A great menu full of interesting, well prepared food. We had a great server as well, a true professional. The only downside for us, is that that the inside dining areas are fairly small, the place seems like a home that was converted into a restaurant and the dining areas are in what used to be rooms in the house. Those rooms are mostly hard surfaces, glass windows, hard table tops, hard ceiling, so the noise level is pretty high. You could probably ask for a quiet table and find one if you were looking for a quieter experience. But overall, service was very crisp and attentive, food came out quickly, my friend had a delicious frittata with bacon, caramelized onions, and Gorgonzola cheese topped with an arugula salad. Really, really good.
This place is always busy so I expected something good. I finally took my wife here at 10am on a Thursday and walked right in with no wait. From the street sidewalk we were greeted and asked “inside or patio” we requested patio and he asked us to walk around the corner on the sidewalk and he let us onto the very private patio. That experience felt a little bizarre, a bit like a speakeasy from 150 years ago. We were immediately seated at a table in a private nook. Our server Jason lit the fire pit in the center of our table. I asked for coffee and had hot coffee on the table within 30 seconds while he went to get us iced water. The service here from Jason was incredible. It really made our experience wonderful. Our food was good, probably and 8 or 9 out of 10 but the experience was as absolutely at 10. The patio is beautiful and private. We spent $59+tip for 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees. I will absolutely come back.
This place is outstanding and definitely lives up to the hype. We went two days in a row for breakfast because it was just that good. The peanut butter bacon banana French toast was delicious and so was the veggie pesto frittata. The atmosphere is so peaceful and everyone who works there is so friendly. This place is a must when in Ventura!
We went at dinner time but I ordered breakfast, the vegetarian frittata. It is a plate-sized frittata with chunks of potato, strips of onion and bell peppers, covered with a mild white cheese and some pesto. I definitely would have liked more pesto, but everything tasted good. It came with a blueberry corn muffin that was delicious and full of fruit. My date ordered a burger with hashbrowns piled on top of the meat. It was huge and he loved it. We also shared a grilled artichoke appetizer that came witha good dill sauce. The service was very attentive and the ambience was nice, it was quiet night for them.
I found this on my visit to Ventura. Just the hearty breakfast I was craving. Healthy, fresh choices and satisfied the sweet tooth as well. We arrived at the right time on Sunday morning that we got to sit right away. The wait staff were amazing, helpful, attentive, and friendly.
Beyond excellent service and super food - we had breakfast. We were on the dog friendly patio where each table is a secluded nook. The nook also had a patio fire in the middle of the table, so cozy. We will repeat this experience next time we come through town.
Cafe Nuevo is a wonderful place to eat with nice friendly waiters and Fees Delicious food. The only thing slightly off is how the waiters are great but the one waitress paid no attention to my order this recently happened got it wrong. Otherwise it's great place to family. My favorite is The Salmon and vegetable bowl with Teryaki sauce. And their blueberry muffins are fantastic. Yum. My husband and I Loved this fabulous place with Tropical appeal inside and cozy outdoor dinning too! Veyong 5 stars to us!!
Wonderful service and lovely setting. Food was delicious, fresh, tasty. Best cup of restaurant coffee in ages! Parking is tricky...but well worth a little stroll.
This place is lovely! So many amazing unique choices! Every bite was delicious. Very professional and friendly service. Atmosphere was very comfortable. I want to come back and try the entire menu! The maple bacon beignets were divine and reason to come here on their own.
Amazing place! Great food! I just love the vibe of this place and the service is always outstanding! We usually end up in Jason's section and he is top notch at his profession in every way. Friendly, knowledgeable, and so fast! The patio has a unique and inviting charm to it and the inside is absolutely gorgeous. If you are going for breakfast, try their homemade biscuits and gravy. They are to die for! For lunch, the enchiladas are amazing! I highly recommend Cafe Nouveau. You won't be disappointed. Best restaurant around!
This is a charming restaurant that is open for breakfast and lunch only closing at 2 PM. It's a favorite of the locals and fills up quickly. The food is exceptional as well as the service. Parking is a challenge. They have a very small lot or you have to park on one of the streets, but all parking is free. The menu has a nice variety.The salad that I had was exceptional and the pumpkin biscuits are to die for!

This is a hidden gem!! We are happy we stumbled on this amazing place, the food was so delicious that we ended up bringing friends back not only for breakfast but showed up for dinner too. The service was amazing and very friendly, so we will be coming up here again and recommending all our friends to stop by.
This is just such a nice place to have breakfast! I've eaten here a couple of times now and the food is delicious every time. The wait staff is attentive and all around awesome!! We sat outside each time and it seriously left like we were in our own little private dining area. The outdoor seating was brilliantly planned!! Highly recommend!! (Also the maple bacon beignets are delicious!!l
My wife and I are relatively new to the area and have been trying to find a good breakfast/brunch spot.Cafe Nouveau stands alone as the best place that we’ve eaten at for breakfast so far. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. There is great outdoor seating and eating inside is nice as well. You have to try the bacon beignets – it might be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.
Large breakfast/lunch menu. Everything was awesome. Need to come back to try the other dishes. If you get a chance to have Susan serve you, you’re in luck cause she’s super friendly and knows how to navigate the menu depending on your tastes.
Incredible every time. The complimentary flavors, wide selections, and large portions don't even begin to describe the food. I get something different almost every time, and I'm always impressed. The atmosphere is similarly undescribable, in this adorable old home that's been carefully turned into an Art Nouveau paradise. Even the bathrooms are works of art. The soft music matches the turn of the century. The owner, Carlos, is active throughout, always fine tuning and ensuring a wonderful dining experience. Cannot recommend enough.
The reviews speak for themselves. Seriously, the food was insanely good! The potatoes au gratin were maybe the best I’ve ever had? We went around 12:30pm on a Wednesday and didn’t even wait for a table. The service was great. The prices are expensive, you can expect to pay at least $20 per person. But that’s to be expected with high quality food. I don’t regret the money spent at all! We will definitely be back.
Come have breakfast at this wonderful little gem in midtown Ventura. You won't be disappointed! The menu is big, so you'll find what you want and leave satisfied. The price is reasonable, and the decor is so charming. It's a great experience overall, and if you're passing thru Ventura, be sure to visit. If you're a local, you have to try it at least once
First time visit and thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The service, ambiance and food was excellent. My wife had the halibut and I had the ribeye, both cooked perfectly and portions could have easily been shareable. Before finishing the dinner we already made plans to return to try the breakfast/brunch menu next time!

Good tasting dinner, good price, water was so so, all in all decent place to eat. Chicken Marsalis was good, as was the tenderloin.
I recently visited this restaurant and was impressed with their extensive breakfast menu and lovely outdoor dining experience. However, I was disappointed to learn that they do not allow strollers, making it inconvenient for families with smaller kids. On a positive note, the Mexican bowl I ordered was delicious, as were the pancakes, although I found them to be overpriced at $15 for only two. On the plus side, the portion sizes were generous. We also tried the tamale, which was decent. The only downside was having to park on the street. Overall, I would not recommend this place for families with strollers, but the food was enjoyable.

We visited this place this morning. We had been here before and never had any complaints until today. We arrived and, as always, the welcome was very warm and they made us feel at home. However, the first issue was the coffee — it had no flavor, the water was barely tinted. Then the main dishes arrived, and everything came out cold; not a single plate was served hot. We also have a 5-year-old daughter, and we had to order an adult plate for her because they don’t offer any kids’ options. I think this will be the last time we visit this place.
I made the huge mistake of not going with the flow here. I was here because someone else chose to meet here, despite that I can't eat eggs. I ordered the chili verde burrito, big mistake! This is the Most expensive mediocre burrito on the planet! 90% of it is refried beans and rice with barely enough chili verde to taste. Nothing else in it! All for $18.99! Truly an utter disappointment. I also ordered the beignets for the table and they were 4 tiny pieces. My partner liked her egg scrambled but for $20 I would hope so. Overall a ridiculously overpriced place with a decent French-esque country inn ambience. I have no desire to ever go back.
