Opiniones de Sanfords Astoria
I love coming here! This place is very different from many of the places is Astoria. Yiu get two different feels to the places. One were the booths and tables are and the other by the massive whiskey bar. When I sit by the bar I feel like I'm having drinks in the city. As a whiskey lover their selection is great, you can get to try all different types for reasonable prices. I also like the food and cocktails. I've had many things on their menu from the mac and cheese, short rib tacos (great), burgers, pasta/ravioli dishes, most of the apps and brunch menu. I haven't been disappointed yet.
This is easily my favorite spot in Astoria, as both a bourbon lover and foodie. I have been here a few times (socially + for work) and everyone I have taken here has left incredibly impressed and constantly asks when we are returning. From the fish tacos to the incredibly large salad that we shared as an app (and still had leftovers from), you will not leave hungry. The cocktail list is one of the largest, and most creative I have seen and the single barrel bourbon options are nice to see (see photo). If you're looking for what is truly one of the best bars with great cuisine, I beg you to venture here. You won't regret it.
Sanfords was the best brunch place I went in to so far in Queens. It is dimly lit so if you like a lot of light and vibrant atmosphere, then this is not the place for you. Their green tea was organic and natural- one of my favorites. The food was impeccable❤️ great spot for vegetarians and meat eaters 🙏🏼
Get.... the .... steak! Bone in ribeye steak! You're welcome lol. Forget about your wallet, the deliciousness of the steak will numb the pain 😂 the music selection was great and the drinks were balanced between the alcohol, mixers and ice. Definitely would recommend! Make your reservations today!
This place was great. My friend and I came here for a quick bite and the food and drinks were delicious. The customer service was also really great, the staff was very friendly and our waiter gave us some good recommendations. I found this place to be a good spot when you just wanna grab a couple drinks after work. It was overall a really great vybe.
I’ve been to this place a few times and the food is usually good, but today was my first time dining in. It’s a lot bigger than I thought from outside and it’s very nice. I went for brunch but looks like a nice date night spot also. The food wasn’t and came in a decent amount of time but my husband didn’t really care for the peanut butter pancakes. The wait staff was really nice and attentive. Would definitely recommend. ☺️
There's 2 things amazing about this place... the food and an absolutely beautiful hostess! I'd strongly suggest reservations at this place. We did a walk-in for the 7 of us and we had to wait over 1 hour 10 mins. Service was quick and our waiter was in a super hurry, so much so, that people eventually placed their orders under tremendous pressure! They have this drinks special for brunch, you get 2 drinks for $10. Drinks are okay, and what stands out is the food! I got the Duck Burger, which was not that great, but had an amazing flavor. It was a bit dry (wonder if it was the Gouda), but their Mexican entrees were just amazing! Will definitely visit again for the 2 reasons I mentioned ;-)!
Came in for brunch. Food was great! Loved the ambiance. The lighting made the setting romantic and the music matched the atmosphere very well. We ordered the Steak Skillet along with the Chorizo Skillet. The steak was well cooked and seasoned. It was served with hash, vegetables, and two eggs with the amount of steak outnumbering the other ingredients. The Chorizo was complimented with two well done eggs, an avocado spread, and a side salad. Overall it was a good meal for brunch and I recommend coming here.
I took my wife on a date here and we had a great experience! It's very simple to get to, literally 1 block from the train station. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed, and the staff were friendly and attentive as well. I never felt like I was waiting more then I needed to. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the blackened steak and it was cooked to perfection! There is a wide selection of food and it's all excellent quality. The alcohol selection is extensive as well and is high quality as well. Im defintely coming back here
I have to stop by every time when I was in Astoria. If I was right, they have the happy hours not for drinks but Oyster as well. My go-to dish always seafoods risotto !!! This was a paradise in my mouth, portion was so huge! Very fresh, very yummy! The price point is so friendly compare to portion and qualities.
Large restaurant with a few spaces. We got a booth- love the booth! I have to say the food here is really good. Huge servings of calamari, butternut squash ravioli and chicken Caesar salad. You will not be disappointed here.
I enjoyed the vegetable paella which can be made vegan upon request. The warm blend of vegetables provided a good contrast and a variety of flavors. I would recommend complementing the dish with a side of sweet potato fries. Note for vegans: the sweet potato fries is cooked in the same oil as nonvegan foods.
Great food, catchy music and lovely ambiance. This place had every comfort you want and fantastic service as the cherry on top! My waiter recommended the seafood risotto and it was sooo filling and flavourful packed with octopus, clams and shrimp. The prices are well deserved for the delicious food. All meals come with soup or salad. I got the orzo soup and it’s was the perfect cup for a cold day.
Came for brunch with a reservation on a weekend, we were sat right away and service was attentive. Had the rigatoni vodka with chicken and the Eggs Benedict. Also had the burrata - all the food was really good. Wasn’t crazy about the Bloody Mary, but overall enjoyed everything and would definitely be back.
I came for breakfast giving the staff every reason not to serve us well. I brought my 9 month old daughter and 3 year old nephew to enjoy a nice breakfast. This is some of the most incredible staff I have ever seen. I don’t believe I could have had better service if I were royalty. Thank you Miguel and Cheanne. The food was great, the atmosphere was very enjoyable, but the attentiveness and service of the staff made this one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The owner of this establishment should be extremely proud. I do not hesitate in saying this is one of the nicest casual restaurants in all of queens, possibly all of New York.
Sanford's has a great date night vibe, whisky drinking crowd or happy hour specials. For those seeking a nicer but still casual place to have dinner with friends, this is the place to be. The menu is filled with a variety of seafood, vegetables and meat options. Something for everyone. Specials daily, full bar, Happy Hour on drinks and oysters. It's dining room is dimly lit and often busy. Reservations suggested.
The establishment offers exceptional customer service and a diverse menu of delicious food. While parking availability in the vicinity, including paid options, presents a challenge, the location's proximity to the subway station provides convenient access. I confidently recommend this establishment.
I have been to Sanford's at least half a dozen times, and have yet to be disappointed. The food is always good, the service is great, and the overall atmosphere and decor takes you from brunch to dinner and late night seamlessly. My only critique would be that they did away with the half dozen oysters with a half bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut brunch special; but since I still come back clearly not a deal breaker. Definitely an Astoria gem. Come see for yourself.
I always love coming here! I love the interior design, especially at the bar. The food is always good and they have a good menu for brunch, lunch and dinner. The food is always good and the portions are generous. It’s a good place to go for a special occasion, business meeting or a date night option. My favorite for lunch/dinner is the yellow fin tuna sliced in salad!
Best happy hour spot in Astoria. Fresh oysters at an unbeatable price, fantastic wine selection, friendly customer service all in a comfortable setting. The rest of the menu has some tried&true classics such as French onion soup, truffle Mac n cheese and pork w. Polenta. Drop by at any time and I’m sure you’ll keep coming back.
I met up with friends I hadn't seen in months for brunch. Great food. My dish was delicious however the duck on my plate of duck confit and waffles was small and not a proper confit. It was just two drumsticks that were more like fried chicken (it was hard to decipher whether it was duck or chicken as it was cooked very well done). I was expecting shredded meat and a more generous portion. I'd be fine with a higher price point for duck and more on the plate to balance out the waffle and plantains. Just a note as someone who's been industry for years. Otherwise, my cocktail was great and I was happy with my slice of cheesecake for dessert. My friends enjoyed their food as well. I'll definitely be back again to give it another chance.
I had a beautiful brunch experience in Sanfords. The food was amazing, the burger I had was juicy, and full of flavor. The portion was more than I could ask for. The sanfords wrap were great as advertised with fresh feel to all the ingredients. I definitely recommend anyone who is looking for an easy experience with their loved ones and delicious foods.
Amazing bar...more like a bourbon bar! Food was prepared perfect and service the same. A little gem on a busy avenue.
I went to Sanfords for the first time and wondered why I hadn't been there sooner. The menu has a nice variety of options ranging from pasta dishes to tacos. I ordered the mussels and was pleasantly surprised by the portion size and the delicious broth. My friend ordered the steak sandwich and loved it. We shared the cheesecake dessert and it was a nice way to end our meal, sweet but not heavy. The real star of our night was Allie, she was our server and bartender and offered a flawless experience (answering questions about the menu, making recs, checking in etc.). While my friend an I enjoyed our meals, it wasn't until we got to chatting with Allie that we said to one another, "we've got to come back!"
Just a quick shout out to Sanfords for hosting our large party on Saturday, November 22, 2025! We were celebrating a wedding and trying to keep the cozy vibes going! We had everyone from Great Grandpa to great grand girl, and guests from Chile, California, Ohio and NY! Everyone loved their food, beverages, and the gal who was in charge of our long table! Thank you for making our memories special!!
Sanford's had a great modern industrial vibe. While still being warm and cozy, and the food is simply delicious. My honorable mention is the Lavender Limeade, the best cocktail I have had in a long time. Their menu had a great variety of options, and the service was great. Overall, my family had a fantastic experience at Sanford's, and I would definitely visit again.
Bro what?! You slept in and missed breakfast?? Its OK trice up and step out for Sanfords Brunch! It aint the cheapest, but we all know you get what you pay for! Check out the menu for a smorgasbord of delectable entrees and apps that will feel that belly and get you back on pace to make it a great day. Thirsty? Grab a screwdriver or an Irish coffee. Feel like getting white girl wasted? Grab a mimosa or whatever. Its better than the Fuzzy Navel you were gonna grab from chevron later. Either way, this place is sure to put your craving to rest. Don't forget to tip your server, they didn't ask you to sleep in or be broke. Peace and blessings!
Great spot near the N W train. Feels fancy. But good breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pork rib tacos were great, ahi tuna appetizer. Not a cheap place but the food was all very good. The wait staff take your dishes away a little too quick. But that’s a small thing. Still a great place, coming back.
Sanford’s in Astoria is one of those spots that hasn’t changed over the years—and that’s part of its charm. The atmosphere is still cozy, the service friendly, and the food consistently delicious. We had the tuna wrap, tacos, blueberry pancakes, chicken wrap, and avocado rolls. Everything was great—especially the wraps and pancakes, which were packed with flavor and super satisfying. The avocado rolls were just okay, but still a decent start to the meal. If you’re looking for a reliable brunch spot with a solid menu and welcoming vibe, Sanford’s is still one of Astoria’s go-tos.
Our visit to Sanfords Restaurant was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we stepped inside, we were struck by the inviting ambiance that set the perfect tone for a memorable night. The restaurant has a warm, stylish vibe, and the music selection was spot on—just the right mix to enhance the atmosphere without being overwhelming. The volume was ideal, allowing us to enjoy the tunes while still holding easy conversations, no shouting necessary. The food was absolutely delicious! Every dish was crafted with care and bursting with flavor. Whether you’re coming for dinner with family, having a date night with your spouse, or meeting up with coworkers for a laid-back hangout, Sanfords delivers on every front. It’s the kind of place that feels both special and accessible, with prices that make it an affordable gem in Astoria. The service was excellent—attentive without being intrusive—and added to the overall relaxed, enjoyable experience. We truly felt welcomed and well taken care of. If you’re looking for a spot in Astoria that checks all the boxes—great food, perfect ambiance, excellent service, and good vibes—Sanfords is the place to be. A solid 10/10 experience that we can’t wait to enjoy again!
I’ve been going to Sanford‘s for over 20 years and I’ve never had a disappointing meal there. Tonight was no exception. My husband and I shared an order of the mussels, he had a bistro burger and I had the hanger steak with bernaise sauce and cream spinach on the side. This steak was better than most of the steak I’ve had in steakhouses. I go to sanford’s very often to meet people for lunch and for weekend brunches too. The food is always great- very fresh and well-prepared. The waitstaff is also super nice and professional. You really can’t go wrong going here.
It was the second time my wife and I been to Sanfords just like the first time the experience was excellent !! great Food and great service and staff always attentive and vey friendly. chef Alfonso was nice enough to make a special dessert display for my wife and I for Valentines!! Will definitely comeback many more times. Thank you
Wish I could give more than 5 stars. This place is a bourbon lovers dream! The owner Chris what very hospitable and offered many suggestions based on my preferences, and he nailed each one! Sanford's offered 100s, if not more, different bottles. This is a must stop for bourbon and whiskey lovers, cannot wait visit again next time I'm in NYC.
Had a great experience. The mood, the setting, the lighting is perfect! The food was above and beyond our expectations! The menu has a great variety for all tastes and the price is decent for the portions which are not small . No wait time and the servers were all amazing ! Went with a family group of 6 and a baby . Great for couples or just with friends ..
This restaurant usually does a good job. I live near by so I've had food from here no less than 30 times in person and pickup order. It is amazing that the food is listed as explicitly organic! My one complaint if I were forced to give it would be that there is not the ability to pay for your food at the front of the restaurant, the hostess has to take your card walk all the way to the back and then bring it to you. A portable payment system or even one up front will be far more efficient as you can end up waiting long depending on the time of the pick up. Still I love this place.
First thing I noticed when I entered was the decor and vibe. Very cozy but upscale at the same time. The waiters were really on point and super attentive. We started with the Risotto Ball which was scrumptious. It wasn’t dry inside and the mushroom gave it a nice meaty texture. I then had the Sesame crusted Yellowtail Tuna. I absolutely loved it. It comes in top of a bed of Jasmin rice and some vegetables. Truly packs a great amount of flavor.
This was my first time dining at Sanfords and it did not disappoint! Sat at the bar which was such a vibe and they were playing good music in the background. We had the prime skirt steak ciabatta sandwich, the pecan crusted organic chicken salad, and the banana caramel cheesecake xangos. Highly recommend their Sanford old fashion! Overall had an amazing experience and big shoutout to Ali, Bar Manager, who took great care of us. Will definitely be coming back and recommend this place to everyone...CHECK THEM OUT!
Sanfords is a classic. One of the few old-school eateries in Astoria that has been able to successfully grow and evolve with the times, without losing its soul. Always amazing food, great bar, attentive staff and gorgeous atmosphere. The owners will often greet customers and make sure everyone is enjoying their meal. You feel valued at this restaurant. Favorites here are the oysters, the truffled gnocchi and the burgers.
Really good food and service! I love the menu and want to go back to try more! The avocado spring rolls are delicious! I had the seared tuna salad and it was the perfect entree sized salad! The skirt steak was fantastic too. The cocktails are great - try the limeade with lavender.

Love everything about this place. Food, service, ambience, all great. we have been going to this place for several years.
Service was outstanding. Food was excellent for the price. They easily accommodated me in a wheelchair.
Went for a brunch with wife and kid, loved the relaxed vibe that seems for both family or group of friends. Lobster Mac and cheese and fried ravioli's were incredible! Great dinner and drink list, …
Great place. I took my girlfriend and her family to have her birthday dinner there and they all loved it. Food was worth the wait!
Delicious burrata appetizer! I also had the chicken parmesan which was a GENEROUS serving and was spectacular! A great local choice while visiting.

The menu is never ending!! There is so much selection to choose from!! Food and drinks were excellent. atmosphere was very nice and staff were very attentive.
Food is very good and the waiter is very accommodating The place is clean and spacious We’ll return again soon
Delicious food. Courteous staff. We had the tacos..fish and short rib. Very scrumptious, succulent and satisfying. Also the boozy brunch option is an amazing compliment to eating there!
Came for Sunday brunch and was sat quickly. Our server was eh. She was very pushy in taking our order and getting us to leave when we had finished our meal. The food itself was good and the menu offered lots of savory or sweet options. I chose the maple and pecan French toast with a side of bacon. My fiancée had the duck confit and waffles, and our friend had the avocado toast.
Sanfords is legit. Been hearing great things for years so I finally got around to it today. The team got Crispy Duck Confit and waffles, pulled pork benedict and the crab cake benedict. Ordered truffle mac n cheese for the table. Everyone was pleased with their order. I got the Crispy Duck Confit with waffles, plantains and some decadent syrup. The duck was crispy and Flavorful as promised. The waffle was light n fluff inside and crispy out. Plantains were perfection and all three ingredients compliment each other just right. Duck comes in drumstick/leg form and I wish it was meatier! But it did fill me up so I guess I cant complain. Wife had the crab cake benedict. It was good, but nothing amazing. I had a good couple bites and felt they could've come harder than that. Homie got the pulled pork benedict and loved every bite. Must've been a huge portion too cuz he took almost half to go. Truffle mac and cheese was amazing, as it better be. Pretty small portion for $15 tho. I guess the richness makes up for the size. The drinks were good. My mimosa was good, the bellini was good, wife said the Bloody Mary was fine lol oh and i was really disappointed by the hot cocoa. I'll be back for the gouda stuffed duck sandwich tho.
Had brunch here with a friend. Food: As an appetizer we ordered the truffle mac'n cheese which we both loved! For entrees we decided to share our meals. We ordered the eggs benedict with pulled pork and a duck burger. I was BLOWN AWAY by the pulled pork. I was pleasantly surprised that it was on a big piece of texas toast instead of your standard english muffin. The side of potatoes was a tad dry but I was much more focused on the main part of the meal. The duck burger was a bit disappointing. They initially brought the wrong meal and brought us the duck confit waffle instead of the burger. When we got the burger the gouda was not fully melted in the center, and the patty was a bit on the dry side. I'll admit I was disappointed but now I know to stick to the pulled pork Service / Ambiance: Although they got one of our orders wrong, the servers were very polite, had a smile, and were very attentive with our water and my coffee refills. The ambiance is nice, albeit a bit loud inside but my friend and I sat by the window so I think we were a little further from the noise which was nice. Overall, great experience and definitely going back to try the black truffle burger! Thank you!
Sanford's is a fantastic spot whether you're meeting friends for brunch or enjoying a dinner date. For brunch, the steak and eggs is always a reliable choice, but I highly recommend trying the sweet chorizo hash, served in a mini skillet--it's absolutely delicious. For dinner, the raw oysters are incredibly fresh, and the lobster mac and cheese is simply unforgettable. Their burgers and PEI Mussels are always a solid option.
The food was very good The service was excellent They have happy hour Oyster bar 4 to 6:00 p.m. Is a dollar an oyster they have Is one of the most Is extensive alcohol selection for those who drinkAnd for those who eat the food is Is excellent appetizer Fried calamari And I had oysters on a 1/2 shellIs an a nice dish of pasta shells broccoli rabe sausage in a light tomato cream sauce . The Place was cozy and warm The manager is Professional and respectful As the rest of the Staff I Congratulate the kitchen staff from the chef to the dishwasher Smooth operations Beautiful decora And atmosphere In the dining room
Sanfords was not bad! Came here for brunch on a Wednesday and had a fairly decent meal. We started off with the calamari and truffle mac and cheese. Both were GREAT! I have no complaints. Everything was on point. I'm typically not a fan of loose mac and cheese but the flavors made up for it. Unfortunately, the actual brunch meal was sub par. I've had my share of Eggs Benedict and the one at Sanford's was just "ok". The hollandaise sauce was lacking alot. It looked great but the taste was almost watery and bland. The french toast was basic with a overwhelming amount of berry and pecan syrup. Despite the breakfast items, Sanfords is alright with me.
This place has one of the best happy hour specials. We ended up staying for dinner as well. I tried three different types of whiskey and I enjoyed them all. The Blanton was my favorite! The ambiance is very intimate and modern. The food is good as well. I would definitely recommend trying it.
I had their brunch, service was great, as was atmosphere, decor and music. Fully stocked bar and a few screens. It wasn't crowded but kept a steady flow of people coming and going. Portions weren't that great neither was presentation, but taste was delightful. I would come back. Restroom was clean.
Loved the extra upscale ambience here! This resturant provides a great brunch menu and specially a good variation of Mexican brunch. The only concern I had was- taste was up to expectations for Fish Tacos and Hollandaise sauce on Egg Benedict. I recommend this place if you are limited by high travel times to NY Manhattan.
The space was super cool with a modern industrial glam look. Love the uniforms on servers. The place was spacious too. The drink were really delicious and strong. Try the lavender limeade! Really good! The food lacked flavor so a lot of salt and pepper was needed, even some hot sauce but it makes sense given the area. Not many can handle powerful flavors. The space was clean, professional, bright, spacious, stylish. I'd givr other items on the menu a try down the road.
Sanfords Astoria is so popular that the wait is always bad, especially on weekends. We highly recommend to visit earlier to beat the crowd. Their indoor decoration was one of their signature features but we had our brunch gathering outdoor. The options on the menu were various and we were lucky to share different dishes with a group of five. We had Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict, Corned Beef Hash Skillet, Prime Skirt Steak Skillet, 16oz Prime Skirt Steak & Egg and Breakfast Burrito. We were not impressed with the taste but satisfied with the look of eggs on top of each dish. They cooked all different types of egg perfectly and lovely. It’s a compliment since plating is definitely one of the most important elements for brunch.
We visited this place with a good friend on a Friday night. It was busy so the hostess asked us to wait for a couple of minutes so she could accommodate us. We ended up sitting in one of the couches on the right side as you enter the restaurant. Great choice. We handed over the menu right away. We chose a calamari plate as a starter and 2 main plates, chicken for my friend and pasta with meatballs for me. We also did a few drinks. The service was exceptional. Very attentive. My pasta was overcooked. It wasn’t al dente at all and I am a pasta lover. Meatballs were good. This is the only reason I’m giving 4 stars. Good place, good vibe overall. Good job guys :)
Attended this restaurant with several colleagues for brunch. There is only off street metered parking in the area. The interior decor of the restaurant is chestnut wood finishings. The ambience of the restaurant is mellow and relaxing. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food was freshly prepared and drinks were good according to my colleagues. The food was really good and well presented. I will definitely visit again soon to experience other great items on the menu, especially for dinner time.
We went there for a birthday celebration. We enjoyed our food, drinks, surprise cake and service however, despite the group being told to not rush out after paying, we were rudely kicked out telling us the waiters couldn't leave us til we did. What was the point of keeping them there and , couldn't the manger (I guess) be more polite and ask gently to leave? That ruined the great time we had. A shame.
Heard they had some delicious filet mignon springs rolls here and had to give them a try and they were really good! The sauce they give on the side was great nice kick to it and I had the skirt steak sandwich very tender steak my buddy had a burger and it was good as well definitely a nice local spot to get some nice meat dishes

Way overpriced diner food. It has the appeal of a lounge with the dim lighting and 80's music but it is not worth half of the price you will pay unless your young with money to burn.

Tried this restaurant for the first time. Food was good, but the service was lacking. We felt pressured and rushed. On top of that, we had asked Leo for a tomato soup in lieu of the chicken orzo soup or salad that came with the entree and telling him that we would pay the difference. He simply said "Sorry, they won't do it. No we can't." Working in the food industry myself, I know it's possible! But clearly for this restaurant it's not, they're not willing to work with you. Sad to say that it was our first and last time going there. For the prices they charge, they should be more accommodating.
All began well as they had my reservation and then put our table together. We met our server whom took our drink order and then came back to take our food order. Before our food came she refilled our coffees , I then asked for half and half. Which I she must if forgotten ( which happens) . The bus boys immediately got me half and half after I asked them. They were on top of everything , helping customers and cleaning. The food was brought out by the runners . The food was very good and all was cooked as requested. The chef did a fine job. I did need several things like more butter , and syrup but was unable to get my waitress to come over again , additionally she never came back to our table until we sought her out to pay our check . The two bus boys were incredible and did save the day by helping us. We were a party of 5 and when I received the bill a 22 percent gratuity was added to the bill ? Their own web site says a gratuity will be added for parties of 6 or more. I always tip well and usually extremely well. I would not go back as I feel the service was not up to par. I was disappointed as I brought a family member there for her birthday . The whiskey bar looked amazing and was very well stocked I’m not commenting on that part of this establishment as I didn’t partake in any sampling or consumption.
I'll start by saying, Sanford's has been one my favorite places for a while now. But we took friends there today (their first time) for brunch and were beyond disappointed. Eggs arrived cold and ov…
My daughter brought me here for Mothers Day brunch / lunch. I glanced at the menu prior to arriving and I couldn't wait to try the avocado and filet mignon spring rolls!! They were really good! Def…
You can expect excellent food and service at this restaurant. We went there for Sunday brunch, and enjoyed very good mixed drinks and high end brunch food. However, we were dismayed by their lack…
Well where to begin, we had our reservation for 11 am. As we are getting to our table not even ready to put our stuff down waiter(speedy Gonzales) as I called him)comes to take the order, he says we have to order fast because they are lots of people and I said good I’m glad come back later. No kidding two minutes past he comes again we order our food with certain specifications: for ex: I wanted my Benedict eggs with the sauce on the side and runny yolk as they should be. Eggs come with the sauce on top and overdone eggs and the potatoes cold how I don’t know. I send it back they come back with sauce on the side and overdone eggs potatoes cold again I guess they just took the once that where given before, at this point speedy Gonzales said nothing I send them back finally eggs come the right way but potatoes clearly show they just gave me the same as before before I marked the black napkin that they put on the plate, not very smart. S’mores waffles came with out the marshmallows been flambeau as we saw on another table, at least you roast the marshmallows in a s’more, waste of time decorating it pay attention to how you send your food out of the kitchen don’t care how busy you are and how fast you want to send us our way that is no way to treat a paying costumer the third dish was a chorizo hash first sausage is not chorizo specify in your menu what exactly you are serving was cold and eggs where over cooked as well. Very disappointing place and service. As an executive chef is very disappointing to see this kind of service and the lack of attention and training of your employees. We did ask for the manager that never came.
I’d like to update my opinion about this restaurant. After the great first impression I had four years ago, I’ve been back several times, but each visit has been a bit more disappointing than the last — until last night, which will be my final one. We asked for the dessert menu and ordered two: the lava cake and the mango-coconut mousse. I also ordered an espresso martini. They brought the lava cake, which has absolutely nothing “lava” about it — it’s just a chocolate cake with ice cream on top. Very disappointing, because if you offer a lava cake, that’s what customers expect, not something else. The other dessert never arrived; the server forgot about it. When I mentioned that what they brought wasn’t a lava cake, he just said “I’m sorry” and walked away, as if it were a service issue — but the real problem is that they’re offering something that’s not what they actually serve. He later apologized for forgetting the other dessert, admitting that part was his fault. The espresso martini was okay, nothing special. I won’t be coming back.
We went to Sanford’s for a quick lunch on Sunday — very unfortunate experience. The staff seemed more interested in chatting and laughing with each other than paying attention to the customers. We both ordered the skirt steak, but instead received bowls of chopped steak leftovers with zero flavor. It was so unattractive and tasteless that we returned it less than a minute after it was served. This wasn’t just a case of not matching the menu description — it didn’t even qualify as food. There was no manager on the floor to speak with, and the two people behind the bar didn’t seem to care about customer service or hospitality. Instead, they were gossiping about patrons in a language they assumed no one understood — openly, in front of customers sitting at the bar. No one asked questions, and nothing was removed from the check. No one answers the phone when you try to call and ask why you were charged for something you couldn’t eat — even as a regular customer of over 15 years. Extremely poor management. What was once an Astoria institution is now just a bar with open inventory, sub-par service, and a shrinking menu (quality-wise). I rarely leave reviews, but after too many disappointing experiences and wasted efforts to give this place another chance, I’ve had enough. Stay away. There are far better options in Astoria. The only thing that has kept up with the times here is the price — and that’s not compliment.
We went there for Saturday brunch. We ordered Crab egg Benedict, steak and spring rolls. The mimosas and spring rolls were good. The foods were not tasty and it was hard. My english muffin was really hard to cut and chew. We wanted medium rare steak but we got well done. The server came and without asking he was about to take my plate then I had to tell him I am not done eating.
Came here because my husband said the food was good. Sad it say it wasn’t. The drinks on the other hand was really really good. The cranberry salad tasted old. The chicken served with the salad tasted stale. It literally tasted like they cooked it in the morning and served it to us at 5pm when we had dinner. The fish tocos was unseasoned but fresh. I say just come here for the drinks and the oysters. That was the best part of the meal.
If I was rating solely the food here and not the service I’d give them 3.5 stars. Overall the food was decent, but they had amazing desserts. I’m deducting a star because two minutes after receiving our appetizers we were served our entrees! We each ordered French Onion soup and literally just took two spoonfuls and our waiter put the entrees on the table! By the time we finished our appetizers our entrees were cold! I never had my entree served when I just got my appetizer in my entire life! A word of advice don’t put your dinner order in until you finish eating your appetizer! For entrees my husband and sister ordered a burger and fries both were decent. I had their lobster ravioli, and it was TERRIBLE! The sauce was bland and the lobster in the ravioli tasted extremely fishy like old fish! The desserts however were all delicious! The fried cheesecake was FANTASTIC! The brownie and peanut butter pie was very good! Decent place overall, but not great with terrible service!
I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My colleagues invited me for a birthday brunch. One ordered a grilled chicken with a salad and two us ordered poached eggs with salmon and potatoes. My pot…
10•15•2018 Well, I searched for best restaurants in Astoria and the Sanford’s was on the top list with good reviews. The decor was amazingly good and everything was professional. I was really disappointed with the quality of food. We were seated in table #35. We had Chicken Orzo and fires as an appetizer. Honestly soup was awesome. For the meal we had Steak Skillet and Cornedbeef Sandwich. The steak skillet looked really delicious but there were no flavor at all. All I tasted was something bitter with the onions and red pepper. I couldn’t even figure out what kind of cheese it was. No taste at all. We could hardly eat anything. Then we thought we’ll get a burger because we were still hungry. The burger came out dry and pale. We took A BITE. And that was it, it was horrible. Our server noticed that we hardly touched the steak and the burger, it was really awkward but we had tell him we didn’t like it at all. At times, by looking at the good reviews I am thinking to myself that if I ordered wrong food but It’s not our first time trying American cuisine, we had so many times but never experienced a situations like this. I expected a lot but I was really disappointed with the food and We had to leave the restaurant hungry. And it was my Birthday.
Went for brunch today. We both ordered the big boy breakfast. Scrambled eggs were cold as was the potatoes and the waffle. The butter did not even melt when put on the waffle. We walked out. This is second time I had a bad experience with them. Last time my hamburger was raw.
I went for brunch and it was not a good experience. The service was not great, it took almost 20 mins for a waiter to acknowledge us to take our order. Then when a waiter did he was not friendly. I can live with some rudeness if the food was good. After waiting almost 40 mins for steak and eggs and bacon and pancakes the food came. The place was not packed and did not have people lined up to come in. When the food came it was devoid of flavor, within two bites of the food I asked for the check. All I can say for the food and service I would not recommend, it was a waste of money and time and I am now in a uber to find a decent meal.
Unfortunately our fig pear salad had the produce sticker still on a pear slice. We were almost done with the salad before we noticed but we let our server know immediately. Our dessert was STRIKINGLY cold, almost frozen in the center. We asked the server if it was on purpose and he said it was supposed to be cold. Some aspects of the dishes didn't make sense, our apple tartine shouldn't have been served with a spoon, it was impractical to eat. The slices of pear were way too large in the salad, also impractical. I shouldn't have questions about that type of thing when eating out... It's unfortunate that the food actually was good, it's just a series of things that kept happening. Our server comped the dessert due to the produce sticker incident which I found odd. I feel like the salad should have been comped because that was the dish with the mishap. I understand desserts are cheaper and that's why what was done was done, it's just very telling on the restaurants part. It's Valentines Day and a busy evening, however it's a predictable high traffic time and they were clearly not prepared. Our server didn't check on us once, we had to flag him down each time.
Definitely do not get anything delivered as that was my experience and never ate the food inside dining. So please take this review as a complete opinion of my takeout order. Ok I ordered the pulled pork sandwich (award winning?!), sweet potato fries, and french onion soup. First the app will not track delivery person. So, figured I would call and kindly ask the driver to call prior to arrival in order to not inconvenience the delivery person. They seemed to be annoyed by my call although polite and said the driver will call when downstairs. Sure enough the drivers call was marked as spam and went straight to VM. Luckily I noticed within a minute or so and immediately called back and let him know I would be right down. He was nice but seemed annoyed as well. It quite possibly might have been the same person that took my call earlier. I immediately went upstairs to finally dig into my much needed food order. Well, the picture below was my first piece of garbage I removed from the delivery bag. For those that cannot see it is supposed to be a pulled pork sandwich. It was unfortunately a squashed and deflated bun on top with a soaked and soggy lower bun?! The middle filling was a hunk of average at best pulled pork and a heaping side of red tortilla chips. The French onion soup was missing so much. There wasn’t much complexity to it to be honest and it was once again average at best. The sweet potato fries unfortunately were wet and soggy. There isn’t much you can do to have bad tasting sweet potato fries. Taste wise they were fine. But there are ways to send fried foods without them dying too much. Or you can deconstruct the menu item to keep the food from dying in transit. Most people have the ability to revive the temperature if the food wasn’t hot but the crisp was still there and things weren’t soggy. So, overall I had a bad experience but this isn’t an in person dining experience. So please do not take my review too seriously.
