) as they no longer serve all the side dishes with your meal since COVID so you have to specify.
Don’t know why we waited so long to come here but I’m glad we finally did! The Green Monster: fresh & yummy. I get why people recommend this restaurant for their sushi. Jjamppong: perfect for the rainy weather & had a nice deep flavor. Tangsooyuk: yummy & I was surprised how crispy + juicy the pork was Staff are very friendly and warm. Has a cute and cozy vibe inside. Definitely will be added to our rotation of regular restaurants 🫶🏼
Cute little family-run restaurant in the Upper Valley with good food. They don't offer dine-in, but the take out is pretty good. Ordered the pork bulgoki and bibimbap and was pretty satisfied. Price was slightly on the higher side (~$35 for 2 people). They offered free candy for valentine's day, which I thought was pretty cute. PS: I ordered on the phone and they gave me a wait time of 1h. I don't know if that was due to v-day rush, or if that's the usual scene. But the ordering part itself was pretty hassle free. PPS: excellent covid safety protocols.
The place was crowded, but we were seated immediately. The staff was friendly. The sushi was fresh and the food came out fast. The specials at the end of the menu are delicious, and the quality of meat is really good. Scallion pancake appetizer is also delicious. This place is really good, especially compared to the already good Sushiya. I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for an authentic, delicious Korean meal!
Comfort food is the best way to describe Yama. Every dish will leave you beyond satisfied, but still wanting to try more. The atmosphere is exactly what I desire for a quick bit or a take-out style restaurant. But it does smell a little like mothballs. And having the ordering at the counter to have your food brought to the table is pleasant. And as accommodating as the staff is, I would not take someone here with the intentions of assuming a waiter will be at your table. Brings me back to the 90s of finished basement dwellings while playing nintendo with friends and mom brought home basically the entire menu because you cant go wrong.
Yum! I had the tropical roll, the sweet potato roll and a salmon roll with mango. While it took a wee bit longer than I expected, it was very fast considering there were other orders before me. (I forgot they were doing other orders which is why it was longer than expected. I mention this because when you walk in, it's quiet and most orders appear to be to go orders. So, just be patient. They are very fast considering.) The rolls were delicious! I loved each bite and I am so glad I came, sat down and ate here. This little mom-and-pop place is perfect. My rolls were simple, but the rolls coming out for others, the more extravagant rolls, they were gorgeous and HUGE. Beautiful in fact. I also ordered miso soup and pajun. Delicious, perfect amount and I left comfortably full. How things work. You come in, order and pay, and then you sit to eat or grab it to go. The staff are friendly and efficient. Oh and don't forget your drinks in the fridge. They have same drinks I would get out of the vending machines in Japan. It was nice to remember. Overall, I am very happy I found this little place. Next time I make the 3.5h round trip drive out, I am definitely stopping in again! Thank you so much for your hospitality and delicious food!
We were on our way home from Jay Peak and need lunch. Google map gave us several options including Yama. With scores above four points, we decided to give it a try. It reached our expectation. The restaurant was clean, neat and well managed. An old gentleman led us in and we ordered the food with a lady's help. We liked the appetizers, different pickled vegetables. My sons ordered sushis, my husband ordered rice and a dish while I ordered a lunch box with fried tofu, salad and rice. All were neatly presented. My husband said his dish was on the sweet side. My tofu too. Other than that, everything was fine. The dessert, an orange was presented in a cute way. It was a peaceful and delightful experience for us. Not a feeling of rushing by. I would stop by again during my ski trips.
It certainly stand out as a great value with any of their lunch specials. It is a nice option for a quick takeout or dine in option either for lunch or dinner. The place is small and unassuming but the food seems good at a first take out. I would rate their miso soup a 4/5 but with the Korean on-the-house appetizer, small salad, white rice and a dumpling and two maki pieces to top the main dish the lunch box special is a great deal!
Came here because we were in the area and it had very good reviews. It’s a small place with slow but friendly service. Vegetable dumplings were ok. Yaki soba and yaki udon were not good. They both came swimming in a watery, very sweet sauce. Had to add soy sauce to try and balance how sweet the sauce was. The shrimp in the noodles seemed to be previously cooked frozen shrimp, and were flavorless — not worth the $3 additional charge. Maybe the sushi is better, since that’s what the higher reviews seemed to be getting, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back to try it.
Used to be my favorite for sushi locally. really went down hill after the shutdowns of 2020. Last several times I've tried it, I couldn't eat it and we all threw our takeout in the trash and went elsewhere. And I generally am not picky and eat about anything. Very sad.
This is the first time I've been back there since Covid and it apparently changed ownership (?). The vibe is completely different, unfortunately it's not what it used to be. I got the yama roll and the soft shell crab roll. Also, side of seaweed salad. The sushi rolls & seaweed were OK, not the worst I've ever had. The set up is odd, the interior is dark and dingy. No bathroom. Place needs an interior update and better sushi. Not sure that I would go back again. I miss the original Yama :(
