OH. MY. GOODNESS. Do yourself a favor and order the Chimichanga with shredded beef and sit back while your eyes roll!!!! This was the most beautiful and delicious thing I've ever eaten at a Mexican restaurant. Everything about it was perfect. Oh, everyone else enjoyed their food too.
Very nice restaurant, fast and kind service, great food. Recommended
Best mexican food on prather lol. But seriously, you have to try the shredded beef tacos, shredded beef enchiladas, little dinner tostadada and chile rellenos. We always stop here while in the area. The food is fast, fresh and always tastes amazing. The staff is super pleasant and prices are great too for this high quality mexican food.
Best Mexican Restaurant in the middle of no where (Prather). It’s only a few miles from Shaver Lake!
Great food. Friendly, accurate, prompt service. Generous portions. Moderately priced. Definitely return!
Been coming here for over 25 years and still one of my favorites!!!
Best Mexican food period. Excellent salsa and home made chips.
Fast& friendly service. Rice has a nice little kick to it.
Everyone is so friendly! I love the decor inside and the food! I had the tamale and it was absolutely delicious! It’s a great place to stop for a quick bite or to stay and chat! Love that restaurant and I definitely recommend!
Great Mexican food place in the hills. Food is always on point and the service is exceptional. My favor is the chili verde all meat burrito but the fajita combo is amazing too. It's worth the drive from fresno and also a great place to stop going to Shaver. They also have a great breakfast burrito call the BD.
There were lots of flies in the window and flying around other than that food was great service was as well
Went there today very good and the service was great had an excellent time will come back.
Great little local place. Excellent service, incredibly fast. The food is delicious! I had the chimichanga with Chile Verde and it did not disappoint.
It was a little busy, but the food was fantastic and came out fast. Service was great as usual. Everyone that works here is so nice and accommodating! I highly recommend the Chili Colorado.
Wonderful service and good food still, years and years later, thru the, "pandemic," these guys have stood the test of time. Beans were served in a silver platter, gravy tray but it was still impressive. Chile Verde anything is good and the chips and chunky fresh cut salsa can't be beat.
Good food, just don't argue with a customer who ordered crunchy tacos rather than soggy ones. It's okay to make a mistake with taking an order, arguing just makes you look bad. We weren't mad just making a comment about the tacos. We still like the new ownership and all of the staff. And the food tastes better than ever.
Good, clean, super fast service, get a complimentary basket of chips salsa is not to hot. You can get breakfast all day long. Only reason food didn't get 5 stars is it can be more Mexican American than authentic Mexican food.
I have been eating their food through 3 locations over the past 20+ years. I have yet to order something that was not delicious. The mountain community is blessed to have them. Call ahead and then swoop up your meal to go at their drive thru window.
I have never experienced such quick friendly and great service at a restaurant in my life. The manager took great care of our large group of firefighters, and exceeded all of our expectations. I would highly recommend this place and look forward to eating your again.
It's been a couple years since I have stopped in and it's just as good as it always was. I got a taco, tamale and a side of rice. I really like the flavor of the taco meat. It was just plain ground beef. The tamale was pork and was mostly shredded with only a small chunk or two, which is just a personal preference of mine. The rice was great and well seasoned.
I loved this place the service, food, and decor, it’s all amazing plus it’s a near home go to place if we don’t want to cook! All in all this place is awesome 10/10 recommend.
Excellent food. Excellent service. The staff are so kind and very helpful. It is clean. I have never gone into a restroom that was immaculate, ( clean) very imptessed).impressed. Mother and I go once a month. I highly recommend this. V
Every time I dine in or pick up an order the staff are super kind, the food is delicious and fresh.
Great food. Awesome tacos and fajitas. Nice atmosphere. Some waitresses are good, some suck. I just save my tip for the next good waitress when I get poor service. Once had no soda refill over 30 minute timeframe. But, for Prather, honestly it's a great deal. Owner/chef is an awesome guy and member of the community.
The best shredded beef & cheese burrito I've ever had! Great service too! Kinda miss the old building but the bigger dining room is a plus. I look forward to eating there every time we visit family in Auberry! :)
Really awesome service the servers were very kind and prompt! Food was reasonably priced and delicious dinner for my family. Will be coming back again for more tasty food and friendly service :)
A group of us were here for breakfast today. Extremely friendly service, reasonable prices and the food is 10 out of 10 delicious. I eat a lot of Mexican food and the portions were great, the quality was there and it was just an awesome experience. There were plenty of locals inside, telling us this is a place that people really know and love. If you like really good Mexican food, you won't get disappointed here.
Have been coming here a lot on the way down from my cabin or from a hike and we would always get our food here and it has always been a wonderful place to eat. I am a black hole in my family and I never leave hungry. It's nice and just feels like I'm in a loved place and we got our food really fast. I'll always come here when ever I'm in town.
Stopped on a Sunday at dinner on way down the hill. Surprised how fast the food came out. Good portion and price. Will be back!
Portions vary day to day but really good chorizo breakfast burritos.
Staff were great. Lots of food. Be hungry and don't plan to eat for a while.
Best place ever! My new favorite restaurant! Great service! And awesome food!
Great food got the chimichanga it was huge and delicious
We were on our way down the 4lane and wanted to stop for a quick bite, as neither me or my girlfriend wanted to make anything for dinner. We were greeted immediately and served promptly. We both enjoyed our plates and how attentive they were to our needs. They begun to pick up shortly after we arrived but the service maintained well! Will surely come back for more tasty food.
Always delicous. Shrimp cocktail is so yummy
Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. It was crowded hardly any tables free, but service was excellent and we got our food really fast. Would definitely eat here again!
Food was good, delicious flavors. Michelada hit the spot. Great service.
Very busy this afternoon, food came out quick and was great and tasty. Service was good per usual, our server Andrea was very polite and went above and beyond for us. Will be back again next time we are in the area. Recommend the Tostada Salad and enchiladas are very good too.
Love the feel of this place. Great spot for a snack or a meal. And the service was very quick. Happy with our visit. 4 visits previously. All were great.
Top rate sevice, very friendly and service with a smile. The ribeye steak dinner plate. The steak was very tender and seasoned just right with the grilled onion on top. It was served with the choice of corn or flour tortilla. The refried beans were good. The rice was good as well. Then it came even with french fries and a small tostada at the start of the meal. This was plenty of food. Not to mention the free chips and salsa.
With covid regulations prefer you to call on and order then pick up thru drive thru. They do have some dine in options available right now....best to call the number on the menu I'm not sure what they were.
Great place with great people! Love the grilled Chicken salad!
This place has a great breakfast burrito. I ordered the Huevos con Papas (Eggs and Potatoes) and asked if they could add veggies which they were very happy to accommodate the order. I can imagine the rest of the food being good as well. The salsa is decent. Not very spicy but had a good taste. I would visit again and try more items.
I have been going to Velasco's in Prather for several years. It's a favorite breakfast spot before heading up the 4 lane. I always get a 3 item dinner because I enjoy the little dinner tostada so much. I take most of the plate home with me to enjoy throughout the day. The food is great. The people are always very nice. We placed our order and had the dinners on the table in 5 minutes.
Good Mexican food. Generous portion sizes. Extremely fast at bringing the meal.
While staying at shaver lake, we decided to go grab a bite to eat in the little town of Prather which is about 17 mi from the lake. As a Mexican food lover, I was excited to see a local restaurant in the area. Upon walking in, we were seated immediately and greeted by a very sweet young man who immediately gave us menus, chips and salsa and brought our drinks over pronto. Sadly the food was not fantastic. I ordered cheese enchiladas with beans and rice and my husband ordered a beef fajita burrito. The beef fajita burrito was decent with a rich flavor but very oversized pieces for a burrito making it a little difficult to eat. My cheese enchiladas arrived swimming and sauce and the beans and rice. Although fresh and homemade, we're all lacking flavor and consistency. The rice was very dry and the beans were very runny and lacked a smooth creamy texture. Everything from the chips to the salsa to the enchilada sauce & beans we're sadly lacking salt. On a side note, although I enjoy a great pico de gallo, which is what they served with our chips and salsa, it is hard to eat as a condiment on the rest of your food, such as an addition to the fajita burrito. When the salsa is chunky it falls off of everything and does not blend well. I prefer a smooth salsa to add to rice and on top of meats or burritos etc. And the salsa should be rich with flavor. This salsa needed spice a jalapeno to add a little heat, more cumin and salt. Lots more salt. I also enjoy cilantro but I know a lot of restaurants avoid it because there are people who have an aversion to it. So I understand the lack of cilantro. But know that salsa in any Mexican restaurant is a crucial condiment and should be given full attention to detail and flavor. And this is Petty. I know it, but the lettuce and tomato along with a lemon slice was a bizarre addition to both meals. It just seemed out of place. I know it's garnish but it just didn't go. Perhaps the sprig of cilantro on the side of the plate would dress it up and be a more useful veggie on the side for those who enjoy it or a unique corn cake. Just a thought. I hope this comes as constructive criticism because the customer service was so phenomenal there that I really hope for the future success of this restaurant. Just spice it up guys. You've got the hardest part down which is phenomenal customer service and a timely kitchen. You're 3/4 of the way there. I look forward to giving it another try next time we're in the area.
Just ordered 2 plates to go that consisted of 3 tacos and 3 enchaladas with beans and rice and chips and salsa and it was $49. When we got home and opened the boxes we just laughed at what was in the plates. Taco shells had hardly any meat and the beans and rice were sub par. Usually this is the place to go for a family dinner and hopefully this was a one off night for Velascos but definitely won't ever order anything to go from here again.
The food is really good. Your value is on par with others and as you can see in the picture, the soda cup is huge. The chips are always fresh, but the service is horrible after waiting about 15 minutes. I finally flagged down Lupe and she was very helpful. She came over, took our order brought us our food. They sat somebody else in our area, and those people waited and waited, and when I got Lupe‘s attention, she went over to help them too. We have no idea where our waitress was. They need better help
Most of their food tastes like fabuloso. How do they not realize they're selling food that tastes like their cleaner of choice?
My family and I stopped here for lunch on our way home from shaver lake. We were greeted right away when we walked in and told to sit anywhere. Customer service was great, got our food literally 5 minutes after the waitress put in our order which I thought was odd for food to come out that quick! I ordered the burrito grande Chile Verde which had no flavor at all and the Chile Verde was dry too, mainly lettuce. Husband got the #2 no flavor at all to his taco or enchilada and meat was dry, kids ordered #27s and again no flavor. The only thing that had flavor was the beans. Overall not satisfied with the food at all, our waitress with the glasses was awesome though!
NOT authentic!!! Tasteless, inedible!!! THAT was no Chile Relleno burrito I’ve ever seen. It was this goop smothered, scoop of beans with runny cheese and bits of green Chile. The guacamole was mixed with another product as filler, not 100% avocado and tasteless!!! The chips, are as bad as they look. All this for $16!!! Folks, come down the mountain more often and see what good food tastes like. Note: employees were observed not practicing physical distancing, not wearing masks or gloves. Eat at your own risk... good luck to you.
Do not eat here. Not authentic and food was gross. $22 buck for 3 want to be tacos and a soda. It was very bad
Came for lunch... Had asada tacos never had a Mexican restaurant put lettuce instead of cabbage no onion or cilantro.... Meat was cold and under seasoned but plate and rice were scolding hot.... Out of three tacos I ate one and a bite of rice.. my workers got a cold shrimp burrito and a barley wrapped chicken burrito both lacked flavor as well.... The red salsa tastes like canned spaghettios... We won't be returning and that's a shame we live for Mexican food...
Got a chimichanga it was like getting a wet burrito chimichangas are supposed to have a hard shell total garbage
