Opiniones de La Super-Rica Santa Barbara
El Super Rico Taqueria Santa Barbara Review El Super Rico Taqueria is one of those Santa Barbara staples where simple, honest Mexican comfort food becomes something unforgettable. Fresh tortillas, sizzling meats, and bold, balanced flavors make every plate feel like the definition of “done right.” The tacos are the highlight juicy, perfectly seasoned, and paired with salsas that bring just the right kick. Even when the line stretches out the door, the food comes out fast and consistently delicious. And here’s the fun bit of local lore: this was Julia Child’s favorite spot in Santa Barbara. If the queen of French cuisine was lining up for these tacos, you know they’re doing something special. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, El Super Rico Taqueria is a must stop for authentic flavor and that classic SB charm.
I've been coming to La Super-Rica since I was a UCSB student in the late 80s/early 90s. Every time I'm in the area, I make sure to have a meal here. The tamal de verduras is my absolute favorite. On this trip, I told Isidoro that I remembered him from 35 years of visits and we had the sweetest chat. I love that this SB institution is still here, basically unchanged. Always cozy, friendly, affordable and delicious.
Our second time here while visiting SB. We ordered 2 out of their specialties, both are super good - chicken breast one and stuffed Pasilla with vegetables. So good with their salsa. We also ordered #16 and #10.
An awesome find for us, what amazing food and friendly staff. This place is just unreal and some of the best tacos we’ve had. Limited seating a can gt very busy but we went midweek and was so impressed. CASH ONLY and you’ll need about $50 for a couple (we had a lot!). Highly recommended.
This place has been serving up a menu of unique Mexican dishes for over 3 decades. Of course the Super Rica Especial is most popular but they have a lot of meat and vegetarian options
I almost hesitate to tell you how great this place is because I don’t want it to get overrun! Everything about this place is 5 star excellent. The staff is so warm, wonderful and attentive to your needs, even when there is a line out the door behind you! The food is super fresh and delicious and arrived surprisingly quickly given how busy they were and everything looks like it is made to order. What a gem!
Still the best taco spot in SoCal. Authentic flavor, filling and made to order. The Tamal Norteno had incredible flavors and great texture to it's masa. Never pass up a trip to eat there if driving thru Santa Barbara!
Best tacos in SB! Total local spot with great bites and plenty of seating. We had our dogs with us for a day trip out of LA and sat at a shady table in their large outdoor patio. The food was delicious and was for fresh. Definitely what you’d like of for solid California Mexican cuisine.
La Super Rica is an absolute gem in Santa Barbara! During our six-day visit, we couldn’t resist coming back three times—it’s just that good. The food tastes like a homemade masterpiece, full of authentic, fresh flavors that you won’t find anywhere else. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience that we’ll be raving about for years!
I haven’t been here in DECADES! And it was just as good as I remembered. The staff was warm and friendly despite the line being out the door, you did t feel rushed to order. They make their tortillas by hand and you can absolutely taste the difference in that alone. I haven’t had anything bad here. Everything is great, you won’t go wrong. Be adventurous and try something other than the steak tacos. *CASH ONLY*
Wow, now I understand! A sleepy, warm Thursday evening… I had cash and time… there was no line… today I will try La Super-Rica. So so glad I did. Wait is long, even when there was no line, I waited around 25 minutes. Cash only. I ordered the adobado taco & a special, a pork tamale with red cream sauce. While waiting, I met this guy who has been coming here for over ten years, he told me the history and how he always recommends ordering from the specials menu, especially the tamales! The salsas were divine. Highly recommend the green one, and EXTRA TORTILLAS! The tamale was heavenly, so much flavor and depth. Mid-bite I discovered there were olives inside and that range of salty bitterness against mild spice - wow. A must-stop if you have time on your hands (if you’re in a rush, you might get stressed). Also, there is an amazing sitting area with so much natural light and bright color that feels like a warm family dining room, totally makes the wait feel less enduring. Will be back and highly recommend!
If you find yourself in Santa Barbara, do yourself a favor and stop by La Super-Rica. This place has probably the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. It’s off the beaten path but worth finding. The line outside will be a sure sign you are in the right place. The ingredients are fresh. They make their own tortillas and a variety of fresh salsas to eat with your meal. Everything I have tried here has been exceptional. It’s not fancy but it’s authentic and very reasonably priced. I will never miss a visit here while in the area.

La Super-Rica is an Iconic place. #16 is a must! Everything is great. \nExcellent food and staff!
Delicious freshly prepared food at reasonable prices. Order at the counter & expect to wait for a while because they make it after you order... homemade tortillas, too.

Free food and great prices. The indoor outdoor atmosphere is a nice touch, as is the no-frills experience.
Incredible authentic mexican food. Had a pork tamale, chili relleno and steak tacos. Will be back whenever I am in town.

Sooo good! Worth the wait. Prices are great. My new favorite spot. I will be back anytime I am near here!! Tortillas were superb. I may have to go back tomorrow before I head home.
The best homemade tortillas. The service is fast and clean. Santa Barbara is beautiful. The street is close to everything. Old school delicious. A must try when visiting The area.

Food was great! Everything is super simple and delicious. The day before we were in another Mexican food place, paid twice as much and not half as good.

Well, the queue in front of it is the best way to describe this place. It looks familiar, it is freshly prepared and it is good.

I had their super rica tri tip special and It was very delicious but it has a fajita vibe bc they add bell peppers and onions. I would order a different plate next time. But It is very good, I highly recommend this place!
This is one of my favorite taco shops in Santa Barbara. Authentic flavors. Cash only. They also have a secret menu with Menudo (subject to availability)!!!
We enjoyed our time at La Super Rica. We liked the tacos de adobado as well as chorizo tacos/quesadillas. The meat was the star of the show to us. I felt that it was really well made and the tortillas were also good. We also got the chile con queso which neither of us loved. Overall, our food was solid and I am glad we came here but I did feel that it was overhyped for what it was. Note- it is cash only.
Homemade tortillas are always a very good sign of a great place to eat. The corn tortillas here are fantastic. The guacamole is very fresh and flavorful as is the salsa bar at the pick up window. The number 16, Super-Rica Especial is the top recommendation by the locals. It has roasted chile pasilla, cheese and marinated pork, on 3 tortillas. It was rather enjoyable and something to try. The number 12) Pechuga Suiza, is grilled chicken breast with melted cheese between 2 corn tortillas. I added some guacamole and their homemade salsa which took this dish to the next level of greatness. I highly recommend trying it. I also tried the chili relleno which comes in a white cream sauce instead of the typical red sauce. It was very cheese but not my cup of tea. I wouldn’t order it again. If you’re in Santa Barbara I would recommend heading over to La Super-Rica. The food is good, the people working there are so very friendly and the restaurant is super clean.

Very famous, of course, and we had to wait in line to order. We had tacos de bistec, chile pasilla, and some other samplings. We loved the specialties, but felt the tacos were just ok.

I made a mistake. I am not from the area, but for those looking for DF or Tijuana style tacos THIS is not the place. Their menu is good, but it is NOT my preferred style of taco. I like carne asada, not bistec that was more like carne al carbon than the typical carne asada that you would get at the other style taco shops. The condiments for the tacos were limited too, no cilantro, white onions, limes, or a large selection of salsas. Your options are pico de gallo which for me, myself, and I do not like in comparison to the simplicity of the cilantro and onions. It is a super busy place, so bring patience with you for the wait. Overall the place is fine if you are looking just to eat, but for me it was not an enjoyable experience at all and I will thankfully not be returning. But I hope this helps anyone looking for the other style of tacos.
This place was recommended by an acquaintance as one of the best taquerias in Santa Barbara. Needless to say I do not trust the food recommendations of that person anymore. It is average at best. Meats (chuleta and bistec) are on a drier side. Taco does not come with anything but corn tortillas and meat. Have to ask for onions and cilantro. Guacamole is extra, but is worth it to put on tacos to make them decent. Tacos have lots of meat and are on a cheaper side - 3.25 a taco. So quantity and value brings this place up to 3 stars in my opinion. But I would still not recommend it unless you are looking for a decent meal for cheap.
The food is ok... but if you are looking for DF or Tijuana style tacos, by this I mean your choice of meats like carne asada, al pastor, tripa, chicken, suadero, or other meats you'd get at other …

Food is delicious but they don’t have prices on some of the food and they charge you as much as they want, they don’t give you receipt even after requesting it and cash only. I paid $39.90 for a la carte 1 chile relleno, 1 tamale and 1/2 order of enchiladas because they ran out (guy said $7 for half order) do that means chile relleno and tamale were more than $15 a piece WTH? Food is good but not a fancy place to charge that much for a la carte

Cash only business, bought 4 tacos and a couple tamales, somehow came up up $38 even though tacos are $3.45. Tamales barely had any meat on them. Very long lines, but am not sure what the hype is about. Maybe lines out the door because they spend so long at the counter doing cash transactions. Crowds attract crowds but personally I don't think they are worth the hype. They were friendly however. I'll give them that
Tourist trap. Long wait, only take cash, expensive, and unfortunately the food was not good. There are plenty places nearby that do it much better. We ordered a bistec taco a tamale. Meat was cold on bistec taco and the tamale had olives in it! Unheard of!
