Really good doughnuts and coffee! A bit pricey but a good treat. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. Saturdays can be busy but worth the wait. Staff very efficient.
Not sure what these donut Chad's are going on about. These donuts are bombdidgity delicious. My gf who is celiac is addicted to their fritter thangs. I love the thicker dough, and trying a new flavor often!
The. Best. Donuts. Also, their specialty crodoughs and great* looking * GF items (I haven’t tried them!). Cute little eat on area and coffee/espresso as well!
WOW. So yummy worth every penny. They were extra careful with a couple Vegan Donuts for my son he has a life threatening Allergy. HE LOVED IT! 😍
First time I came to this place and I recommend it, the donuts are very good, the price is a little high but it is worth it, good service and a very healthy environment.
This place has the most insanely delicious doughnuts I've ever had. Not to mention they're massive! Chocolate Old Fashion OMG!
My wife couldn't tell the difference between the sweet potato donut and the normal raised one, just that she liked the vegan one more :P
Vegan donuts!!!!!!! I know it's still a donut, but I feel much healthier after eating one than other vegan donuts I've had. It must be the yams!
The atmosphere here is simple and modern. And the food is pretty good. Their Square donut(Cant remember the name) had this really tasty cream inside of it and their normal donuts were so big I almost couldnt bite it. And unlike other places, their hot chocolate didnt taste watered down.
Staff were so welcoming, patient and friendly as we decided which donuts we wanted. Great stop for a sweat treat!
Love their donuts!!! Definitely not your usual donut shop.
Loved the cro-doughnuts and the old fashioned. Great coffee too. Only complaint was the to-go cup, started leaking on me. Extremely friendly staff! I'll be back. Lots of boutique doughnut places lack flavor and quality, this place is not one of those!
Great place for doughnuts and coffee. You can also get Doughnuts without eggs!!!. My daughter have egg allergies and she had her first doughnut from Johnny’s. People are very friendly. .
Best donuts I've ever had. The crodough is phenomenal and the lemon blueberry old-fashioned tastes like real lemon and has big juicy blueberries.
Great gluten free option(s)
The donuts were awesome! The staff was just as amazing. I was in town visiting family and we made a stop at the shop and had a great experience. Will be stopping in every time we are in town
Oh my gosh! The filled crodough (cronut) is delicious!! The apple fritter was also amazing. Never have I seen a place do caramelized apples for the fritter. The extra attention makes a huge difference!!
Located just outside of Downtown Santa Rosa is the critically acclaimed Donut shop. That being said. You might want to get there early as their AMAZING handcrafted donuts often sell out! If you are an early customer or someone lucky enough to order the Cronut (Laminated croissant dough) that is deep fried into a fluffy, buttery and crispy donut is ABSOLUTELY divine. They also have gourmet topping such as Lemon Rosemary, Browned Butter, Key Lime w/poppy seeds. It is definitely a bucket list stop for any and all donut afficianados.
Really wonderful donuts. Fresh flavors, new twists on old donuts. Go early as they can run out.
For my Anniversary, my SO went to buy a donut from Johnny's. He is gluten free and likes the sweet potatoe donuts. I LOVE pasterries, so this shop is GREST for us. I am not a large coffee fan. But on occasion I like salted carmel coffee. The SO goes to Johnny's and asks if they have any coffee like it. The reply: Brown Butter Glaxed Coffee. My friends will tell you that I think butter is a food group. The SO had to ask 3 times if he heard correctly. Then he said " Yes want that and now my wife's Kraken is unleashed" Oh Em GEE IS HIS COFFEE GOOOOOOOOD!!! He was not wrong! You gotta try it!!!
Amazing customer service! The wheat-free donut is out of this world!! So happy with our experience at Johnny's Doughnuts. Will be visiting again.
Just... Go here and get things and put them in your face. You'll enjoy it. So many different styles and flavors (old fashioned classic was my favorite). Plus, I made a mistake when ordering online because I was confused slightly about the process. And it cost them time, but they just very politely helped me correct the mistake and made sure everything was to my liking. Customer service was awesome.
This is how a doughnut should be made. And yes it's pricey but worth every penny. When I noticed that a doughnut was $4 a pop I knew there was a good reason why. And sure enough, I was right. These doughnuts and pastries are beyond good. They should have Arnold Schwarzenegger do commercials for this doughnut place because "you'll be back."
Got a half dozen to share with friends in Sacramento. Suggestions we're on point. Thanks to the very helpful and friendly staff today. Can't wait to come back. You really got to try sweet potato donut with chocolate. My husband couldn't tell the difference. YAY for Johnny's Donuts in Santa Rosa. Such a treat to taste true craftsmanship.
Their brown butter frosted doughnut is quite decadent and worth the price. The last time I visited they had sold out of their stock of brown butter cream topped doughnuts so I got a crodough instead which was very tasty. The crodough had a cinnamon sugar outer coating and a vanilla cream filling. I felt that they put just the right amount of filling in so that it balanced well with the dough part. While they had sold out of the brown butter cream doughnuts before I arrived, they did offer a latte made with the same brown butter cream frosting. And the drink that followed was quite impressive. The espresso was smooth and dark and the flavors mixed together with a very pleasant harmony. Good quality coffee too.
What I love about Johnny Doughnuts is the ambiance when you first walk in. It gives me those classic donut shop vibes but with a little modern twist. The cashiers are very kind & always super welcoming & the doughnut flavors are so delicious! They have classic flavors & some new unique flavors that are fun and look really cool! I would definitely recommend Johnny doughnuts to anyone around or visiting Sonoma County. :)
Ok I had to write a review right after i went here. Don’t sleep on these doughnuts!! They are so fire. If you’re like me and don’t like typical doughnuts from the classic shops you will love this place. Tans doughnuts is right down the street but I would literally never go there…ew so basic. I got the vegan sugar and spice doughnut and omg wow I did a little happy dance. It has the most perfect texture and almost sourdough bread taste…. And the pumpkin chai was the best I’ve ever had. It tasted like real pumpkin!!! Ugh thank you JD. Will be coming back to order more soon.
This is a great boutique high-end doughnut shop. They offer a great many varieties of doughnuts and doughnut-related baked goods. We shared one large glazed "Old Fashion" which was really well made. Light, tasty, and not overly sweet. (I wished we would have shared two instead of one!). The interior is expansive with lots of tables and chairs. Great for quality espresso drinks and for sharing time and tasty treats with friends.
We love Johnny Doughnuts! We’ve visited many times, and we especially like the brown butter, strawberry, and blueberry raised doughnuts. After deciding to host our wedding in Santa Rosa, we knew we had to serve their doughnuts for dessert! The doughnuts were delicious and many of our guests commented on how great they were. They even had wheat free options for our guests with dietary restrictions. We would highly recommend Johnny Doughnuts for doughnuts at special events (or anytime)!
Efficient and kind service, clean, fun atmosphere and delicious treats! What’s not to love!
Probably the best donuts I've ever had. So many choices and some vegan too. Not a typical donut place. More like a fancy Starbucks but for donuts clean and beautifully presented. Lots of employees. Feels really healthy.
Craft doughnuts, very tasty. Get the cronut, if they have any left. They sell out often
I love their raised donut. Its dense doughy chewy but soft at the same time. Really good texture. This is the texture that i always want in donuts. The donuts have good size, pretty big and filling. Its worth the money actually. the donut is solid, reminds me of Bob's Donut in San Francisco.
OMG their doughnuts are crazy good! I ordered 8 jelly and 8 chocolate covered crème doughnuts for Hanukkah. They were a hit with everyone. They are a little pricey, but totally worth it. These are not your usual “run-of-the mill” doughnuts. I will have to pick up some again soon!
Great donut shop with giant donuts. Lots of flavours. They do have a finite amount each day, this isn't Krispy Kreme with a non stop supply, so get there early.
Great doughnuts. Definitely on the higher end of a market price for a doughnut but completely worth it. Great service. The atmosphere is less than desirable but I’m also extremely bias on design of environments. Great area to play games, but it’s definitely a sparse design atmosphere. Don’t let this deter you to the doughnuts. Run, don’t walk. Some of the best doughnuts around.
Vegan donuts were 🔥. They make it from sweet potato tried the sweet potato glazed and sugar and spice. Also got a zebra donut for a friend. The donuts are made very thick where every bite feels you’re indulging in quite a bit of dough. May not be preferable to some but I thought these were some pretty good donuts. They also have pretty good tea and espresso drinks including a non-espresso based mocha which I want to try!
Made fresh good coffee and alot of options for doughnuts ..There really fluffy and good
Scrumptious, mouthwatering, melt in your mouth gooey goodness. Not a super sweet donut but light and airy with good ingredients. I didn’t feel bloated afterwards. Highly recommend the cronut— a hybrid version of a croissant/donut. Absolutely loved the sugar and spice vegan sweet potato donut!! Easy parking and the staff are super friendly and nice. Also, check out their coffee drinks 😍
Just had my best donut ever. The CroDough was delicious! I felt it was definitely worth the price. Service was fast and friendly! Didn't get a picture of the CroDough, but you can see them in other photos posted in reviews here.
Classic donuts!!! So good, predictable, friendly staff and fast service. I’m more a fan of the classics but if you want to branch out they’ve got some fun combos (the croissant, crème filled Cronut!)
The most delicious way to start the weekend. The best doughnuts north of San Jose, California, Better than any donut in San Francisco or Marin. Special thanks for the weekend breakfast.
I got the weekend exclusive lime blueberry cake. The interior of the donut melts in your mouth with a crispy firm exterior and a delightful glaze. The blueberries in the donut are also fresh. Would recommend if you're in the neighborhood!
Oh my goddess!!! So so Stoked they are here in Santa Rosa. I absolutely 💯and love 💘❤ their yummy yum Doughnuts. You can never make a bad choice unless you really don't like a flavor. Thank you gracing us for Farm to Table. Couldn't think of a better company for taking over City Doughnuts with the same thoughts in mind.
JD in Santa Rosa is such a treat! The doughnuts are dense and top quality! The location is clean and bright and spacious. The staff were very welcoming, in addition to the fantastic menu items! My favorite Crodough does have a surprise in the middle in the form of custard filling. Coffee and espresso beverages are just ok, but the chai might their best one. I'm also glad they spell "doughnuts" correctly lol 🍩🍩🍩
They don't have a lot of gluten-free options, but the gluten-free Frittah Thang is GF and is yummy! I'd guess they don't keep a separate batch of gluten-free frying oil, so Celiac people should probably steer clear. They sure are a friendly crowd there behind the service counter. The decorating theme is sort of modern spare.

A little tough to park in the rain- yet totally worth the GF blueberry doughnut and the deliciously well put together buttery coffee!! The girls were perky and kind. The vibe was quiet and peaceful. Best neighborhood shop to pop in for some cheer and festive start to your day!!

Decent food, I had a rough first visit, this was my second visit and it wasn't much better. There is a counter person that needs to work on her people skills. I preordered just to avoid her but just my luck she was there... I'm not certain I'm going back.
Good donuts and great selection / variety, which includes interesting and classic flavors, which makes it more family friendly. And that's even when comparing Johnny Donuts to the Portland donut scene.
Nice alternative donuts, had a non gluten fritter loaded with blueberries! Tasty, but a bit greasy (Don't usually eat donuts anyway)...
Enormous and hefty pastries. A different texture; very tasty. The coffee is outstanding. Equator brand. A bright, clean fresh business.
The classic doughnuts are just divine. Rich in flavor and I can feel my money draining away with each bite. Yummm
They are home to a vegan donut. Now, not only is this donut vegan, it is also the best donut I’ve ever had in my life by a landslide. It is the thickest, doughiest, just mouthgasmically perfect creation ever. More expensive than any other donut by like 500 fold. But delicious nonetheless.
Very cool hipster doughnut shop with unique coffee drink offerings and plenty of seating. The "crodough" is their claim to fame - a square donut made of layered dough. I didn't realize that between the many layers there is a cream filling, but I liked it more because of that. The raised donuts have a creamy flavor and the topping selections are unique - I had the crumb version and it was exceedingly delicious. We tried a rice flour fritter with a great flavor but questionable texture because it wasnt a wheat based donut. All of the donuts are very dense and heavy - the opposite of the Crispy Cream experience. That's not a negative - the doughnuts were substantial and perfectly made, just not mainstream. You will probably only need one, but it's hard to choose. Parking can be difficult, the coffee was very "dark roast" tasting, and it was pricey. Our party was split on whether we would return - I would give it another try when I want something filling and tasty.
Great selection of donuts, holiday flavors. Good coffee, friendly staff
The moment we walked in we were greeted with a friendly yellow and smile. We were given the run down on the doughnuts and how they were made. We picked two gluten free and two others. The GF are a cake donut. The maple flavored GF was delicious. The Carmel flavored one was not as flavorful and was too greasy. The croissant style donut and lime poppy seed were delicious.
Modern, interesting and pricey donut shop. They have some very out of the norm donut flavors. Some good some ok. It is probably a good one time or special occasion visit. Otherwise I would just stick with the usual good old donut store around the corner 😄

I would give it 10 out of 10 if they had longer hours and be a bit less expensive. Husband's fault for not being able to wake up early to be able to get a better selection.(i cant drive due to vertigo)I did however get a cronut thingy. I was not expecting to have it be a filled donut. Absolutely amazing. I honestly could of easily had a whole box of just those to be honest but by the time we got there there was only 2 left. I got to try the basic donuts and they were nice too. A bit less fresh then expected probably cause we were there last minute. But I do however enjoy the fact that even if it was a hint dry it wasn't greasy like other donuts I've had. Feels..healthier? I mean as much as you can with donuts lol I would like to return to try the other kinds for sure.

I made a special trip to Johnies to get a maple bacon donut after reading the menu. Once i was standing at the counter I was told that they only make them on fathers day🙃🥲. I ordered some backup donuts(sweet potato, maple, cinnamon twist and 2 donut holes. total was $15.00. I must admit I was disappointed that they didn't have the maple-bacon. Seems I will have to go back to VooDoo donuts in Portland
Meh. They weren't bad, I just wasn't a fan of how thick the donuts were. It was more like eating a dense cake in the shape of a donut. They did have vegan options for anyone needing/wanting them.
They have fresh, fun donuts. While they're pricey and you would want to buy a dozen for your coworkers, they're nice for a special occasion.
I want to like this place, but the doughnuts just aren't my style. The flavors are good, but the texture is all wrong, like glazed bread. They do have a wheat-free option if you need that, though.

Happy to support small business but these donuts are not for me. Expensive for what they are at $4+ each. Experience was good but $$ are too much for my blood
It's nice they treat their people well, but it's pricey and the donuts are just not good. Really dry and stale.
Didn’t make me wanna go back
The donuts are too pricy for the quality. The dough is SO heavy. The maple glaze slid right off the donut, my 6 year old wouldn't even finish their chocolate with sprinkles! Recommendation: Continue down the road another block for a good donut that won't break the bank!
Just average, Safeway doughnuts would be an improvement. We had 4 donuts, and a tea and coffee. 3 of 4 were stale, the fourth was really good and the only one we ate. We left the other three sans 2 or 3 bites. A girl, maybe 6 or 7 years old, sitting across from us only ate the chocolate glaze and left the rest so that should be a clear sign. This was our first breakfast out since March 2020 and we are sad to see prior doughnut shop is no longer here as they had excellent items.
Long time customer. I’ve enthusiastically tried the doughnut trucks and now the brick and mortar spot in Santa Rosa. The gluten free doughnut is superb but I’ve been highly disappointed 4 of the other 5 times I’ve purchased their doughnuts recently. My son, brother and I each threw out the cake doughnuts we purchased because they were terrible. Coffee is good but I can’t imagine returning to Johnny’s.
Their doughnuts all look beautiful, but the proof is in the taste. Unfortunately, these doughnuts do not even approach the quality of City Gardens, the previous doughnut cafe in this beautiful building. The dough is chewy. I tried the Bismark, the Old-fashioned and the Cinnamon Roll and was disappointed with all. Way too expensive. Next time I want a good doughnut I will go a block further to Tan’s.
Trouble with charging about $5 a donut is that people then try to choose very carefully, big investment. So service becomes very slow. Donuts are average and cost is ridiculous. Tan’s is just a stones through away. I’d recommend going there.
So I'm going to give a completely honest review. I spent I believe $91 on 12 glazed donuts,I must have been out of my mind! I passed them out at work and none of my guys were impressed I could have paid $13 up the street and received a much better donut I'm not impressed at all. Totally over rated!
Nice vibe and interesting flavors but they desperately need a better dough recipe. People expect doughnuts to be soft and fluffy. These are not. I went here with my dad and we were so disappointed we didn’t finish the donuts and went over to A’s donuts which were much better and much cheaper.
The girls behind the counter were incredibly friendly and kind but the jelly donut (Bismarck) my kid was looking forward to all week had the most pathetically tiny amount of jelly in it and tasted like it was a day old. We woke up super early to get there at 7:20 before school and were super disappointed, esp for a $5 donut.
We tried Johnny's this morning, and were a little disappointed. The doughnuts were huge and fresh and they look great. I ordered a butter cake. My sister and brother ordered filled. Mine was decent, with an interesting flavor and just slightly crispy exterior. However, the jelly filled was a little dry and only had filling on one side. The chocolate cream was apparently quite dry and with a gummy filling that wasn't very appealing. At the price, we were hoping for something better.
The location is great we'll lit customer service was good. The donuts however were subpar. They were very doughy and flavorless. I would expect exceptional tasting donuts for as much as they cost literally double the cost of my local donut shop.
This uniquely modern doughnut shop is beautiful. Unfortunately the donuts don’t live up to their hype. The dough is hard and way too chewy… almost stale like. Donuts should be soft and melt in your mouth. Service is great and is so is their selection of donuts. They should have more vegan options though, there’s only 2.
as other reviewers have stated the customer service was really bad, specifically from the cashier with red hair. the donuts themselves are okay taste wise, but texturally are very chewy and underproofed, in addition to this the latte i ordered was awful and not even full to the top.

When my fiancée and I went in to get some doughnuts the main manager was being rude to her employees and customers. I would not go here again.
You’re open until 6, but you run out of vegan donuts before noon despite ample normal options? Read the room! So disappointing.
I was a huge fan of these donuts and constantly drove to the larkspur location. I was super excited to find out they had opened one up in my town and sadly it looks like I will still be driving to the larkspur location. The donuts are delicious but the service is AWFUL at this location. This was the second time I went there thinking I could give them a second chance since the first time it wasnt very impressive. The lady with the red hair seemed irritated that she had to stop what she was doing to come do her job and serve the donuts. She also gets very flustered and extra rude if you ask for separate bags.
I took my two kids to this place after having surgery on my arm; hoping to cheer them up and not worry about me. The guy who packed our doughnuts was nice but the cashier was rude. She watched me struggle to get my money out and didn’t offer to help then threw my money on the register. Not going back ever again.
Staff barely acknowledges customers when they walk in, they close at 2 but are sold out of donuts by 10 & they don’t making more. Went in this am & had a terrible experience thanks to the employee with face piercings & an unpleasant attitude. Donuts are good but I won’t be coming back, better off going to Tan’s down the street
I had never been there before. I stopped in and bought some donuts which I felt were overpriced but I would give him a try anyway. When I bit into my first donut grease literally squirted out of the donut dough and I threw it away. I Don't think I'll give them a second chance.
I can not understand why this place is even open. They are always out of donuts, and the servers are rude and more interested in talking to one another than they are in answering customer questions. It is lass of a donut shop and more of a clique coffee shop that has obvious preferences for their desired customer base. If you don't fit the profile, they lose all semblance of professional decorum. Again, donuts, if and when they have them, are not good. Employees are a mutual admiration society that deals only with their preferred customer type.
The food is great here, however - the owner/managers seem to continually hire one of more employees that are a little shady. Today I watched one employee “shush” another when they tried to point out that they were giving me decaf. I paid for 2 fully caffeinated drinks. I didn’t speak up, but this is my last time coming here. You shouldn’t expect all your customers to be so ignorant - I worked in that industry for years. I see much.
Dont get donuts here unless you like coffee. Im absolutely disgusted because i hate coffee and this is the first time i have been to this donut shop. I ordered a maple bar that actually doesnt taste like a maple bar at all. I took one bite and was appalled. 10 minutes later i get home and mouth still tastes like coffee. Im really upset because not only does my maple bar taste like coffee, 1 donut cost me $5.10. One and done. Never again.
I have wanted to try this place for awhile based on the other reviews but man $24.00 for 6 doughnuts?!? And the doughnuts arent even good at all -they actually taste like doughy store bought bread. Beautiful space and presentation but not the best tasting doughnuts and for that price? Ouch!

I was so excited to go to this place for my birthday after hearing good reviews. Worst mistake ever. As soon as we walk in we were not greeted, the employee just stood at the counter and stared at us with a blank expressionless face, not even a slight smile. It was really awkward and an uncomfortable experience. I got the brown butter donut, a glazed donut and a cinnamon sugar twist. Everything was so mediocre and disappointing the brown butter literally just tasted sweet there was not a hint of any type of brown butter flavor. And don’t even get me started on the lattes. My partner ordered an Iced mocha and I ordered an iced maple, vanilla triple shot latte. It took over 10 minutes for these two drinks to be made. We were the only customers in the whole place besides one other woman who already had her stuff. We were also still waiting on the donuts. My boyfriend’s iced mocha came as a hot mocha as well as it being somehow lukewarm HA! Also it had no chocolate taste. Got the order wrong and still couldn’t make a proper mocha. My latte was nothing but milk and tasted like nothing. Mind you I got a triple shot, the drink was barely off white in color. I work at a coffee shop I know what a drink should look and taste like. We threw our completely full drinks in the trash and got out of that awful place as soon as we could. We will not be coming back and I will be avoiding this place like the plague and spreading the word.
