An incredible experience at Alma (Hotel Zachary)! We went for their Sunday Afternoon Tea (available on select non-game day Sundays) and it was absolutely amazing! The space is chic and stylish, and you can’t beat the iconic views of Wrigley Field—such a unique and beautiful setting for tea. We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling rosé, followed by a delicious pot of tea—I chose the Mallorca Melon, which was light, fruity, and perfect for summer. The tea selection changes seasonally, which makes me excited to come back and try something new! The food was just as impressive: a beautifully presented spread of fresh pastries, sandwiches, and desserts, all of which were super flavorful and clearly made with care. Huge shoutout to our server, Amir—he was outstanding! Friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend Alma for anyone looking for a special afternoon out in Wrigleyville!
Teresa is really wonderful. So is Salem. They make a great team. Menus are small. Night time mostly shareable. Breakfast has some really great options. The room is cozy. Lots of different sitting options. Outstanding.
Two reviews in one! Alma at night for cocktails and appetizers. Very cool bar set up and a cozy vibe. Cocktails were delish - love the Z stamped cube in the Old Fashioned - a bit high on the price for that one but the other mixed drinks (including the beautiful whiskey sour in the pictures) were priced fairly for the downtown area. The Arancini appetizer was really tasty - highly recommend! The feta fries have some kick so be aware. Alma for breakfast - great little buffet. Sausage and eggs were super well done. Fresh and delish coffee and wonderful juices. Great server as well - very friendly and accommodated our request to sit outside on the deck - what a view! We really enjoyed this "upscale" gem in the heart of Wrigleyville.
I had a little mixup while checking into the hotel and I was given a drink credit, I can’t remember the server name however I told him to just surprise me. I had no intentions on staying as long as I did mainly just for the drink ticket and hopefully by then get to my scheduled plans. However after three drinks later enjoying great sports being played on the flat screens and a combination of chic and industrial interiors. This hotel bar is the perfect concept of masculine and feminine as it’s decorated beautifully and the drinks and the appetizers and service was amazing.
Hotel Zachary hosted us for a private event here and the space was immaculate. I didn’t get the chance to eat and drink as I was just stopping through briefly but I’ll drop in sometime and edit my review to include the food and drinks. Going purely off of the ambiance, overall aesthetic, the cordial staff and what I’ve been hearing about their specialty drinks and charcuterie boards, I’d say give this spot a try for sure.
Old Fashioned flight! The flight features a classic Old Fashioned, a Japanese Whiskey Old Fashioned, and a Mezcal Old Fashioned; all delicious. The cocktails are all good. They feature a simple menu, but everything I had was very well prepared. The staff is friendly and welcoming. A nice change from the typical Wrigglyville bar.
Great tasting Zachary Old Fashioned
Sked the bartender for their recommendation and trusted their gut. They were right on. Amazing service, validation for parking - I'll be back.
Great place. Their old fashioned is off the charts.
Had a great time. Loved the vibe!
Great service and Drinks. Super chill vibe enjoyed the patio.
Their cocktails are a bit pricey, but breakfast was simple yet amazing! Our bar tender this morning was beyond friendly and offered us a couple “gut” shots which were delicious and great for right before breakfast. This guy is the best!
The location right across from Wrigley Field is awesome. Can only imagine the vibe during game day. The room blew us away. Probably one of the nicest rooms we have experienced in a while. No complaints whatsoever. Will definitely come back.
THE place to go after a Cub's game. We had so much fun playing pool and making new friends
We had the great pleasure to enjoy great drinks at the outdoor patio. The highlight was the manager Sunny. He was so warm and sweet and Even-though we stayed passed closing he made us feel so welcome! If you are in wrigleyville this is a must do!
10/10 experience here. Best drinks! Ask for Jena, they are the best bartender.
Great service and atmosphere. This place is pricey so I'm guessing you're here on business. Otherwise why come here in wrigley of all places. But if money isn't a concern then this place is nice. Good atmosphere, clean bathrooms, and they even have some games.
Great place for a super cozy date, get a booth. The servers are wonderful and nice wine list too. The staff there bent over backwards to be off the charts accommodating. I will absolutely be there again.
Swanky and chill during the day. A bit “clubby” at night with DJs. Elevated bar/bistro food. They know how to make a good paper plane.
We just had the best Easter Bunny breakfast with our family. So nice the Easter Bunny wasn’t just a single photo, but walked around and interacted with our 1 year old! He absolutely loved it. Service and food were great. Will absolutely be back for another event or meal with our little one.
Bar is always good energy even if low-key, music and pool table is great. Unique cocktails and the bartender John talked us into a shot that I’m needing more of, Chicago Not-Dog? I’ll need another one just to confirm, see y’all again asap
Absolutely love this place! Service was amazing. Staff very friendly and attentive. The cocktails were delicious with plenty of options. Good selection of appetizers/entrees. The atmosphere was one of my favorite parts! Comfy chairs, the fireplace, and soft lighting made it feel very cozy. Highly recommend!
Great high end place to have a few drinks before a Cubs game. Tuna tartar was fresh!
Absolutely beautiful cocktail lounge. Located on the second floor with a killer view of Wrigley. Tons of different cocktails and delicious food. Great place to go when you are looking for something different than another sports bar. Its worth going in just to see how pretty it is.
Great place to pregame or just to have some social drinking with some friends Live music on an occasion and a DJ bringing a real great vibe to the environment, the kitchen is clean and well maintained the staff are so warming and fun a real cool place to just unwind chill and enjoy Life.
I’m not kidding they have the best fries I’ve ever had in my life
The drinks are delicious, particularly the cocktail with malort. Service is very fast and friendly. I wish the menu had a vegan option other than one salad but generally a nice experience. My mom and husband loved the burger.
Was here for a company holiday party and they did an amazing job ! We had our own private area. The staff was amazing and so friendly and quick with service. The whole place was so nice and the decor for the holidays was perfect! Definitely recommend it here for a holiday party or just come here in general to hangout at the bar .
Stayed at Hotel Zachary for winter wonderland. It was a great experience. The staff is very welcoming. We had drinks at Alma and had hey hey z beer. Fantastic beer only at Alma. Highly recommended.
We booked the Love Alma Globe express for Valentines. Overall it was a cute experience but the place is over expensive. We liked the decor inside the globe, there was a Polaroid camera where you can click uptown 10 pictures, choose music of your choice. Got complementary glass of Sparkling Wine and some dessert. You can do valet parking for just $8. Food was average, hummus plate and artichoke dip were good but chicken skewers dish was a little dry.
4pm 1.13.2024 Always a great treat in our own back yard! Tonight was a bit different than the previous four times we’ve stopped by. Our regular bartender wasn’t there and they seemed to be somewhat overwhelmed in the beginning with one bartender and one bar-back. I ordered our favs Cosmopolitans and Feta fries. The fries were epic to the last bite. We loved the cosmos so much, per usual, so we ordered them again and never got them… so we eventually just closed our tab. We also had sports on every tv and when we asked for a change to one tv, we soon realized that’s not much of an option. Sports only, at all times period! Seems a bit restrictive but oh well, must be a sports bar! Wanted to play some pool but lost the opening, next time!
Comfortable, elegant hotel bar across the street from Wrigley Stadium.
Fun place to take the parents when they’re in town for a visit, particularly when dad loves all things baseball. Pretty good drinks, etc as well — although expensive, but you get what you expect when across from Wrigley.
We stopped in Alma in the evening for a few rounds of drinks after dinner. We've been here a few times before and always seem to like it. The drinks and wine options are pretty good. There's a ton of space which we like too. The service was lackluster though. We sat for awhile before our server came by; he eventually came over and took our drink order but wasn't that friendly. We had to flag him down for our other rounds. The ambience of the space itself is pretty good, but the music was just a little too loud for a hotel bar. We'll go back again, but there is room for improvements.
Great bar, love the atmosphere and decor. Nice beer and wine offerings. I could see home plate from my room. That alone is worthy of a good review. Tad high but if you’re staying here you’re in the neighborhood for the total experience so deal with it or find a hostel. Staff more than friendly and gets five stars for service. Loved it.
The balcony has a great view of wrigley field. The cauliflower and arancini apps are tasty but small portions for the price. The size of this MOCKTAIL is insane. Two sips of juice for $14. The place is pretty but music inside is a bit loud and hard to hear your conversations.
Loved, loved the terrace and the whole decor in the place - elegant yet understated. If you are a Cub’s fan you have the perfect view. The cocktails were nice, with good mixology. We enjoyed the falafel sliders and the charcuterie board because we were hungry. It was weird, we order a couple of other things but our server came back saying that were not available, getting their food from another place??? Service was mediocre, our server did not have much knowledge about the menu or their availability, and prices are high. I would go back for cocktails on the terrace. Perhaps if they serve High-Tea I will check it out, since I heard good things about the experience.
This is for the Winter Globe experience only. Lovely concept, but note: 1. The smores chocolate bar expired in Feb 2025 (didn’t stop us from eating it), we let the staff know. The take home chocolate bag didn’t have a date on it. 2. Reservations are for up to six, but for a comfortable experience, go with four. They bring a stool in for the sixth with three on the mini couch. 3. You can order food in there, but wouldn’t recommend it as they’re really strict on the time allotment (as informed several times, which we respected) and was rushed. Staff was great. I’d visit the indoor bar restaurant again. Maybe there (or nearby) with four people for dinner and drinks then the globe for dessert.
We rented an igloo Saturday night. The igloo door did not close properly and the space heaters they provided did very little. Our server was attentive and friendly. Food was okay. Hotel chocolate, mulled wine, and homemade smores were very good. We were the last reservation of the day. Our server notified us when our 1.5 hour reservation was over but told us we were welcome to stay as long as we wanted given there was no one after us. Five minutes later the general manager (I assume) very rudely came into our igloo and told us we had to leave given our reservation had ended. We were two late 30s couples and my two year old son having a nice time and planned to order another round of drinks. Why the rude behavior? You lost money - now the igloo sat empty and no more drinks were ordered. We left immediately and won’t return to hotel Zachary. What a bummer end to a nice evening. I very seldomly leave reviews, but the unnecessary rude behavior prompted me to in this case.
This is my favorite place to grab a delicious beverage while letting the crowds disperse after attending a Cubs game. However, last night was just bad. I brought my group of 9, boasting of how wonderful it would be, and I walked out embarrassed for having brought them there. The cocktails were delicious, no doubt about that. While I realize it was a busy time, things could have been handled better by our waitress. She greeted us with a less-than-thrilled attitude upon arrival at our table. The wait to get the cocktails, understandable. But we ordered arancini, and it took our server 25 minutes to tell us it was 86'd, and by then, the kitchen was closed. It took at least 15 minutes for us to get the bill/our credit cards back; I had to flag down another employee to assist with that. When our server came back, she "jokingly" blamed the wait time on us for having 3 separate tabs, which she claims caused the computer to malfunction. I picked up the larger portion of our bill but was not provided an itemized receipt. Since my other two guests DID receive an itemized bill (which I later received after pushing back), I can only assume she wanted to hide from me the fact that 20% gratuity was already added. The cherry on top was that, when we were walking out, we exchanged "thank you's" with the server while she was at another table of about 8 patrons, and she repeated to them the nonsense about us being the cause for her computer breaking (I'm assuming it was her way of trying to save face for offering poor service to that table as well). She shamed us in front of another table of patrons. I have never..
Went for buffet breakfast. Staff and wait service were nice and pleasant; breakfast buffet was not. Spent $26 per person for a buffet of poorly prepared standard dishes like lukewarm scrambled eggs, overly done potatoes, barely done sausage links... well you get the picture. Absolutely no creativity of dishes for your $26. Instead, have a cup of coffee or juice or any type of your favorite morning beverage and use that saved $26 for a good brunch!
The server pulled one on me. We went early and stayed for dinner. When we went, it was happy hour. We ordered a champagne, half off, so we ordered another while we waited for our tent on the balcony. She didnt give me the check for the second bottle until after dinner and charged full price. Also they include 20% gratuity as "open charge" on everything. So watch out. Dubious servers at this place. Cocktails were great, service was slow, hence 2 stars instead of 1. I'd recommend only going to the bar, so you only deal with the bartenders and not the servers.
This review is for the globes/domes on the patio. The domes are festive and comfortable and the service was good. The two stars are because the food menu was disappointing. On the website and when booking you are told that you'll be able to order from the "hotel's dinner menu". This is misleading. The menu was a bar bites menu with a handful of appetizers, two salads a burger, a steak and a dessert. It would be nice if they offered a link to the menu on their website and/or when booking to make this clear. I'd return for a drink but plan on having dinner somewhere else.
We came in for a round of drinks after dinner. Our server was fantastic we closed out for our $125 round of drinks and tipped $25. She then let us know she was going on a quick break and that a server would be around if we needed anything else. As we were waiting outside for our uber, we were approached by a male staff member who accused us of not paying. We than gave him our receipt only to still be disrespected. Please train your staff to have better communication to customers. This incident ruined our night.
3 bartenders couldn't figure out how to put the bulls game on. The bar is in Chicago! Come on! Also, if you like $22 drinks with a brick of ice in it, this is your place. Drinks end up being a shot when you take the 1lb chunk of ice out of it! If you're staying there walk across the street to Murphy's.
Awful service. Bartenders have made an art of avoiding eye contact and trying to look busy. I can't imagine how much revenue they leave on the table by ignoring people who are trying to oder drinks.
Horrible service. We stayed at the hotel and were seated promptly. Jackson came over and took our drink order. I said we wanted to order an appetizer first. He brought the drinks and put them on the table without saying a word. The kitchen brought out the appetizer and it was great. No Jackson. He didn’t ask about a drink refill. Didn’t ask about ordering our main dish. I finally flagged him down and he seemed annoyed. I ordered our main dishes. He never asked about more drinks. The kitchen brought out our mains and they were great. Jackson never asked about dessert and I had to find him so we could finally pay. Don’t think they were exceptionally busy. The place was not full and Jackson spent most of his time standing at the bar talking to the male bartender with a bun hairdo. Jackson obviously didn’t want to work. My interactions with other staff members were great.
We reserved the winter igloos at $75/person but it was completely pointless. Almost all games they had were missing pieces. The Polaroid had only FOUR films. The foods we ordered were puny in serving size than normal appetizers although they were priced so high. It was a very bad experience overall, and none of my friends think it's worth coming back.
Terrible experience, especially for the price. Came with a party of 8 for birthday drinks and appetizers. It was not busy at all, there were as many servers as there were patrons. Had to ask for silverware individually because it was not on the table and food was not served with it. Even asking once for the whole table, only one was brought and this continued multiple times until we finally had our place servings. Food was incredibly overpriced and steak frites were very over cooked. Despite having a full bar, they could not make basic popular cocktails and our table would regularly go twenty minutes between seeing our waitress. They did bring a birthday cupcake but delivered it when half the table, including the birthday guest, was in the restroom. After finally giving us back our credit card and bill our waitress did not even give a simple “thanks for coming in” despite getting an automatic 20% tip. Overall it felt like as soon as they saw more than 6 people we were cast aside because they knew they’d get 20% tip regardless of the service. Again, terrible service on the most basic of things, overpriced food and drinks and unfriendly staff. 2/10 will not recommend which is a shame because it’s a beautiful building and bar but after dining there I’m not surprised it was empty on a Saturday night.
Surprisingly awful. Stayed in the Hotel Zachary and thought this would be a cool place for some food and drinks. Got seated right away, but 10 minutes in and had nobody stop by or even acknowledge us. Asked the hostess if we had a server assigned, and she ended up having to take our order. Another 10 minutes to get our drinks, and another 15 to get the single charcuterie board we ordered. Also somehow they gave us 3 plates (for a table of 3) and just one set of silverware 🙄. Side note, I asked about the scotch and she didn't know, she only knew they had Glenlivet, so I ordered that. Then she came back and said they are out, but they have Glenfiddich. Then I saw the bartender pouring Glenmorangie. Any scotch drinker would know these are three very different whiskys and I actually don't really like the latter, especially for a double neat pour. Big bummer, since it's definitely not short staffed here, and wasn't even half full when we got here. Hotel is cool, but skip the hotel bar if you're here.
