La Flamenca

Furia Flamenca is great fun to watch. Estela and Daniel work hard to put up beautiful shows for Furia Flamenca. And if you are a student, they include their students once a year. They help instill the love of flamenco to company dancers, students and interested individuals by organizing dance and cante workshops with exciting Spanish flamenco teachers. Always a wonderful experience.

I have been taking lessons with Estela for almost two years now and have been impressed with the quality of the instruction I've received. Estela is an excellent dance teacher and mentor who gets to know each of her students to craft individual approaches to her instruction. She is patient and thoughtful, and serous about her craft. It is not only about technique and choreography, which are important, but Estela also covers the history and context of flamenco. I've also had an opportunity to join master classes with visiting Flamenco artists from Spain which Estela organizes. Whether you are an absolute beginner, or a former trained dancer like myself, there is a place for you at furia!

Furia Flamenca is the source of authentic and dynamic Flamenco in the our Nation's capital from the Millenium Stage to the Spanish Embassy, each performance leaves you asking for more. Estela is the gift that keeps on giving and as a teacher, she is engaging and always finds a way to take her students to a higher level, while thoroughly enjoying the process. Ole and thank you to Estela Velez de Paredez, Daniel Paredez and Furia Flamenca for sharing the passion and beauty of Flamenco with all of us!

I’ve been taking flamenco classes with Furia Flamenca for several years and have really enjoyed myself. The instruction is positive and encouraging, showing you how to dance and, equally importantly, showing you can do it if you are doubting yourself. I am always happy when I leave class as I have not only learned, building on my skills, but I have spent time in a friendly and welcoming environment. Both the instructors and the other students make classes enjoyable. Finally, I have learned a lot about flamenco dance and technique as the instruction is always clear and specific while being fun.

Washington is fortunate to boast its own award-winning Flamenco troupe that brings exciting, technically brilliant, authentic, and at times cutting edge shows to venues prestigious and accessible throughout the area. I have seen many of Furia Flamenca's performances and each one had gusto and attention to detail that left me with a grin and admiration. I have found their classes equally rewarding. Furia Flamenca's dance instruction treats the art seriously and with realistic goals, but the studio atmosphere is one of enthusiasm, fun, and mutual respect. Oh, yes, it also challenges both the mind and the body.
