Preguntas frecuentes sobre The Blue Shrimp
I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting, with a warm and welcoming decor that set the perfect mood. **Service:** The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring our glasses were never empty and that we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Salute to Polo. 🇨🇦
We have loved The Blue Shrimp since our first visit 3 years ago! We make it a standard stop every time we visit Puerto Vallarta. Best piña colada! Great all around! If you love 80's music....you will be singing in your seat! Our server in November was Jennifer. She was an absolute treat! We enjoyed her service so much we are going to request her when we are back just before Christmas.
Happened upon this restaurant on our recent trip. It was excellent. The Tuna Tartare and Chile Rellano were our favorite meals there but everything is good. Cocktails were expertly blended. Service is excellent and everyone makes you feel like family. To Martine, Alejandro, Paulo and the rest of the staff, thank you for making our time there so much fun. We will see you all in Apri🎉🍸🍹🍾🥂💃🇲🇽l
We come here alot when in PV. Enrique has severed us at the bar now for 2 years and is a great guy. Super attentive and makes an amazing margarita. Jesus we met this trip for the first time and is probably the friendliest person you will ever meet. All of the staff really is amazing. Right off the beach makes it a great location. Had dinner to celebrate my birthday and everyone made it very special.
Dinner on the beach—does it get any better? My mom and I went to celebrate my birthday, and everything was incredible. The service was top-notch, and the guacamole was made fresh right in front of us—packed with flavor! The fried calamari and Peruvian ceviche were chef’s kiss. We both ordered sea bass—mine was the fresh fillet adobado style, and it was amazing. My mom had the fresh fillet a lo macho style and loved it just as much. I highly recommend checking this place out!
Food and staff are wonderful. The atmosphere would also be wonderful if they could somehow stop the vendors from approaching you at your table from the beach. I know it's not the establishments fault but did effect our dinner. I'd definitely go again though because the food and service was excellent. And the cocktails were also delicious.

Great place on the beach to watch the sunset. Food and service are great.
Food was delicious, Daniel was an excellent server, polite, courteous very attentive. The atmosphere overlooking the ocean was also very fun.
Very nice Staff, great food.. nice beach. I travel here and visit the blue shrimp regulary. All staff very nice.. i real enjoy.
Great atmosphere, friendly service, great drinks.
Great atmosphere, friendly service, great drinks.
PEDRO went out of his way to make us a skinny margarita! Lovely music, right on the beach, great vibe.
Even though we are kosher, they made us the best skinny margarita that we could drink!!!
Sebastian was amazing! The food was great! Love the atmosphere! You will not be disappointed! I had the jumbo shrimp! I also had the Cesar salad and they make in front of you! Fish tacos were great!
The food was delicious, wonderful selection of seafood, the table side Caesar salad experience was great, and the service was perfect. Jenifer was attentive (and hilarious). And the oceanside vibe …
The dinners are very good and nicely plated. We enjoyed sitting by the railing, still inside but close to the beach. If you sit on the beach you will have vendors bugging you too buy souvenirs. The staff is courteous and very friendly. We were lucky enough to see a whale and the sun set.
The blue shrimp is an iconic restaurant. We had a great time there truly. However, it is pricier than some of the other restaurants in PV. Food generally was okayy, I’d just say stay away from the Shrimp/ Chicken Fajitas, I found it to have a bad taste and the portion was a bit large for any one person but small for two people. Otherwise the food and drinks were okayy, not the best, but just okayy. The service was good and the atmosphere was welcoming, and beautiful (we sat on the beach front). The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
We love Blue Shrimp. Food is great. The service is phenomenal. Our waiter on 12/24/2025 was incredible. The view and atmosphere is incredible. Worth the high price. Family of 4 the cost was high but it was the holiday. We get it. What we don't like is the owner giving a ridiculous exchange rate on US dollar to peso. The exchange right now is 18.5 pesos to 1 US dollar. The owner of Blue Shrimp only gives you a 16 peso to 1 US dollar to make more money for himself. It didn't sit right with us. If you go do not use your card. Bring cash!
I had clam chowder soup and lobster enchiladas, best meal I had during my 7 days trip! Absolutely going back. The chef did that. I went for lunch so the restaurant was fairly empty so I’m not sure what it’s like in peak season or with a full house. My greeter and servers were very friendly and attentive. My only issue was the drinks price. $350 for Aperol spritz that I’ve been paying $140-$150 for at all other restaurants and it didn’t taste as good. So I may not do drinks when I return but the food … so good 👌🏾
Great salesmanship, fun server with a great energetic personality. He truly made the experience extra special. Some parts of the dining experience were strange like the bagged purchased tortilla chips and crackers served with the table side guac. Sea food was fresh and perfectly cooked. The blue shrimp was to die for, incredible. Cocktails could use some work to be elevated but overall a really enjoyable experience.
Highly overrated and overpriced. Very disappointing with both food and service. Definitely would NOT go back. They make a big hoopla about making the Caesar salad at your table. Very mediocre sal…

We had dinner at Blue Shrimp in Puerto Vallarta. It is a very good restaurant with an excellent location, great ambiance, and attentive service. The food was good and offered a wide variety of options. The service truly stood out and was exceptional throughout the evening. That said, the prices are noticeably higher compared to other restaurants in the area. We ended up paying approximately 1,500 to 2,000 pesos more than what we paid for dinner at other restaurants during our stay in Puerto Vallarta. Overall, it is a good dining experience, but the pricing is on the steep side relative to similar nearby options.
I've seen this place on our daily walks and wanted to try it since last year. ATMOSPHERE: Located beach side on the Malecon, it's open air with lanai and indoor seating. There was a salad bar available but didn't see it offered on the menu. The place was fairly empty as we dined an hour before closing. MENU: Soups, shrimp, fish, lobster, steak, Mexican fare. FOOD: New England Clam Chowder Horrible! It's as if they threw clams into a blender with condensed cream of mushroom soup. Yup, that bad. Caesar Salad Nothing to write home about, and over-priced for the portion size. Guacamole One of the evenings highlights. It's made fresh at your table so a home-cooking lesson was learned lol. The guac was good but the chips were stale, either from sitting out but hopefully not because of recycling between guests. We let our server know and she was more than happy to bring fresh ones. Packaged tortillas also accompanied. Jumbo Shrimp Oh, my gout sure loved this one! I opted for the smaller of the two for health's sake, done in garlic shrimp style which is garlic & butter. The 5 shrimp were prepared perfectly and came with steamed rice and veggies. Very nice. Grilled Filet Mignon with Shrimp My spouse's choice. It was just an okay dish. The steak came out rare instead of medium rare, and included 3 jumbo shrimp, steamed veggies and a baked potato. Kahlua & Milk Compliments of the house, in which we both took a sip of but no more. What a waste of booze. They should ask before serving IMO. SERVICE: Hostess service was average. Male server was professional, friendly, and attentive. OVERALL: Pricey compared to other restaurants but you are beach front. After several experiences this year and last with restaurants on the beach, I'd recommend seeking the less crowded joints in town. Here, you get the view, but the cuisine is what matters for us.
The location is fantastic, beautiful beach views. The food was disappointing. We ordered the jumbo coconut shrimp. They were dry and HEAVILY breaded. The fish taco were also dry and lacked flavour. Very little fish, lots of shredded cabbage. The shrimp queso fondito was mediocre. Service was fantastic, very friendly staff. It's really unfortunate that the food was bad when they're in such a beautiful location. I would recommend this place for drinks and go elsewhere for food.
I’ve passed by this place many times but never stopped in until now. It enjoys a prime beachfront location with great views and a charming, tourist-friendly Mexican design that works well in this setting. The service is efficient, and the staff is welcoming and friendly. As for the food, it’s decent but not particularly memorable. The taco de jaiba was quite good, while the seafood pasta was just average. I’m sure there are some standout dishes on the menu, but overall, if you’re coming for the view, you’ll be pleased. If food is your top priority, you might want to explore other options.
Paid the same price as the Capella, yet the food was 3/5 (I had a dish Zarateado, my gf had the lobster enchiladas). Lobster was way overcooked while the tortilla was stiff. Service was 3.5 (my s…
I feel badly for having to leave such a negative review, but this experience was terribly disappointing. The location right on the beach is stellar…but the Zona Romantica location does not have the tables in the pool that are so “viral.” Maybe the Nuevo location? The servers here tried very hard to make this a fine dining experience…and the menu prices certainly think it is, but it is anything but. 1. Daiquiris: Not sure if they had any alcohol whatsoever. One never even made it to the table. 2. Surf and Turf taco appetizer: Glad we ordered this since 2 out of the 3 meals we ordered, were inedible. The shrimp they’re supposed to be so famous for was dull flavor, though. 3. Whole Red Snapper: The only entree that was enjoyed and could recommend. 4. Lobster Enchiladas: Lobster so finely shredded it was barely distinguishable as lobster with a strange smokey sauce that overshadowed any other flavor and was out of place. 5. Carne Asada: The steak was barely able to be cut with a knife it was so tough and carried such an acrid smoke flavor I actually had to spit out my one and only bite. It was like sucking on charcoal. Lastly, this dinner for two cost over $200 USD—robbery for the quality.
