Tried the tropical tea and the chai tea, loved both. Greeted and served by the friendliest man working. Super cute little coffee shop, really felt like I had the local experience.

This was a fantastic experience! ⭐ We were greeted by a friendly man behind the counter. 😉 We felt so welcomed. The place has this authentic vibe with homegrown art 🎨 on the walls old well worn tables and booths. Jazz 🎺🎷 playing over the speakers. I ordered a panini grilled cheese sandwich with a tomato 🥪 and my son ordered a super coffee drink. 🥤 The prices were unbelievably fair and we decided that we are going to put this place on our favorites list. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Just Amazing! I ordered the veggie sandwich which was served with a delicious peanut coleslaw salad and the chai latte. All these for less than 9$. The prices are so competitive! They also have cookies. The ambiance reminds of The Last Bookstore. And the service was exceptionnally friendly. Nothing to do with a rudest service I got with the StarBuck yesterday. Everyone should go!

Nice find for a coffee which tasted great. Welcoming space inside. There are outside chairs. Staff friendly. Didnt have a food item.

Love this eclectic coffee stop on 6th in San Pedro Ca. Coffee, Art, History, Stoic Sweet Baristos ,OG fellas sharing lifetime stories... Great place to be at! +++++++++++++++++ Sacred grounds...the Coffee shop with flair. Perfectly roasted coffee Which helps chase away any morning frowns With lots of art for your catatonic stare while your order is done with care. Stop on by and enjoy tasty menu items, fresh baked yummies with FRESH ground coffee. See you there!

Very unique place. Not the usual third wave coffee experience but great coffee nonetheless. Truly one of a kind coffee shop. Highly recommend!

It's a funky little shop. Not fancy, inexpensive, roast their own coffee, simple danishes, sandwiches, and a few salads. Not redecorated in forever... but that's why the local crowd appreciates what it is: home roasted coffee for cheap! Inexpensive grilled sandwiches, bagels, or fresh egg salad Sammie, my fave. If you need chic decor and a pricier latté, head to Sirens. I love good cheap value and customers who know each other, friendly vibe and half the typical cost.

My boyfriend and I stopped in for some coffee and a cookie today. We love the cafe! The artwork and atmosphere is inviting and the owner took great pride in serving quality drinks. I highly recommend.

Cozy, warm place to have fresh roasted coffee and danish/cakes early morning or for that yummy afternoon lunchtime sandwich or salad. Great portions at reasonable prices and service with a smile.

A small, very warm, comfortable, friendly, welcoming place to sit down, relax and really take time ENJOYING your hot, tasty beverage. They even freshly roast their own coffee, imagine that !!! Don't forget to have one of their delicious pastries with your favorite, soul-warming drink. I'm definitely going back there again. I think I will soon become a regular customer.

Best Hidden Gem of Coffee and Local Culture in The Los Angeles area. Easy access and plenty of street parking. Covid stinks, it is what it is but I am really looking forward to seeing live music here again. Seeing and hearing live music and locals here is part of the charm. You get a feel that this place is really about good coffee, good conversations, and living the life in San Pedro. This is the best place for coffee, and I love it there!

Probably the last great bohemian-like, free-spirited, relaxed cafe in Los Angeles county. Great vibrations at this place emanating from the proprietor.

I've been a longtime customer @ Sacred. Dave the propeiter and staff are great. Super friendly. Love Tracy!!! Their eccentric menu is great. Made to order sandwiches and coffee drinks are delicious. I enjoy all the different art on the walls and their music nights are fun!

I used to come as a kid, and it's nice to be back as an adult. Coffee is great and the atmosphere is amazing. The prices are affordable and the taste is never compromised.

Stopped in today for a tea and to do some writing and was greeted by a friendly barista and some welcoming locals who gave me the 101 on San Pedro. Great, creative vibe and a style all its own. I look forward to spending more time here in the future. The prices are great too.

Really sweet place. Mellow atmosphere, blues on the radio and terrific tiramisu. We enjoyed our visit here so much it made us think about living in SP. Can't say anything more recommending than that, as we are world travelers and live in a great spot already.

I have been stopping in for a hot espresso drink (used to get Godfather all the time until it stopped) since 2005. I no longer live in San Pedro so I am not there every day like I was lol but I still come in when I can. Absolutely love Sacred Grounds, everyone is so chill and nice to talk to. Always my favorite spot over every other independent coffee shop.

Just visited recently and its great but I miss the old sacred grounds from back in 1998. They were located down the street in the corner, they had bands every Friday, usually happy punk bands, goth kids everywhere and there I was new to the country barely spoke any English I remember a man named Terry who was so nice to me since the beginning, his staff as well were very nice to me all the time. I stopped going there in 2003 I went away to college but definitely this was the place to go back then and for what I just saw its still is. Also of the staff reads this tell them to say Hi to Kira for me she used to work there, I almost asked her to marry me ...

Stumbled on to this gem with Organic coffee last week, l had never noticed it when l would go to the Farmers Market on Fridays. Well worth the stop especially if you have Tracy wait on you. He is attentive, doesn't need to write down anything and makes excellent suggestions. The tacos were big enough to share a plate and very tasty! Found out they have an "open mike" Tuesdays from 7-9pm, so we plan to be back as my friend has a great voice and bringing another friend that also enjoys that. I will be busy clapping and appreciating!

Yeah well they roast their own. If you don't like it, then, well, as they say, "get outta pedro." And that's Peeeedro. I miss me the ghetto by the sea. Especially miss sacred grounds. Decent sandwiches, chill vibe, open mic nights, the occasional punk band, and the Warner Grand is right there. Say hi to Harry Hay for me.

I shouldn't tell you this, but the iced coffee is $2 and there's a secret sandwich and salad menu that will blow your mind and h7g your wallet cuz its all made to order amd SO affordable. My favorite is Tracy's chicken salad sandwich because he mixes the chicken salad to order (who does that?!) and it has a sweetness from the cranberries and the white bread is soft and pillowy, not to mention, the PERFECT bite of sandwich before a crispy, crunchy chip from their kettle chip collection. If you have a sweet tooth, I recommend another coffee and a pecan bar or oatmeal cookie. Also, Raul and Tracy are San Pedro legends and if you're lucky, you can smell the beans roasting on your way up the street from Pacific!!

Very tasty drinks, delicious home made snacks and fun games coupled with friendly and talented employees makes for quite a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. My brother played guitar for Sacred Grounds' weekly open mic night. So the place is highly interactive. Come alone or bring the whole family, and enjoy Sacred Grounds. You're bound to have both a refreshing and entertaining experience.

Great local coffee shop. Excellent range of choices and great taste. Pastries and yogurt available. Service is outstanding. Warmed apple fritter, latte, cappuccino and chai tea were excellent. Decaf available. They have a bookcase and said we could take a book free, which we did. Great place, Easy walk from Crowne Plaza.

The barista was very friendly, he gave off warm uncle vibes. The iced mocha was rich and delicious!! Definitely a casual setting and atmosphere.

Fred was extremely nice. The coffee is affordable and tastes good. I recommend the Sacred Cow, just don't mix it too much.

Local coffee shop. Great service. Not the cleanest, not modern but they roast their own coffee and if coffee is what your looking for then stop grab a cup and stay awhile. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

Old town old fashion coffee shop. Relaxing place.

Espresso was very strong in a homey environment. Very fair prices. They roast their beans in house. And we were surrounded by writers and philosophers.

S

This a good, very laid back local coffee shop. There is plenty of seating and their espresso is decent - I generally drink lattes and vanilla lattes. Every time I've visited, the owners/barristas have been friendly and made me feel welcome. And, there are not a bunch of people on laptops taking up all the tables all day.

This is a no fuss, a low pressure, lazy feel cafe where local grandpa's come for their cup of joe and doughnuts. I can tell there are a lot of regulars. The owner sits around with his friend and as soft jazz music plays in the background. They have wifi, great prices for coffee(drip, self serve thermoses) and espresso drinks. Not a lot to eat, but they toast the bagels for you. Lots of local art work on the walls. Parking on streets, but it's $0.50/hour. There's even a little stage where they "could" have live music. It's pretty old and not necessarily kept up, but that's kind of its charm. No fuss, no pressure, no pretense, just a space to grab some simple coffee with your buddy and hang out to chat.

Very LOCAL, down-home, unpretentious diner. Artsy vibe. Lots of local artwork on display; jazz music on the radio. Interior is funky, definitely not shiny/ slick/ polished. Comfy hangout, though. Sandwiches are handmade, good quality but not outrageous. Prices are low compared to LA or the SF Valley. Pretty decent coffee bar too.

A quick walk from motel to a coffee place with flavour and quirkyness! Good price for reg coffee and multiple choices of brew! Liked the organic Mexican! We added in a few pastries and that was breakfast. Hubbie loved the oatmeal cookie and when he comments, it's noteworthy! Service with a big smile so I'm giving it a thumbs up.

B
Brianna Walters

Decent drinks and pastries available. Open mic nights on some weeknights. Artsy atmosphere. Service was pretty slow, but I enjoyed my drink. The crowd when I went was a little rugged, but kind enough. Kjazz playing over the radio. Ceiling fans made it a comfortable temp. I want to come again and bring my laptop.

It’s easy to see why this neighborhood coffee shop has a loyal following—the prices are very reasonable, and my iced coffee was actually quite good. That said, if you're seeking a more unique or standout coffee experience, it will not deliver. I had to cut my visit short due to a man smoking outside (so many empty tables outside and he sat right next to me), which made it a bit uncomfortable. The indoor space has a vintage look, though it could feel a bit dated.

My family love cruising at night and getting a cup of coffee. Found Sacred Grounds, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the Cafe Mocha and my boys got the Godfather (decaf). It was GOOD! I will return but not anytime soon. There were people inside without masks. Some would come in also without mask. Too bad because the coffee and serve was great and I would like to support small business but I can't if they aren't taking care of their customers too. Maybe then I'll give them 5 stars.

T
Tyler Strause-Tabarés

I recently visited this coffee shop and ordered a double macchiato and a strawberry cheesecake. Unfortunately, the macchiato was disappointing – the flavor was overpowering, and there were coffee grounds in it, though the foam was nice. The strawberry cheesecake was decent, but nothing remarkable. The ambiance was enjoyable, with live music adding a nice touch. However, the space was uncomfortably warm, as the fans were off, making it a bit stifling. Prices were reasonable – neither cheap nor expensive. Since it's conveniently close to where I live, I’ll likely give it another try, hoping they address the issue with the coffee. For now, though, it didn’t quite meet my expectations.

K

The drinks that are served here are pretty mediocre compared to the other local cafés in the area. And so is the service. The atmosphere is a bit... unsettling during certain peak hours with random sketchy people just hanging outside. I would not recommend this place.

M
Molly Sechrist

I only walked in here as I was looking for a coffee shop in this area to relax while I had to wait 2 hours. I walked in and it had good music and energy but the pastry containers were dirty and I looked at the espresso machine and it looked dirty and rusted - I left and went to Sirens down the street

T
Tom Winesett

No pride of ownership at this place. Looks like its going out of business. Not clean we poured our two lattes out after 4 sips. I know it's hard on businesses during covid but no excuse for dirty unorganized public places. Last trip here for us. This place really nice with a little interest from the owners

B
Brad Shreve

Drinks were okay, but it's hard to go wrong when you order an iced coffee and iced tea. No air conditioning so it was sweltering in there. Just stale, hot smoky air being circulated around with fans, To put it nicely, the clientele seemed a bit rough. Those who weren't sleeping were standing directly in the doors smoking. At least six of them at one time were all smoking. Heaven forbid they step out to the sidewalk and miss what was on TV. Noticing cobwebs full of dust made us more than a little concerned about the overall cleanliness of the place. A customer dropped and broke a bottle and was handed a mop and some rags to clean the mess herself. The highlight was when I stepped in the restroom before we left only to have some woman banging on the door screaming for "Eddie." A couple of times I yelled that I was not Eddie which caused her to bang louder and yelling "Oh, come out of there Eddie.". When I stepped out the door she said, "You're not Eddie" and walked to the front counter. What did the staff do while this was going on? Absolutely nothing. We will never go back and suggest you stay away at all costs.

D
Dunko Aras

Coffee machine was last clean when new, espresso is the size of soup ball and the coffee is burnt, served in the paper cup. The dirtiness of the place did not bother me at all, but something to note. At least the walls were interesting for few minutes before we left without finishing our coffees.

S
Sonya Krebs

This place is filthy, they're charging artisanal coffee prices for gas station quality drinks, and there's a lot of sketchy characters around clearly doing drug deals. Had a guy slam down food on a table next to me, then stare me down while loudly smacking on a vile looking potato salad that was 99% mayonnaise. I left immediately and am not looking to come back. Good shop name and that's where the positives stop.

P
Panda Bear

Limited menu, but if they don't have it, the barista is willing to try and make what you ask, if you can tell him how. Lots of old sofas and large tables. The air seemed like it had smoke or something, not fresh and cool. Bummer on a hot LA day. Coffee was off, not bad but off.

R
Raney Kennedy

There were flies buzzing around the food in the front, and I later found out they have a B rating from their health inspection. If you’re interested in searching for it it’s publicly available online and grossed me out enough to never go back. The coffee tasted just ok.
