Great local coffee shop that has been around since my high school days. They have a decent food menu in addition to the coffee.

If you're north of Santa Barbara this is one of the best places to spend an hour over a cup of coffee ....it's a great meetup spot.my favorite is the bagels and cream cheese with tomatoes and they have this delicious special seasoned salt that they add to them.... yummy

A low-key coffee shop that only locals know! Plenty of tables to hunker down at and get some work done. Easy location between Goleta and SB.

The place shines with a bright arora. Friendly staff (who won't say no), great food, and ya, GREAT COFFEE!! You won't find a better place!!

Best coffee shop in Santa Barbara/Goleta. Hands down, bar none. Very laid back, freindly vibe here. Plus a mind blowing variety of coffee/ teas & pastries.

I was so happy to see the Java was serving food at tables again! And the quality of the product is still top notch. The problem was the cross contamination way the UCSB graduate made the lox sandwich. As she touched caper containers, then grabbed a tomato from the visibly dirty cutting board ,grabs the knife ,puts the cream cheese, then grabs these wilted cut onion slices from a plastic container, that the employee has touched several times that day ,and it’s been open the entire time .See ? Gloves or not .Its the ORDER in which you make the sandwich which keeps from making a customer sick ,after paying $14 plus the appropriate tip ,it’s only fair you have your employees who have graduated from culinary school to please see one episode of Bar Rescue before you kill someone, like my Mama.

Been going here for years. Awesome staff. The sandwiches and bagels are good but some of the food is a bit bland. The drinks are good, but specialty drinks like Mocha are sometimes inconsistent from barista to barista. This is a favorite haunt of the UCSB crowd so expect to wait for a seat during school season. That being said, there's just something great about this place that's hard to define. Good energy I guess.

Living in Santa Barbara most of my life, this has become my go to place for coffee, board games, and camaraderie. It has a laid back, friendly atmosphere. There's plenty of other coffee shops to go to in a rush, take your time and enjoy this one.

Our favorite coffee shop in town. I drive all the way up from carpinteria to study and play board games at Java. The baristas here a friendly and their coffee is top notch. Can't compliment this place any more than I have. My girlfriend always orders their chai, which she seems to enjoy. I personally like their house cups - their kona is on point.

Best coffee and nicest barista team on the West Coast. Get it! Just watch out for the Famous Eggnog Latte come Christmas time. It will get you WIRED! Start small. You've been warned. 😉👉🏻

Java Station is a local spot that feels welcoming and unpretentious. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating and a fun menu. The staff is really friendly.

This is our favorite coffee shop! Best café lattés in town. Bagels with cream cheese, tomato and lemon pepper are a favorite. Delicious scones and muffins too. Unique homey ambiance. They light a fire in the fireplace when it is cool outside or they open all the sliders if it is warm. Eat inside or out. Free wireless. What more could you want?

M
Michael V Kelly

Nice place with good seating inside and shaded seating outside. The breakfast burritos are great! Make sure you get there early because they only make a limited number of them each day.

I love Java! My favorite place to get a coffee and sweet scone or muffin while working. Highly recommend the PCB or SB Bagel Melt!

Really good authentic locals only coffee shop. Good selections of coffees and eats and staff are very good to excellent with service being a real plus here. Nice space to lounge and enjoy your coffee with friends. Highly recommended!

Great coffee, great atmosphere, open to the outside air. Stopped here during a vacation to a near by campground. Glad we had a quality local cafe nearby to stop on the way in and out.

If you are in the area or passing through this coffee shop is a place you must visit. Was biking to In-n-out when I discovered this place and Rebecca made my experience very memorable by turning there pride latte into a blended beverage. There is a good amount of seating and a few parking spaces out front.

This spot is something out of Cambridge or Brooklyn. It’s funky, a home grown kind of feel, with food and drinks that taste like they’ve had effort put into them. No pretentious or vanilla vibes at all. LGBTQ friendly and everyone inside is polite and smiles back, customers and employees! Many SB Coffee spots have a sort of…lame, generic, “don’t talk to me”, squeaky clean, get in get out feel. Not Java station, this spot is on point!

K
Kiyo U.E.

Great coffee shop! They make their own peppermint syrup! The staff is very kind and hospitable. Good place to work or meet up with a friend.

Spacious, friendly, and a little punk too. My kind of place! Coffee is good, they use the right kind of ice and sizes are generous. Love the outdoor seating and the laid-back vibe from everyone!

Website advertised a drive through option for picking up coffee, but when I showed up to get my order there was no drive through and the staff was unable to bring my coffee out to me (so please be aware of this when picking up an online order- especially if due to potential Covid contact concerns you don’t want to go inside a restaurant). That being said, even though the above issue did get in the way of me getting the coffee I ordered, the owner was very sweet in terms of apologizing for the miscommunication and refunding me for my order when I wasn’t able to go into the store to pick it up. I really appreciated the high level of understanding and customer service after this mishap. In addition to their amazing coffee and pastries, I really admire that the owner is so empathetic, and will continue to support this wonderful business in the future!

Great coffee shop for having a snack, a cold brew, and bringing a good book or your laptop for getting some work done. Some outdoor seating available as well as a large parking lot for easy off-street parking

Very welcoming staff and atmosphere. The bagels are fresh and delicious. The coffee is just right and Aca and the whole staff are very friendly. Plenty of room to go and enjoy a cup or two of coffee and read a book or have a pleasant sunday morning conversation.

Exceptional atmosphere, great coffee and sandwiches! The carnivore bagel is delicious - never thought I’d enjoy tuna with cream cheese but it works! Loved enjoying my meal next to a roaring fireplace. I’ll be back ASAP

Probably the best coffee shop in Goleta area. Java station is located in a lovely location with a vibrant environment. I go there almost every other day to work on my projects, they have great coffee and many tea options. Furthermore definitely try their bagels! They also have very respectful staff!

It's so refreshing to go somewhere as a stranger and to be greeted warmly! The people here are genuine full of good cheer and smiles. It doesn't hurt that they serve the best cup of coffee in Santa Barbara! A deep hearfelt thanks to Breeze and her co-workers! Much love from your Malibu guest!

Absolutely loved this place. Great coffee and they were super nice to me even though i was filthy from my bike tour. Thank you guys so much. Didn't hurt that everyone was so pretty there too. Great music also. Wish i lived in California just to make this my morning stop for coffee. Thank you guys for everything.

Bagels and coffee are great!!! Cool place to hang out too with indoor/outdoor seating and is pet friendly. They have several board games that you can play too. I wish we lived in a world where 1 Oz of avocado didn't cost $1.50 ;)

Very nice place, fun decor, inclusive place with a large rainbow flag inside. If you go by car, it's hard to find a parking spot but there are small adjacent streets with free parking.

This morning I had a Chai latte and the bacon egg burrito. The latte was amazing and one of the best I have ever tried. I liked the big chunks of potato in the burrito. The staff was also so friendly. Highly recommend this cute place.

A new favorite stop along 101! Wonderful people, great food and drinks, delightful atmosphere. We were stuck with our 5 kiddos in the horrendous day-after-Christmas traffic, and this was our rescue. Yummy muffins and smoothies for the kiddos and a heavenly egg-nog latte for me! Thanks Java Station!!! ❤️☺️❤️

Best Capuccino in town. Friendly service and authentic relaxing neighborhood vibe.

Java station is awesome, been a staple of mine for over 10 years now. I have probably enjoyed 50 bagels with tomato and lemon pepper over the years, and this was a favorite study spot when I was at UCSB. Some constructive criticism - the bagels used to be served toasted and crunchy! The last 5 or so I've had have been sent through the toaster machine far too quickly, the outside barely toasted and the inside soft and doughy. Just thought you all should know that there has been a noticeable change!

Two of us came here for a nighttime chat between 7 and 8:00 closing time. There were still several customers at tables who looked mostly like they were students working on laptops. The woman at the register was friendly and welcoming and patient as we made our selections (chai and an Oreo frap-type drink). After paying we sat at one of the plentiful tables in the spacious dining area, which could benefit from a couch or other form of cozier seating than the current tables and chairs. Other than that it’s a nice setup. I wasn’t crazy about the chai-it tasted a bit harsh and wasn’t hot-more very warm. I should’ve asked for a reheat and I’m sure it would’ve made it yummier or maybe I’m just a picky person-lol. My friend greatly enjoyed her Oreo drink however and it disappeared before I could even ask for a taste. At 8:00 we were so deep in conversation that we didn’t realize almost everyone else had cleared out for closing. And yet, the staffperson did not hustle us out as she was busy clearing up in back. She did, however, warmly bid us a good evening. Really good service here, and next time I’ll have tea or coffee or one of those tall Frappuccino type drinks.

What a gem! Thoroughly impressed with everything about this spot. Unique layout, friendly chill staff, seemingly fire locally sourced produce and bagels. Got the classic bagel melt and it is a dream breakfast option. Americano also brings some niche crafted coffee beans. Will be stopping in from now on while in the area.

I regularly come to Java Station to do work and hang out. The atmosphere here is phenomenal. The staff are all incredibly kind and foster a genuine sense of community that is–in my opinion–completely unrivaled. If you don't like your drink they will happily remake it and make it to your liking. They exhibit a commitment to quality that you would be hard-pressed to find in any other coffee shop/cafe. As a result, the drinks are all delicious, and the food is equally so. I really can't sing the praises of this place enough.

Java Station is the best! I’ve been coming here for years. It’s a great place to get some work done on a laptop, chat with friends, or pop into during a weekend bike ride. The staff is always friendly and lots of seating inside and outdoors. And the drinks and food are great!

Best Tuna Sandwiches (on Ciabatta) and Cold Brew in Santa Barbara, bar none! The humans who work for Java Station are lovely, colorful, artistic, and fun. They have welcoming smiles. People are always coming in to Java Station for homework, Majong, dates, or enjoying a sweet respite, at one of their indoor or outdoor tables. They feature Chris Potter art on their walls. Java Station is a neighborhood kind of place. Free parking. They feature the award winning Klatch coffee. BEST COLD BREW EVER!! I love Java Station. Friday nights, they feature a stellar COMEDY CLUB. Fun! Dine in, dine out. Take out. Breakfast and Lunch. Be sure to get lunch before 2:30 pm or they won't have any food left, they are that good! Wheelchair accessable.

I love this place. Super friendly staff. My favorite is the Tri Tip Sandwich. Perfectly balanced meat to veggie ratio. I also get a fresh baked scone and eat that while I wait for the sandwich to be made. Highly recommended. My stop from Los Angeles to SLO! See you Saturday morning!

Self-serve coffee is great. Love the atmosphere. And it's away from the madness that is Isla Vista.

Never tried the food. Have always had coffee. They use Klatch coffee. I like Dune and Handlebar over Klatch. In my opinion. The vibe is good. LGTBQ+ friendly. The coffee is solid. Can always find a table. Can always find a place to park. Depending on where you're coming from it's kind of in a random place, Over by the U-haul and the other entrance to Hope Ranch. Kitty corner from the European Market. I would recommend though for sure.

C

I love this coffee shop! The coffee is good and the environment is chill and relaxing. Bottomless coffee is great and dangerous! My one critique is that they should start renting their boardgames. It would make this place an even more enjoyable place to hangout!

Our order was bacon and egg bagel with cream cheese. It's a knife and fork bagel, open face I guess it's what it would be. Bacon was great. Americano coffee was great also. Nice place to 😌

I come here multiple times each week to work or as a treat before school with my daughter. I drink black coffee and enjoy the French roast. The bagels are toasted crispy on the edges, which is how I like them. I took a star off of the food review because (1) the breakfast burrito is tasty, but doesn’t have the feeling of a fresh, made-to-order meal and (2) I had a smoothie that still had 1/4 of a banana left at the bottom. The service is exceptional and caring. They make an extra effort to make coffee shop visits a special outing for my daughter and her interaction with them over the years has led to an increase in confidence and independence to wait in line and ask for help.

Fantastic, locally-owned & operated coffee shop featuring a wide selection of coffees, teas, bagels and burritos. Staff is super friendly and service is prompt. Indoor & outdoor seating. Usually busy and parking can be tricky but well-worth it to visit and enjoy! Cash & credit cards accepted. Great selection of both green and black teas in addition to their coffee offerings - not to mention smoothies, Italian sodas, etc. Their bagels are delicious and they make some great sandwiches with them. They also serve some pastries, croissants, and sweet-breads. Generous with the butter and cream cheese. Great place to kick back and catch up with friends. Parking lot is usually full, but also look for parking along the sides of the building and in back. Small amount of on-street parking also available on the side-street.

This coffee house is an awesome and intimate place to grab, well, a coffee but also sandwiches, baked goods, and a variety of teas and other drinks. Lots of seating and very inclusive. The people who work here are, without exception, incredible. Friendly, efficient, quick to remember names; such service is almost always the hallmark of the owner…which makes me think that whomever the owner of this special place is pretty awesome because everyone working here is invested in creating a great experience. While we’re only in SB two months a year, we feel so lucky to be able to visit Java Station daily when we’re there.

Great place to work and grab a coffee or even read a book! The staff were super kind and had a great number of selections for tea as well. Great local independent coffee house serving up delicious continental breakfast fare in a large unassuming space. The staff are warm and friendly and go out of their way to make each customer feel like part of their family. In typical independent fashion, the walls are adorned with paintings for sale from local artists, and the bachelor pad style furnishings are an eclectic mix of indoor and outdoor furniture plus whatever was available at local garage sales.

This really sweet girl Issie recommended I go here and was telling me all about their coffee, how the beans are “cherry-picked” & they use Ghirardelli chocolate for their mochas. I immediately headed over here instead of Starbucks. Best mocha in town. Rich, robust chocolate and coffee flavor! Would opt for this place any day over any other coffee shop I’ve tried so far. I like their arnold palmer and their blended coffee drinks, the drip coffee is good but not amazing. The service is fine though I on occasion have found them to be a little bit curt. The price you are charged can be slightly higher than what is printed on the menu. I don't mind paying more but I do think they should correct the displayed prices to reflect that. Overall it is a very nice coffee shop and I like going there.

Great espresso drinks. Classic style (what you'd expect in Europe), not hipster SF espresso. The crowd, though. Who are these people? They feel like they could be students who live in hope ranch on a field trip at a KOA in Arizona. Mixed with the older entitled bourgeoise, of course.

Service is good, everyone that works there greets you with a smile. Super friendly! The food could have been better. The lox deluxe bagel was good, but wish I was given a few more slices of lox for the cost. The blueberry muffin is a little gritty, but good otherwise. Went here to do some work, but it’s more of a hangout space as the music is too loud and it’s typically rock.

The atmosphere in this coffee place is amazing, from their unique decor to their back patio sitting. It seems to be very popular, I was craving coffee and an avocado toast, yes, for lunch. The coffee was amazing, the toast was OK, I was sad that 2 people that got there after me got their food before me. Also, they kept burning the bread, new employees??? Maybe. What I saw was that the employees lack focus and drive. But then it is typical around here. You are not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy. I do recommend coming here. I will definitely come back. Hopefully, next time, things will go better.

Love the atmosphere but every time I ask for my beverage extra hot it’s still tepid at best. Today after tasting my drink it wasn’t very hot so I mentioned it to the girl who made it. Her response ‘Wow! If I served that to someone else they’d burn their tongue! But I can re-steam it if you’d like.’ I shrugged, said no thanks and left with my drink. That was such a passive aggressive response. How does she know if it would burn someone? She didn’t taste it. I did and I guarantee you it was not hot! It was warm. And it was a large in a medium cup with an inch of foam. If I’d wanted that much foam I’d order a cappuccino. I feel petty for complaining about a coffee but when I was charged $5.71 I figure it needs pointing out.

Pretty good location for a mid-ride stop on an easy bike ride from downtown Santa Barbara. We enjoyed the indoor ambiance and atmosphere, good seating, both indoor and out. My coffee was very average. I had a latte that was entirely too milky and not nearly strong enough with espresso. Plus it was barely luke warm. My pumpkin muffin was the highlight. It was deliciously satisfying, well spiced, plus they microwaved it for me. So the good plus the bad makes it an average experience.

I’ve been here a few times, generally for black coffee. I love the variety they have of this and the discount they offer for bringing your own container. I also love the atmosphere. On Wednesday, I asked for two, small dirty chais and a bagel + avo + cc. The chais were $4.95 each for a “small”— 8 ounces. I’m all about supporting local businesses because local is better! But unfortunately this was disappointing chai because it tasted like the ingredient ratio was off. I’ve had a dirty chai here before so it was just a confusing experience taste buds wise. Overall, I would go back, but not for a dirty chai. Also, you should try their bagel + tomato + lemon pepper + cream cheese + onion + cheese. Delish.

The menu items can leave a bit to be desired. It's hit or miss depending on the day. Sometimes delicious but at others a waste of money. For example, a Carne toast with egg that was unpalatable. Unripe slices of tough tomatoes on breakfast or bagle sandwiches not enjoyable. Very thin layer of cream cheese and produce that have long since seen their peak or were poorly grown and produced, resulting in somewhat unpalatable food. Too many times have had to toss food. Sometimes everything is soggy and yucky. The coffee at times can be bitter. But then on a good day, everything taste great and yummy. Why? Overall too much inconsistency and lack of care in delivering delicious food and coffees. Need some changes. Hope this shop gets back to being special as UT once was! Friendly staff and great service. .... Am knocking them down one point today, new staff and for some reason twice now have had trouble with their coffee drinks, not sure why.. subpar twice in a row.. Also was sure their lox deluxe had something extra on it, but seems I'm wrong? Couldn't find a menu so I could check that. Hope will be back up to 5 stars a bit later. This place changes from time to time but overall is excellent. The staff is kindly, attentive and they make sure you have what you want, if not they will correct it. My standby place for their tomato, avocado toast which is the best I've had anywhere. Also love their bagel sandwiches and spreads, actually everything is good here. My one complaint is that at times their expresso makes me wonder just how low the caffeine content is. Tastes lovely but I want it to wake me up too.

Nice staff, cool atmosphere. Seems like a family run business. It was the perfect blend of busy but still tables open. Coffee gave me instant jitters and a less happy belly - with a latte. That doesn’t typically happen to me so check it out for yourself. If you don’t like really acidic coffee I’d pass.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and excellent customer service during my visit from LA to San Luis Obispo. However, I noticed that the restroom may benefit from some additional cleaning attention. I believe addressing this area could further enhance the overall experience for guests. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

The Tomatoes avocado 🥑 cream cheese bagel was delicious. The zucchini loaf was delicious. Coffee and latte expectations was not met.

Great coffee in a chill vibe place. The food has really tanked recently. I used to enjoy eating here but something has changed. The bread tastes like a bag of shty bread from the grocery store. Used to be fresh and chewy and delicious now it is insipid and bland. The service is average.

Coffee oatmilk latte with hazelnut meh.... Coffee blended goes down as the worst, in history. Service..... better at a JiffyLube and they don't care about customer service.

Since they took out the old comfortable furniture and the circular seating area, its lost its character. Service is also abysmally slow, in fact three people had to swap their student IDs for AARP cards they were waiting so long. They also close too early.

I thought the reason I paid for a 4 dollar medium drip coffee was because I would get a refill. Because of this I only filled my cup half way. I didn't like the French Roast much so I finished it and tried the Kona. It was cold. When I tried to speak to someone the three girls behind the counter were too busy talking to each other to pay attention to me. So I left.

I ordered a coffee and a quiche. The quiche came out cold. I asked them to reheat it and they did, but it was still cold in the middle afterwards. While the coffee is good, the meal was disappointing because of this.

Breakfast burrito had zero flavor. Espresso was burnt and overly bitter. Had to throw away both.

The atmosphere was nice when walking in, but the quality of the drink was poor, in my opinion. I ordered a blended Chai, and it was made quickly which was nice. But unfortunately I believe it was speed over quantity AND quality. The cup it was in wasn't filled all the way, it was a good inch or two below the top. Not only that the taste was not something I would pay for again. It would be described as bitter, bland, and unappetizing. Overall, I would not recommend and won't be coming back

Asked for an iced latte, got a hot one. Ordered a basil ricotta scone that was labeled $3, got charged $6. Had a craving for avocado toast, got served the blandest avocado toast I’ve ever had with barely any avocado and some weird lemony chemical tasting salt on top. The bread left a lot to be desired, I’ve gotten better bread at Walmart. Not impressed.
