Great place for saving money. I buy all my groceries here. Fresh fruits and vegetables and the store is nice and clean. Also great customer service..
Why does food max get 5 star? They have probably the best looking produce section in town. Compare it to a high end place like sprout and they blow them out of the water.
I really liked this store! I haven't shopped at many stores since I've moved to the area, I usually just stick to the same 'ol same 'ol, but today I tried something different and I'm so glad I did. I was able to find great products at great prices. I especially like the Veggie Dept. Great Selection.

Store was nice and clean and all the clerks were helpful. Produce was nice and fresh. Joseph, my cashier helped me out ...Went an extra mile. I love shopping at that store
Tracy helped me out very well a day I was stressed out I just happened to walk into the store and she was very helpful. She even helped me get my tags out of the machine where you get your tags for registration. Thank you Tracy
Shop there all the time. Great products at a great price. The people working there are very professional and very respectful to their patrons. The shelves are always stocked and their prices are very reasonable.
FoodMaxx sometimes has a reputation as a low rent supermarket, but this location is clean, well stocked, the employees are generally friendly, and they have managed to adapt and keep up with the craziness of COVID-19. The produce also generally is fresher than some competitors, with the bagged lettuce being notably better. Occasionally items are marked at extremely low prices, with fairly close dates. So long as you pay attention and will use the product in time, they are good deals.
Went there to Renew my license plate tag, Food Max has a California license server, for $3.00& Up store manager assisted in the process
This afternoon the gal in the bakery went above and beyond and made a 12 pack of cupcakes for me, because the table was sold out! In today's service world I sure do appreciate the extra service!!! I always have a good experience at the store.
Great store and employees. Roosevent and Jason and night crew mens are always very helpful and kind . You guys deserve a raise .
Love that it is not as busy as Winco!
I really like shopping here because I feel way less crowded here than at other grocery stores. The aisles are big enough to actually push a cart through, and I don’t constantly feel like I’m in someone’s way. The store is clean and employees are nice. Plus I save just like so much money shopping here compared to Safeway or Costco or something.
Been my "go-to" for decades. Great prices, good selection, top-shelf produce at a fraction of the cost at Safeway or Raley's. My favorite thing about this store is that there's not someone in your way everywhere you want to go (like Winco). The shopping experience is pleasant.
The employees here are amazing. I don't go anywhere else. Love love love this place and a good selection of international ingredients. Sean, Mikey, Kevin (jr) and Jimmy are awesome. Jimmy will tell you his favorite items or recipes. Never disappointed.
Anytime I've shopped here, employees are super nice and very helpful. Lines move very quickly and efficiently, and the cashiers are friendly. Don't let tattoos and piercings fool you: Even though FoodMaxx is a discount grocery store, you get amazing, old-fashioned Guest service, going so far as to introduce themselves when asking how your day is going and if they may assist you with anything. Not to mention, the store is clean! And if there's a spill, someone is on it immediately to clean it up. I shop here because it's very convenient, but if I were to move farther away, I'd still shop here.
Great selection of products and produce is always fresh. They offer a wide variety of ethnic foods which most don't carry in town. Store is well lit, clean and staff very helpful when looking for items. They offer fresh produce, large meat section, bakery, liquor department and a small pet isle. Very nice store.
Customer service here is great. All the employees are very nice and are always helping everyone smile. Joseph was very accommodating and went out of his way to make sure I found everything on my list. I will be back here because of the great employees!
Everyone in the place is great and very welcoming. Especially that one cashier that stands out…. He is always so very helpful, kind, and polite. (Roosevelt) keep up the great work. 👍
Great produce prices and quality. Friendly staff as well
This store has lots of products as you would expect any grocer to carry. They are starting to carry more organic items which is wonderful but there could be lots more. Seems like every time I go for 0%fat organic milk there isn't any. But their meat dept makes up for any shortcomings. When they add more organics I'll raise my star rating to 5.
First off decent prices helpful staff.second the lack of homeless in and around show's that security for the place does his/her job well I feel safe shopping here,And last but not least my cashier Jessica a. Was super friendly, helpful ,and quick.from now on out due to these three things I'm making food Maxx my main store thank you Jessica a. For making my day end with a smile. Reasons why no five star store was kinda dirty and blood spots on cealing of men's restroom
not bad good prices and employees aren't complete jerks like some other chains *cough*** (Wal-Mart) *** cough* good selection easy to find what your looking for and even things you didn't know you wanted or needed. All in all a pretty nice store.
Food Maxx's produce department is beautiful! Fresh, colorful fruit & veggies are nicely displayed. It's a good sized area too. Larger than many grocery stores' produce sections. They also carry a Buffalo Ranch salad bag my husband and I really like.
This store is starting to really need security professionals. How are your employees suppose to give good customer service and feel energized to work well while dealing with all the thieves all day every day by themselves? It's stressful. I'd hate to work there. And the customers get worried a lot- it cant be good for business. Do better by your employees.
Great selection. Great prices. Some staff are great while others are average (but hey, isn't that most places). My real issue that there is frequently items that don't have signage for prices...which results in me having to track down an employee because I don't know if it is on sale like last week, or if not, what the new price is.
Lots off items out of stock always here
Pretty good variety of food. One thing though, the cashier named John C. was very very very rude to my family and many other people. He got really frustrated. Maybe he was tired so he probably needs a break..... FOREVER!!!! 😤😡
I like shopping here for fresh veggies, and there are usually always items at a great find for a good price. While shopping today, I have never been so offended at the self-checkout when we needed assistance due to the card reader being frozen. The cashier had the audacity to say, "Oh, if it's a Food Stamps card, go ahead and swipe it." I get that there are a lot of minorities that are on the food assistance program, but just to assume it because we're minorities is not only rude but plain out stereotyping.
It would be a little more of a comfortable shopping experience if there were more security cameras watching the parking lot to keep vehicles safe from burglary or theft of personal property. I had a few items taken out of the trunk of someones car that i was riding with to go shopping.
Decent prices but then you got cashiers like to mean mug people and try to accuse people for taking dog food and saying are you going to pay for the dog food then asked if I had a receipt of course I have a receipt..... Not cool Oh wait are you pissed off cuz you had to work on Christmas Wait guess what I had to work on Christmas too there buddy not happy at all
I know I look a bit young, but the attitude felt a bit much over nothing. It shouldn’t be stressful buying a few ciders, but here we are. I came into the store today buying groceries for me and my kid sister. The cashier, Jesse, calls me up asking if we have i.d. I say yes and bring mine over. He looks at the i.d. Looks at me. And does this about 6 times. It starts to feel awkward so I do a little shrug and smile because I have no idea what to say to him. He asks me my birthday and I tell him 10/30/1997. He says,”10??” I say “yes?” Because I don’t get why that felt off to him. He keeps staring at me with doubt. After he handed it back and i put it away, he has me take it out again. He tells me i look young. I tell him im 27 years old. He finally hands it back over and as he’s still scanning my things he’s kind of tossing them onto the conveyor belt?I brushed off the way he was somewhat throwing my things until i saw the next people in line and how he stacked their things neatly and nicely. I finish paying and he turns around fully to talk to his coworker at the other register before putting his arm behind his back and handing me my receipt. It felt like he was trying to make a point by not looking or engaging with me again. Anyway , he was rude. The end. P.s. i still love the rotisserie chicken, just not the service today.
They were missing so many staple items that my list had at least 30 items and found 5 off the list because the shelves were empty. The staff was not helpful at all, that is if you could find one.
I normally do not order through Instacart for good reason, but last nite I did not feel like going out in the heat of the day. I placed an order, two things were wrong. First off the Shopper did not know the store and listed a product out of stock and replaced it. I ordered the Simply Potatoes hash browns(not frozen) and got ORE-IDA Frozen Hash browns. The shopper most likely figured what I was looking for was frozen, not the Not FROZEN Simply Potatoes that are clear at the back of the store in the same chill box as the Cream Cheese. Simple mistake but but combined with the next issue is hard to swallow. The one that really bothers me had to do with a Rotisserie Chicken. It looks like it had been under the heat lamps all day. Instead of being a golden brown as you might expect it is Black and looks like you tried to cremate it. I have to say it is not appetizing at all. The order was placed on 7/12 around 5:15 pm. It has an expiration date of 7/13 just how long do you leave these chickens under the heat lamp? Do you have an employee that actually works there? You know, one the checks to see if stock needs to be rotated off the shelf especially these chickens. My reason for the comment about usually going in person is due to the numerous times I went there to buy fresh produce, in particular Yams or Sweet Potatoes. Just to pick one up and find it to be mushy along with several others in the box. You know if this was a one-time thing I could forgive it, however I have had this happen on numerous occasions. Would you want to eat this Chicken? Go ahead call it a bad choice by the shopper but this chicken should have been rotated off the shelf.
Went all through a long line through the self checkout since only 2 customer service and I only had 5 items. I viewed the signs for restrictions for checkout other than number of items and nothing noted.i proceed and began checking my items, I scanned an item that says manager must authorize this item. After 5 minutes of attempting to get this employees attention I asked for assistance. He states yeah you can’t checkout this here, get in another line. I asked why wasn’t it noted he tells me to have a nice day!! His name was JUSTIN , obviously doesn’t care about customer service!!
Self checkout is a joke, service is a joke.
shop in here all the time. prices are fair and produce is fresh. sometimes you walk in greeted other times they wish you weren’t there. the older lady, Stella i think that works there is super rude to me and should probably retire. Update: on august 25th i came in tonight and was planning to pay with lottos because they have done it before in the past and it wasn’t busy, my cashier Andy was extremely rude and didn’t feel like doing it and told me he had to cancel the transaction and have me walk over to the other side of the store to cash them in and come back. luckily and surprisingly the older lady, Stella i think (was super rude to me a few times in the past/current related to my previous review above) was able to do it. Andy also said under his breath that me paying with lottos was stupid. i feel very unwelcomed at foodmaxx now and definitely feel judged by Andy and Stella. i hope in the future things will change and they learn how important it is to be nice to others because not only were they having a bad day the days i come in but you never know how the customer is feeling. i probably won’t be back for awhile since i’m honestly kinda scared to see them.
I was at the Redding, CA Foodmaxx today at approximately 11:30 am. I did my shopping and got in line. Line 6, Jason Keen(sp?) was the checker. The guy behind me had only one item so I told him to go ahead of me. It was at that time that the checker showed his displeasure with my Courtesy. Then he rang up my items. I attempted to use my EBT card, but it was declined. So I asked the checker to put some items back. He got really angry and started yelling at me about his tax dollars paying for my food. I told him that was neither here nor there. I thought he cleared the register of the EBT transaction and was prepared to make the purchase with my debit card. Apparently the checker had nit done that,, not being an ebt card my debit card was declined.. by this time the checker had egged the other customers in line into yelling at me for being on food stamps. I was so humiliated that I left the store. I went back in to get his name which he refused to give me. He was not wearing a name tag and I had to get his name from the other checker. I have shopped at this store for 20 years and will never go back there.
The wait in line at the only checker station has become too much. Today they called several times for all available checkers and one showed up after 11 minutes. Customer Care is so bad I no longer will shop here. I'll pay the extra 9 dollars I save to get thru the line faster!
My son is autistic. He walked in and out of store while he was waiting for me at Tmobile. He was approached by the manager and told to leave because he walked in and out of store without buying anything too many times. It was his first time at store. The manager assumed my son was homeless and told him he wasn't allowed there again. No problem. It was our first time there. I was next door at Tmobile and asked my son to go next door and get his groceries. He will not be back there and I will definately not go there and I would advise others not to give them your business. We are visiting here from Seattle. Not impressed!
I would give no stars if I could. I hate this FoodMaxx so I never shop here. Today I was shopping with my mom and she needed to run in for milk. This store is always dirty but today was extra bad. The entire front of the store had such a strong odor of urine it was enough to gag us. And the inside didnt really smell any better. I've been in multiple FoodMaxx locations and I've never had a problem. It's just this location for some reason
Customer service is little to nothing, the few employees that do good service look exhausted, a lot of employees standing around goofing off, blocking food shelves. I live close by and have to run in for 1 item every now and then for years, workers won't acknowledge you, most of the time you can't find anyone on the sales floor to ask a question. Many items are expired, I've had to let management know whole cases of mayonnaise was expired. Very small selection of organic produce and most fresh food goes bad in a day. Its obvious this store is not being held to decent standards.
Very expensive compared to Walmart, winco, even Tj max!
I'm not sure who this cashier is because she's not wearing a nametag, but she has very long straight brown hair and is wearing a black hoodie. She left me and another customer waiting for several minutes while she was chatting with another employee -- even after I called out to let her know two customers were waiting for help. Then she proceeded to act like I had done something wrong for using a coupon that was attached to the clearance item I was buying. Ma'am, YOU work here, I'm not the one who made mistakes!! Side note: there's an item I buy here regularly. I've had to have them change the price on it multiple times, because it rings up at a different price than is posted. They've changed it for me personally several times now, and they always act like I'm bothering them -- why isn't the price in the system FIXED yet?? EDIT: THEY'VE RAISED THE PRICE OF THE ITEM NOW BY ALMOST 20% 😂👎🏼 losing starS because I SEE YOU!!
Customer service is so bad. I went through self check out and needed a bag for the rotisserie chicken I was purchasing, there were no bags so I went to the cashier asking for a bag with my receipt to show I had paid for one he sent me back saying there were bags there rather just handing me one another employee walks into the self checkout station and rudely points to the desk where there were bags although there were no bags at any of the self checkout counters. So I went to my car and immediately called the store to let the manager know how inconsiderate and actually rude the cashiers had been and the first thing he said in response was “did the cashier have a line…” as if that would make it too hard for him to simply hand me a bag from his station and as if this were some sort of excuse. Inconsiderate and overtly rude with excuse making complicit management.
Three different kinds of meat from them, and all of them were spoiled meat. Check your chicken and steaks because it all smelled horrible and was rotten. Also got some frozen dishes to heat up, which were open in the box and freezer burnt. I will not be returning basically I wasted $100 in food
Went into store picked up 6 or 7 items go to self check out no bags. Went to one register open 3 people ahead of me with large baskets so I left without buying
The Friday after 4th of July and they think only having 1 cashier in a Friday at 10 am is the thing to do. Terrible management to only have one cashier in line. Last time I come here. Then what’s worse the cashier can’t stop talking. I understand being friendly but read the room.
I tried to use the app the checker was absolutely no help and also was a little rude at it He wouldn’t give me any help he said he didn’t know what to do and then I said I’ll pay full price but thanks for your help though, and he said you’re welcome. I won’t come back. Terrible customer service! If your employees can’t help your customers then why are they there. I work with the public too. If I can’t help my cuss I’ll find someone who can.
Today we shopped at Food Max, we have for several years. This is the second time that there was no baskets in the basket area by the doors. We self checked out & had four items that that we needed help. Checker that helped us said codes had not been corrected. Floors had quite a few papers. We love our Food Max & hope this is not a sign of problems. Thanks for letting us vent
