We were four people there on Saturday the 11th. The place isn't new to me, so we were on a safe bet. They had everything booked and they put us at a high table, but it was very nice. The menu included two starters, a side of rice, and dessert. Everything was delicious. 100% recommended. The wine was a little more expensive, but it was good value.
Tapería El Barrio de Montse in Albacete is more than just a place for tapas; it's an immersive experience that combines eclectic and nostalgic decor with quality La Mancha and Mediterranean cuisine. The Atmosphere and Decor From the moment you walk in, the place transports you to a space full of personality. The vibrant orange walls are filled with old photographs, paintings, vintage objects, and posters, creating a warm and homey atmosphere, almost like a collector's living room. Retro and Original Touches: Of note are the glass cabinet full of bottles, cocktail shakers, and an original table with a base decorated with cassette tapes and a record player (or a typewriter, depending on your perspective), a clear nod to the nostalgia of bygone decades. Cozy Dining Room: The table area, with paper tablecloths imitating newspapers, adds a casual touch to the experience. It's a place where modern and traditional meet in a unique way. The Gastronomic Experience The real star is the kitchen, with Montse (the owner and cook, according to reviews) at the helm, offering tapas and small plates that are a true delight. The photos show traditional tapas dishes with a thoughtful presentation: Torreznos and Padrón Peppers: A hearty and delicious dish, with strips of crispy, well-salted bacon and Padrón peppers, a classic that never fails. Grilled or Fried Pig's Ear: This dish, with the ears cut into strips, served over potatoes and accompanied by peppers and lemon, is an example of traditional casquería, flavorful and perfectly crispy. (The menu also mentions "Ear chops with potatoes and Padrón peppers.") Fried Cheese: Fried cheese cubes, golden and crispy on the outside and melting on the inside, with a light violet caramel, are a very popular and well-executed sweet and savory tapa. The specialty is creative La Mancha and Mediterranean cuisine, with generous, high-quality tapas at affordable prices. Conclusion Tapería El Barrio de Montse is a must-visit in Albacete if you're looking for an authentic experience. It's ideal for those who enjoy a characterful atmosphere and traditional tapas dishes prepared with care. A family gem where good food and friendly service blend with a decor that invites you to linger and relive the nostalgia. Recommended for: Lovers of traditional tapas, groups of friends, and anyone looking for a place with a lot of personality in Albacete.
We had the great fortune to choose this lovely restaurant for our evening meal. We went all tapas and from the first to the last, they were amazing. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. It’s family run, a husband and wife. Montse is the wife and she does the cooking. Her tapas are fantastic and her desserts or postres are sinfully delicious. Very reasonably priced. Central location. Don’t miss an opportunity for a gastronomic experience.
Fantastic atmosphere and service. The food was spectacular. The croquettes were made with pork rinds, and I loved them, but what I liked most was the secret, incredible. But we had some leftover, so we took it home. That night I heated it up, and it tasted fresh again. And of course, the desserts were incredible too. Monste has magic in the kitchen. I definitely want to come back many times.
We went for the set lunch menu. We've been there before, but they've changed it; now it's starters followed by rice. Everything was delicious, and the staff was very attentive. The price/quality ratio is very reasonable, and it was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. Their service and attention deserve to be recognized. 100% recommended.
From Valencia, I made a reservation for dinner last Friday night with colleagues who were coming from all over Spain for a training program, and the choice couldn't have been better. From the service, to the decor, to the food, it was a complete success. I shared dishes with a vegetarian colleague who hadn't eaten this well in a tapas place for a long time. The churros-style potatoes were wonderful. The mushroom crepe was delicious. The breaded eggplant was excellent. And the portions were generous, leaving us more than satisfied. We tried to go back on Sunday, but since it was that day and we didn't have a reservation, we were left wanting more. I'll mark it as a favorite to go back and recommend it when I return.
Fantastic! We found ourselves right in the center of Albacete, at the Tapería del Barrio. We were lucky because we didn't have a reservation. We had a fantastic meal: Tuna Tataki, Prawns with Egg, and Panettone and Crab Claws. Everything was delicious, and the service was exquisite. Highly recommended.
Friendly and professional service. A varied yet tasty menu. The presentation and products are top-notch. Delicious and plentiful rice dishes. Exquisite meats and local produce. Spectacular desserts. Reasonable prices. Unbeatable atmosphere. We'll definitely be back as often as we need to. The staff is a 10/10.
Great food and service.
Good food, attentive waiter, and good value for money. The dining room isn't overly large, but it's comfortable and welcoming. Our first experience was with a daily set menu for 10 euros, which was very well thought out: an individual salad starter, a first and second course, and dessert with coffee. We had spaghetti with mushroom sauce, roasted apples with chicken, and beer cake, along with a 50cl bottle of 22 brand water. Everything was delicious. We'll be back. The place was clean, including the restrooms. On our second visit, this time for a birthday, we had a vegan guest who was very attentively catered for, as the restaurant is known for catering to vegan menus. Just ask beforehand. Again, the service, attention to detail, quality, and price were excellent. The waiters and owners were particularly attentive. A top-notch restaurant in Albacete. Highly recommended.

Spacious restaurant with several tables spread across different areas. The decor is very tasteful. The service was very friendly and fast, attentive at all times. The portions were generous, beautifully presented, and more than enough. All the food was spectacular; everything was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful.
My partner and I went for dinner. For €40, we stuffed ourselves. We ordered pork knuckle croquettes (huge and flavorful), fried cheese with peta zetas (perhaps our weakest dish), blood sausage delights with tomato jam (very good and original), grilled forro (served with a pile of potatoes), and a shrimp taco with mango and curry (delicious). The cañas rubias and toast were also delicious. Hearty dishes, rich flavors, and the service was very fast and attentive. They offered us a glass of cream before paying the bill. A great experience for us. Congratulations on your work. Best regards.
We were planning to eat somewhere in the city center. On the way, we passed this place, which advertised a pretty great set menu for a low price. The sign said: set menu for 6 euros. We saw the dishes and decided to go in, although we were a little skeptical. We were pleasantly surprised; the service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the place was spectacular. We'll definitely be back. It's worth mentioning that the set menu includes everything except drinks, but that's hardly a problem considering the quality and value.
