Super friendly and homely! Store is very clean and a ton of really unique signs, clothing, seasonal decore etc… and…. My favorite part; the ice cream/coffee bar! I’ve been coming to this small shop since they’ve opened and will continue to support them. Chocolate Malt shake 10/10 Butter Pecan shake (seasonal) 10/10 Service was impeccable with heart to heart conversation. GO SUPPORT THE SMALL TOWN businesses! I want to see them stay in business.
What could be better than an old-fashioned soda fountain? The staff were helpful, pleasant, and made us delicious treats. There's a wide variety of unique gifts to shop from with something in all price ranges.

Haven't tried the food, but this is an adorable little shop with all the curios you might need when driving through Chester. One of the only places in town where you can get post cards, and they have a huge bar ready to make your favorite coffee drink or ice cream
What a joy to step back in time and experience a thoughtful update all in one visit! It’s been over 30 years since I last saw the soda fountain in Chester, and walking into Rusty Chandelier brought back all the nostalgia—while impressing me with some much-needed updates that make the space even more inviting and functional. I loved seeing the classic soda fountain still holding court, now complemented by a dedicated ordering station, a convenient pick-up area, and plenty of comfy seating for guests to relax and enjoy. Coming from the city and working in North Lake Tahoe, I half-expected boutique pricing (especially in a seasonal vacation town), but I was pleasantly surprised. My mother-in-law and I couldn’t stop grabbing treasures—home decor, gifts, little finds—and we were both stunned at how reasonable everything was when we checked out. It felt like shopping the way it should be. After we shopped to our heart’s content, we stopped at the soda fountain/coffee bar to celebrate our finds. Jody recommended the affogato when we couldn’t make up our minds, and wow—it was divine. That little sweet pick-me-up was the cherry on top of a perfect visit. The store itself is beautifully decorated, well-organized, and thoughtfully laid out. I especially appreciated the changes designed to streamline the space during busier times—it’s clear that Jody and her team are thinking ahead and working hard. We were greeted warmly the moment we walked in and felt welcome the entire time. I’ve seen a few cranky reviews lately, and frankly, I don’t get it. If you’ve never worked in hospitality or the service industry, maybe don’t rush to critique. Creating a space like this—and running it well—is no easy task. Jody and her team are doing a fantastic job, and it shows in every detail. I live about two hours away, but I’ll definitely be back! I’m especially excited to check out some of the upcoming classes and the holiday decor as the seasons change. Rusty Chandelier is the kind of place you want to share with your friends—and I plan to do just that 🤗!!
used to be the drug store back in the day. the soda fountain is still going. great gift shop. relived some childhood memories. the owner is 3rd generation Chester.
We’ve been visiting this soda fountain for nearly 50 years, first as Lassen drug co, then Lassen gift co, and now as the rusty chandelier. Change can be hard but they have done a great job preserving the heart of the soda fountain. Ask about the wood on the walls, it’s a lovely full circle story. The merchandise is cute and charming and elegant. They’ve made the space feel so open and warm with a table to sit at, chairs and couches- it’s a fabulous continuation of one of my favorite lake Almanor spots!
We have been coming to Lake Almanor for 15 years and love this place for shakes and malts. Got to check out the new store today... Its super cute and the workers are all friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we got to experience a real life "Karen". I felt so bad for the young lady working the counter. She was very patient with a rude lady.
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Love their matcha latte, it’s the only place in town to get one! My favorite spot to stop in when I’m visiting family in the area. Grab a latte and go sit by the lake and listen to the ducks!
Stopped here for coffee on our way out of town. Best coffee I’ve had in a long time. Excellent selections of coffee drinks & milkshakes, plus a couple of fresh tasty pastries. Nice shop as well!
Great store. The new owners have done an amazing job of remodeling the whole store. Enjoy taking my family in. Staff always greets and is very helpful. Looking forward to our next return. They have amazing coffees.
She gladly got us coffee right at closing time! very very good iced lattes
Great shakes and trinkets. We had a wonderful chat with the family that owns it as we enjoyed our shakes at the fountain bar. A must visit when in Chester, CA.

Very cute place! Lots of gifts, toys etc. Also had homemade tallow products. Super cool. Good coffee.
Good place to get ice cream or a real malted milkshake! Huge selection of gifts and toys and decor; but they also have an ice cream counter.

We recently visited this coffee shop for the second time, hoping for a better experience than our first visit. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met. Upon entering, we were disappointed to find that no one greeted or welcomed us . This lack of acknowledgment made us feel unwelcome right from the start. To add to our disappointment, the barista immediately began informing us of the items that were not being served that day. While I understand that menu limitations are sometimes inevitable, the way it was conveyed to us felt negative and almost as if we were being scolded for coming in. As a paying customer who genuinely wants to support local businesses, it can be quite frustrating to be treated as a burden rather than a valued customer. Customer service plays a crucial role in any establishment, especially in the service industry. It is essential for businesses, particularly local ones, to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their customers. Sadly, this coffee shop fell short in this aspect. I believe that a simple greeting and a friendly attitude can go a long way in making customers feel appreciated and eager to return. While I understand that every business has its off-days, it is disheartening to have a consistently underwhelming experience. As a result, I am hesitant to give this coffee shop another chance in the future. I hope that they take customer feedback into consideration and work towards improving their overall hospitality and customer service.
Stopped in as a family to check out the shop and although it had some cute home decor items and a coffee/ice cream shop inside, the people working did not make us feel very welcome. We bought a couple small items and it seemed like we put them out having to wait on us. Unfortunately, I would have loved to have purchased more had the customer service been better.

Went for shakes and malts 30 minutes before close and were turned away (unless we wanted scooped ice cream) with looks of disgust from the staff. We used to LOVE this place and the new staff has made us feel unwelcome multiple times.

We just went into see if they had milk shakes. The owner was very rude. This is the second time she has given an attitude to us. The drinks are over priced and over rated anyway.
I gave you three chances to redeem yourselves, but to no avail. Very rude people that run/own your business. I will never go back! Recently my aunt was in town a had commented how rude the people were in your store. I forgot to warn her about your store, so she found out the hard way. She also will never go back to your store. I suggest you chance your attitude if you want to stay in business.
Our family used to love this place but since it has changed ownership, every time we stop in we experience rude customer service from the staff. It feels as if we are a burden to be there. No one smiles, no one even greets you. It’s so disappointing, sad and frankly it’s frustrating to be treated such a way when you’re a paying customer. We made our final stop in yesterday in hopes for change, kindness, or simply smile to our children - nothing, same old story. We will not be back and we hope to see things change in this sweet, small town of Chester.

After standing at the soda fountain for several minutes, with two girls behind the counter, neither one of them asked if I needed anything. Needless to say. I left.
