If you’re looking for an amazing breakfast, brunch, or lunch spot, Berkeley Social Club is a must-visit! We went for breakfast and were absolutely blown away by the flavors and generous portions. The Blackstone Benedict was the star of the show. Perfectly poached eggs paired with tender asparagus and a rich, velvety Hollandaise sauce created a harmonious bite every time. The ample serving of seasoned potatoes rounded out the meal beautifully. We also tried the Salmon Avocado Toast, which was fresh and flavorful, though it couldn’t quite compete with the indulgence of the Benedict. Still, it’s a solid choice for those who love lighter fare. And then there’s the Millionaire’s Bacon—truly divine! Thick-cut, smoky, sweet, and kissed with just the right amount of heat, it’s an absolute game-changer. This is one item you cannot skip, be it as part of your Benedict or as a separate side. Pro tip: Come early! This place gets busy fast, and for good reason. Service was attentive and friendly, which we appreciated. Berkeley Social Club delivers on taste, quality, and experience. Highly recommended for anyone craving a memorable breakfast or brunch.
This place has literally been on my bookmarks for years now and I finally made my way here. We made reservations a few days in advance and had to change last min, they had plenty of open spots for reservations. The vibe is very Berkeley. Cool, non pretentious and just chill. We were seated promptly and our server approaching us within minutes with water. When you're dining with kids, these things matter. Here're the dishes we order and their review: Mimosa- 10/10 obvs KFC & rice for the kids - 10/10 the chicken was nice, crispy and flavorful and they devoured it Millionaire's bacon - 10/10 good portion thick cut 2 slices that's a bit spicy and tangy and sweet Eggs in Purgatory - 9/10 sorta tastes like French onion soup with lots of onions, it's tangy, has bacon. It comes with 1 piece of bread. That's the only -1 point here. There's so much sauce and 1 piece of bread just doesn't cut it. KFC Benedict - 9/10 chicken is great, flavors are great. The -1 point is for the hollandaise sauce which wasn't spread out or abundant enough :) Definitely recommend it
So pleasantly surprised! We went in New Years day for brunch and didn't know this place was Asian fusion but we were so happy! We got Pajeon and Ahi Tuna Eggs Benedict, an ube latte, yuzu tea, and a few other things. The yuzu tea was too sweet but other than that everything was perfect!
Great food, great service! Everything we tried was really good - calamari, wings, cheese gyoza, ube latte, lemon cheesecake! Only bulgogi was a bit too plain, expected a bit more flavor, but the rest was simply excellent. Cannot beat their happy hour prices too!
Highly recommend by family members...well let's just said it was worth the drive( from Livermore), as soon as we arrived; we were greeted by the most friendliest hostess and rapidly seated. Once seated she proceed to asked for drink orders..( Like really❤️) in less than 3 minutes our waitress came to greet us and again, she verified our drink orders .. coffee, orange juice and waters . Holy smokes! And that is not all ; when it came about our food orders she was on it. Extremely specific wanted to have our orders just right, ❤️ I'm a vegetarian and love that they have several choices for me 😁 Food took a little longer to arrive, but was worth the wait! We were not in a hurry. Food was delicious 😋 The restaurant is extremely clean, tables chairs and restrooms. The employees look and acted happy to be there! The were very in tune to our needs and the rest of other patrons. Truly recommend this place! Word advice if you want a table right away arrive early if not make reservations! Get busy around brunch time.
i love coming here for brunch omg it’s soo yummy my fav is the korean fried chicken waffle ❤️❤️ and the ube latte was rly yummy
We came here for a nice family breakfast when we were visiting the area. The food was amazing, service was great, large screens showing sports- was happy I was able to catch the end of a Euro24 game I was following. The atmosphere was vibrant, the place was busy but service was fast and efficient. Parking was a little tricky but as we came on a Saturday we were able to grab a spot on the street nearby, and paid for 90min which was more than adequate for our breakfast visit. Recommend checking this place out if you happen to be in the area.
We were fortunate that it was pouring outside which made the wait time less. Service was excellent and the food was phenomenal. We ordered the Morning Pizza...it was dough-less but had a bit too much potatoes. It was very good but maybe it could use some tweaking. We ordered a side of Millionaire's Bacon which was awesome as I love Bacon! We also ordered the Bulgogi Bowl which is a must order for anyone that comes to eat here! Very generous on the steak...ask for more sauce though. We also ordered a side of Crinkle Fries. Then we also ordered "to go" a KFC Sandwich and another Millionaire's Bacon. A great value and experience. Despite the distance as we live in San Francisco, we will be back. Hopefully on a rainy day...
Berkeley Social Club is my all-time favorite spot whenever I visit Berkeley. It's super close to the downtown BART station, making it an easy stop, and I love strolling through the nearby tea shops and bookstores after a meal--it's the perfect way to spend the day. The space is spacious and beautifully decorated, with a warm, inviting vibe that makes it perfect for any social gathering, just like the name suggests. Whether I'm meeting up with friends or having a relaxed solo meal, it always feels like the right choice. But what keeps me coming back is the food--especially their Jjamppong. The Jjamppong is packed with rich, spicy broth and fresh seafood that hits all the right notes! Every visit is a satisfying, feel-good experience, and it's always the first place I recommend when someone's heading to Berkeley!
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Definitely a lot of younger people especially since it’s a college town. Be aware no substitutions are accepted on weekends or holidays since they are pretty busy. They do have a limited kids menu that even my picky eater enjoyed. Didn’t get a chance to try the millionaires bacon but they were able to cook my kid’s bacon just to his liking (extra soft). The Korean fried chicken was TO DIE FOR. It was juicy and moist on the inside (even the white meat) while has a crisp crunch that wasn’t oily at all outside. The pickles that paired the spicy pork sandwich were crunchy and sour so it fit well to cleanse your palate after eating a mammoth sandwich. The eggs Benedict was easily one of my top 5 eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. The pairing of sliced fried chicken under the gogujang hollandaise was perfect. Next time, I’ll definitely need to try more and get the ube latte (or dirty ube latte!) I got the passion fruit unsweetened ice tea which I wish had refills because it was so good! Can’t wait to come back.
Definitely a must-try. Parking can be a challenge looking for street parking but worth it. It’s a clean, relaxing environment with welcoming staff and great eats. My family and I went as we passed time waiting on my daughter to graduate from UC-Berkeley. I had the Korean Fried Chicken Benedict. My wife had the Mascarpone blueberry crunch French toast. My daughter the South of the Border Scramble. All were very good.
Full and Flavourful! Who knew that Korean and Southern flare could taste SO good! Now a days when one think of fried chicken Southern doesn’t just come to mind. Korean fried chicken does as well. Berkeley Social Club goes a step further. They get the magic secret spice spot on. I think it’s a combination of Latin spice with a Korean sensibility that does it. Regardless, this is a spot to try out that has massive servings, at least for a Canadian, and it looks great! Food and furnishings.
Super cool brunch spot. I’d describe food as typical American brunch (traditional toast, waffles, etc) but with an Asian fusion twist. Altogether, it’s a a really unique menu with something for everyone. Have been here a few times and although the presentation is great, everything looks just a bit better than it tastes. The salmon Benedict is colorful, filling, and tasty. Appetizer sampler is pretty good. Would get fried chicken elsewhere though. The dolsot has been my favorite thing here so far. Fresh and tasty ingredients. Great vibes, presentable dishes, beautiful decor, and fast/attentive service. This definitely has to be a go to brunch spot. That being said, I’d lower your expectations just a bit because the taste can lag behind everything else.
Very popular brunch spot with good reason! A group of 6 of us were seated within 20-30 minutes on a Saturday which was pretty fast considering how many people there were. We ordered a handful of things such as the Bulgogi Bowl, Millionaire’s Bacon, Stuffed French Toast, and their special noodles (also comes with their famous bacon). Everything can easily be split between 2 people and we still had a lot of leftovers even after ordering around 5 dishes. We also got the Bottomless Mimosas that you have to drink within an hour. Great for groups!
My brother told us to come here for breakfast. It was a great decision as I was craving for something special. I ordered the crunchy French toast which was delicious and had a unique flavor. My brother ordered the waffle and Korean.F.C. With the spicy maple syrup. It was delicious and a big portion. My mom ordered scrambled eggs with the Millionaire‘s bacon. I have never tried this bacon but it was so tasty and sooo good. Service was excellent, it was a great value and experience. The design was great also but it was a bit chilly inside. Highly recommend this place!
Amazing brunch place with a great vibe and perfect for friends meetups. Their food is really great and most options on the menu seemed great. There is usually a wait on weekends so reserve or add yourself to the waitlist when you start for the place
What a wonderful experience. Great drinks and wonderful food. After having heard my son rave about this place we decided to go see what the talk was all about. We are glad we did. The eggs Benedict with salmon and with the Korean Fried chicken were both delicious and the side of potatoes were sumptuous! Definitely one of the best we have had. The Pajun Pancake was pretty good too with lots of veggies and a perfect poached egg on top. It was a very satisfying meal drinks wise as well as food wise. Super glad we did wait out the wait time and had brunch here. The long wait times are totally worth it.
This place has some unique and tasty food. I recommend you try it at least once if you are in Berkeley. I've shared some pictures of the dishes we tried. They were all excellent.
Immersive and unassuming from the outside. Drop in and be swept away with delicacies from blueberry stuffed French toast to amazing breakfasts to rival any 5 star restaurant. Highly recommend the crab and eggs Benedict with wasabi hollandaise! Simply Dope!
The best and most delicious brunch in the town of Berkeley. The most famous dish is Millionaires Bacon. The most popular dish in the house is Pimped Up Ramyun. You should most definetely order pimped up ramyun at this place. Extremely creative that will please your eyes and mouth. Very good dish. Almost every table had this dish on their tables. Coffee selection is also good. Highly recommend. Would come back to this place anytime.
The food? Honestly, one of the best I’ve had!! It was so delicious and their menu is a wide variety with lots of different foods. And they are such creative delicious combinations. They have cute menu names too! The wait was a little long but it’s to be expected when it’s this good! Servers were also kind and attentive! 10/10
Really incredible korean-american fusion food. I loved the pajun pancake-- it was totally unlike any I've tried and was so flavorful and crispy. The benedicts were also pretty solid (we ordered the ahi tuna and crab one), and the club moco was delicious as well. Service was good, and prices were on the moderate side.
I’ve been here a few times and it’s been a good experience each time. I had the omurice for the first time and it was very tasty.
Great place for hanging out with friends. The foods are great, and the staffs are super friendly. We tried a few things and we liked them all. Mascarpone Blueberry French Toast and Pimped Up Ramyun are two must try, and Club Moco will make you super full. The only downside: the wait can be long. Do join the waitlist on Yelp before you go!
One of the best brunch places in the Bay Area. The different egg scrambles are delicious, particularly the bulgogi scramble. The millionaire’s bacon is also a if plus. They also have bottomless mimosas. The portions will make you come out full.
Always our goto on gamedays in Berkeley! Vegan breakfast scramble and bottomless mimosas for $24 is a no brainer. We also like the Benedict’s! Tasted the absolute best pancake I’ve ever had! Service is alway great and this place is very popular on weekend mornings so depending on the time, you could have a bit of a wait
The first time I came here, I didn't love it. I didn't even like it. In fact, for one of the first times in my life, I had to send a dish back, because the Brussels sprout hash was so undercooked and bitter that I couldn't take more than a few bites. But the second time I came, I really liked it! It's possible that I just got a bad batch of Brussels sprouts last time, but this time I ordered an eggs benny and an omelette, and they were both delicious! They were soft, moist, flavorful, and big portions. I would certainly come back again!
We walked in as a party of two on a Sunday late morning and registered on the waiting list using the available tablet device. We were seated in less than ten minutes. Given that it was after 9AM we could order from either the breakfast or lunch menu. Service was fast and the food was excellent. I ordered the Korean fried chicken Benedict and every part of it was perfect (crispy Yukon potatoes, poached egg, spicy Hollandaise and fried chicken). Total for two breakfast meals and coffees was $55. Would enthusiastically eat here again, return to try dinner or recommend to friends!
Food was incredible, presentation of the food was picture perfect. Had Breakfast enough food to share, I will go back for lunch and dinner, try this place out. Very recommended
Berkeley Social Club NEVER disappoints! We had been coming here for a couple of years and wanted a chill experience before Xmas. Bo, our server, was extraordinary! She was attentive and so friendly. We chatted about our mutual travel experiences and the great food we ordered — including the Korean wings and bulgogi buns. We will keep coming a k here again and again. Great value and excellent service right in downtown Berkeley!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I can see this place being popular around town, especially for tourists. It is a little overpriced (IMHO), but I do appreciate the good quality of food and how it looked aesthetically. The dirty ube latte was the star of the show for sure. I wasn't a big fan of the millionaire's bacon because it was super rich and made my stomach hurt later, so I would probably get a different benedict next time. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area though!
Traditional diner food collides with K-Town pop at this spot. Come hungry because the portions are generous. The Benedicts have a nice kick and the French toast is all kinds of filling. Fun spit.
Cute breakfast place, didn't get the chance to try the food so much but it seems to be quite good, at least what we ordered is quite good. The selections available are quite carb heavy, so not something for health conscious people, but for those that want to indulge in good and filing breakfast for sure.
When you enter the restaurant, you will be greeted by warm smile from the their staff. They will ask you if you have reservation. We were lucky to have a table that time. The food I ordered was awesome! Pork belly with smoky sweet savory sauce and rice. This is an Asian food fusion. I can think about think this is between tocino (Filipino sweet marinated pork) and pork bbq. The sweetness and savory is not overwhelming. The rice serving fits with the amount of pork. I think the price of the food is reasonable but can be more affordable. The place is perfect for dating because of the relaxing and quiet ambiance. I recommend this place to people craving for Asian comfort food.
Came for dinner. The fried chicken was awesome. We had a table by the window and we enjoyed being able to see the people traffic outside. Overall it was a good experience. Will have to come back for the brunch.
Great place to have brunch. Unlike other traditional brunch restaurants, the food here is more like Asian fusion. We had Korean Fried Chicken (KFC), Club Moco and French toast. I love CM the most. The patty is tender and juicy. The sauce coming with the rice was amazing! Also highly recommended the French toast, which was deeply fried. One star off for the music. It was a bit too loud to talk with my friends while eating, we had to yell at each other lol Don’t forget to make a reservation on Yelp during the weekend. The line could be super long.
It seems that their menu is gravitate towards Korean fusion. We went for a weekend brunch and got seated right away. The host was very welcoming and tried to accommodate our needs. We ordered a Pimped up Ramyun (Dry tossed "Shin" cup noodle tricked out with Millionaire's Bacon, fried egg, vegetables)& a club moco (Rice stacked with sautéed kimchi, savory beef patty, egg, and gravy) They both were OK. I like the concept of Korean fusion diner but feel that the flavor was lost as it was too americanized. Price is on the higher side so I have a higher expectation. However, I've been to a few Korean fusion breakfast/ diner restaurants in the bay area and I think they are all similar. Ambience/ plate decor are photo ops, korean flavor was lost but still more interesting than a usual American diner.
The food is absolutely delicious. I had the Udon Sauté and it was full of flavor and the portion was quite big. The atmosphere was also nice - decor is modern and industrial. Parking can be a hit or miss as it's in the downtown area but we were able to park within 2 blocks at dinnertime on a weekday. The servers were nice but I felt they were understaffed because it took a lot of time to get our order in, refills, and the check. I hope owners hire more people.
It's a decent dining place just around the Berkeley campus, everything we ordered was amazingly delicious. Burgers 🍔 were authentically cooked in American style, while we also ordered their Korean cuisine, both the rice and seafood noodles were cooked in decent Korean spices, in the way it's spicy and hot, but you have a mouthful of Korean taste. Like their high-ceiling, which gives you the ambience that you feel relaxed when chilling out with your friends here.
Korean influence on traditional American brunch. Food is fine, not outstanding. The staff is patient and friendly. The only downside is noise - it's hard to carry a meaningful conversation when the space is full.
Unique food in a comfy casual place right by Cal campus. We came by on Sunday before noon to join the wait-list. We were seated in about 25 minutes. Along the sides of the restaurant are tables with benches and cushions, and luckily we got one of these tables. We ordered the pimped up Ramyun and dutch pancake. The waitress mentioned the dutch pancake takes about 20 minutes to prepare which was fine. What's interesting is, the Ramyun took 20 minutes to arrive, which I attribute to a backed up kitchen. Looking around at the parties who were seated moments before us, they didn't have their food yet either. The pancake came after 30 minutes and it was beyond delicious! I loved the crispy edges with the soft moist bottom. All the toppings went well with the pancake and it all went down our throats lickety split. The Ramyun was more addicting than I anticipated. The noodles were great and the candied bacon strip was a nice touch. It's really busy here and the wait staff are always moving around doing something. They have a positive attitude and are responsive when you get their attention. They are very focused on what catches their eyes like clearing tables but it can take time to get someone's attention since no one was looking up from their tasks. My husband's water was refilled three times while we were there and my water sat empty. Perhaps my cup was a stretch as I sat inside. I highly recommend coming here as part of your day in Berkeley! I will come back to try other items on their menu!
We had the chicken and waffles and the California burger. We loved their fries 10/10 but the waffles were a bit rubbery and the chicken was a little dry (6/10). The burger itself was a solid 9/10. Great vibe, but I wish they focused a little more on food quality than presentation.
The food looks soo much better than it actually tastes! The blueberry mascarpone French toast was such a disappointment.. it looked sooo good! I expected a filled French toast to be sweet but it had no sweetness whatsoever and needed maple syrup.. I would at that point prefer an OG French toast instead.. The mascarpone filling has absolutely no tastes and adds nothing to the dish.. the cereal crust starts out nice but after a few bites it’s boring, oily and again adds nothing to the dish. I feel bad to be so negative but I was expecting so much more from that pretty looking dish. The Florentine Benedict was good.. nothing extraordinary and the side potatoes had no seasoning at all. The coffee and service was good!
I’ve came here for brunch a few times over the last two years. I’ve love the food each time. Generally very busy during the weekends, but you can sign up for their waitlist on yelp. Prepare for a 30min - 1 hr wait. Went today and had the lemon ricotta pancake and a side of scrambled eggs and millionaire’s bacon. I’m usually not a fan of bacon but I’ll make an exception for millionaire’s bacon! However, despite how delicious the food was, the food did not arrive hot; it was lukewarm. There were few things that irked me about their service at times. During a visit before, I asked if I could substitute a breakfast meat for fruit, and they were ok with doing that. During a different visit, the waitress told me that they “don’t do that” and I was forced to choose a meat I didn’t want. But today they did something that really bothered me. In the restaurant, everyone was being sat one table apart. When we were seated, we were also placed one table apart from others dining in. I initially I thought it was awesome that they were social distancing us. But a few minutes later, a waitress brought a party of four and sat them directly next to us. Their table was less than a foot apart from us. I was extremely irked and uncomfortable throughout the rest of my dining experience. Later on I made a comment to my friend and he told me there was also enough room on the other side of the restaurant for the party to be seated while staying socially distanced. The middle of the restaurant empty too. tldr: Food is great, but service can ruin your food and experience.
Waitstaff was attentive, very nice and accommodating. The place gives off a modern and open feel. The KFC ($12) is very tasty and the pickled veggies that came with it, were tasty also. The pot belly $16, the club moco ($16), the Galbi ($22) lacked in flavor for me unfortunately. Cal burger ($17) was good as well as the garlic fries (extra $1). I wanted to like this place based on the reviews I read but I am not sure I will be back.
the foods are a bit spicy and little sweet, but acceptable. Service was great, good place to talk to friends and party. And I believe dishes were over priced, 22 for instant noodle with egg and bacon…. But it’s Berkeley so make sense
Came after seeing good review. But food is just so so. Rice in pork rice bowl was very mushy. Fried chicken was dry. Service and vibe are kind of nice, though.
Uncomfortable Seating Overshadows Dining Experience Our recent visit here was unfortunately marred by extremely uncomfortable seating arrangements. Our group of five was initially squeezed into a table for four, leaving me as the fifth person awkwardly positioned on the side with no space for my legs. This made for a very uncomfortable start to the meal. The situation worsened as our food arrived. Plates were delivered one by one, and with no room left at the table, I resorted to balancing my plate on a pillow in my lap, sitting a foot away from the table. It wasn't until a friend noticed how uncomfortable I was when she intervened and requested to combine our table with an adjacent empty two-top that we finally had adequate space, a request that thankfully was accommodated after a manager's approval. It became clear this wasn't an isolated incident. We observed several other tables facing similar dilemmas: two-tops with three people crammed together and another five-person group at a four-top. It raises the question of whether maximizing reservations is prioritized over basic customer comfort. The service itself was okay, with friendly staff. The host, though, seemed a little intense. for the food, it was decent but nothing special. And honestly, dropping $300 on a where you're basically squished into your seat? That's not ok. You shouldn't have to deal with basic comfort issues when you're paying that kind of money.
Context: this place looked amazing on social media and the reviews were great, so we were looking forward to a nice dinner here. Right off the bat, our waiter was super weird 😭 He came to our table with three ice waters and I asked him if he could take one back and replace it with hot water and he said no? 😭 Then we asked again and he brought a cup of boiling hot water, and we asked him to take back the extra glass of ice water since the table space was small and he said no again? 😭 When our waitress arrived to take our order, we made it clear multiple times that we are vegetarian, and asked her to recommend us a vegetarian appetizer. She first suggested a salad with kimchi, and then I reminded her that the kimchi most likely had fish sauce. She then recommended us the fried peppers, which we then ordered and ate. It tasted a bit weird so we asked them what it was and they said fish???? 😭😭 When it was already made clear multiple times that we are vegetarian and cannot eat fish? We sent it back obviously and asked to speak to the manager and she said she would take the peppers off the bill…. I thought that was obvious given the fact that we barely ate it and sent it back? There didn’t seem to be much care for the fact that we are completely vegetarian and ate fish because of their mistake. We ordered tofu dolsot and tofu curry udon as well… the dolsot was flavorful and had a good amount of tofu but the udon was just.. bad. Super bland and slightly overcooked. We ate the dolsot but left the udon mostly untouched because it was not good, at the end the manager said our bill would be waived which was a nice gesture as we only ate the dolsot and were poisoned with meat. Overall, I don’t anticipate returning because of their mistake and the bad service, although one of their dishes was good.
The raving reviews are probably fair, but what’s also fair is taking off some terrible selections from the menu. I ordered the deep fried french toast..from the pictures, wouldn’t you think it was a pancake? Sure tasted like one! And for $16 definitely not worth it. Honestly just happy with a regular French toast. Also got the Korean fried chicken, it’s ok. If there’s any reason I’d come back, it would be the millionaires bacon (but just half the serving).. excited to get my arteries clogged from that bacon
Eggs were (unintentionally) undercooked and smelled like fish. Service was decent. Vibe was decent. A bit loud, but otherwise pleasant. The brussel hash was okay. The poached eggs on it were good, but the dish was overall unremarkable. The fried French toast was mediocre. Doesn't really taste or look like French toast. Cappuccino was also mediocre, didn't bother finishing it. Side note, the bathroom was very clean and smelled nice.
It was over 2 years ago that I ate there and never wanted to go back. The server was rude to us for no reason. I didn’t really understand why he was rolling his eyes or looked annoyed when he was writing down our order. I guess they don’t really care about their service since it’s a college town and it’s usually students who dine there.
