Opiniones de Jack's Fire Department Sunnyside
Food was good, prices are fantastic. It's a very nice place for a beer after work!
Such a fun spot! Ask for Amy when you’re there; she’s my favorite. She’s a triple threat: Friendly, kind, and fun!
We had the most AMAZING time here, traveled from Wisconsin to cone here and Carol Ann didn't disappoint!! Made my whole trip
Open late. Good simple bar food. Large "outdoor" seating with heat. Perfect.
Good food, good atmosphere, large beer selection, friendly staff, nice neighborhood bar
this might be my favorite bar in the greater (Astoria/Sunnyside/Woodside/Jackson Heights) Queens area two words: tater tots (with bacon and cheese for +$3)
This is one of the coolest bars it looks like a little miniature fire department as a cute little back patio real cool nice quiet neighborhood beautiful beautiful beautiful fire department bar
Great place for sports. The food is awesome. Wings and burgers are amazing.
Came here because of bar rescue and most of the original stuff from the episode was still intact. Prices were extremely reasonable
Great place to have burgers and wing. Atmosphere is relaxing and enjoyable.
Went here to eat And have a few drinks and let me tell it pays homage to emergency service workers would highly recommend to anyone
they put on the lions game for my dog and my girl 🥵🫣
Great happy hour. Drinks are good and cheap. bar food is good. Day bartender is a lot of fun and very knowledgeable Always have a great experience
Great place, great people! We were just there for 🎅 brunch ( second year in a row) and loved it ♥️ Really awesome place. Owners are super friendly 😊
I love Jack's. Really great food and beer at a reasonable price. Plus they are super friendly when my dog joins us 👍
Love this bar and every time I have been there, Crystal was our bartender! She was great super friendly, attentive, and can make an awesome drink !
6 dollar beer and shots. Food was fine but that's not important. Great place.
This places has one of the most under-rated burgers in the US. Honestly i had tried burgers in different states and countries and they have one of the best.
Didn’t get food but the spot was great! Pitcher and a bottle of beer was 30 bucks. Outside benches you get to smoke weed and drink your beer with your buddies what else would you want
Great seating, great atmosphere, great prices for some tasty food I actually really don't have anything to complain about. I would genuinely come back here again and again.
The most amazing cheeseburger I’ve had in a long time. Best food man. Thanks
Oddly shaped as a firehouse, which makes it a unique staple of the neighborhood. Attentive bartender, and an overall feeling of welcome. They are showing European soccer during the day if you ask.
Great spot for a beer and really good wings and burgers. Friendly staff, cool decor, and the place is spotless. I highly recommend.
Got the Firehouse Chicken sandwich and a drink. Amazing food and fantastic service!!! We also got a burger with pulled pork on it and it was delicious!
Just from watching Bar Rescue and the reviews on the site here...am hoping to experience this amazing place for myself...just have to save the gas or train ticket money since I live a few states south of the location...please keep the Pepsi on ice...
Like Awesome beers drinks and more!! Cozy atmosphere and friendly people with friendly bar tenders!! Enjoy!!
Great place to go and have fun. Is not fancy but the staff is friendly and you feel like you are part of the family. Love this place
Great place , Cold Drinks & great food along with wonderful service by our host & bartender Carolann , beautiful women with a great personality , nice meeting her & we will be back 👍👍👍👍
Haven't been here since the fire water days. Crowd is fun and Karma and CarolAnn are great bartenders. Food was also great
Great vibes! Loved the staff, especially Morgan who made us feel like regulars on our first visit.
Great drinks, great food :) can’t wait to come back for trivia night!
Great staff. Great food. Great brews!
Good food! Fun atmosphere! Great service
Update 4/23: I was in for lunch today, and it was a complete 180 from my last experience. The bartender was engaging and attentive, the beer wasn’t skunky, and the food was good. Y’all have great beers on tap! Prices are more than fair. Looking forward to another visit soon. TY for being there. Great neighborhood establishment. However, the bartender working this past Saturday night needs better training. We were served skunky beer, she checked and “fixed” the line and repoured the beer without following up to see if it was better. It wasn’t. I left my full glass on the bar. Kind of strange that she wouldn’t ask why I didn’t drink it. She was plenty busy flirting with a couple drunk guys, though. Thanks for replying. It was the Five Boroughs and changing the keg didn’t help. It even smelled bad in the head of the beer.
The bartender was really nice and attentive to my dog and I. She gave us both cold water on a hot day. I ordered a sweet house cocktail which was good. The fries were well seasoned! I'll definitely come back again.
Just saw old bar rescue episode. Keep up the successful bar turn around guys Congratulations on the great job that your still open and still successful. Best of luck and thank you for your service
Great place great food. They stayed with the bar rescue theme 100%. The owners were awesome, very funny and hospitable. The grilled cheese challenge is no joke either! When we come back to NY we are definitely coming back.
Really nice place, the food was GREAT ( I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries which I really recommend) and they have a nice variety of beers, but the best thing was the service, people were very kind and made us feel very welcomed. I'll be back for sure.
Jack's Fire Dept is the fabric of the neighborhood It is a long time family owned business. For well over 40 years. They have a great staff of neighborhood people. Along with the McGowan family and staff Jack's always makes you feel welcome and at home It has a cool warm vibe! They are always ready to help raise money for families in need. The family has a great way about getting every one on board with fundraiser. Thier food is always good I highly recommend it ! Weather for a bite to eat Or a drink at the bar You will love the staff Never had a bad experience at Jack's They are always very supportive to our community.
Finally got a chance to try this place out! With everything going on with the pandemic they have really done a great job adapting to the ever changing environment. My wife met a lady who was possibly the owner or maybe manager a couple weeks back while having one of our dogs with her. The lady was so nice to my wife and dog that my wife suggested trying out the place. We live about 6 blocks away and don’t usually walk down that way to eat but because of the interaction between the two we wanted to check it out. Boy it didn’t let us down. They have outdoor seating either under the pavilion which is really nice or now they have tables set up on the street which is where we sat! Those tables are self serve which was fine because we had one of our dogs with us so we wanted to kinda sit away from others. The waitress was amazing and even though it was self serve she insisted on bringing us our food and drinks. I ordered the po boy which was pretty good! Funny thing is she brought me sandwich and then 2 minutes later another sandwich came out which she informed me was because the first one didn’t have enough shrimp on it due to them running out of the regular sub bread they used. I had no idea it didn’t have “enough” shrimp on the first one. I thought that was really nice of them to do that since I wouldn’t have known the difference. We also ordered the fried pickles which were no joke some of the best I’ve ever had. The breading is so good it’s not heavy it’s similar to almost a panko bread crumb and the spicy mayo that goes with it was great! My wife ordered the wrong thing lol she ordered black bean burger but she actually really liked that also. Between the food and staff we will be back for sure. Praying these restaurants make it through this god awful pandemic and all the bs rules they keep trying to enforce.
The bartenders are awesome! I was there this afternoon and after a hiatus of 3 years they still remembered me and treated me like I never missed a day. They have their out door patio seating for food and drinks outdoors.
I been craving for the best burgers near sunnyside so I went through Google type in as "best burger restaurants" in sunnyside. I clicked on the best 10 restaurants that had burgers. Some of the restaurant got me interested and Jack's fire Dept restaurant got me more interested in their burgers. I was greeted by a nice lady that worked behind the bar. She gave us the menu and gave us few minutes to choose what we wanted on the menu. I ordered the Jack's burger because on yelp I have seen great reviews on that burger. Also ordered nachos, and fries. The burger dish you could either get a salad or fries but I chose the salad. The burger was phenomenal! It had a little kick to it which I really loved about the burger. The fries were crispy and hot! Freshly made? It didnt felt like it was one of those frozen bags of fries. The nachos were okay nothing to complain about. The lady was very attentive asking how the foods were. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family. I would definitely come by more often and try other things on their menu.
Relaxed, and fun bar. Intimate, and has a patio backyard and open space to enjoy the weather. Bar style food menu, with Specials at portions of the day. CarolAnn and Issac are great. All major sports on large flat screen TV. A neighborhood feel.
A friendly, neighborhood place and a rollicking sports bar. The best burgers and wings in Sunnyside. With liberal drink buybacks. What more could you ask for ? Great place.
Off the main drag but worth the short walk. Always interesting staff that know how to make a drink. Also has an outside seating area. Interesting decor. A local bar with real history.
I had the best time there. The food was great, the drinks were unbelievable. Great service, will definitely recommend and i will come back for sure. The whole environment was perfect!!!!!
A nice family atmosphere. Great service and good eats! Awesome place to have a sports gathering or celebrating a friend birthday .....Best of all the owner is NYC's bravest 👍🇺🇲
If you don't know where to go tonight, just go to Jack's. There is a bartender who actually likes people, and the manager is the owner, Brian. There are two kinds of bars in NYC, those being owner-managed, and then the ones where even the manager doesn't really know who owns the joint. You can tell the difference. Hot drinks like this spiced cider on the menu.
Jen was attentive and highly efficient. She has a friendly vibe and we had a great experience during our visit. We had the onion rings, grilled chicken wings and fries which was served right outta kitchen.
Met Isaac on a Sunday. I'll be back. He was the best.
I did visit for first time on a Tuesday night in Autumn. There was only 1 bartender serving the entire place inside & out. Which wasn't terrible because the place was 40-50% full. Drink prices were very reasonable. You don't find many places with Stella on tap, but they have it. And it was $6. Most places it's $8 - $12. My friendsaid her Margarita was the best Margarita she ever had. And she liked the Mason jar. . And the food was great. Everything I ordered was good. Can't wait to try new things next time. And the #1 thing I will say. Of the 5 things we ordered, 2 came with bacon. Their bacon was phenomenal. I LOVED it.
Great bar, hands Down!! I can come in having a trash of a day, look like an angry black guy, get 2 guiness and a the famous Jack Burger and leave like like a happy black guy... lol. Owners are great, chef is awesome and cooks GREAT!!! My kind of bar, wish you guys a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
I have nothing bad to say about this place, chicken wings very good and atmosphere was chill I give this place 10/10
Family area... love going here and enjoying a good time, having great food, great drinks, and being around great people... again family is what matters here
Absolutely loved this place welcoming for sure felt like home. A local gem 💎. Hope it stays that way everyone knew each other dogs were welcomed. Food was surprisingly amazing I wasn’t expecting that the Brussel sprout was amazing with a cheese and bacon sauce wow 🤯. Definitely a must have The drinks were on point the bartenders were amazing. Went for an fire fighter event and had a great night good drinks and lots of memories I’ll definitely be returning to this place great vibes Hope you enjoyed this review and hope it helps Like always follow me on ig @imbroke_eats and @imbroke_rob Thanks again for all the support
Not worth dinging score but love tk see more exotic “kinda” stuff buits ALL NOW IS GOOD!! The rest…. 1: service= : like your ole fashion hood PUB”. Where you’re in a comfy drink spot .they treat u as such. It makes for Meah of old school & new gentrify types! It’s like everyone grew up there, which is not the case. Service has hand in that 2.—- Atmosphere — Combined with #1, fact owners by way of Father had Bar for 40yrs! And Father “Jack” was a Neighborhood “Uncle” to all. It has Sunnyside specifically “Skillman Park” Tradition mixed in. Along with the considerable FDNY component of members from the neighborhood over the last 6070 years. As well as all three of “jacks” sons being on the FDNY!! Last… Many people do not know, but Jack’s place was originally called _”OUTPOST” AND!!! It is actually a historic landmark due to the fact that it was an “outpost” in the years where people would ride through and they needed s Prior to JACK. The bar had it ups and downs. I lived right up the block and has an H as well nine-year-old I would pull pranks on the old guys in the bar by throwing smoke bombs in the back door. Lol Yes, not so funny. But man that bar is along with Skillman Park, the center of the Sunnyside Skillman Avenue universe!! Thank you, Brian (current owner) for keeping the fire burning (no pun) Coming home
I can't believe the experience I had here...walked in early, bartender Jen was amazing, informative, and fun. Food was incredible and spirits great, can't wait to come back with my dog and hang out in backyard and side. What a place....come here unless there is something wrong with you.
I absolutely love this place. The food is great. That drinks are great. The atmosphere is awesome. They have a dartboard and a jukebox. It’s definitely the place to go. They also haven’t out to our backyard and their street parking. If you wanna find cool bars, this is one of them. You also make tons of cool friends there.
Everyone here, from the staff to the patrons, were absolutely lovely and accommodating of my girlfriend and I during the AFC championship game. People went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had seats at the bar together. You can tell from the vibes that it's a neighborhood spot, populated almost entirely by locals. It's fun, lively and dive-y without being trashy or off-putting. Food was tasty, especially the chili. Chef is a real character (I mean that in the best way possible.) A real gem in the neighborhood.
This is a cute little place, just moved in to the area and wanted something fast and convenient and they were next door so ordered for pickup. The food did not disappoint at allll! The chicken wings and sweet potato fries were crispy to perfection. The fish was amazing too! Food was ready in about 20ish mins and was still hot when I picked up. The bartender was cool and quickly handed me my order.
Been here twice and plan on visiting again. The atmosphere is laid back. It is very dog friendly, as a matter of fact the first time my friend and I came here, we were celebrating Precious's birthday (my friend's doggie). The food is good. I had the cheeseburger and it was tasty. Just ask Precious, she enjoyed a piece or two of it. 😊 The second time I went I had the Shrimp Basket and it was 😋. It had the right amount of breading and they were plump and juicy. The selection of drafts is good and the drinks are good also. The prices here are very reasonable. They have a great outdoor seating area with picnic tables. Amy the bartender is very nice. I'm very glad that I decided to try this place. It might become one of my go to pubs. I also love the decor. Part of the bar is the front of a firetruck and there is other Fire Dept. decor. Updated 2/4/23: Came back here recently and I had a very pleasant time. The bartender, James, was very nice and so were the owners, who happened to be there the day I went. The menu has been revamped and the items on it look good. I got there for 2 P.M. Happy Hour and they have good deals. This is a great neighborhood bar. The vibe is comfortable for everyone. You can even feel comfortable bringing the kids and of course doggies are welcomed also. I plan to visit here more often. Looking forward to trying some of the new menu items.
Visited here today with a friend for the first time, and we immediately felt welcome. A great corner location, and as shown in other photos - it looks like a fire station from the outside. Outdoor seating (backyard patio and tables with umbrellas), and a very neighborhood feel, which made me feel very welcome - even though I'm not from the neighborhood. Our server's name was Karma - what a GREAT NAME - and she was SO WONDERFUL. A smile you could feel through the mask she was wearing, and overall pleasant and friendly. We ordered burgers (The Cheeseburger with Sweet Potato Fries and the Big Jack's Burger with French Fries). Burgers and fries were great overall, and for the price you pay, a true steal! Plenty of beer and drinks on tap for your drinking pleasure and an overall nice vibe. A must try in Sunnyside!
What a fantastic find. Great quirky Firehouse inspired place. Family owned and absolutely fantastic staff. The Irish potato skins are so interesting and very good. If you like Rubens they are a must try!! Little pricey but you are in the city so expected. Nice patio that is dog friendly. Soo bringing the pooch next time!!
We've passed Jack's a couple times and had a plan to go, the Groupon enticed us to go sooner and we're really glad we did. Fun atmosphere that I'm sure is packed every weekend for football games. The decor is really cool with Fire Dept. memorabilia and currently Holiday decorations. The waitresses were really nice, they had good prices and we were really impressed with the Thai mango (I think) wings and the Jack's burger was Awesome!! Hope you're ready for a lot of food though... we'll definitely be back
Really great burger. Large beer selection. Nice vibe. Will definitely go back.
Went to NY for vacation went to Jack's and they had very good service and very good food keep up the good job hope to see u guys soon again 😀
Awesome local bar, with great light pub fare and tons of local atmosphere.
Really 3.5 stars. Outside space was nice drinks & waitstaff excellent, food ok.
A great neighborhood bar with good food and nice staff. Nice back patio area, Shows most games including world cup matches
Good food nice people. Had a plumbing issue that they had someone in to get resolved. Was unfortunate timing but nice they fixed it unlike many places that just neglect those things. Other than that nice evening.
Very nice place, though parking is scarce in the neighborhood. The bartenders are pleasant and work efficiently. Nice atmosphere.
We’ve never been here but it looks FANTASTIC after Bar Rescues renovation! And that Urinal game? Brilliant ! We wish you luck, people will come just to see that firehouse decor ! Thank you for your Service too ! ❤️🔥💙❤️🔥
While in New York City for a day trip with my girlfriend I had told her we would stop at Jacks Fire Department. We’re both fans of Bar Rescue so, beings we where close we stopped in. It was empty since it was if my memories correct Monday before thanksgiving. Didn’t bother us though, we where just excited to be there. The barmaid was very friendly and very up beat. I took on the Jacked Up Grilled Cheese Challenge and completed it. The sandwich was very hot but, very good too! The Bloody Mary shot which the barmaid said was her recipe she had got from a long time friend was absolutely the best! I’m not a Bloody Mary fan but, I would have drank glasses of this! I wished we could have met some of the owners, that would have been a bonus. It was very cool there with the de’cor. If where ever in the area again we will definitely stop in again! I am still waiting on a shirt since they where out at the time. Don’t understand why they say they will give you a T-shirt for completion of there “Jacked Up Grilled Cheese Challenge”.....still haven’t recieved my shirt(it’s now 3-25-18) kinda bummed. Don’t plan on getting a T-Shirt cause you’ll never get one. Did receive a constellation prize for not having shirts at the time I was there. She took my address and said I’d receive a shirt when they got them in......yea sure. Still haven’t received the shirt....why tell/advertise you get a shirt when you don’t? Never gonna return
I've always wanted to come here after seeing it on Bar Rescue. It is a great sports bar with several TVs not on mute, making it a good place to watch with your friends, but not so much for a first or second date. It looks a lot bigger in pictures, but there's an outdoor section (unheated). I had the ghost pepper grilled cheese. It was on normal sized bread, and if you regularly eat spicy food, you'll have no problem eating this.
Great customer service here, with good food and reasonable priced drinks. Worked with Kira on reserving a table for a group and she was very helpful in getting it all ready, and taking our orders. Our group had fried pickles, mozzarella sticks, and french fries. The fried pickles was unexpectedly good, being slightly sour (being that it is a pickle) and still juicy after being fried with a lightly crispy battered outside. As for drinks, I believe there were some reservations about the mixed drinks. However, the beer selection is good. They have seating both inside, outdoor covered patio in the back, and uncovered street seating on the side.
Been here three times now. Disappointed every time between food and beers. If all you're looking for is a Coor's Light and friendly service, this place is great. Food is slightly worse than mediocre and so is beer selection. Different bartender each time, each of them very friendly and attentive.
Nice quiet place went in the middle of the afternoon Monday. Very beautiful Asian, Chinese girl named Alice, pleasantly surprised, told she works early hours . Time don’t get out to drink. It was hot out, so stopped to red and cool off from hit 90 degrees day. We had a little conversation and one beer
I live around the corner from the place and took me over a year to try it. Cheap booze, convivial atmosphere. Downside is that the crowd isn't exactly young and hip. Older, seemingly working class crowd that seems to be comprised mainly of regulars. Still kind of a cool place.
3 out 5 stars! Both service and food was great the issue was I was charged twice on a split bill. I figure the pending transaction of one of the charges would fall off, but it didn't I had to put a claim with my bank. I suggest to keep your receipt just incase it happens.
Local pub, with a nice backyard. Music was good and not that loud at outside so I liked it in that sense. Beer selection is quite limited, only well known brands and 1-2 choices for each type of beer.
Ive heard so many good things about this place. They were even featured on the Food Network so I had to try them out. The best thing about it are the drinks. They're strong and even when mixed theyre super strong. The food however isnt anything to write home about. It takes like food you can make at home but way overpriced. The staff is ok. I like the theme of the place and their famous hottt grilled cheese that literally made my girlfriend's son cry and sweat until his shirt was drenched. And he had to wait 2 months for this place to give him his T-shirt for withstanding the sandwich without drinking milk until he ate all. Like I said, the place isnt bad. Go there for the drinks and to have fun and chill with friends or coworkers but the food shouldnt be your main reason for going.
Food took way to long, couldnt figure out why with only 5 people plus our table of 3 in the bar. Finally realized it was because the cook was out for half the time we waited. Overall though meal quality was good, staff was nice.
It was a fun place to visit in the neighborhood. Beer and burger outdoor in the sun cannot go wrong. Although the foods are too greasy in general even for me, it was still a good time with the friendly staff and nice companies. 3-star is a good balance for the outdoor summer experience and food quality.
Came with 2 friends, we each ordered the wing and 2 beer special, plus the bacon Brussel sprouts to split. My experience in 3 highlights: - Wings were crispy and tasted great but are likely the tiniest I've ever encountered with very little meat on the bones. - They had an outdoor backyard which is aptly decorated, spacious, and accommodating for a sunny fall afternoon lunch. - After we finished and paid, I suggested exchanging the 2 remaining beer and 5 bucks for an $8 burger. It seemed a reasonable enough offer, but I got a no. What I didn't feel was appropriate was the escalated tone, the rudeness of the no. I left after that and decided not to drink my remaining 2 beers (one credit of which was left by my friend) . Not planning a return visit. Went to go get food down the street after leaving here unsatisfied and slightly ticked off.
Service and atmosphere is great but food was quite disappointing. They bought the wrong food out with avocado in my burger texture like carrots. Seems like the chef just does what he wants to do, not what the customer ordered. Drinks, yes but food, no (P.S. to owner, we didn't order a black bean burger nor did we post on Yelp as you mentioned. Seems like the point is being missed entirely).
This place should have closed. Service is terrible. Waiting to get another drink when the place was not busy at all took 12-15 minutes. Food came out luke warm. Now I see why they needed help. Won't come back here again. Their patrons are those of close friends and family. Waht a joke this place is.
This place has one of those "challenges"... See picture. Basically eat a spicy grilled cheese with ghost pepper and get a free shirt if you don't succumb to the cup of milk before you finish. Sounds fun, right? So, we did this. And after finishing the sandwich the bartender says "oh yeah, actually, we are out of shirts." That's it. No sorry, no consolation free beer, nothing to suggest that this was something she probably should have mentioned before we ordered, no estimate of when to expect for shirts... We just left our contact information this past wknd so when they do get more they will supposedly be in contact. If/when that happens, I'll update this review but otherwise people should get a heads up about the bait and switch since obviously the establishment themselves aren't forthcoming about it.
