What an Amazing place, great music venue, Great Staff, Heather was amazing and the food! If you are can make it on a Friday, the Reuben Pastrami Sandwich is next level. Although it's two hours away, it's worth the drive every time.
My favorite bbq in Tyler. I love the giant stuffed baked potatoes and their ribs are delicious! People there are always friendly and helpful and the restaurant itself is really cool and ofter has live music.
Our visit to this barbecue joint was nothing short of a culinary revelation. It's the kind of place that leaves you convinced it deserves a spot on the Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ list. Sadly it was only Top 100. The brisket was a masterpiece. The meat had a great pull to it, yielding just enough resistance before melting in your mouth. The smoke ring was a beautiful, deep pink that went all the way through, showing off the slow, deliberate cook time. The bark was thick and peppery, providing a perfect textural contrast to the tender meat. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was another highlight. The spice level was spot on—just a hint of heat from the jalapeños that complemented the savory, melty cheese without overpowering it. The medium grind gave the sausage a fantastic, hearty texture. Finally, the ribs were everything you hope for. The meat had an incredible flavor and was so tender it practically fell off the bone. The sauce was a perfect blend of sweet and tangy, enhancing the pork without masking its natural deliciousness. This place is a true Texas barbecue gem.
The food was excellent as always. The service is always exceptional, but the staff went the extra mile when they had to inform us that one of the food items we had purchased was unavailable. The staff member came to our table and we made the adjustment and he told us he was going to send us home with some extra food. Wonderful and beyond what was necessary. But that’s the way that you grow a great business, with excellent customer service. Atmosphere is always wonderful whether there is a handful of people or the place is crowded. Highly highly recommend recommended.
The kind of open air BBQ venue, East Texas style. You will find the sincere courtesy, care for authenticity, and best humble aspects of this state, in honky tonk style joints like this. It’s a busy vibe, with order at the counter and bar style, and a design to handle high traffic. Parking is easy enough around the surrounding streets though there is not a large designated parking lot - which is great and we can walk! Their sauce was the best stand out and the tacos and ribs are great. Enjoy it early and often!
We were on the way to another restaurant in Tyler, we happen to pass by this place, didn’t see a line out the door. So we stopped in. Food was great. Ribs were phenomenal. As soon as we sat down, there was a like of people waiting outside to get in. They were out of few things, but it’s expected later on in the day, especially day after Christmas. We will definitely come back.
Today for lunch I tried Stanley's Famous Pit Barbecue at 525 S Beckham Ave Tyler, TX 75702 I have seen this restaurant mentioned many times for having good BBQ. Today I was able to make my determination. Brisket: I ordered a sliced portion of moist. The consistency was great but the flavor was mostly limited to the rendered fat and bark. A small amount of sauce fixed the flavor. Baby back pork ribs: They offer this in half or full rack vs by the weight. There was an award above the register signifying the ribs winning a "best" award at a food competition. The ribs were great. The consistency and flavor was perfect, the crust and glaze was what I hoped for. Jalapeño cheese sausage: Smooth consistent grind with varying sized pieces of jalapeño and great flavor. The cheese was so small that it gave flavor but was not easy to find. Cowboy pinto beans: Simple beans with good flavor that dry out on the top crust fast. Peach cobbler: Soft peaches with fully cooked pie filling topped with cinnamon and sugar. This was perfect. I am glad to have had the time to visit this restaurant today and will keep it in my list of places worth stopping in when in the area. Eve’s Road, her voice possesses an ethereal quality, delivering each note with a clarity and warmth that captivates the listener rather it’s her original or a cover. The music as a whole is so beautiful! Who is The Jewell’s singer… she is a show stopper! My bartender was great ,sandy blonde hair (didn’t get her name), and Stanley’s food is always five stars.
First time here. Nice little spot that can be easily missed, so keep your eyes out. There is a fair amount of parking in the lot behind the restaurant. Food - brisket was delicious and moist. Great bark. Not overly seasoned. The Jalapeno cheddar sausage link was lacking a "kick" and had very little cheese. Also, relatively smaller than other BBQ joints. May have just gotten the bad one of the bunch. Will not hold it against them. Usual BBQ prices, at $19 per half-pound of brisket and a $6 sausage link. The other meats they have are ribs, turkey, chicken, and pulled pork. They do have tacos, too. Atmosphere - order at the counter and they will bring you your food. Traditional style of ordering BBQ, minus having it ready as you're paying. Covered outdoor seating and an inside seating area with a bar. Overall, enjoyable. Service - friendly service. While eating I was checked on twice by staff members.
I grew up in California and never liked barbecue. Five years ago, in 2020, I moved to Texas where barbecue is almost a religion. I started watching TikToks about the best places to go, and Stanley’s kept popping up. I was skeptical at first because I had heard about the high prices, but to my surprise it was actually very affordable. The atmosphere was very family-friendly, and I think that is when I truly fell in love with barbecue. I am not sure what it was, but I absolutely loved the food. The service was fantastic. Maddy (hopefully I spelled your name right) was so sweet and kind. She greeted me with a smile and even gave me a sample of the barbecue since I told her I was skeptical. She served the food with genuine hospitality and made me feel welcome. I am not a regular Google reviewer, but she really stood out. She was well dressed, clearly put time and effort into her appearance, and carried herself professionally. She is a truly beautiful person inside and out. Thank you, Maddy. – Joey Retes
The best place to go to for BBQ in Tyler! Their outdoor patio is cozy with live music in the evening, and their food items are creatively delicious & put together. My personal favorites were the Cluckin’ Taco and the Brisket Nachos! Staff is always friendly helpful, bathrooms are clean & private. Parking is a nightmare though!
IMO, Stanley's has the best BBQ in East Texas. It's so good that I'm rewriting this review to mention their ribs. We have been coming here for around 5 years and I just recently tried the ribs and was pleasantly surprised. I always get the brisket, but I highly recommend the ribs as well. My wife also LOVES their tacos. Great spot with a cool atmosphere.
Stanley’s Famous BBQ lives up to the name. First off, the brisket. Juicy, tender, and full of rich, smoky flavor. You could eat it by itself and be fully satisfied. But don’t skip the turkey either, surprisingly one of my favorites. The edges had this perfectly spiced crust, and unlike most BBQ turkey, it wasn’t dry or rubbery. Smooth bite, no weird textures. Just clean, well-seasoned meat. Then came the brisket nachos, and wow, I’m convinced the chips were homemade. Thick, crunchy, and held up under the weight of the meat and cheese. Topped with those pinto beans, which brings me to my only minor gripe. The beans, both on the nachos and the taco, were a bit overpowering. At times, all I could taste was beans. So, next time, I’ll ask to skip them. The taco itself was good, not great. I wasn't missing it or finding myself wanting another; otherwise. Bold, flavorful, and balanced. I also grabbed the mac and cheese, and honestly, I didn’t expect it to be that good, creamy with just the right bite. Furthermore,' the staff was also very friendly and helpful. One miss: the Painkiller cocktail. Flat and underwhelming. I’ve had better ones from chain restaurants like Cheddar’s. Still, incredible BBQ, great energy, and I’ll definitely be back. Stanley knows what they’re doing.
It’s probably been over a year since I’ve been, but today I decided to stop by Stanley's Famous Pit Barbecue! before heading to Arkansas for a quick 2 day job. I ordered a half a rack of ribs, half pound of that moist/fatty (brisket), and a water cup lol. The ribs were perfectly cooked. They had a really good candied bark on them, as well as a nice bite. Definitely not overcooked at all. The brisket itself was indeed moist. It was incredibly tender and definitely passed the finger test (pictured below). The bark had a really good salt and pepper taste to it. Simple, yet full of flavor. I’m definitely adding Stanley’s back into the rotation.
Highly recommended by one of my customers. Unique little hole in the wall place. A little bit of a challenge trying to park as it was pouring down rain and 1st time here. Found out that there is a rear parking area and entrance. Next time should be easier to park. They didn't offer a multiple meat plate so I ordered a little of a couple of meats so I could give it a god try. I ordered the sliced, hot link and ribs and for my sides I had Potato Salad and Mac & Cheese. Let me begin with the Mac and Cheese, just might be the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had, and I make a mean dish myself. It was so creamy with just the right tang. The Potato Salad was good but I would say it needed a touch of mustard in it. Now the main course - The Hot Link was very delicious, didn't have that overwhelming kick that a lot of links do. I was very pleased with the taste, tenderness and texture. The Sliced Brisket was delicious as well. Had a good smoke on it and was nice and tender as well. Finally - The Ribs, I was told that they were fall off the bone good. I didn't find them to be fall off the bone but OMG they had a nice candied flavor and taste to them. I would definitely love to be able to smoke some ribs like this at home. Staff was friendly and very helpful. With everything being said, I would definitely give this place and its food a 9 out of 10. The best part about trying the multiple meats - To Go Container and Leftovers.

I grew up in Tyler and we would all meet up at Stanley's Family BBQ, for the best BBQ in town. There is nothing like it. The best cut of meat and the tastiest sauce.

A recent uber trip brought me to Tyler from Forney. Once I dropped my passenger it was time to get some lunch. Looking up the food scene in multiple apps, they all put Stanley’s Famous Pit BBQ at or near the top of the list. My overall rating is a 4.65 and I can see why. Upon my initial visit, the restaurant looks unassuming from the outside but definitely has that small town meets big city charm on the inside. If you dine in, there are two dining areas upstairs. One inside, and the other is a covered patio. There also appears to be a rooftop deck.on to the main reason I’m here….the tasty vittles! I ordered the equivalent of a sampler platter that my server recommended. Not on the menu per say, but she entertained this foodie’s curiosity. I went with the ribs, pulled pork and brisket. For my sides I chose the cole slaw and potato salad. Included were 3 slices of bread and a small tray of pickle slices, jalapeños and sliced onions. Each meat portion was 1/2 lb in serving size. Plenty of food for this fatty! Total cost for the platter plus a medium coke was $36.25. Priced reasonably by Texas BBQ standards. My review of the food is overall a very pleasant experience. The ribs were meaty and plentiful. They seem to be prepared competition style. Not fall off the bone tender, but still tender enough. The rub had a forward presence of garlic followed by a sweetness that I am guessing is brown sugar. They were enjoyable on their own, naked, but the bbq sauce provided at the table added a little sweet, tangy heat. My preference these are good enough without the sauce. Overall rib score 4.9 out of 5. The brisket: slightly different than what I am used to. The smoke ring was on point, tenderness was spot on, it’s everything you expect for melt in your mouth brisket as far as the cook is concerned, but the rub…that kind of threw me off. Not bad, just different. You can taste the usual suspects in the seasoning such as the salt and pepper, but the brisket was giving off notes of nutmeg and possibly a little cinnamon. I enjoyed it, just didn’t expect it, as it is a little different than traditional brisket. The burnt ends that came on my portion of brisket actually elevated the flavor to the next level. Overall score on the brisket was 4.6 out of 5. Burnt ends if that’s all that I would have been given, I would have scored those 5 out of 5, they were that delicious. The pulled pork: It was juicy, flavorful and spot on for what pulled pork should be. The flavor profile had hints of garlic and a sweetness that wasn’t as forward present as the ribs, but still very enjoyable. This is where the sauce on the table became the star of the show. Just a little bit of this sauce, not even a teaspoonful, elevated this pulled pork to some of the best I’ve eaten anywhere. Overall pulled pork score 4.85 out of 5. The cole slaw: This was my least enjoyable item on my tray. Not because it was bad, because it was truly a unique flavor that I have ever tasted in a cole slaw. It was tangy, almost like an Italian dressing flavor, mixed with a little mayonnaise, but what threw me off was the presence of cilantro. Unfortunately I am one of those whose tastebuds think cilantro tastes like soap mixed with metal. If it weren’t for the cilantro, I would have truly enjoyed this. Overall score fore the cole slaw 3.5 out of 5. The potato salad: this was probably the most straightforward, what you expect at a bbq joint potato salad as it gets, and that is not a bad thing at all. It was flavorful and very enjoyable. Overall score 5 out of 5. Service was exceptional. My server at the front counter was very helpful. Once upstairs in the dining area, the servers working the floor were very attentive and brought that southern hospitality that truly makes this place feel like everyone is part of the family. There was an elderly gentleman that came in, and by all accounts he must be a regular, because every server working the floor made it a point to stop and greet him, some even hugged him. This is what customer service should look like. Customer service 5/5.
Kind of a weird set up you enter down below and order then you find a spot on the upper levels to eat. I had pork ribs, turkey and brisket. And yes that is in order of yumminess. I loved the ribs. I ordered 3 and got 5 so that is a bonus. 2 of the ribs were really small and a little crispy but the other 3 were tender, delicious and well seasoned. The turkey was tender and good with a slight Smokey flavor. Now everything about the brisket was fantastic except the flavor. It was tender, moist and the seasoning on the exterior of the cut but it was good but the actual meat was missing a good smokey flavor. Finally the bbq sauce was mid. Basically ketchup with pepper in it. Not impressed with the sauce. So hopefully it was an off day for the brisket and you have a better experience.
Food above average and always good, tinder, flavorful! service good but can be slow because of London lines. No ambiance, but it's barbecue joint, rustic! Always great place!

For the reputation of this place, I was really looking forward to delicious BBQ. What a disappointment! This is Texas BBQ? Cannot recommend this place unfortunately. Save your money and go somewher…
Kids love this place. Lots to do whenever you go. Pretty, clean and kid friendly. Worth the time and money. Very well thought out. Animals are not just in cages.
10 months ago we came for the first time and t the ribs was under cooked. We brought my brother and his wife yesterday and the same thing all the other meats brisket and sausage was on point Mac and cheese marvelous yet them ribs still under cooked. Let your put masters know to let there ribs cook thoroughly before adding any sauce especially sugary sauce which will cooked and make them think the ribs are done. So we're coming back and only thing I ask is the ribs are cooked
I was pretty stoked to check this place out, basing it on the reviews, but I gotta say, the food fell so short, I've had way better barbecue in Tyler than this place, so I'm just not sure if it was an off day, or what's going on. The ribs were extremely fatty, the brisket was dry, the pork was fatty, the only thing that was the saving grace of the things I ordered was the sausage, and that's not saying much. I will say that the staff is beyond friendly and helpful. If you're looking for five-star barbecue in Tyler, head north.
Was so excited to share Texas BBQ with my husband who is not from America and because we were in town for work and saw a lot of good reviews, we decided this would be the place we share that first memory. It's been years since I've been back in east Texas, but as a Texas native, I've had years of delicious BBQ and this was a little disappointing. I bragged about how good Texas BBQ is amazing on its own without the need for sauce and brisket is a great way to tell if a place knows what they're doing. The brisket and pulled pork we ordered for dinner was dry and didn't really have much of a flavor. Hot links and the house sausage was also lacking in flavor (and where was the kick in the hot links?) and the casing on the house sausage was a little hard to cut through with the plastic knives. Beans and ribs were okay, as was the peach cobbler with ice cream. Expected more from reading the reviews. Service was nice and they had a great live band playing so that made it more enjoyable overall.
We ordered two loaded baked potatoes. The brisket on them was good. Not much cheese or sour cream. I paid extra for sour cream. And didn’t get but one extra little packet of sour cream after I showed them I paid for extra sour cream. The potato I’m pretty sure was left over from the day before. The center was stone cold. Both of us very disappointed in the place over 47.00 for two brisket baked potatoes and only one drink. Nothing else. We probably should’ve ordered ribs. The workers seem nice. It was hot even inside the bar area.

Every restaurant has delays from time to time, but most don't lie to your face. 25 minutes for just a single serving of peach cobbler to go. I came from Brisket Love in Lindale and on the way home…
Was very disappointed today..... have had Stanley's several times and ordered 2 chopped beef potatoes today for our 10 yr anniversary. The potatoes taste very over cooked and where extremely dry. After mixing the meat with the potatoe... it all has a burnt over cooked taste. So we discarded 40 dollars in food...😩😢
