Very cute restaurant and service was excellent. I had a chile Colorado enchilada lunch plate (single item) amd their colorsdo saice is delicious. I thought it was very cost effective as well, with tip $18. They have great specials for happy hour, lunch, and daily drinks. I'll have to come back for those specials for sure. Definitly reminds me of the good ol days where you'd have good food and good specials to look forward to. I didn't get a photo of my lunch, I forgot because it looked so good that I just dove in.
We had such a good experience here! Perfect for families, the kids’ plates are great, and the sopas were delicious. We went for my grandpa’s birthday on a weekday and it was nice and quiet, so we had a big table all to ourselves, which made it even better. Everyone enjoyed their food and the relaxed atmosphere.
Tonight was my husband and I first time ever trying Javi’s. I’m super picky about Mexican food and the food didn’t disappoint. Drinks were strong and delicious!! Our server Gabriela was so attentive. She gave one of the best customer service I’ve ever received anywhere. Definitely will be back this Thursday with my family for my birthday!!
My Wife and I have been here several times and every time everything is always fantastic, food is top notch and service impeccable, we've eaten Mexican food everywhere and Javi is the best! Last visit on August 12th 2025 and our waitress Patricia is AMAZING! Professional and friendly, we are going to be a loyal customer
Im from San Jose but Ive been to Javis two times already. Plan to stop by whenever I visit, when I can at least. The Foos is really good. Its a fun atmospher and the service is the BEST! The two servers Ive had diring my visits always check the table and check on their guest. Stop by Javis when you can.
So my sisters and I came to eat and boy what i nice surprise both plates were fantastic and large shared one plate that was spicy then my plate was not spicy. We so want to go back customer service was top notch they covered each other making sure we always had what we needed great experience our waitress was fabulous, to say the least I wish I could remember her name!! She was GREAT!!! YOU CAN TELL SHE LIKED WHAT SHE DID!! THAT TO USE MADE IT EVEN MORE SPECIAL FOR OUR TIME BEFORE THE mariachi concert began. Cant wait to go back.
Excellent customer service! All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is great, spacious with lots of seating and a homey feel. Mario went above and beyond, checking in often and provided the best experience I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The Pollo en creama is a must! Absolutely delicious as is the guacamole dip and the fried ice cream. The food is tasty, fresh, and good portions. Decent prices for quality. Overall, I am extremely happy! I would highly recommend this location and will be back!
Food was very tasty I especially thought the chicken and shrimp were good. The chorizo was not as good as I've tasted elsewhere. And the steak was cut to thin into strips like beacon. -1 star Service was great no complaints. The atmosphere was pleasant and I specially liked seating my self at the table of choice. +1 star.
This is the first time I have ever been to this restaurant since I've lived in Modesto for over 20 years and to my regret I should have came to this restaurant far sooner because the food here is absolutely delicious... chicken burrito I had was succulent and had a variety of tastes plus the chicken was not dry but moist no. I don't know what they're doing here at this restaurant but it is absolutely five star... I highly require and recommend anyone to come and eat and dine at this restaurant in Modesto California... God bless you and have a very beautiful day and thank you for taking the time to read this post.
We got to sit outside and dine on superb food, but honestly, our waiter Ethan M. made the whole experience totally worth coming. He kept our glasses full, the chips and condiments to start with coming, then the food immediately after. Totally wonderful food and big portions - worth what we paid. Will definitely come again! Thanks Ethan!!!
Changed the tostada tortillas. Texture and flavor was not very good. Bean dip was also changed and wasn't tasty at all.
I had this restaurant recommended to me but I never got the chance to try it. The restaurant has good lighting from inside and beautiful flowers by the window which gives good atmosphere. The bar area is dim light and it looks good too. The service is amazing no doubt. The food came out really fast. The shrimp with cream was delicious. I tried chicken milanesa, which is my favorite. I felt the chicken was super thin cut, you could almost didn't find the meat but the bread taste, I was left half full at the end. Maybe they made it thin so it can cook fast or to save some money on chicken, regardless it wasn't fair price to portion ratio.
I was shocked and offended to see a Mexican restaurant decorated with Spanish statues and symbols. As someone who understands the history, this is not just a matter of design, it’s deeply disrespectful. Spain colonized Mexico for centuries, during which Indigenous peoples and early Mexicans were tortured, enslaved, and killed. The Spanish destroyed temples, banned native languages, and tried to erase entire cultures. For a restaurant representing Mexican identity to use Spanish imagery is painful and inappropriate. It’s the equivalent of honoring colonizers in a space meant to celebrate those who suffered and survived their oppression. Mexican culture was built in resistance to that violence, it deserves to be represented with authenticity and pride, not through the lens of those who tried to destroy it. I truly hope the owners take this to heart and re-evaluate their décor. If they want to honor Mexican heritage, they should highlight Indigenous art, Mexican traditions, and the beauty of postcolonial culture not the imagery of colonizers.
Really disappointing experience. I had never been here before and was visiting family who lives in the area. I passed by it after Starbucks and grew curious about it. My brother's fiance warned me not to try it when I asked her about it but I didn't listen. I should've. I ordered a chicken enchilada with green sauce and a side of refried beans and a chicken taco and glass bottled cola to go. This did seem like the kind of restaurant you should just sit in for, as it did have nice dim lighting and a good ambience to it. But I wasn't in the mood for eating out and just wanted to eat in my car with my daughter as we were on our way to somewhere else. The girl at the front was friendly and polite so two stars . But I asked TWICE if there was a fork and she said both times yes without even checking. There wasn't! I had to literally walk to the Starbucks after parking by America's best to get a plastic fork. When they should have provided one . Then the refried beans came in a Styrofoam container. It was a big huge thing of refried beans. Idk who needs that many freaking beans but never in my life have I ever ordered to go food from a Mexican restaurant with that much beans and also who puts refried beans in a Styrofoam container that can easily leak and open? Every other place I've gotten Mexican takeout from gives it to you in a sealed plastic round container with a matching lid and sometimes even seran wrap on top. Well the Styrofoam container leaked out when I opened it as they gave me way way too much beans in the first place. It got all over my car ( see attached photos) now I have a mess to clean. I was hoping my chicken enchilada would be good well tha chicken was dry and way overcooked and tasteless. The green sauce was mediocre and lacked spice. The salsa on the side was pretty bland too . Maybe it's better eating inside idk but I'm not from here and I can get way better Mexican takeout in Solano county where I live. Long story short no fork provided with takeout despite my asking twice , overcooked chicken in the enchilada, mediocre sauce, and horrible messy overfilled container of beans that left a mess and permanent stains on my car front passenger seat that I'll now have to scrub. Thanks 😡 So I paid 23 dollars for no fork, messy beans that left a permanent mess in my car, and flavorless salsa and ovecooked dry chicken in the enchilada. If you like spending 20 plus dollars for this type of experience, then this is your place. Have at it. Worse Mexican take out ever. I'll never go here again and should've listened to others saying how bad it was . Don't know how they've been in business this long
