Comimos de lujo y muy bien atendidos. Muy contentos con este sitio, como para repetir si volvemos a Santander. Especial mención al arroz con bogavante, a las zamburiñas y a las anchoas.

Excelente atención y servicio. Muy atentos y estamos muy agradecidos. Llegamos casi con la cocina cerrada y aún así nos atendieron muy amablemente. La comida está estupenda y por eso ya hemos repetido. Recomendable

En mi opinión, el mejor restaurante de todo Santander. De los pocos sitios que ofrecen la mejor relación calidad-precio. Servicio excepcional; los arroces, la ensalada, la ventresca con cebolla caramelizada… no hay nada que deje que desear. El trato con los camareros es muy bueno. Solo mejorarían un poco el control de las reservas, ya que algunos días, aun habiendo reservado en la terraza, nos colocaban dentro o viceversa.

We knew our fussy nine-year-old would not want to eat here, so we took her to a nearby restaurant for her favourite food first. As a result when we got to Peña Candil, it was full, and all the many staff were hastening about serving the customers. I spoke to one of them and he gave us hope that there would be a table for three in ten minutes. Our wait was not in vain, we were soon seated and ordering. We had a starter of zamburiñas which arrived soon after our bottle of wine and water. Our lobster and rice came with several extra tools. When we had had our fill, we chatted with the waiter and he showed us how to use them properly. For me, the large cooked cheesecake was the the pick of the bunch. Our daughter had been amused by a game on a mobile phone, and we all enjoyed the visit

This restaurant is fantastic. We had an Airbnb rental across the road and we turned up without a reservation. The food quality was excellent and the service was friendly and professional. They also had menu’s in English and all the staff were extremely attentive and they were setup to have a child at the table. A wonderful experience all around ! Also some signing broke out behind our table from the locals eating lunch. (The waiter in the video was our server and he was superb 💥)

My wife and I dined here last night. We had rabas as a starter and arroz con bogavante as a main course, with tarta de queso to wrap it up. The food was amazing although if I'd known how much rice we were going to get I'd have probably skipped the rabas. Although my wife is Spanish I have toda la pinta de guiri and my attempts to eat the bogavante were reminiscent of that restaurant scene in Mr Bean goes on Holiday. Luckily I think only my long suffering wife was affected by flying lobster. We were there on a bank holiday weekend and it was pretty busy - I would recommend reserving

We had this salad and paella. Both were unbelievably delicious. The salad was light with the right degree of sour and sweet. The shrimps are super fresh! A great summer dish. I am thinking about the flavor after almost a month. The paella is also very good. I experienced so many flavors exploded in my mouth. Highly recommended!!

Y hubo que comer 🍽️ 🌊 Nueva visita al restaurante Peña Candil, un establecimiento tradicional de inspiración y claro ambiente marinero, ubicado a espaldas de la conocida calle Castilla de Santander y muy cerca de las estaciones de tren y autobuses. Fuimos porque siempre que pasamos lo vemos lleno de gente. Reservamos a ultima hora del día para comer al siguiente y nos hicieron hueco en la terraza, y reservamos dos raciones de arroz con bogavante. El servicio muy bueno, muy amables y tienen la terraza montada de manera que se puede estar a gusto a pesar de la calle no es muy agradable para poner mesas. Pero el arroz con bogavante no nos gustó especialmente. Se podia comer bien, tenia bastante bogavante pero el arroz estaba muy amarillo y le faltaba ese sabor de fondo que debería tener un buen guiso de arroz. No sé si es normal utilizar ese colorante, y no sé si le habian echado agua o algún caldo poco acertado. Pedimos croquetas de bogavante que estaban bastante buenas y unas rabas de calamar que para mi gusto eran muy grandes. Son cantidades generosas pero la pena fue el arroz, por el precio debería estar mejor hecho.

Este restaurante es un clásico de Santander al cual hemos acudido nosotros por primera vez, compartimos de entrante unos mejillones, que estaban muy buenos, y de segundo una arroz de marisco y un machote (pescado típico de Cantabria), que estaban buenos. Trato muy amable por parte de todo el personal.

Nos encantó la decoración. Es como entrar en un barco pesquero. Atención buena del personal y comida de calidad. Raciones abundantes.

The food here is absolutely delicious - both the calamares and the gambas were very tasty, as well as the tuna salad. If you’re searching for good seafood - this is a great place. The only thing that’s worth improving is the service - it was very chaotic inside, the waiters were at times rude (probably because we were tourists) which is a let down, considering the quality of the meals.

Came here after doing a PCR test and waiting for the result (negativ). It's quite hidden located in a backstreet. But feedback was good and we felt like some seafood. Took a table outside, our Bulldog was welcome as well. The waiter was super-friendly, took time to explain the menu and recommend us some items. We chose seafood croquetas, scallops, grilled shrimp and some fish/seafood mousse. Croquetas were fine, the shrimp were good (but we've had better before on this trip). The scallops were nice and fresh, tender...perfectly cooked. The fish/seafood mousse was different, but in a good way. Nice flavour to it, never seen this item anywhere before. A good choice. All in all a very good - but not great - meal. But for a big town like Santander very reasonably priced with a nice service. We enjoyed our lunch.

Horrible experience, we went there to have a proper dinner but my friend was not feeling well so we wanted to just start with coke and langostine a la plancha . However, the waiter behaved very rude and had a heinous attitude of serving food. We assumed because he thought we were not gonna eat much. I have been to many places in Spain so far and have always find the people so kind. But as we all know, a single incident can make or break the entire experience.And that day the waiter did the same . After finishing the starter when we asked for the menu again, he was still having a horrible attitude and upon asking he forced us to order things .I would never never visit this place nor recommend anyone to go to such place where people lack sympathy and kindness. After all you are in food business, people should leave with a happy smile and not a heavy heart like we did.
