La Marianna is a charming café and gelateria located in the upper part of Bergamo, in the beautiful Città Alta. Where you get a stunning view of the entire city below – it's a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy the atmosphere. This is actually the place where the famous Stracciatella gelato was invented, so of course I had to try it – and it did not disappoint! The gelato had generous chunks of chocolate and was delicious. They also offer a wide variety of other gelato flavors and desserts, all beautifully presented and very tempting. The coffee was also excellent – rich and full of flavor. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, adding to the relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The café itself is very spacious, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, which is great whether you're looking for a cozy corner or a sunny spot with a view. I highly recommend La Marianna – whether you're a gelato lover, a coffee enthusiast, or just looking for a lovely place to rest while exploring Bergamo. It's definitely worth a visit!

Very lovely place and their pastries are simply amazing! 😍 we were coming back here every day during our trip to Bergamo (one day we came here twice!). You won’t find a big variety of pastries in the afternoon due to the place popularity, but if you come in the morning you will have amazing choice of fresh pastries. Can’t wait to be back to this beautiful cafe!

Really nice place. They have a lot of place inside but me and my friends chose to eat on the terrace. If it's not too cold outside, trust me, you dont want to miss this opportunity, it's really cute, somehow intimate and typically italian. Really nice staff and really good, flavourful desserts. Because it was our last day in Italy we really wanted to have a taste of everything we missed in our trip to Italy, so we had a bunch of tarts. Good tasty crunchy tart shells and soft creamy fillings, the whipped cream was super good, i bet it was natural . Go to La Marianna and have a great time , take care, until next time !

Day trip to Bergamo, I stopped by to try Stracciatella (chocolate chip gelato). It is a birthday place of stracciatella. I am not big chocolate chip ice cream person. It was creamy and it was good. I wanted wafer cone, it is only come in 3 scoops, 4.50 euro. The wafer cone was okay. The other two favors were pistachios and strawberry. Stracciatella was the best of the three. Is it better than other gelato, not really.

Went there to try their og straciatella. It tastes amazing, but we got scammed a bit. When you order a “scoop” at the bar, you will get ice cream cone for 1€, but if you sit and order a “scoop”, you will get ~3 scoops in a glass for 5€. Be aware, but enjoy the authenticity of this place :)

great place for a sweet stop . the cafe is renowned by its STRACCIATELLA icecream . but its much more they have great pastries and coffe . i really liked there brioche and for rum lovers the have a baba (sponge cake soaked in rum)

Our family liked the atmosphere, the ice cream and desserts, but the service was not warm. There was no queue, but the sales assistant was impatient and showed her displeasure that we had difficulty choosing. I did a report on the history of Stracciatella ice-cream for another country and praised in Italian how the vendor put the ice-cream beautifully on the waffle, but I was informed that filming and photography was only allowed after asking permission, whose permission was not clear. I really liked the ice cream parlour, which we also visited at Bergamo airport, where the range was very narrow but the service was much better.

A beautiful venue with disappointing gelato. My friend and I stopped by during our day trip to Bergamo. Having previously lived in Italy and being a lover of gelato she was keen to have some at the birth place of stracciatella. Unfortunately our gelato was very melted and turned to liquid very quickly. When we spoke to staff they were dismissive and insisted that was the consistency of gelato compared to ice-cream. When my friend explained that she had lived in Italy and eaten a lot of gelato in her time, they started to backtrack offering to replace one of the three flavours she had ordered as the other two were still quite soft. Disappointing to say the least.

Not very nice place. The people are going here only because it is famous. The stracatella icecream wasnt very good -sweet water. The croissant was very dry. I ordered lungo and they brought me probbably espresso. In the caffeteria there was unpleasant smell and dirty tables. Not cozy at all. The staff was Okey.
