Tip: If you go, be prepared for potential shortages and long lines, especially around dinner time. Consider ordering a bowl instead of a burrito to avoid wrapping issues.

Yea, they skimp sometimes, but this is the only chipotle in Santa Barbara, and I would hate to give a bad review. There have been some mediocre experiences, but not enough to override the many great ones! If this chipotle were to close down, I would have to drive across town to Goleta to get one. It is my favorite meal of all time, therefore it’s a 5 star review.

Personally, I love Chipotle so much. I get the same thing every time I go. I love it so much I literally have gone a few times in a row. My order is a bowl with brown rice 🍚 black beans 🫘 steak 🥩 (double meat) and on the top corn 🌽 salsa extra on the bowl too. Then I get a side of sour cream 2 of them with an extra side of the corn salsa. Idk why its my favorite I Love it 😀
I love some good chipotle. Prices are a little high these days though. Gotta take that one up with big fast food. Overall 8/10
I can’t rave enough about Fabricio! I came closer to closing which I really don’t like doing but I was craving chipotle, and he didn’t skip a beat. He was happy, caring, and a hard worker. Customer service A1 thank you so much again Fabricio!

This place is pretty good. If you are not dining in I think the best way to go is to call in a mobile order. That way its ready when you arrive. There are usually lines so that should cut down any wait. I think the food is pretty good, I usually get a variety of meats with a bowl. The one thing I will say though is that they are pretty skimpy on the portion size of the meat. And if you ask for double meat, what you get for the price, is not worth it. I don't really come here that often any more because of this. If you were eating burrito or something you might not notice it as much, but when its a bowl, you totally do. Healthier food choice though.
I come to chipotle twice a month for the salad bowl and I swear every single time that I come and order my salad bowl they tell me that they’re out of dressing. Half of the time if you ask them to check the back, they actually find more dressing, and the other half they’re just out of salad dressing for the salad. Can you just make more salad dressing?? It’s not that hard and dressing should definitely come with the salad!
Big bowl portion, not as much meat, but still good fresh flavours evenly spread. There wasn't a line, so received quick service. Take-out and enjoy Shoreline park views.

Order couple of entrees most of the items were very salty including sofritas , fajita veggies. Probably the most sodium I have had in one meal for a while.
I ordered a burrito and asked for rice she added it, no problem. Then I asked for chicken, and she barely filled the spoon halfway. I thought she was going to go back for more, or maybe she was joking, but instead she just asked what else I wanted. There were seriously only a few tiny pieces of chicken in my burrito. Like, do you really think 12 little bits of chicken are enough for a full-sized tortilla? So I asked her if she could add more, and she hit me with, “So you want double?” I said yeah, I just want more — I didn’t even realize they charged extra for double. But let’s be real, it’s not even “double” if the first scoop wasn’t even full to begin with. And before anyone says, “You’re really complaining over a couple dollars?” yes, yes I am. Because if I’m paying for it, I expect to get what I paid for. I did want to say something, but I didn't want to cause a scene, just next time make sure you give people what they pay for.
Chipotle tastes great but this location lacks on their availability of ingredients nearly every time I come by. Order online and go light on everything besides rice and beans. Just wish this location was more substantial like every other Chipotle location I have tried.
There always seems to be at least half a dozen employees working at any given time, and yet the restaurant is constantly filthy. The dining area seems to get wiped down maybe once a day (if that), the trash cans are often overflowing, and the napkins/utensils are usually understocked. On top of that, it seems like at least one item is out of stock on any given day (3 fountain drink flavors are "out of order" today.) I don't want to dunk on the individual employees, who I'm sure are overworked and underpaid, but somebody in management is really dropping the ball here.
I’m a big fan of Chipotle — good food at a fair price. That’s why it’s disappointing that the only Chipotle in Santa Barbara isn’t living up to its potential. The customer service isn’t bad because the employees are rude (they’re not); it’s clear they just haven’t been properly trained in hospitality. Cleanliness could definitely be improved, and it’s frustrating how often they run out of essentials — whether it’s a type of meat or even utensils and napkins at the station. I don’t blame the staff; I believe the real issue lies with management and training. This location has so much potential to be a standout spot in Santa Barbara. I truly hope to see it rise to the level it’s capable of. Kudos to the team working there, still putting in the effort.
I come here after the gym a lot and I have held off from writing a review, but I can't anymore. It's infuriating to me that I come here around 7pm, prime dinner time, and I would say 4/5 times I come they are out of SOMETHING I want. sometimes they are out of half of the meat, or don't have veggies or no guacamole. It's always something. I come here because I want my specific bowl with all the ingredients. On top of that, the line will be out the door and they will sometimes have ONE person assembling all of the food and move so slow. You'd think a business would staff up their restaurant with plenty of workers for prime dinner time and have all of the offered menu items. I also never mind waiting a little longer, but for example, I came in last night and they were out of fajita veggies, I said that's fine, I can wait for some, but no they said they are not making anymore. You are not making any more veggies at 7pm? Just ridiculous. Please do better!
Ordered several veggie bowls and were out of lettuce and veggies (45 mins before close). Got essentially a half bowl. The server was also pretty non caring. I asked for a tortilla on the side and for him to at least include that due to the half empty (I understand this was not an expectation but a courtesy request and his response was “you asked for it”) which is to be fair accurate. Not a good experience nor good food for what I’m paying for.

Everytime i go in there they are out of meat at the time... also unfriendly staff. Bought an 8 dollar bag of chips and queso because once again they were out of meat and when I got to work all the chips were broken in tiny little pieces. Whoever runs this place needs to step it up.
Hire more people. This is by far the slowest and least efficient Chipotle in the world. 2 people in front of me in line and takes 15 minutes to get to me. Seriously? And they run out of food fairly often. I don’t even show up after 6pm because of that.
It is the worst chipotle I have ever gone the smallest portion and rude stuff
The restaurant was revolting! The table and the floor were dirty, the rubbish bins were overflowing and I had to ask for cutlery because the containers with the cutlery were empty (and also dirty!). It was fairly quiet so the four young men working there had time to mess around - imagine our surprise and horror when one let out a loud burp! The food was ok, but sitting in such a dirty restaurant made it difficult to enjoy.
As a former Chipotle worker at a different location I can confidently say this is the worst Chipotle I have ever been to. The tables are dirty, there is always a line out the door, small portions, self serve station is never stocked, staff is unwelcoming and rude. Came at dinner time and they were out of hard shell tacos, guac, and white rice. All around very disappointed.
Worst managed chipotle ever, all the food was bad, line 45 min long, people just started leaving without their food
Placed An Order Online. Called 1 min after sending my order spoke with Ana I specifically told her if they can throw extra white rice in my burrito she said Yes. My Burrito first of all I paid extra for the Extra tortilla it didnt come double wrapped. Steak was cold. She gave me a Whole Box of white rice with no spoon... Common Chipotle..
I ordered dinner for my squad via mobile order. The order was suppose to be ready at 7:40, I knew it would take a little longer so I got there at 7:50. When I got there, there was a line to the door and no one being served and maybe 5 of us waiting for mobile orders. I didn't get my food until 8:10 and they finally started serving people in line. When I got back to work, 2 of our burritos were completely wrong and one of the four bowls had the wrong ingredients. I was so excited to try the honey chicken and this experience just reminded my why I dislike going to this Chipotle.
They give you no meat, I barley started liking chipotle and Starbucks these last two years and both have become awful chipotle skimps badly on the meat a quarter scoop every time Starbucks watered down frappes
Worst chipotle I’ve ever been to. Always disgusting and out of so many ingredients. Workers have terrible attitude for no reason. There will either be 2 workers manning the whole restaurant or a ton of them not doing anything at all to help. No matter how many employees there have been at one time they are always out if something. Food is always stale or hard and has no flavor. Price is always so high for the minuscule portions they give. Place is disgusting despite how many capable workers are there to take the trash out or clean the drink area. This place should be shut down or have some good management hired to shape them up. Have waited 40 minutes in restaurant for an order placed online and ahead of time, as well as a long time in line multiple times for none of the ingredients to be ready that I wanted for my order and had to settle for other ones because of the huge line behind me despite 7+ employees working the front line.
If I could give zero stars I would but apparently it’s not possible. I have never experienced such terrible and unprofessional service, not only was the food terrible but the only two workers that were there were very unprofessional and used profanity words like if talking to a friend. We waited about 30 minutes for a bowl of food!!! If the food was good the wait would’ve been worth it, but the chips were stale and the brisket had no sauce and it was very dry. The food prepping area was filthy!!! There was no ice and barely any fountain drinks. At some point a group of young men came in and just started talking to the cashier and even went behind the counter and just started a casual conversation like if there wasn’t a line of 10 people almost to the door. I have never complained about a restaurant but me and my husband are not from the area and just wanted a meal before we hit the road. I see I’m not the only negative review here so please do something about it.
Litterally the worst chipotle i’ve ever been to. The employees were so rude, it was dirty, Our food took over 30 minutes for a mobile pickup order meanwhile i watched them make over 20+ other people’s food instead of ours. The manager lady (bigger mexican girl) was so rude and dismissive and almost seemed MAD when i asked if they had received the order. The girl who actually brought out the food litterally brought out mine and 3 other mobile orders and got mad when she saw there was a line of us waiting. Worst chipotle ever. Do not come here, employees are rude and incompetent.
The Chipotle located in 3851 State Street Suite A, Santa Barbara 93105, should replace the staff with new staff that knows what customer service is all about, and without customers your business will not flourish. Last Wednesday Nov-13th at noon all the customers standing in line were asked to leave and only on line customers are served, customers made the effort to go out and enjoy their meal and the store sends them out. I went with my wife to Panda Express and the line was long, we didn’t mind, we were served 10 minutes later, with the best service, meal and customer satisfaction, thank you Panda Express.
The worst Chipotle I have ever been to by far. This location is constantly dirty and messy, understaffed, way too busy, food is never consistent and they are frequently out of many key ingredients. I have literally never seen them clean the tables or chairs, trash is usually overflowing and counters which they make the food on are filthy. They never half enough people working, which leads to lines out the door, insane wait times (30+ minutes many times I have been) and being out of most of the ingredients; I truly feel for the employees at this location. The chicken is almost always too salty, the rice hard, the other ingredients have either been sitting there too long or they are out of them. Last week, they were out of every meat for multiple days due to a grill problem. This week they didn't open until 4+ hours after they are supposed due to management issues (quitting-makes sense), yet still let people order online when they couldn't get their orders. I waited over two hours to get my burrito. Absolutely ridiculous, will make a concerted effort to never come here again.
I wish I would of read the reviews before dining here. I was in town for work and needed to eat somewhere at 830pm. Walked in and the line was to the door with one employee behind the line making everyone's orders and checking them out one by one. I counted at least 5 other employees that I saw come from the back and then return after grabbing something from the front. Long story short, I waited at least 30 mins in line before getting to the front. They were out of multiple items on the food line (Brown Rice, Pinto Beans, Fajitas Veges, etc.) along with no more chips. Once I went over to the drinks, 3/4 of the sodas were out of syrup and the ones that had it were spitting more CO2 while all 4 of their juices were out. Then we get to the dinning room, where there was a spill in the middle of the floor that needed to be mopped up and all the trash cans were overflowing so bad that the trash was leaning against the walls. When I got done, I went to read the reviews and saw this was not a one off situation. I am surprised these issues haven't been fixed... Would not recommend this location to anyone...
I usually have a decent time here, it’s not stellar service but the food is good. However, tonight I came here just for a bowl and had the worst service I could’ve had. The guy working at the counter tonight had a massive attitude from the start of my order, he wouldn’t even look at me. At the end I asked him to shake the bowl to even the food, he refused and said I can shake the bowl myself and didn’t even close it all the way. At that point I would’ve just gone to a buffet and done it myself, this was an utterly disappointing experience.
My veggie bowl was a bowl of rice. The bell peppers and onions were completely raw, fully crisp. Is this a joke? Was I suppose to take this home and cook it myself? I am so confused.
So we wait through a long line only to be told they have no cheese or steak. Instead of being apologetic about it they were very rude. Then when we said we would go to the other Chipotle across town they told us not to bother as they were even more understaffed and we should just order their. I explained can't order what they don't have. Whent to the other location and they were super nice and friendly and most importantly they had the food we wanted
Normally love it... But recently got a little skimpy with their portions which was a disappointment... Especially because the minimal amount I got was nacho libre nuclear volcano luchadore level spicy... I know I know I'm white.... But dear lord, that would've incapacitated a relatively large chihuahua had it been in their bowl.. 🥵🌋🚨🌡️🔥
Wednesday 17/04/24 at 4:00 pm There is ONLY ONE Person talking orders and using the register at the same time, and about 5 other employees doing..!!! Where ever they were doing but helping the person who was helping us customers waiting in line for service 5-7 of us. For every order this person was making he need it to wash his hands and put a new pair of gloves after dealing with credit cards and cash!! I’m the last customer in line.. it’s going to take him 4-6 minutes for customer!! That means that my wait is about 20-30 minutes … NOT for a “Fast Food Restaurant “

Abysmal experience, the food portions are the worst I’ve ever seen, the food is cold, the drinks are flat, the workers are rude
I try to be understanding for the past year but they never have Ice in the machine, No rice or chicken ready. They have more than 6 people in the back but 1 to 2 workers in the front dealing with a long line. Food portion just gets smaller but prices are rising... like how? Always disappointing each visit and it's always the same issue on my end. Who ever in charge of this place needs to be replaced with higher and better tasks for the team.
worst ran Chipotle I've ever been to. 1 person in the front while line is out the door. at least 5 employees in the back preparing doordash orders. while literally nothing to serve in the front. waited 15 mins just to learn they only had chicken left, no rice, no lettuce and no tortillas. what kind of a joke is that? i feel sooo bad for this young generation, i swear to god. and they walk around like robots completely ignorant to their Duties as an employees and representing the company with @leastdecent customer service. by the time i reached the cash register, dude was literally holding a pathetic looking half empty bowl, and said, with a blank straight face, " will that be all for you today? that'll be $12.89.
Small portions, out of steak, line out the door, overcooked food. Always seems to kevin’s shift. They just denied me my rightful portions. Im taking this to cooperate this is the 4th time in a row.
Severely understaffed. Line is often out the door. You can’t trust your online orders here (I ordered steak w/extra chicken and did not have any steak). The staff have been pretty rude before, but I suspect that is due to their understaffing issue. I wish this place was run better. I miss the downtown location.
employees dont know how to roll burritos, watched two get mangled before i ordered so i got a bowl. pitiful portion of meat. employee took very little care in assembly, didnt allow beans or pico to drain so i got slop, and the chips were stale and sad. cannot recommend, but atleast its real food in a pinch.
Tables are always dirty, and I swear that half the nights, they dont have fajita mix after 7pm. Frequently are out of other items too.
Walked in, line was rather long and I could see that they were out of a lot of options. Once I ordered the staff seemed to not know what they were doing and kept looking at each other for answers, my burrito was really badly wrapped and almost fell apart in my car all over the seats
Visited this Chipotle during a weekday around 3pm. The trash cans were overflowing onto the floor, none of the tables were bused, there was trash on the floor throughout the restaurant, the flat top / grill had burned food on the entire surface, they were out of steak, they were almost out of all the other proteins, the queso looked like it had been there for a couple of hours based on the surface of the queso being dried, the drink station had trash on the counter, they only had a handful of forks, there were no spoons or knives, they were almost out of napkins, and the cashier basically tossed me my bag. They had about 5 to 6 people working and possibly the manager in her office working on something. The restaurant was definitely not busy. There were about four of us in line not including the people coming in to get water cups and leaving with a cup of soda. I initially thought they just got hammered by a rush. However based on other reviews, it appears many other people have made the same observations. The chicken in my bowl was burned and crispy. They definitely went light on the chicken in my bowl. But the guacamole, brown rice, cheese, beans, and cheese were fine. The person making the bowl was pleasant. Never coming back. The health department probably needs to visit this restaurant.
This is the worst chipotle I have ever been to. Constantly 1 person making food and ringing people while 6 people are in the back so it takes 20 minutes with 3 people ahead of you. Constantly out of things. Today they were out of both carne asada and steak. Was told 25 minutes before those were ready. They weren't even cooking steak yet because they had chicken on the grill and were almost out. Whoever is doing the managing needs to be fired. It's chaos every time I go in
Do you like meat on your meal? Then this is not the chipotle for you, its like the meat is coming out of the servers pockets. Chipotle is our favorite Fast food restaurant, and we came as a family and out of the 5 orders we made, only one had enough meat for one plate but its only because I ordered double meat, and was it double meat? No, it was still a single portion, i can see why it’s full of bad reviews never coming back to this chipotle ever again.
The food is fine but the manager is actually one of the rudest people I’ve encountered in customer service. My girlfriend tried to use a promo code to order queso and chips with her online order and when she showed up she didn’t get the queso and chips, so she tried to ask if she could redo the order or find away to make it work and in response the manager came over and proceeded to talk down to her and be as rude as possible while berating her.my girlfriend had to leave to cry, because she just wanted chips and queso and got treated terribly. Like come on it’s just chips and queso and she just wanted help figuring out what she had to do to use a promo code that she had. Unreal.
