such a cute and authentic local place. one of my favorite spots, i go whenever i'm on a break from school. other than the food being top notch, it's a really nice experience. their tempura don and udon especially is amazing. might be a little pricey, but you pay for quality. the inside has a lot of seating, they also have the soba-yu to drink, its so good give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.
I’m so thankful this place hasn’t gone viral but this place deserves all the virality. The food here makes me not miss Japan. Every single thing tasted so perfect I was so sad my meal ended. I devoured everything and if i was only allowed to eat their food for a month, I’d gladly eat it every day. My mind is blown.
Got the Kakiage Hot Soba and a side of Salmon Onigiri. The food came out quick and was quite delicious. This place is CASH ONLY but there is an ATM next door and they did mention we could order on their website to eat in restaurant but the prices are a bit higher. Parking is available behind the building.
I visited on a Friday afternoon around 2 p.m. while waiting for my tire to be assessed at Crash Champions. The restaurant had plenty of seating, and the front counter staff was very welcoming. I ordered the soba and rice bowl combo, but unexpectedly had to leave to pick up my car. The staff kindly offered to hold onto my food in the kitchen to ensure it would still be warm when I returned. When I finally got to enjoy my meal, the soba was exceptional—the broth had a rich, nutty miso base that paired perfectly with the fresh, crisp cucumbers and the wonderfully chewy noodles. The tempura was a standout—crispy, lightly sweet, and bursting with flavor. The entire staff was courteous and accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. The meal felt authentic and relaxing. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a satisfying and comforting meal!
🇯🇵 JAPAN Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles: When a place ships fresh Japanese buckwheat across the Pacific in refrigerated cargo containers and even supplies some local South Bay favorites like I-naba with soba, it clues you in to the must order dish offered at Ichimi Ann, which also has "Bamboo Garden" on its sign in English. That soba, while different from a hot pepper for sure, also bursts with flavor on each bite.
If you want high-quality sushi without driving to the west side, this is your spot. The chefs are skilled and very friendly. I recommend the omakase if you're feeling adventurous — it's fresh and beautifully plated. There’s a tiny sushi bar and a few tables, so come early. Prices are mid-range but worth it. Low-key, date-friendly vibe.
Who recommended this place for soba and met a friend for lunch here, it was absolutely incredible. Polite service, fantastic food, nice ambience, and good price. What more could you ask for?
I discovered this place on Google maps. This cute little Japanese restaurant had the best noodles! Workers were super nice and polite. I had their Unagi Soba noodles and it was the best I’ve ever tasted. The umami in it tasted good. It’s a pretty quiet eat, definitely the best place to eat in peace. I went on Friday close to closing time, best time to eat when it’s not too crowded. Got there and eat! Will be back again!
Omg, absolutely satisfying!!!! Every bite. Fresh, authentic and made with love. Would love to try the cold noodles next time. It's so nice they have complimentary iced and hot barley tea!
Delicious as always! One of my most favorite Japanese noodle houses in LA! We ordered the unagi udon bowl (cold) and the kakiage (shrimp + veggie tempura) udon (cold) and both were so simple yet so tasty. Hits the spot every time. Service is quick. There’s ample seating inside in two rooms. They do charge you a fee for paying with a credit card just FYI as the cash price is always cheaper. Ample free street parking around.
Fantastic authentic Japanese soba & udon restaurant with great service, delicious food, and a perfect vibe. I have eaten the Banbanji with Udon about 650 times this summer and I have no plans to stop.
Very sweet staff. One of the cooks was telling me how he makes everything from scratch and you can tell! The food is so fresh and wonderful. My mom and I got the tempura combo with hot udon noodles and the cold chicken cucumber soup. Both were amazing. The noodle broth was so delicious and the cold soup was packed with flavor. The chili crisp on the side is the best I've ever had. You can tell they make it there. Highly recommend and I'll be back!!
Me and my Dad enjoy eating Ichimiann Soba!! Which is good, delicious, and Healthy!! I like the Umishiso which is a Soba with Japanese Plum & Shiso which is a Japanese Herb. And I enjoy eating Onigiri which you can choose either Salmon, Uma, or Kombu which is Seaweed. It is peaceful and relaxing. You go to the Cashier to place your Order and they give you a Number you take to your table and they will give you the Meal you Pick. I went there today because in Japan they Celebrate the Japanese New Year. Even though it is New Year Eve. So I enjoy eating Ichimiann. I recommend taking either your Family or Friends to Lunch!!
What an amazing, authentic hole-in-the-wall Japanese noodle restaurant. The staff is so wonderful, courteous, and helpful. There are a few tables for sitting but can possibly get crowded if you get there during rush hour. Two specials: 1) Yuzu Chashu bowl - unique and delicious broth! The best dish we ate there. 2) Banbanji (sesame soup with shredded chicken, cucumbers, and rayu) - ordered with soba noodles. Popular dish. For any of the broths and toppings, you choose between udon/soba and hot/cold. Both udon and soba noodles were freshly made!
On the second day of my trip to California with my friends from Seattle, we were looking for a quick and simple lunch spot when we stumbled upon a Japanese udon restaurant that served hot, savory broth. The atmosphere reminded me of a restaurant I used to frequent in a Korean neighborhood, which made me feel comfortable and at ease. The unique udon menu items we saw on offer were also very impressive and something I had never seen before in Seattle or Korea. Most importantly, the broth was exactly to my liking, so it didn't feel too heavy as my first meal of the day, and the staff were all very friendly and kind. Despite the Seattle-like cloudy and chilly weather, my body and mind were warmed up, and I felt great.
Super homey, go on a quick lunch break or a relaxed dinner with friends and family. Wide selection of simple, Japanese classic toppings. Both soba and udon are made with so much love, I love the texture. The light yet flavorful bonito broth encapsulates the expertly crafted noodles. Can't wait to go back to try all the toppings!
Amazing restaurant that makes you feel like you went to a soba restaurant in Japan in a less urban area. I really loved their broth for the Niku dish, and I thought the meat was good. Wouldn't have traded it for anything else today.
Sukiyaki Udon is my favorite, thick and flavorful. Dan Dan Mian w Soba - R’s favorite. I love it too but I wish it has hot option too. Pork Shabu Shabu w Soba - my favorite, pork quality was so good. Mentaiko soba - it’s ok, I like the soba noodle texture but it has too strong of a milk taste. And it contains 紫苏 leaf that I don’t like. Yuzu Soba was not much my thing.
11/22/2021 Okay. This is about an hour drive but I had to do it. I've been craving tanuki soba for several weeks. I went down here with my daughter today. There was only one staff member working so the wait was 30 minutes. Others turned away but I could not after driving that long. This is one of the very few places that makes their udon/soba in house. I really love the flavor of the broth. No one can beat this place. I’ve been coming here for years. I love the chewy noodles, whether it’s soba or udon. My favorite is the Tanuki udon. They make their noodles as opposed to purchasing frozen noodles.
Traditional Japanese soba/udon noodle restaurant located in old Torrance. Place draws always a crowd, walk up and place your order, pay and wait for your number to be called. Homemade noodles with great combo sets that are filling and authentic. 5 stars, would highly recommend🤙
Oh my god. The cold soba is about as authentic as you can get outside of Japan. The taste, the texture …. Are prefect. We ordered yuzu chasu cold soba and tenzaru with tempura. The chasu was perfectly charred, the soup was very refreshing with the yuzu flavor. Tempura is slightly breaded. I think this THE SOBA place if you want to try authentic soba noodles. We will come back for the udon.

Great authentic food. They made their own noodles. Free hot tea. Unagi soba is a good starter.
This place is a gem. The food's great, best soba in socal. I usually get the cold tanuki in extra large. The noodles are always al dente. Price is good although has been increasing, I'm assuming from inflation but well worth. Always a treat for me when I'm in the area.

We knew we were in for something authentic when my family and I were the only ones of non-Japanese descent in the establishment. It was nice to hear people all around us speaking Japanese and enjoying their meals. It made us excited to sit down and eat. The staff is really nice and assisted us in choosing the perfect meal for us. The noodles had a nice consistency; it was bouncy and chewy. The dipping sauce was delicate with a deep flavor of dried fish and soy. Though the soba dish was beautifully done, it wasn't 100% my cup of tea, but the rest of my family really enjoyed it. I do have to say that I enjoyed the Kakiage bowl. The rice had a nice bounce, and the vegetable and shrimp fritter was seasoned well. The fritter had a thin crisp batter that maintained its crisp through to the last bite. The restaurant is counter service, so please be kind and considerate. Bus your table after your meal. There is a shelf by the service counter to return your dirty dishes.
Very simple, but great! Needed to reset my diet for the week because I was eating too much red meat and unhealthy foods. Soba seemed like a perfect meal, not too heavy but still a decent portion amount of food. The workers all speak Japanese as well, which is always reassuring to me when I eat at Japanese restaurants.
Gosh, what a simple and delicious menu they manage! From soba made in house to the lightest crisp on the tempura, this authentic Japanese noodle house is a place I wish I lived close! I devoured my food!

Ordered cold yamakake soba with tendon combo. Food came out pretty quickly. Soba koshi was alright but the flavor was really lacking. Wish I had more tsuyu. Surprisingly their tempura bowl was very good. If I ordered the tendon alone I would have rated this place much better. Considering most other customers are Japanese, I was expecting more from this place.

Came here on Saturday afternoon for the soba noodles with tempura with my family. Love hole-in-the-wall places and understand service is usually an afterthought, but...We felt like we inconvenienced her when we asked for recommendations because she was very snappy and condescending. It felt horrible. The broth was tasty but the soba and the whole experience from the run down place and unnecessary rude service, took away from a nice family experience. So sad cause the tempura was good.
It’s been a while since I visited this place. I came here today and ordered Katsu-don and Zaru combo. Pork meat was hard and no taste although rice is still ok. Zaru had a parchment paper under soba. Probably they want to omit to wash Zaru itself but unnecessary water from soba didn’t go through and soba became so watery. It made dip sauce weaken and didn’t taste nice compare to before. Since taste is not good level and became expensive due to inflation and etc, it is sad but I will probably never come back to this place, although this used to be my favorite location.
We came to this restaurant around 1 p.m. and it was very, very busy. The line was very long. After we ordered our food, we found a seat. But after about 30 minutes, we didn’t get our food. At first, we didn’t worry because many customers who came earlier than us didn’t get their food as well. But after we waited for around 40 minutes, we found that the customers who came later than us got their food and we had not yet. So we asked the staff why, and we got the reply that they completely forgot our order. I felt very frustrated and asked for a refund. But considering that my girlfriend really liked this restaurant and we drove for more than one hour to get there, I asked the staff if they could prepare our food in 10 or 15 minutes. But no one said yes. They just apologized and didn’t offer any solution. We had nothing we could do, so the only choice for us was to ask for a refund and leave to find some new food. We were very frustrated and disappointed with this experience. We totally understand that it was a small restaurant and it was very busy, but this mistake is just too low-level and not acceptable. I know they should have some capacity to handle this. If they are too busy and it's beyond their capability, they should do something to control the situation, but they didn't. They didn't offer any solution. I believe losing only two customers doesn’t matter to them because they’re too popular and too busy, and we are not important at all. So that was our experience yesterday. At first, I didn’t want to give a bad review on Google because I know it’s not easy for a small business, but I feel more and more angry even today, no one cares us at all! So I finally decided to write a negative review here.
First time here. Just get a simple menu, I had natto tororo because I love grated yam, natto, and poached egg, but I think their tempura was old It had a horrible smell. I'm not talking about the shrimp and veggie tempura. It's the topping tempura. And I know chefs usually make those toppings ahead of time, but I think it was old or the oil was horrible. I triec finishing everything since it was $20, but wow, that old oil taste made me almost throw up. It's still lingering in my mouth.... I didn't get a refund, but don't ever get that...
