The service is great! Our waitress gave good suggestions and answered all our questions politely and in detail. Nice that the restaurant is open late! Def recommend eating here and bring a light jacket if you tend to get cold from AC. Portions are very large for the soups and some entrees so sharing is definitely possible. We ordered a stone bowl beef bibimbap, Korean glass noodle appetizer (japchae), and rice cake and kimchi dumpling egg drop soup (mild). I loved the rice cake and kimchi dumpling soup! The rice cakes are so chewy, the soup is the perfect temperature, and the kimchi dumplings are large and have a good kick! Not to mention the soup also has small chunks of beef but there were more pieces than I expected! And they add a good flavor to the soup. The stone bowl bibimbap didn't quite make the rice crunchy but it was still tasty and the beef wasn't just cheap ground beef but chewy chunks. Japchae was a bit oily but still tasty and also had sizeable chunks of beef. Very generous and yummy banchan (complimentary small plate sides) as well. Definitely a go-to Korean restaurant! Also they give a small half cup of the rice punch at the end of the meal!
It’s a little expensive, but the food and service are stellar. The short ribs are flavorful, but the beef stone bibimbap could be a little more flavorful. The seafood pancake was huge, and the side dishes were all spicy and delicious. We left incredibly satisfied and not nauseatingly full. Our only issue was that the dumpling soup tasted off, but they quickly rectified it in a professional manner. As another reviewer mentioned, the labyrinthine interior is cozy and intimate.
So this is one of my all time favorite places to eat. When you are seated, you're in your own private area with a door. No one bothers you unless you press a button on the wall. It is wonderful. The servers were beyond stellar. I will eat here a few more times before I inevitably have to return home. Highly recommend this place.
nice authentic Korean restaurant, we had 2 lunch specials: kimchi fried rice and the beef bulgogi with miso soup. the order came with a nice complement of banchans. the waitress was very nice and spoke very little English augmenting the authentic feel. the food was delicious. bring a sweater its quite cold in the restaurant. I cant wait to come back for diner with the family
A truly Korean experience, everyone there is so nice and very willing to help you have the most delicious and fun meal out you've probably ever had. The restaurant is tucked away like a hidden gem and offers an atmosphere of peaceful community. The prices seem a bit high but when they bring out the plates of meats to cook along with all the included sides you forget about your wallet as your thoughts are drowned out by your growling stomach as well as the sizzle and smell of the meat at your table.
I have been looking for a really good Korean restaurant near our house for months now. I'm a vegetarian so it's been really hard for me to find a delicious kimchi tofu soup. We found this restaurant that has vegetarian options and I had to try. When we first walk in, every table has it's own little private area. We were guided to our table where there's also a small call button whenever we need service. The restaurant is clean and there are nice live plants all around the area that are being well taken cared of. That's good feng shui you know. =) The placed the spoon and chopsticks inside a plastic bag which shows how clean they are. The ajummas would come take our order and serve our dishes. They are so nice and thoughtful. One ajumma gave our baby boy some seaweed pieces just for him to munch on. So sweet of her! It didn't take long for the food to all come out at once. My husband ordered the chives pancake and he said it is pretty good. He also ordered the instant noodle bowl which he liked. We both think the spicy level is perfect. You can taste the spiciness but not too much to where you can't eat more. I ordered the kimchi tofu soup and it's so flavorful!! Mmm....I loved it! At the end, they helped us pack our food nicely to go and gave each of us, even our baby, a cup of drink that's cleansing. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a nice Korean food! We're definitely coming back often and will bring friends!
Everything was perfect, food was great, service was excellent, the ladies they were all nice. This is a great place to get authentic Korean food. Is one of our favorite restaurants in Korea town. Highly recommend this place, everything is served fresh and the quality of the meat is excellent!
Nice, obscure Korean restaurant! It's like a little maze in there with the booths - I love it, it's different and a more private setting to eat with friends/family. I got the beef boshintang soup dish that was posted on the booth wall, very good! The workers are all sweet, but it is a little harder to get service when you need it since they can't see you. I don't think the smiley button on the booth wall for service works 🤔 I tried it but no one came for awhile. And in the soda section, there's 'Sprite' and below it 'Spritye'. I ordered the Spritye out of curiosity because the lady told me it's Korean Sprite - turned out to be Maison Perrier sparkling water haha. So FYI: Spritye = Perrier sparkling water
My husband’s Korean colleagues highly recommend this place, so we decided to give it a try this week. Our friends sent us some photos of the dishes they recommended and it turned out those are off menu items— ox foot soup (joktang) and pork backbone & potato hotpot (gamjatang). Both are delicious. The ox foot soup is rich, and tastes really good. The potato hotpot is not very spicy. We also ordered Corn Cheese which is not in the picture. It is a side dish loaded with lots of corn and melty, gooey mozzarella cheese! It is so creamy and darn good. Service is excellent. I also like the private seating and definitely will come back with friends.
The food was so delicious and the service was great. We got the marinated pork and were so happy with the flavor. The side dishes were good - and they give you refills. We have been to other Korean BBQ places and this was just as good if not better. Highly recommended. Try the peach sake!!!
Even though this hidden gem is in an older part of town, the food and experience are quite authentic. It's so delicious. We drive an hour to come eat here.
Food and service were great! I enjoyed kalbi and cold noodle combo.
This might be my favorite Korean spot in HTX! My friends and I wanted a nice hearty meal late at night and thankfully Tree Garden is open until midnight so we decided to give this spot a try. There was plenty of parking and we were surprised to be the only ones to be in the restaurant on a Friday night. We ordered the following: Seafood Pancake Perfectly crispy with a good amount of seafood. I’ve been to numerous Korean places in HTX and wasn’t too impressed with this specific dish but Tree Garden does it well! Marinated Beef Short Ribs w/buckwheat noodles I love that this restaurant offers this combo and I’d highly recommend this if you’re craving both noodles and some protein! The noodles were so satisfying and they have slices of asian pear in it that adds a nice juicy, refreshing touch to the dish. The beef ribs were tender, savory, and full of flavor. Seafood Pure Tofu Hot Pot This was the star of the show in my opinion. My group had 4 people including me and we each got a large bowl. The broth was so delicious and with the silken tofu and seafood, this was our favorite dish of the night. Aside from the dishes we ordered, the banchan was fresh and delicious! Our favorite was the green beans which were savory and had a little bit of a kick to it. The ajuhmas working here were very friendly and did an amazing job at serving- we really appreciate how they served our bowls of soup and took care of the leftovers in to-go boxes. And at the very end of the meal, they serve Sikhye. Looking forward to coming back and trying everything else!
This authentic Korean restaurant has become my go-to spot for lunch, and it never disappoints. If you're looking for a true taste of Korea, this is the place to be! The soups are absolutely fantastic—rich, flavorful, and deeply comforting. My kids also love them. They’re perfect for any day, especially when you need something warm and satisfying. The array of small side dishes (banchan) is another highlight. From pickled vegetables to savory bites, everything is fresh, delicious, and a perfect complement to the meal. One of the best things about this place is how healthy the food feels. The ingredients are clearly top-notch, and you can tell the dishes are crafted with care and authenticity. It’s no surprise that you’ll often see Korean patrons dining here—a true testament to the quality and authenticity of the cuisine. The waitresses are incredibly sweet and attentive, always making you feel welcome and ensuring you have everything you need. Their kindness adds a personal touch that makes each visit feel special. If you’re craving a hearty, authentic Korean meal that’s both delicious and nourishing, this restaurant is a must-visit. Highly recommended! 🍲🇰🇷
Our experience was Tree Garden was quite good. The pancake and the soups were great. The sides were delicious too. Service was courteous and attentive.
They should state on their menu that their Beef Combination ($99.90) feeds 3-4 people and it’s actually a good deal!😀
This restaurant been around forever! So we decided to stop in for lunch. We decide to let them bbq for us in the back kitchen and it came out delicious. the Galbi meat was tender and full of flavor and cooked perfectly. we also enjoy their banchan side dishes that pair nicely with the bbq meat. their galbi tang soup and Jajangmyeon noodles was pretty good too.
Finally found our authentic Korean spot in Houston! Moved here from Dallas last year and every Korean place I tried was a bit of a disappointment till I found Tree Garden. I knew it was going to be good when I called to see if they were indeed open till midnight and they answered in Korean and when we came in, it was full of Koreans speaking Korean. We ordered spicy squid, kimchi Jjigae, the rice cakes reminded me of my childhood and spice, flavor, texture was on point! LA Galbi was DELICIOUS! Worth the price. Will be a repeat customer for sure.
Decided to try this place out for my sister's birthday and we are so glad we did! The place is beautiful, it has plenty of seating and for the bigger parties they have the private rooms for them which is so cool! The service is great and the waitresses are on point! They have a doorbell for when you are ready to order, if you need anything and check out. The menu was extensive with plenty to choose from. The food came out in a perfect timing and the food was premium! All of the food had amazing flavors and everything was fresh. We took our leftovers as well. I will definitely be telling everyone about this place.
Arrived around 4 pm. Received a warm welcome. Quickly seated with a smile. My order arrived soon and was served with care. Ordered clay stone bowl beef bibimbab and iced rice punch. Both where delicious. Be sure to visit this restaurant, the decor is simply beautiful
One of our favorite places for Korean BBQ! The bossam is also very delicious. The kimchi here is addictive! We usually buy some extra kimchi to take home.

I haven’t been to S Korean, but it makes me think it would just like it. The staff is kind, and attentive. The food is always delicious. The serving sizes are more than one can eat. The atmosphere is calm, clean and comfortable. Food dishes that I’ve tried and are on repeat is spicy pork and kimchi stir fry. stir fry squid, beef short rib stew, and the jajangmyeon.

Sweet staff, good food, nice that they’re open late! Downside: the bbq was very expensive for one meat dish. Seafood pancake 5/5 yum. Bone in marinated rib meat BBQ - 5/5 quality meat and good flavor but overpriced for the portion. $42 see photo. Wouldn’t order again. Cold buckwheat noodles - 4/5 nothing special but hits the spot
this place has delicious korean food! as a korean myself, i'd say their dishes are pretty authentic. i love their beef bone soup! the sides are great too but i don't rly need them. the only ones i would go with are kimchi and kimchi cubes. i also order their spicy rice cake with fried seaweed rolls and they go well together for sure. i however think the spicy rice cake is a bit inconsistent. last time i got was way better than the one i got yesterday. the hot green tea is a must. all staffs are really friendly and the bell makes everything easier when you need something. i like how they have booths and closed rooms, it minimizes the noise. one star has been taken off because even tho they try to keep the noise level down, sometimes it can get loud and obnoxious. also there were times where i am eating and they were cleaning which dropped my appetite because i could smell bubbly soap smell and i wanted to gag. ample parking right upfront.
Not a bad option for Korean food, but we felt the other options in the immediate area were better. The bibimbap was stingy on vegetables and meat. We ordered the naengmyun / galbi combo, but there was a miscommunication and we only got the galbi after we asked about it (and by that time, we finished all of our food). Kimchi was a bit too sour to be used as a side dish. Service was about average for a Korean restaurant. They also don’t accept Amex, but still use Amex receipt holders (that they scribbled out Amex off).
“Overall, my experience was thoroughly enjoyable. The service was marked by a genuinely friendly and attentive waitress who contributed to the welcoming atmosphere. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted and delivered with balanced, tasteful flavors. It’s a charming spot that I would confidently recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant and satisfying dining experience.
Korean restaurants in the area are usually really good. This place is no exception. Prices are really high though, nearly $40 for an order of Kalbi. Banchan’s aren’t as plentiful or tasty as other places. Really enjoyed sweetened rice water they give after the mean.
I came to Tree Garden Restaurant one evening during the summer. The service was so-so. Maybe it was near closing time. Food was so-so. But I would like to come back during lunch.
Seafood pancake here was balanced with a good amount of vegetables and seafood. It was the right amount of crispiness as well. The accompanying sauce was tangy and sweet. As for the seafood + soft tofu hot pot, it was quite a generous portion. I've never seen so much tofu in one pot before! Good variety of seafood as well such as octopus, clams, mussels etc. I feel that the hot pot broth was just a bit bland. It could've used either more garlic, soy sauce, or fish sauce even. Initially I enjoyed it but as I kept tasting the soup I realized I was mainly just getting red pepper powder water flavor. I recommend ordering ramen noodles to add to the hot pot. Side dishes here were nothing to write home about. I appreciated having a call button though!
I recently ordered from this place due to a discount offer. The regular prices are quite high. The Napa and Beef Short Rib Stew was excellent, with tender meat. However, the Beef Stone Bowl Bibimbap was disappointing. It lacked flavor and salt. Unsure if this is how it's meant to be as it was my first time trying bibimbap.

It’s ok. The zucchini pancake was ok and the rice rolls were a bit too soft and the flavor was just ok. The barley tea tasted like hot water. I felt like they didn’t put much barley in it. I put a lot more when I make it at home. The fried chicken was good. The jiajiamyeon noodles were a bit too soft and.
Food was OK. Very slow service. They won't bring some dishes unless you asked for it even though they were part of some dishes. For example, rice and fermented soybean soup should be part of duck dish. They did not serve them until I asked for it. The waitress said if customers didn't asked then they would not serve these dishes.
Overall the food was pretty good but today it lacked much flavor. I wish the bulgogi was cooked long and with more sauce to bring out the flavor. The sides were pretty good but nothing stood out. The soup was probably the highlight with a salty kimchi flare. The lunch special is at a good price! I wish I tried the bbq instead. The staff were super nice and helpful.
I’m trying to give Houston more chances with Korean food, but it just can’t compete with Atlanta or Dallas… This place is another example. Excellent service - super friendly staff and quick servings. Also the atmosphere is good - almost like a labyrinth designed restaurant. The layout consists of separated semi-private tables. Three stars because of the food. The flavor and texture is just not on point. Banchan were just ok overall. The boiled pork belly is too dry and chewy. Beef stew and pork stir fry were good, but not great in terms of flavor
Walked in and was greeted right away! The staffs were so nice and attentive. Deep fried seaweed roll: size wise was small. But overall my go to appetizer if they have it on the menu. Fish roe soup: the soup flavor was delicious! The fish roe, not so much. It was dry and very tough. There was 5 pieces and I ended up only eating 1. It comes with a bowl of rice! Bone broth: the soup is thicker than most places. They include a side of salt for you to add in. You’re going to need it as it has no seasoning inside. Meat was tender and delicious. It comes with a bowl of rice! Price: it is higher than most. Paid $60 for 3 items including the tip. Parking: really easy! Lots of parking.

The food was nothing special, the portion was pretty small especially the stir fried glass noodles with like 4 pieces of meat with some white onions. The cheese corn was so sweet that pretty sure they overdid with the sugar. I was so disappointed with the rice cake soup, it was plain. The beef bulgogi, the meat was extra chewy, flavor was off. The beef fried rice was oily. The only so so dish of all was the intestines bbq. Service was good though as they did refill the banchan for our table for like 3 times.

I had spicy seafood soup which was the only thing I could eat . I ordered my mom beef short rib and beef onion soup and all the meat was so chewy she could not eat it. I told the waitress but they wouldn’t substitute with anything else and we just had to deal with it -I also tried the meat and it was consistently chewy and firm on all the foods we ordered. It was unfortunate they didn’t care about happy customers because they just “shrugged it off” I think they use cheap meat cuts . Unfortunate, because price range was 15-20 anyway per meal and the bill was $100 for food that was not good. We should have just ate at the food court at 99 ranch the Korean food there is way better
Had a lunch with a group of five. Added 20% tip to our bill without any communication. This is absolutely illegal- you need to disclose any mandatory fee in advance. Since when this is okay? Also a dumb business practice. You get a one time big tip but lose customers.
I never want to post a bad review about a place with a great ambience and large portions but the food tonight was extremely lacking. I’ve eaten at several Korean restaurants in Houston and Philadelphia and went to Korea years ago and was completely blighted by this experience at Tree Garden. We decided to go to this resturant because they were opened late and wanted Korean food. It’s a nice place and feels very relaxed when you walk it. It smelt amazing in there and the menu was VERY LARGE. We ordered the jajangmyeon and jjampong and the portions were HUGE. Enough for 4 people. But it was disappointing and tasteless. In the jjampong the octopus was sour and not kimchi sour like no longer good sour. The broth was more watery. The jajangmyeon didn’t have that black bean flavor that I was so used to, it was saucy but no flavor in the sauce. The meat was minced but there was no flavor in the meat as well. It was just disappointing. After eating 2-3 bites trying to get the flavor, We told the waiter that we didn’t like the food and we were given the receipt with the dishes still on there. We refused to pay because we really ate 2-3 bites trying to find the flavor. After this the owner said that it was okay and that we didn’t have to pay but he demanded we pay the waiter a tip and basically made us feel like were just Americans who never experienced Korean food therefore didn’t know what we were talking about. This was too much and I didn’t want to defend myself when it comes to flavor so I just remained silent. While I still paid the tip. I will NOT be coming back due to this. The menu felt like a diverse set of cuisine but it’s a lot and in some areas some dishes aren’t held up to the same standards as others. However, I understand that Tree Garden is known more for their BBQ and soups rather than their noodles. So in no way do I discourage people to NOT go even though I had a bad experience. However, these two dishes are very bad and would recommend going to a resturant that specializes in noodles. Like Paik Noodles or even the Hmart food court (sorry) because I know it would be better.
Let me set the stage for you: it is 1pm on a hot Saturday afternoon. I come to Tree Garden with my entire Viet family, starved and ready to eat some authentic Korean food. By the end of this experience, I leave mistreated, humiliated, and very upset. I have never been treated this obscenely in my entire life. We had ordered 5 dishes - one including the Galbi Beef. The waitress took our order and, in broken English, told us that this certain dish cost $18.99. We agreed upon this and ordered a portion. Upon receiving the beef, the portion sizing was extremely small (received 9 slices of beef total, as displayed in the photo by the number of bones on the platter). Not wanting to complain, we decided to eat it, despite the $18.99 price. After finishing our meal, we receive the check, only to find out that we were charged $38.99 - a WHOPPING $20 upcharge. When we brought this up to the waitress, her tone immediately became argumentative and condescending. We tried to be reasonable for what we were given in the first place, but the refusal to elaborate on the extra charge was unacceptable and dishonest as a business. Looking back, the fact that this business did not have many customers during a weekend lunch rush is truly telling not just of their food quality, but, now as I've witnessed, of their terrible service as well. If you are considering eating at this restaurant, expect to be scammed out of your money and treated like garbage when you try to point it out.
