First time in a Black Bear Diner and I wasn't disappointed. I went First with my family for dinner about an hour or so before closing and the food was great!! Our server was very helpful and patient with us. The following morning went in for breakfast and again very happy with the food and service. Even though they were extremely busy everyone working did amazing.

I love their biscuits so fluffy and soft. Fast service, everytime I come here the waiters are always on top of things, they enjoy doing their job and they are never understaffed.

Luz provided excellent service! The biscuits were fluffy and warm, the egg as were cooked to a perfect over-medium, and the sausage was delicious. Will be coming back for sure.

The food was good the portions were good. I was a bit confused about what I ordered but it was all good just the same so I didn't ask any questions I was just hungry.The bear theme was very interesting. Just a bit dangerous. What would I do if a bare came to life. Or an actual bear came in thinking these were his or hers relatives. You need to consider these things.

10 for 10. I get it now. I understand why people come here all the time. The breakfast is phenomenal. I will come back again on a weekday afternoon. No wait.

This is my first time coming here and the food is great! I first thought the wait time for the food was a bit lengthy, but once the food was served, it was well worth the wait as I was very pleased with the presentation of the food, I ordered the black pepper salmon and I definitely recommend it as it’s served with plenty of vegetables and the sauce paired fairly well with the salmon. I would definitely come back to this location as they offer other interesting food options and the staff and atmosphere were great as well.

Miss Brenda our server was amazing, the coffee was always full and she anticipated our needs before we even knew we needed anything. The food was delicious and plentiful I got the Grizz and it came with everything: French toast, bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, and hashbrowns! We also got the eggs Benedict with added avocado, that holinday sauce is soo good.

Delicious food with big portions that make it worth their price! The food is delicious, the staff is accommodating & nice, and the price is good compared to the big portions they give you! I would say if going with someone else, get something to share & see if that fills you up. I got VERY full with the Chips & Fish that I got. They also have A LOT of options. Everything is served all day, breakfast, lunch, & diner. Really a lovely place. Will come here again. P.S. They are following social distancing rules very well.

It was good. The time for the table was pretty accurate. And the food is good. The server, Maria, was really nice and patient and kept checking on our table even though the place was packed. She made sure to check on all her customers in her section.

My Father worked for Mr Norms and that's Thee well known Norms Restaurants, he worked for Mr Norms on his VERY 1st Norms off La Cienega in LA, Worked for him for 20-30 years. Long story short, Norms Restaurants went from Family owned to Company owned, quality went down and how they made fresh food and bought packaged ruined my childhood exp. Such a great place for a family outing. Good food selection for breakfast lunch and dinner. Staff is fast and will help you quick. It is pricy but good if you want to eat out. I do recommend coming here. I got the classic French toast with bacon as well as a bowl of chili with corn bread. Really good.

I was in the mood for some American homestyle food and nothing is more homestyle than pot roast! Look at the size of this! This is just one meal, folks! And the desert? It's huge too! I had to take my salad and desert home, because I was too full! So was it good? The pot roast was a bit dry, but otherwise it was good, not salty, and the apple pie was delicious. The service was fantastic, the menu is huge and the prices are great too!

This place is a gem. As soon as you walk in you'll see all their merchandise. The stuffed bears are adorable. Breakfast is delicious! Big servings, so if you're not planning on taking any home look for the "little less breakfast" options on the menu. The menu is in the style of a newspaper 📰 which is pretty cool the first time I saw it. Lunch menu is great. The chicken club sandwich is my favorite for lunch with their sauces that will be on the table. Haven't tried their dinner yet, but everything looks so good. Diner style seats if your going to dine alone. Plenty of tables and booths for any size group. Awesome table service, friendly staff, nicely decorated. Always full on the weekends. It's worth the wait I promise! Restrooms are located straight ahead from the entrance. Get the app to see how the plates look, the menu at the restaurant do not have pictures.

We are in LA this week to catch a Dodgers game and decided to get some breakfast here yesterday .. it was a great dining experience from the bear decor outside and inside to the little gift shop set to the bear theme of the restaurant to the friendly service, and the taste and amount of food served .. my wife LOVED the potatoes as they were seasoned "perfectly" .. my wife even bought me a PAPA BEAR shirt to remind us of the meal .. we wished that there was a location in the Atlanta area

although it was a bit of a wait on a sunday afternoon, the food was very good and worth the wait. we ordered 3 different main dishes for lunch and each of us were very pleased with the taste and portion sizes. i ordered the chicken and waffles with eggs and it was delicious. i really liked being able to have the french toast as well. we are looking forward to our next visit.

Black Bear Diner in Downey is just great. You can have breakfast all day and they have some great sandwiches, bottomless sodas, and wonderful desserts. The place is clean and ever so comfortable. The staff is great. We always love our server. We have been a few times. They know the menu and are pretty fast, but they don't rush you out. The diner is super cute and you will be comfortable here. I love their coffee. On Friday nights they have a special, hand-breaded fish fry and it is great. The pieces are long with just the right amount of coating and never overcooked. The fries are also great. We love their breakfast. Their biscuits and gravy are great and the biscuits are always fresh. You can have that as a side or they come with some of the meals. The Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak and eggs is cooked the way you want it and it is a lot of food. I sometimes share it and order something smaller for the table. You will love their Big Bacon Breakfast. I think it comes with 6 pieces of bacon so I always have some to take home to my dogs. It has everything you want and more. Try this one first. You can dine there and you should because it is fun, but they also have delivery and take away. You will love this place.

It always hits. Theres not much to be said. It’s a corp chain that serves breakfast and dinner style food. That doesn’t mean it’s not good. It’s awesome. Food is always amazing, staff is always friendly. Always hits the spot for me.

Me and my husband were waiting in ihop parking lot and he said let’s choose somewhere else and I’m so glad we did. I think that was the best breakfast I’ve had ever. Shout to Kyle for the best service ever! I first came to this location last year for my birthday and it was awful service nobody was even attending to us we basically sat ourselves down and our waitress never wished me a happy birthday even though I wore all this stuff that said it was the day of and anywho that left a really bad taste in our mouth so we said we’d never come back to this location however almost 2 years later I chose to come back with my best friend (the first time was with my mother) and omg it was exceptional! Both times the food was amazing but good service really goes an along way for me as I think it does for most customers and let me tell you, our waiter Kyle was the absolute BEST! he was friendly, attended to our every need, came and checked on us multiple times, thanked us when we chose to donate to st.jude and was just an amazing guy overall! From his welcoming smile to his friendly demeanor he was the best waiter I’ve had in a while at any place and the fact that it was here of all locations made it that much better and made me so happy I chose to come back after all this time and give this location another chance. Thank you to him for a lovely time we cannot wait to be back!

They're so busy they don't have time to clean the floors, so careful not to step in food, or crayons, under the table. But the food is delish. Pancakes, sausage and bacon are the best. Staff is friendly, attentive to refills. I had a kids meals, they're accommodating to people of a certain age, I'm going on 57 in a few weeks and my appetite is not what it used to be. So yay for being considerate to people's needs.

A classic American diner with numerous locations, perfect for a quick breakfast and a caffeine boost. Fast service, and the omelette was diner-perfect. The highlight: unlimited coffee.

Host wasn’t so pleasant. However Maria our server was awesome! Friendly, professional and helpful made suggestions and very attentive. Thank you for your excellent service. Food is fresh and tasty. There is sometimes a wait Due to the popularity of this place. But it's well worth the wait. Today I ordered a breakfast sandwich which I changed the brioche bun for sourdough and it was a bit dry... Next time I'll order it the way they have it on the menu.

I can't really rate the restaurant itself as I wasn't able to eat there. It was raining and the outdoor seating was shut down because of it. But I did order food to go and it was great. I ordered the Grizz which is pancakes or toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, and hash brown. Man I'd it a lot of food and delicious as well. Also ordered the chicken tender meal. They were all great. The inside looked roomy and they had a store inside to buy merchandise along with a jukebox. Overall great.

Turkey was dry. I ordered the same dish at the Long Beach location and this one did not come out the same. I didn't give a low star rating, because the service when I pick up my meal was great. (But placing the order over the phone was difficult, that girl just did not know what she was doing. Look and study the menu girl! You should know your stuff, not place me on hold for every question) My turkey was a ticker cut at the long Beach location, which I liked, and the bread was alot better. At this location, as you can see in my photos, its a real thin cut. So I'm giving a 4 star for effort. Not for the food but for effort. My take out included a mini brownie which I thought was nice. Its the thought that counts because the brownie was dry as hell. Didn't even finish it. No complaints about portion, as other reviews had mentioned. Huge portions. Just wish it was better tasting food. Sorry owner, I will most likely stick to the long Beach location even though you are closer. I know you seem to be responsive when it comes to reviews, so therefore its a 4 star for the effort.

Very welcoming upon arrival. Old school menu that looks like a news paper a good touch. Blend of music from country to 50's rock. We had the veggie scramble, waffles . French toast,and the country potatoes. The potatoes were good but could've been cooked a bit more. Veggie scramble flavors were good.They just didn't blend with each item. Waffle was huge and fresh toast smaller than expected. Overall was good first time and would recommend this place to anyone.

I usually don’t have a problem with this place but lately, the kitchen staff has their music so loud, you can’t hear the ambient music that the restaurant provides. But, today, I learned that they recycle napkins because as soon as we got seated, we were served our coffee and utensils and given napkins with strawberry syrup/jam. 🤮🤬. There was food under the table from previous diners. Management isn’t doing enough basic training with these ladies. It’s like corporate isn’t aware that customer service is simply not a priority here. At the end of our visit, we found out the waitress was serving us regular coffee instead of decaf the whole time, and she never brought out our sides. Just horrible. The food was good, the service was OK, the delay on one of the plates bothered me a little. When we arived there was a 25-45 min wait, so we waited. I love that you can see your position for a table on the link they send you. They brought out my husband's and my plate first, my daughters plate was delayed. By the time they brought her plate out my husband was pretty much done eating, you can see on one of the pictures I took. Other than that it was good.

Went late for coffee and dessert. Ordered the berry bear claw. Its not good at all. Had to press cut through it with a fork. Once eaten it had that distinct microwaved chewy kinda old pastry taste. Had to force it down and chug water. We asked the waitress and reluctantly she confirmed that they are kept cold and microwaved before being served. Worse meal ever. expensive, tasteless and portions too small for the price. The turkey cutlets were old. Never going back. We also got forks full of gunk and service was poor.

Black Bear Diner used to be a great place to eat. Now, there is no oversight of the servers. My party and I waited over 40 minutes and our food never arrived. We told the female server and she could care less we waited that long. We walked out and we went to Pops Cafe instead. Advice to owner: you need oversee the servers and retrain the servers on how to provide better customer service.

This place has cooks who don't know how to cook steaks. About a month ago, I ordered a medium rare steak, and twice they brought it to me Well Done. Today I returned to give them a second chance and ordered the steak and eggs special. They told us at 9:00 AM that the special was already sold out. This is the kind of place that attracts customers with specials and then doesn't deliver. This is called bad advertising, bad management, bad employees, and terrible service. I will never return to this place.

The hostess was very rude and never smiled and looked like she did not want to be there. Jesus, our server was very nice and friendly he made sure to check up on us frequently and made sure our drinks were always full. The food was delicious. The only problem is when they sat us down, the woodwork was thick with dust, and that was very gross. The server Jesus made the experience so much better, but because of the dust I will never return.
