This was my first time at Andy & Yu's. I was surprised how every dish we ordered was so tasty. I'll definitely be going back!
Fantastic service and really amazing food. Server was really attentive and understanding of our three year old daughter's love of wonton soup! So great we'd drive out here again just for this place!
We ordered take out for Christmas Eve and our entire group loved the food. Thank you. We will be back!
Asian food was very good, service was a little slow. Food was cooked perfect, vegetables were cooked crunchy the way they are supposed to be cooked. Worth the wait. Try it !! Price was a little on the high side, but very good.
Outstanding meal and service. We had a table for 8 plus a grandson in a high chair. We ordered multiple dishes, all were very tasty and well prepared.
Our group of six enjoyed a wonderful lunch together yesterday at Andy & Yu's. The varied lunch menu was delightful, with excellent meals served. We will return soon! Thank you, Andy and all, for a delicious and delightful experience!
Nice restaurant with good food, right in the heart of downtown Pleasanton. We have had lunch there a number of times. The food is always good, and the atmosphere is quiet, which I prefer.
It's really nice getting excellent Chinese food that's not a chain. Everything I've ordered here has been excellent. It's one of my go-to restaurants in Pleasanton. The Peking chicken is so delicious.
Andy and Yu's is a fine dining restaurant. A family friendly place. The portion sizes are good. We always love the Kung Pao item. Soups are a favorite with kids.
By far the best sit down restraunt I've ever eaten at. The food is always extremely hot and fresh. We also appreciate how sensitive they are to food allergies. They are so accommodating with gluten free options and their menu lists gluten free items. Will be coming here for many years to come. I have many fond memories of dining here.
Beautiful decor, clean and the staff was super friendly. The food was delicious! We ordered four dishes plus soups. Then finished off with ice cream (the green tea ice cream was soo good). Overall it was a great dinning experience especially during Covid I felt very safe dinning here and will definitely come back
I have Never been disappointed here. The Triple Crown today, was great. Generous portion. Lots of shrimp, beef and chicken. All tender. The broccoli was perfect. Hot, but still crunchy. The sauce was tasty, and not overly salty. I love this place.
The food was really good. The decor is very modern and stylish. I would come back here with friends any time. The staff was very friendly, knew their menu very well, and joked with us. They were extremely flexible about changing ingredients for vegetarians within our group.
I have come about 4-5 times since summer began and gotten food from their gluten free menu. It has been so delicious every time and I’m obsessed. I have a high gluten intolerance and they have a good amount of options on their menu. I drive an hour from the Central Valley just to come eat here because it’s the closest option I have to some gluten free Chinese food. I strongly recommend their gluten free chicken chow fun and Peking chicken. They are my go to’s! If you are planning to expand please come to the Central Valley, if possible Turlock or Modesto or even Tracy lol. We are in need of more gluten free options!
We had an amazing dinner here last night. Each course was of a high quality, similar to the dish that preceded it. The lobster tempura was good on it’s own, but when I topped the goat cheese mango won tons with the lobster, the appetizers became even better. The Chilean sea bass was delicious & had a light sprinkling of spice, which allowed the fish to be the star. The scallops were cooked perfectly with a sauce that complimented the seafood without overwhelming the dish. The side of sautéed green beans in an oyster sauce with hints of ginger is something I will try to recreate at home. They were that good! A triple layer chocolate mousse dessert with a raspberry sauce was an excellent end note. I wish I lived closer. This would be my “go to” family owned restaurant for dining in, carrying out or using for catering business & family gatherings. If you’re a “foodie” this is a must to visit!
Getting a little pricey, but the food is always outstanding. Bringing a favorite wine from home and paying the $20 corkage fee still beats their wine prices.
Ate here for my birthday and the food was delicious. I would recommend and would definitely come back
Excellent food, excellent and friendly service. Ever since Andy and Yu's opened in Pleasanton I eat there once in a while, maybe not as often as I would like to, but on many occasions, be it just a lunch on a weekend, or a family celebration. It never disappoints, the food, the drinks, the serice - my favorite place in Pleasanton. If you eat there - don't miss Hot And Sour Soup and Honey Walnut Prawns. The rest is just as delicious, but these two are a must!
We ate here for the first time not long ago and found it to be a great experience. The food prices are a bit high, but you get a very nice elegant experience with that. The food tasted great that evening and our servers were wonderful. I would definitely choose to go back again when I am in the area.
This is one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants I’ve ever had in the US, not even mentioning the gluten free options!!! Staff are friendly, food is way tooooo good. Came twice, had Szechuan beef, Kung Pao Three Combo, Mandarin Triple Crown, Honey Walnut Prawns, Peking chicken, Chou Fun, Ma Po Tofu, home style tofu, Sautéed string beans, and chicken corp soup, hot and sour soup, almost teared out when I had the hot and sour soup. Will definitely order all of them again. If I have to pick, highly recommend hot and sour soup, Honey Walnut Prawns, Sautéed string beans, Szechuan beef for the first try!
I’ve only ordered takeout from Andy & Yu’s, but their food is reliably good!
It's been an amazing place that we have been going to for the past 10+ years (we started at the San Ramon location before they expanded to pleasanton). It's our go to spot for special celebrations or if we just feel like treating ourselves. The food is exquisite and the staff is outstanding. We will be coming here for many more years to come.
By far the best service and food! Very clean restaurant, excellent menu options, food is always fresh and hot. I've eaten here three times already and all have been great. I will definitely be back!!
Simply outstanding. We had sizzling rice soup and Peking chicken - gluten free, pork fried rice and Dragon and Phoenix. All were piping hot and very flavorful. They were also incredibly light. Even the fried rice wasn't oily. Visiting Pleasanton for the weekend and we've been back twice.
Probably the best appetizer platter especially the crab rangoon. Every dish is meticulously made just for you. The soup was very good and our dinner was exquisite. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend this place
Great place - fresh & delicious with amazing Wine selection. We started with egg rolls and cream cheese Rangoons - they were crisp and surprisingly fresh. Hot and Sour soup was ok - Orange Chicken was good for kids, Yu Shiang chicken had the right spice & flavor. Tea-smoked Duck was best part of the meal. Will definitely come back - for the food, ambience, service and did I mention the wine collection:)
Loved everything! Potstickers, wor wonton soup, entrees, service, pace of food delivery. And they know how to make an excellent Makers Mark Manhatten. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. First time, but hopefully more to come!
Based on 5-8 visits - Fact: We obviouslysimply love this wonderful restaurant. Q.How good is it? A. You know it is great a restaurant is when you are planning a return visit EVEN before your meal is even over. Whenever we are remotely close to Pleasanton we make plans and reservations. (not necessary...usually) We really love the Lunch Menu and have always been over the moon.. As a rule, we sit at the bar...we order one or two items AND anther order (a lot more) "TO GO" for dinner. They use very fresh vegetables and consistently, the service is top drawer. We are always "wowed" by the myriad dishes...Kung Pow anything is terrific...the Special soup this afternoon was out of this world...really fresh and excellent flavors. Consistently, the staff is wonderful - friendly, cordial, efficient. Great Team work... We shall return - soon!
This sushi bar exceeded my expectations in every way! The service was friendly and professional, with the staff making sure we had everything we needed. The sushi was exceptional, with each piece bursting with flavor. I loved the sleek, modern interior design, which created a perfect balance of elegance and warmth. An unforgettable dining experience!
My dinner mate and I love this place and it is truly a fine dining establishment not only is food the best of it's kind in East Bay the cocktails are also at the ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐level as well. To us it is worth the drive just for one Linda's Hennessy Sidecars.
Food was delicious. Service was quick and accurate. Restaurant is nicely done, but a bit too loud. That might have been due mostly to the people at the table next to us. Definitely will be back and will update on the noise level. BBQ Pork Chao Fun, Asparagus Beef, Lemon Chicken all excellent.
I ordered menu b from catering for a graduation party. The food was yummy and plenty 🥰 My guests enjoyed it! The delivery was easy and they even came in the house to set it up. Love this place.
We had our rehearsal dinner for ~50 people here and it was fantastic. We rented out the private room, which had a great ambiance and plenty of space for all our guests. Nicole was super helpful and accommodating with our guests' various allergies and made sure everyone got something they could eat. Many of our guests raved about the Signature Dinner and the cocktail selections! The staff members were all very attentive and kind. Thank you!!
The food is classic, familiar, tasty dishes. and great wine, cocktails, and whisky. The hot and sour soup is lightly spicy, thick broth with lots of veggies and protein. Sweet, crispy chicken, and lots of zucchini with the tender szechuan beef. Friendly service, and elegant venue. My favorite Chinese restaurant.
Had dinner last night at Andy and Yu's - thanks for a great night! Dinner was amazing, Megan our waitress was amazing and owner Andy checked in on us - very nice touch! Overall...a fantastic experience! We will be back! Cheers!
Great food and amazing service. Came here for Father's day with a group of 10 people. Our server was really patient with us and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food here was amazing in taste and not crazily expensive like other restaurants in the area. I will highly recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant is very cute and our server was attentive and friendly. The lunch menu had great options at a reasonable price. The food was good but the leftovers were oddly much more delicious! I think that mixing the rice, meat, and vegetables allowed the flavors of each to shine.
This is the second time that I’ve been to Andy and Yu. Just amazing! Let me say that my two times eating at Andy and Yu makes me feel sorry for Chinese restaurants in the south Bay area Santa Clara San Jose area. The honey walnut prawns is so crazy good i put it at 11 out of 10 and it puts the shame the likes of chef Chu of Los Altos and Taiwan of Willow Glen. It now makes these two top restaurants. I have to now rate them at like a six at best.. The honey, walnut prawns come out really really hot. They serve a nice serving of walnuts on the side and there’s just ever a wonderful coating of batter.. not even a tiny as hint that the shrimp have been sitting around back there. Super super fresh!! As for the sizzling rice soup. Ask for the sizzling rice with a little bit of burn on it and the flavor is off the chain and the ingredients are just all very high-quality!! So now I’m OK to drive to 36 minutes. It takes to get to Pleasanton from Santa Clara .

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a chic atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable culinary experience. The food at Andy and Yu's is nothing short of excellent, delivering a delightful fusion of flavors that tantalize the taste buds. Each dish is expertly crafted, showcasing a blend of traditional Chinese techniques with modern twists that elevate the dining experience to new heights. What truly sets Andy and Yu's apart, however, is the impeccable service. From the moment you're seated to the last bite of your meal, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality create a dining experience that's truly unforgettable.
By far the best Chinese food restaurant the East Bay! Egg rolls, amazing. Broccoli beef, the best I've had. The sweet and sour chicken, I could eat that every day. The service was the best service I've ever had, anywhere! Wonderful dining area, with views of downtown Pleasanton, nice.. We need an Andy & Yu's in the East, East bay!
This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area. The food is well prepared, I especially like the vegetable mixture that comes with some dishes(lightly sautéed pawns with vegetables in light sauce, and home style tofu). It’s has generous amount of broccoli, bokchoy, cabbage, carrots and asparagus in the mix, cut size is right, cooked tender enough yet still remains its crispness. I don’t even know how to cook it well like this in my own kitchen…we have came to this place for at least 6 times and have tried different dishes. The food quality has been consistent, which is really important… :) the price is very reasonable, given the food quality, downtown location, parking lot in the back, and of course, something also tickles my fancy, white table linens. Of all things, I haven’t mentioned about the service… that’s also brought me to write this review today. We always felt being treated nicely and warmly at this place. Today we came for lunch, I asked my husband to order me a Yuxiang pork, and he mistakenly ordered a different dish and we didn’t notice that until the dishes came. I was initially surprised, this is not what I ordered… and the waiter quickly apologized and said they will make the dish I wanted. My husband told them that he made the mistake at ordering and we will pay for it. The waiter right away told us not to worry about it. Coming from a hospitality profession, this smooth gesture of always make your customers feel right, is a gold medal. Very nice people work at this restaurant, you can tell. The restaurant is clean, and artfully decorated. It has a nice wine bar and lovely cocktail selections. I can’t wait to go back again and try something new! In the meantime, thank you!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Experience at Andy & Yu’s! I recently dined at Andy & Yu’s and was thoroughly impressed by both the quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. • Honey Walnut Shrimp: Perfectly cooked shrimp with a light, crispy coating and creamy, slightly sweet sauce. The caramelized walnuts were crunchy and rich — a great balance of texture and taste. • Fried Rice: Classic and satisfying. It was filled with vegetables and bits of egg, not greasy, and seasoned just right. • Chicken Lettuce Wraps: Crisp lettuce cups filled with savory diced chicken and crunchy noodles, served with a tasty hoisin-style sauce. Great starter! • Wonton Soup: Comforting and clean, with tender wontons, fresh greens, and a flavorful broth that wasn’t too salty. • Ambiance: Elegant and calm setting with white tablecloths and attentive service. Great for both casual dining and special occasions. Highly recommended for anyone craving high-quality Chinese cuisine in a pleasant, sit-down environment. I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes!
What a wonderful place! Our server was so kind and the food was amazing! My girls and I will definitely be coming back. Thanks again for such a great meal.
Amazing ambience, service and food. Loved the seats near the glass windows. Reservations recommended. Great for large parties of people. Vegetarian food is very well mentioned in the menu. Quite a few options to choose from. I especially loved the spring rolls and hot and sour soup. I’d highly recommend trying out food at Andy and Yu’s!
Best Chinese Food! All dishes come out hot, perfectly prepared and great flavor. Service is very attentive and prompt. Take out is great too!
Andy & a Yu’s is an amazing restaurant with a fantastic chef and owner. Yes Andy is the reason for 25 years we have gone to his restaurant with family, friends, clients and business associates. His family and staff provide fantastic service. The food is excellent and if you get there early they have a nice bar too. Come and enjoy the food and ambiance.
The decor of andy & yu's has withstood time and change, even after all these years, The decor and furnishings of the restaurant are classy, tastefully done, the food and the menu are phenomenal and decently priced. The owner is consistently running all aspects of the restaurant to make sure all his customers have a great time and a consistently gracious host. The staff always remember us and others we bring when we family in from out of town. All the dishes are great. Some of our favorites- Won Ton Soup-Egg Rolls- Peking Duck- Orange Chicken- Sea Bass
Great place, wonderful service! After being ignored at near by restaurant we found Andy & Yu's place where we were treated like guest at the restaurant should be. Great selection of dishes, wines, and other spirits. Leeche Martin very, very tasty.
This is on the side street. Enjoyed meal every time I have gone here. This is a gem in Pleasanton downtown. Kung Pao with the option of seafood and beef is really good and a must try. You get the option of chicken, pork or vegetarian for hot and sour soup. Very nice bar area where you can enjoy a drink or two while your table is set. They also have a patio.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Andy & Yu's. We enjoy our meals and service is usually good to fair. Tonight was different and I want to give props to Mary. She was kind, read body language, hit all her marks, and always blended in with the evening. Some servers don't have that. Tonight was uniquely good. Thank you. I should add, I branched out from my usual set of dishes. Was very pleased with the black mushroom beef.
The service and the food is always top notch. My personal favorite is the orange beef, followed by the mu shu pork. I have ordered take out quite a few times and they have never once got the order incorrect.
Invited by friends for birthday dinner. I was pleasantly surprised the food was tasty and authentic. I thought it'd be more Americanized. But it's good Chinese food. I was delighted by the amount of food and it's great potion. Ordered the family style and we all get to share the entree. I really enjoyed the big dinner and atmosphere. Thank you for a good service too!
Very nice Chinese restaurant with classic and specialty dishes, a full bar and decent cocktail list, gluten free menu items and very accommodating of dietary restrictions.
Wanted to find a new Chinese restaurant for our weekly lunch, so we googled and decided on Andy&Yu's, we liked the name and menu and the reviews were good. The lunch did not disappoint, everything was piping hot and delicious and well portioned. I would like it if they added the walnut prawn to the lunch menu though. Our server Mary was excellent, we will be back to see her. All wait staff were very attentive and much appreciated.!
Stopped by Andy & Yu’s for lunch with a group of three. Overall, it was a pleasant experience! The ambience is definitely a highlight—it’s a very nice, clean, and well-decorated space that works well for both casual lunches and business meetings. Our service was great; the staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure our water glasses stayed full throughout the meal. As for the food, it was good/okay—solid flavors and decent portions, though nothing particularly stood out as a 'must-have' this time around. It’s a reliable spot in Pleasanton if you're looking for a comfortable atmosphere and professional service. We enjoyed our time there!"

This was a good place to eat. Our orders was mixed up as far as the names but both where very good. Don’t understand why you have to order white rice separately. Maybe it’s a California thing. We would come back again.
Delicious food. White linen table cloths. Servers are great at checking on you. Nice location downtown and the patio area is nice.
Food: 8.4/10 All the food we ordered hit the spot. Honey walnut shrimp is a go. Drinks: 4/10 new bartender did not know much. I suggest getting beer or wine. Staff: 10/10 Sweet Ambiance: 6/10 Pretty dead in between lunch and dinner hours Price: 6/10
Beautiful remodel of the old Mexican restaurant. Modern but comfy. Nice outdoor seating but it was too windy this day. Lovely bar area, great restroom. The lunch specials were large, took half home. A bit bland but very fresh. I had the chicken and veggies. I will definitely be back.
This place was surprisingly good. I went in here with lower expectations given I did not see many Asian guests through their big windows. But I was pleasantly surprised that everything was very good. They are certainly priced at the higher end given their nice ambiance and classy decor. I would come back for a nice dinner.
This is the Chinese restaurant we have been missing in downtown since the old Panda restaurant went out of business. They completely renovated the previous Mexican restaurant in the space to make an open, enjoyable environment with large windows on the street letting in tons of light. They fixed the claustrophobic feel they had with the prior restaurant. As for the food, it's good Chinese food. You've had Chinese food before; this is just like that but a little better, a little classier presentation, and a little bit more pricey. And it's worth it. Going back soon.
Wonderful atmosphere, not too busy, responsibly socially distanced. We had a delicious leisurely lunch. I highly recommend the orange flavored beef. The hot and sour soup could have been a little hotter and a lot more sour, otherwise everything (including the service) was fantastic.
Food was good as well as the vibe.Good place to dine in.I did not like couple of things. 1.They charged 20% gratuity for a party of 4 adult and 1 kid. I never saw this much tip before. 2.We had a reservation for 8.45 PM as they did not take reservation for 9 PM.I said we will be late by 5 mins, When we reached the restaurant the lady in the front gave a real cold look saying we are closing event though they close at 9.30. They should not take reservation if they can not attend the parties in a proper manner.
A pretty intimidating atmosphere at first, very chic, muted ambience with wooden bookcases full of wine bottles... felt select and expensive. 😅 The prices are totally normal actually, the menu offers a wide variety of Asian dishes and the meals we had were simple and delicious (special mention to the honey walnut prawns 🤤). The staff was also very nice and helpful. Definitely a recommendable place (ideally located, additionally). 🙂
This is part of the Uncle Yu's group and is some of if not the best Chinese food in the area. I live in Fremont but whenever I am near Pleasanton or have any excuse to go there, I almost always stop there for a meal especially given the general mediocrity of sit-down Chinese restaurants in the Fremont area. For me the Uncle Yu's group is the equivalent of Chief Chu's in the East Bay. However, I must disagree with the price point rating as I would give it $$$ not $$. That said, given the quality and service I feel it is worth it. Normally the service is terrific but on my last occasion, stopping by after the County Fair, service was disappointing. We arrived around 7:30PM and ordered multiple courses around 15 minutes later. All the food was served at once and many of the dishes were cold when we got to them. We were then told that the kitchen closes at 8:00PM except on weekends when it closes at 8:30. This is obviously not a place for late night dining. In any case we had the cold dishes packed up, took them home, carefully reheated them in a microwave at low power and they were delicious. Some good points are that while charging for rice they do not charge extra for brown rice and unlike so many other restaurants these days they do not tack on a mandatory service charge or tip other than for parties. One of the negative points that seem common with the restaurant group is mostly bare walls and floors with poor sound absorption leading to a quite noisy environment during prime dining hours. That said overall this is a great Chinese restaurant.
First time eating at this place. Service was excellent. Quality of food was amazing. We ordered the soup and crispy eggplant for appetizers. The soups are served individually. Four main dishes, we had the chow, fun, Compal, chicken, half order of tea, smoked duck, and Szechuan beef. Everything was fresh however, Szechuan beef was highly battered and a bit oily.
We stopped in for a mid-week lunch at this local favorite. Service was courteous and attentive and they had a spot available immediately even though it was packed. I ended up liking the broccoli beef and the potstickers the best. The hot and sour soup was good but the wonton soup was lacking flavor. I will of course be returning to this great little establishment. *Great for groups, families, friends, couples, and business lunches
Gluten free review: about half the menu is gf here with each item marked clearly on the menu. When we ordered, Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about what gluten free means and how to deal with gf customers. Food was good. Gf soy sauce was provided. We had the mixed veggie with tofu, snow peas with prawns, and Peking chicken (we expected it to be dressed like Peking duck but it was rather more similar to orange chicken. Still good though). The vegetables we received were cooked perfectly; fresh, flavorful, still slightly crunchy and not too soft. I also had the lychee mocktail.

Very nice - great authentic food, not very exorbitant pricing. Nice job keeping your pricing, food quality and service. We really enjoyed the evening!

Ambience is great. But food was okay. Pot stickers were too thick and not enough filling. We tried Singapore noodles and it was pretty average. Not enough spice or flavor. Their tofu dish was pretty good though.
The place is nice. Well decorated. Service was good. Chinese taste. Did not get more stars because main dish (scallops with rice and vegetables) was not so tasty. Scallops were good and well cooked
Not thrilled. Ordered delivery tonight- the Pros: Arrived hot, the food is very fresh. Cons: paid $15 for king pao chicken that was mostly zucchini, big chunks of zucchini- hardly any chicken for $15. The potstickers were thick, gummy and undercooked with no flavor other than the sauce which was good. The chicken chow mein did have chicken- it was however dry and tasteless. Definitely not what I’d hoped for. More Chinese “American” dishes.
Good food, but after our third visit I’ve decided to call them Blandy & Yu’s. The awesome thing about this place is they have a full-up gluten free menu section, including some Chinese staples (Peking Chicken, Broccoli Beef, etc) and multiple noodle dishes! Nice atmosphere and a decent wine list if you want to eat in, but mostly we go take out or delivery because I think Chinese food is best enjoyed out of a to-go box in front of a TV. On the negative side, bland. I ask for extra spicy when I order and they consistently read back “ok a little extra spice added”. I try to respond by saying no I want it HOT have your chef put some Thai chiles in there but I get the sense they are offended by this and they never do it. Also, who makes Kung Pao Chicken without peanuts? Whatever. Try the bbq pork chow fun it’s bomb.
Second visit here. First time was much better but not as good as other Chinese food we have had. 1) meals are highly priced 2) overly salty 3) charged $45 service charge even though 2 of our party of 6 were young children .... we did not pay this service charge but it was awkward to argue 4) ordered a glass of wine ....$21, definitely way more than I would expect for a house wine, I think maybe the waiter just chose an expensive one, he didn’t give us options. Advise those ask to see the wine menu so you are prepared!
Food was just okay nothing stood out in flavor or freshness - portions on the small side so if you are sharing with a large group keep that in mind and order extra. High prices for what you get. This won't be a destination for my future dining. I might try it again after they've been open awhile.
Honestly, it was okay. If you're looking for a traditional Chinese restaurant, you're not going to find it here. To better understand, the food here is good, not great. It's the overall presentation. A perfect example, there were no Chinese for listed for any of the menu items. This place caters to the American palate (I.e.: sweet and sour dishes). If you're use to the traditional banquet style dining, this isn't the place to go. It felt more like a fine dining experience. Meals are served individually (as shown in the photo with the eggplant) as opposed to family style (where it's one dish per plate that everyone shares) where there is a lazy Susan turntable in the middle of the table. Service was gracious here. Parking along the street and a lot in the back. You access the restaurant from the parking lot. Overall, this does have a more intimate atmosphere. Not much for traditional Chinoiserie decor. Not many Asians waiters or patrons (usually an odd sign when you don't see the demographics of the cultural group dining as their respective cuisine).
Visited our favorite Chinese restaurant on May 19, 2025. All of our past visits have been 5 star; however, this visit was very disappointing. We ordered the orange chicken that in the past was one large piece of meat with a sweet orange sauce. This time it was chicken chunks and the sauce was not the same. After our meal, left feeling heart broken. We were traveling to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary to experience our favorite foods.
Situated in a great location of downtown Pleasanton, plenty of surrounded parking spots. There's a ramp walking into one of the entry points, so it's easily accessible to folks with wheelchairs or parents with strollers etc. The interior is esthetically pleasing. Lots of traditional artifacts, pictures displayed throughout. It's clean, clutter free and comfortable. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The food came out without delay, but personally, it didn't taste authentic. It was presented nicely but fell shirt on flavor for our family. We asked for two different types of spicy sauces to help with flavor, but even the sauces were bland. All in all, I'd go here for the aesthetical appeal but not for the food.
We only ordered take out but the place looked clean and decent. However food was average. We had two different fried rice, egg rolls, beef with asparagus, chicken in garlic sauce and deluxe veg. I think beef was probably the best amongst all the dishes we ordered. With my eyes covered, I would not be able to tell the difference between this place and Panda Express food.
Food is underwhelming, portions are rather small. You can eat as well, for much less, at Panda Express, (which for me is out of the question). The place is nice, so you’re probably paying for the ambiance and not the quality of the food. Service is OK, except when they start clearing the table while you’re still seated. Nothing amazing happening here. Giant bar, but no beer on tap? I won’t be back.
I decided to try this restaurant one more time. I will not go back. Service was inattentive. One server was wearing a puffy outdoor jacket with a hood! There were 3 of us. One soup was returned because it was luke warm. Our first entree was brought out before the returned soup had been brought back. Next two entrees were served on cold plates, so didn’t stay warm. Food was mediocre.
My friend was charged a group charge of 25% for a $60 bottle of wine meant only for herself and her friend. The rest of the group didn’t drink that wine. When my friend told the waitress that that was absurd, we were told to leave the restaurant in a very irate manner. I will never go back to that place.
Went there tonight. The waiter was very rude and unwelcoming. At one point he even slammed the wine bottle on the table. Probably the worst waiter I have ever experienced. Food was average.
The wontons were very dry and so I asked them to make a different soup for me and it took a bit of discussion
Nice location, ambiance and service - too bad nobody seems to be paying attention the food. Most of the dishes were average, some were inedible (tough meat, overly sweet marinades/sauces…) would not be acceptable at a cheap takeout place, and definitely not for the prices charged here.

Glorified panda Express. Except panda Express is actually good. Ordered shrimp, which was bland. Ordered spinach soup which was alright but nothing special. Best dish was Kung pao chicken. But even a kid could make that at this point. Servers were nice and so was the ambiance. But when you think fine dining in a downtown area, this just doesn't cut it.
I have to file a complaint. The old, Asian, ill-mannered, long, white-haired lady’s attitude was rude, and gave me the wrong cheaper noodle soup. Yesterday afternoon, I ordered a” shrimp” noodle soup over the phone. When I came back home, I found out there were only vegetables.
Not greasy but very expensive. Editing this review: Went back and took the parents & a bug was in my Salad. A bug also flew out of the vegetables plate. Server didn't know what to do and didn't take the items off the bill. Avoid this place as they obviously have a severe bug problem. There was also a bug flying around the table. Totally dusgusting. Will never return.
Went for business lunch. This was all of our first time to this restaurant and probably will not go there unless they change. How can one go wrong with Calamari and pot stickers. The Calamari had lumps of corn flour and it was soggy. The schezwan shrimp was drenched in sugar syrup, the accompanied veggies were pathetic and the noodles looked and tasted as if it was cooked some time ago and then served. Please-please bring up the quality and taste . Besides you all are in downtown so the standards has to be better than others.
We eat at Andy and & Yu’s at least once a week. Last night we ordered our meal to go. One of our favorites is chicken and snow pea. When we arrived home we noticed that the chicken and snow pea dish has 75% snow peas and 25% chicken. This wasn’t the worst of it, the snow peas were limp and soggy. I called the restaurant and shared our experience and let them know that we were disappointed. The employee who answered the phone had zero concern that our order wasn’t satisfactory. No apology and no concern. Later that evening we both woke up feeling very ill, similar to a bad case of the flu. This could only be attributed to the food. Needless to say that we will not be going back to Andy & Yu’s!
Not sure who these local guides are who are leaving 5 star reviews of this restaurant but my experience in this place was underwhelming at best. Never had super sweet calamari before and it did not taste good. Sweet and sour shrimp was super sweet and hong kong noodles was acceptable at best. I realize food is personal preference and some people might find these super sweet items fun to eat but i did not appreciate the food at all. In fact every other Chinese restaurant i have tried in pleasanton livermore area is better than this place in my opinion. This is a relatively expensive Chinese restaurant with good ambience. However i was a victim of false 5 star reviews in here. Food was just not good!
Contrary to the high ratings disappointed with the quality of the food. The ribs as starter were very tough to get of the bone. They said they were supposed to be that way. The Mongolian beef was (my opinion) terrible. Very fatty oily taste. The waiter was very kind and offered to prepare another one but was no better.
