Such a lovely treat of a place to dine. My wife and I frequent this specific Original Mel’s because of the great service and awesome ambience. The neon signs, clocks and assorted classic 1950s memorabilia on the walls really make this place feel like you are kinda back in time. The servers that have taken care of us have always been courteous and polite. Lauren in specific does her job very well. The food served is consistently on point; could be a tasty Melburger with cheese or a ham and scramble breakfast platter that fills you up. Tasty dishes and reasonably priced!

The overall ambiance of this location was super nice, very clean and Very welcoming! The staff were so sweet and make you feel very welcome. The food was probably the best out of many of the other locations I’ve been too. 10/10 will always recommend!

Well they are so good at making their burger and burrito and I say well train on their service. I ordered a breakfast burrito I was craving it . And a side of potato fried and it came out perfect and delicious. Their great on their coffee I love how they asked you if you want creamer or sugar. For me I like creamer. No sugar. But there is one thing they keep their restaurant so clean. I love how they have good classic Elvis music or classic oldies music I love to tap my fingers on the table if I listen to classic oldies music. Anyways keep up the good work mels on your great customer service. I recommend this restaurant for like if you are traveling or spending on birthday yes they will sing for your birthday. I came on a Friday afternoon for lunch with my parents and spouse although my mom ordered a breakfast meal since it was served all day. I ordered the blt with fries and ate the whole thing it was so good, as well as a chocolate milkshake which came with tin cup leftovers. Dad got the special of the day, tuna melt sandwich. Hubby ordered a burger which they were able to put on gluten free bread which was a very nice option! The server gave us ample time to review the menu and would check on us often and the hostess was awesome in finding us a table that would accommodate the four of us plus a sleeping baby in a stroller. Classic mels atmosphere and decor but it was cool to see the menu had location specific items. 10/10 ✨

After running errands all morning we popped into Mel’s hoping for a quick sit-down meal. We were seated right away and our order was taken in an okay amount of time. The food arrived quickly and was yummy. All in all, a good place for a fast meal that’s not fast food. The atmosphere is really cute too!

This place is cool. Classic diner vibe. the sound system plays classic pop songs but there are small jukeboxes at every table that you can pay quarters to pic from like 775 songs from Hank Williams sr. to Michael Jackson. It would probably be a really cool thing to experience for kids. Bring quarters. The food is good for the price I went here because it was where my work decided to feed us. I asked the server( who turned out to be the saltiest waitress ever) for a custom omelette because I’m trying to watch my cholesterol. She made fun of me relentlessly in front of fourteen other men and a few other customers lol. She was an excellent waitress. The service was really really good…but neither the food or (apparently the servers) are cholesterol friendly. 😉 It’s a great experience for not much money.

Always at home here at Mel's Auburn. We are regulars, know most the staff and other customers by facial recognition.

Food and service are usually good, however this time not so much. Waitress never got us refills and did not see her the whole meal. Others were wondering where she was also. Food was sub-par, but we will continue to go there unless it happens again.

What to say about Mel's diner the waiter I had named Madison was terrific and kind and very respectful to me and my parents she always had a smile and very nice and sweet to us she deserve my dad to give her a 20 dollar bill on her great service I appreciate her on how many tables and service she did. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was big and very filling ps plus it's a little spicy but I like it I took leftovers. The place is very nice incase you want to bring you love ones or bring family. I love love love ! This is one of my favorite places to get breakfast when I come to visit Auburn ! I always get the California eggs Benedict. They cook everything perfect highly recommend. Me and my dad and boyfriend approve !

So happy that Mel’s was opened on Easter because practically every business was closed, and I wanted to have a nice cooked meal at a restaurant. First, the restaurant is very clean, each staff greeted us with a smile and “welcome”, and we were quickly seated at a table and handed menus. Once we decided on our order and the order was placed, the food was prepared quickly and perfectly. Best of all, we had a very sweet waitress who ensured our order and food was as expected, and that it met our expectations. I definitely would return and recommend them.

Great food and the owner and staff were outstanding in their service and made you feel like you were part of their family I just wish that the portions were bigger. But with Bidenomics the burgers are at least 30 to 35% smaller as opposed to the past. I had the cheeseburger and onion rings and a chocolate shake. My friend had the avocado burger with fries.

I never had the turkey club so I gave it a go and it was really good. Fresh food & great service.

You guys are awesome! Food was so good! The potato salad was so fresh and just perfect!! Not just another burger place. The ribs fell off the bone! The veggies were not over cooked and were still buttery. My aunts fish and shrimp basket was crispy and not greasy. And the service was exceptional it’s nice to see a busy place with enough workers. We used to regularly go in here like 15 years ago. It has a 50s diner vibe - still owned by the same family and the quality has stayed good. They have a great Auburn Only blue plate salmon dinner (blackened or teriyaki)… which id still great. Dinners come with cornbread which is plenty of dessert for me.

Loved it here! First thing I look at is customer service and then quality of food. I have to say that I was amazed! Both were on point! Good Job! Definitely going to stop by again.

After moving into town, I had a wonderful meal and experience at this Mel’s diner. Overall, the restaurant was more updated than a lot of other Mel’s diners that I’ve been to. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. I really appreciate that they have specials on different weeknights. I’ll definitely be stopping in more often. I hope someday they managed to fix the right side of their jukebox.

This is the real deal. We took our large family to my late father’s favorite restaurant. We shared many memories of dad eating at Mel’s and it was so nice to share a meal with siblings and mom. Food is classic American diner made with excellence. Delicious! Service is always very good, and this time was no exception. Atmosphere is perfect for the entire family or date night. We were greeted by a friendly waitress. We placed in order to go. I ordered a 4 piece fried chicken meal with fruit and my husband ordered Philly cheesesteak with fries and a chocolate malt. When we got home i received a 5 piece chicken tender on top of a bunch of fries. And our chocolate shake had something weird on the bottom of it that resembled citrus fruit. We called Mel's diner in Auburn and told them what happened. They made my fried chicken dinner, gave us a new chocolate malt,, and for our troubles, they provided us with a chocolate sundae. They also told us they would give us a twenty percent off our next meal. If that is not customer service, I don't know what is. Thank you.Ross, for all of your help and your outstanding customer service. We will definitely be back!

This is still a real American diner. We came for weekday lunch and liked the friendly and authentic service and plenty food options on the menu. We loved the old music box on the table, not a cheap deco but the real thing! Prices are fair. Highly recommend the chocolate milkshake!

I order the corned beef hash almost every time, because it is that good. It can be hard to find a place that makes their own in-house. Everything was just fine. The food was good. The service was good. The atmosphere was good. Everything is so expensive today. This is not a dig on Mel's. It's just more than we can afford these days.

You gotta love the 50’s atmosphere , music and food at Mel’s Diner! It’s a great place for some good old comfort food. In fact, the meatloaf is a recipe from Tony’s grandmother! It was delicious. Was extremely let down at the diner tonight. I got a chicken fried steak and the sauteed veggies with fries and cornbread my veggies tasted like they were stored in a bag then microwave to order, the steak tasted like a frozen premake with gristley parts that were hard and mushrooms that were tasteless. The fries and the cornbread were delicious but how could you mess that up, also had some mashed potatoes that were actually good too but again i can do all that at home nothing special here, it was quite overrated but the atmosphere and really nice waitress made it a little better still could have been better service, for 35$ a plate it was not worth it and i unfortunately wont be returning to mels diner Edit: been going back for the fish and chips its delicious and i had to change my review i would still really like the see a better chicken fried steak

Atmosphere is where it's at with this place. If you dig 50-60's diner motifs then this is the place for you. Staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. Had the Monte Cristo which wasnt deep fried it was more of a French Toast Cristo. Not bad but not what I expected.

Super friendly greeting as we entered, which was a great start. It was busy, Sunday at lunchtime, but they were fast to seat us and take our drink order. The menu is fairly big, lots of breakfast and dinner choices. We went with the French dip roast beef sandwich with a side salad (the balsamic vinegarette was soooo yummy!), and some wings with a side of fries. The homemade cherry cokes were a sweet treat, as well. Overall, the food was good and priced as you'd expect for a diner. Diner's are a favorite. We will be back!

Food just like all the other Mel’s I’ve been to. Adequate portions, hot off the grill, and pretty good. Plus 1⭐️for being DOG FRIENDLY. Surrounding Mel’s today were a sea of vintage cars and trucks attending the 2023 American Graffiti Car Show. Mel’s is a sponsor of this well attended annual event. Car hops were making the rounds taking food and drink orders from attendees. Nice touch!

I stopped in 20 minutes before closing, Grace, who was my Hostess sat me at a table, but my waitress must have been on a break! I sat for close to 10 minutes before I looked around again, Grace noticed that nobody had come over to take my drink order! She asked me if I was helped yet, I replied no, so she took my order and put it in for me. I Got my food very quickly and she kept checking on me and made me feel special. Food came, ate it and she continued excellent customer service!!! My waitress finally came over but I was able to inform her that Gracie already took my order and gave me amazing service? 🥰💪🏼 I’d highly recommend Grace for your Dinning

My sons steak was 3 different Temps. He asked for med.rare and half was over medium and some medium rare and the rest rare . Other then that food was good, the gravy for the biscuits and gravy was odd. Our first time visiting a Mel's. We will be back! Food still good!

We had a party of 7, not too big. The waiter took all our orders. When he brought the food out, 2 of our meals were missing. A child french toast and a chicken salad. It took an additional 20 minutes just to get those 2 items once he realized he didn't turn in everything. He said he would take some off of the bill. It was only $2.00. Thank God the cashier helped. At least we didn't have to pay for the salad thanks to her.

We tried to give them another chance. Always seems to be something. The food was mediocre. Pancakes were rubbery, California eggs Benedict were bland, third breakfast of eggs and biscuits weren't any better. Three meals cost 75.00 plus tip! I think we are now moving on.

I understand we as people get busy at work but when it comes to doing orders for customers. You really need to pay attention and make sure everything a customer ordered is there. Which means. Check everything.

It's been awhile since I stopped at a Mel's diner. Usually count on them for excellent service and food. I ordered a Patty melt and I substituted a side salad for the fries at the cost of $1.99. The salad had some fresh greens on it but also some that were brown and wilted and nasty. I pointed it out to the waitress and she had it taken off my bill. But I've been driving all day. I was kind of looking forward to that salad so it left a bad taste in my mouth, that and the tiny bit of blue cheese dressing that they gave me for the side salad which was about enough for half of the salad. I wish I had had the fries.

First time at this Mels. I ordered the Wednesday breakfast special and they forgot seasoning. By the time the waitperson came back around (they were not busy) I was halfway done but asked for some anyway. Looked good but just tasted like salt. Whole plate was bland otherwise, so maybe adding cheese would make it yummy. Wait staff needs to be more personable. Price was right.

Mel's is the perfect place to escape the COVID safety restrictions like masking, distancing and sanitizing (see photo). Your food is served by great people who can smile and breathe without fear of infection. The food is either good or fair. Service is always the best.

Greasy dry food, dirty floors including atrocious bathroom conditions. However the piece de resistance is the non existence of quality service and any at all. Waitress ghosted us and messed up our order and would intentionally ignore our party and needs. Will not return or recommend.

No quality check on the food, getting brown spring mix for salads

I come here often, so it was very disappointing to receive such bad service. First, there was an extremely long wait for the server to take the order. Its ok if you check every 2 minutes. Don't leave us stranded! Second, syrup is supposed to come with waffles. When you realize the mistake and say you will be right back, the thing is, you are supposed to come right back... Not make us wave you down and explain it. Third, when a 12" sandwich is ordered, it is traditional to cut it in half. I should not have to ask for a sharp knife, and it should be delivered quickly. I will likely be back-- i just hope i don't get that server again

It's been awhile since we've eaten here. I was immediately shocked at how filthy everything was. Napkin dispensers and juke boxes on the table were so caked in food and dirt, they were disgusting. Walls, doors, baseboards all filthy. No attention to detail. Orders were incorrect. Burger with fries came with literally 7 French fries! Looked like they forget the rest of the order. Staff tried hard to do a good job but something is definitely amiss here. Very sad to see this. It used to be good.

Horrible service. My waitress never checked on me. I didn't have utensils and had to ask someone else because the waitress put down my plate and walked away rather than asking if I needed anything else. I was charged an extra $4 for blueberries in my pancakes which it didn't say on the menu specials and the waitress didn't inform me (otherwise I would've gotten normal pancakes). I will never be coming here again, and don't recommend it to anyone.

Called in an order for French dip. Food was done fast and they were quick to help me. My problem was I couldn’t tell if I was eating beef or shoe leather. Overdone to the point it was hard to chew. I’m gonna guess it was leftover for a few days and they ran it through the microwave. Roadkill vibes. Will not be back
