Daisy is by far the most amazing server/host I’ve ever had at this Japanese chain…. The food is always good and chef Nathanial can put on a show! We love taking our staff, friends or family here. Downey is the best location too!

Outstanding service! Even with our reservation, they were kind enough to take us early. The atmosphere inside is inviting for everyone; very tall ceiling opens the rooms up nicely. Service is friendly and proper, while the Chefs are professionals that give you a show to enjoy. Highly recommend the Spicy Chicken Habachi; sauce is perfectly glazed with a nice kick (not too much). Plenty of parking around!!! Location is very accessible from the City locally or off the 105.

The atmosphere was welcoming, and our chef Chris made the experience delightful with his friendly personality and excellent culinary skills. My only concern was the restroom cleanliness, which could be improved, especially for guests with children. Despite this, I would still recommend this restaurant and definitely plan to return.

Chef precious really went above and beyond on our table really made us feel special. As my first time we saw the other chefs and felt a little underwhelmed. But when she came to us she came with the energy and couldn’t have asked for a better server!

We had an amazing experience at Benihana thanks to our Sous Chef- John! He was incredibly entertaining and went above and beyond to engage our whole family, especially my 6-year-old daughter. Through what he called “magic tricks,” he somehow convinced her to happily eat her food, which was a win for me as a mom of a picky eater. His energy, patience, and humor made the meal so enjoyable, and the food itself was absolutely flavorful and delicious. This was such a memorable dining experience, we can’t wait to go back!

We had came here for my brother and I’s birthday. With prior reservations booked, our party was sat with no wait time. Our chef Precious was phenomenal. Her energy was electric while still being professional. Her cooking skills came to fruition with our entrees, it was all so delicious She has definitely made our first experience a memorable one and we can’t wait to go back for the next family celebration.

The star Hibachi Chef Carlos gave a fun show! During dinner, he performed magic with eggs, created a Pacman, Butterfly, and Volcano among other stunts! I came for my girlfriend’s 22nd birthday and i was blown away at the experience that was given. Rene was throwing down the absolute best tasting food i’ve had in a while, all while multitasking telling some funny ahh jokes. Sely made sure my drink was never finished and i can confidently say that this was some of the best service i have received at a restaurant. I had a great experience with Abraham at Benihana's bar in Downey, Ca. He’s incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can tell he genuinely enjoys connecting with people. He knows his cocktails inside and out—every ingredient, every balance, every detail—and it really shows in the quality of the drinks he makes. What stood out the most, though, is how much he cares. He takes the time to listen to what you like, makes thoughtful recommendations, and makes sure everyone at the bar feels comfortable and taken care of. It’s rare to find someone who combines real expertise with such a personable and attentive attitude. If you’re lucky enough to have him make your drinks, you’re in great hands.

The atmosphere was given a four due to slight dirt on the ceiling.. Walking into Benihana, we were immediately greeted with such professionalism and warmth—it truly felt like we were in for something special right from the start. We originally planned on ordering from the Power Lunch menu, but the staff let us know that for just $5 more, we could get the full lunch menu and still enjoy the famous hibachi show. Totally worth it! Before the chef even arrived, we were treated to a tasty onion soup, a crisp salad, and a whole lineup of delicious sauces to try. My wife and kids went for the steak lunch, while I ordered the shrimp lunch along with some spicy tuna rolls. Every single dish was cooked perfectly and packed with amazing flavor. Our waitress, Vanessa, was absolutely fantastic. She kept checking in on us, offered multiple drink refills, and made sure we were happy every step of the way. The level of service was just top-notch. One of the biggest highlights was Chef Precious. She came out to introduce herself, put on gloves for cleanliness, and then put on an incredible cooking show right at our table. She was fun, engaging, and super skilled. I really appreciated how she took extra care with our dietary needs—she cooked my meal separately to respect my Presbyterian diet and kept the scallops away from my daughter’s food due to her allergies. Everything tasted fantastic, and the whole experience was fun and memorable for the entire family. Between the great food, the entertaining show, and the excellent service, Benihana definitely deserves five stars. We’ll absolutely be back!

Christopher G was our chef forgot our waiters name but they were both awesome. Felt like the wait was a bit long to get the food out. Food was perfectly done. I don't even like mushrooms but they were really good how he seasoned them. He also spilled all the tea and it was just a less cringy experience. Felt more like a chef creating an awesome meal for adults. The strawberry lemonade was a perfect match to the salty mushroom soup. It's a bit loud so for sensitive people, def bring earplugs to cut the noise. I've had mixed feelings about this place. Take out isn't great in my opinion, at all. A woman at my table order her to go items to be cooked at the table bc the standard isn't the same when it's cooked in the back. And I do no disagree. Dine in only for this place. But snack ahead of time: We didn't get our food for an hour+ after we were seated.

This is a first on the steak in particular I tasted a little freezer burn. I did not say anything about it as it took a 30 mins for a cook to get to our table we had a 4:15pm reservation and it was about an hour in before he came out I'm sure they where hoping to fill the table and they finally did get 3 more people the table was almost full minus 1. Our server Marisa was very attentive and tried to make us more comfortable by letting all of us know when we could expect the chef and if we needed anything else in the meantime. She explained the specials and helped us with the donation for breast cancer 🎀 Awareness month. She did a wonderful job.

The wait was a little long, but absolutely worth it. The food was fantastic—huge kudos to Chef Carter. Cesar provided spot-on service and made the experience even better.

She was very rude and came at us out of nowhere over something her staff did. Chef Precious is awesome and so good at what she does. I’m so amazed at how she didn’t overcook anything. I’ve never before had Benihana food taste so good before. We’ve been to Benihana many times and it’s usually we go because the kids like watching the “show”, but this time, not only did we enjoy the show from Chef Precious, we also enjoyed our food. Not overcooked, tons of flavor and she was able to convince the other party to have their steak medium well instead of the nasty well done the customer wanted. For real, Chef Precious needs a raise or something because she changed my “eh” feeling of Benihana to “ooooh yum!!”

It's great when you have a group of 8. It's perfect to take up an entire table to yourselves without another party joining. I took my executive bosses here for our holiday dinner and it was interesting. SERVICE - Kinda the star off for this location. When getting there early enough to check-in for my reservation, there was no one manning the front and took a while for them to acknowledge me trying to get someone's attention. And as great as our chef was, it seemed like it was his first or second time doing this out of training because he seemed nervous. That's not docking points off their service, just wanted to let people know it can happen. FOOD - Food was good, despite watching the chef douse EVERYTHING in the same garlic better (from all the proteins, to vegetables, to fried rice). So it may seem they all have the same flavor. AMBIANCE - it really depends on your table and your chef. Ours was okay and we had a long day at work so it took a lot for my bosses to get going. But the table next to us had a super enthusiastic chef that was very engaging, so not sure if that would've livened up our table. I think chefs feed off the energy of their table. I'd come back though!

Service was slow, we had reservations for 5pm, our Chef didn't show until after 6pm. I was very annoyed for the poor scheduling. We tried to make the best of it, our Server was very attentive throughout our waiting time. Overall the food was just ok. The experience is why we chose to Dine here, it's a bummer because that's where they failed! 😕

Reservation for 3 didn't get seated until 4:06 pm. Unacceptable! We finally got a nice lady come over and offer is free sodas and appetizers while we continued to wait. What saved this trip was our chef Hector. He was awesome! The food was good and we ended up enjoying ourselves after all.

We’ve have been Coming to Benihana’s for many years, We have celebrated many anniversaries here, Yesterday being our 27th Wedding anniversary we decided on Benihana’s. We know it’s always busy, But yesterday we waited almost 1 hour for our chef to come to us, not only that his presentation wasn’t very clean, He did do a Spatula and Knife show on the grill after that NOTHING. He asked if we were celebrating anything, The young men sitting next to us saying He was getting married, Us our wedding anniversary, I don’t know what happened after that, but this chef went COLD, He didn’t look up or at all, we didn’t get a show like we were seeing everyone all around us get. NOTHING but our food, he did excuse himself to go either to the bathroom he came back 5 minutes later. I’ve have never had this type of service at any of their franchise restaurant. Very disappointed. The food was good, but we sat there wondering what happened to the egg, the rice the onion show. This will be our last Benihana’s visit. It wasn’t a great one.

We arrived and only had to wait 15 minutes before we got sat. We were like that's awesome I can't waiti to eat. The server was really nice , he was able to tell us a few favorites and what people like to order most. The soup and salad was very tasty, but after getting the salad we almost waited a little over 30 minutes fir the chef to arrive and start cooking. We ordered the salmon and shrimp yakisoba. If you you don't mind for your entire meal to taste the same this is the place to eat. If you do mind like myself you will not be satisfied. The Chef was cool and answered all my questions without hesitation. The 5 course meal is what we had. Overall it was not what I expected and I will not be going back. It was just 2 of us and the bill was 108.00. When they brought me the check they gave me the wrong check. The cool thing was the people sitting with us were nice and we were able to figure out what check belonged to everyone. 3 out of 5 stars for overall experience.

First of all shout out to benihana corp. They gave me 50$ certificate for my birthday and 30$ for my husband. The Cook was awesome the server/s were very nice. Place was dirty for my experience and expectations and the food was so so so salty that we didn't enjoyed it. I mean All of the food was overly flavored and to pay 150$ not cool. Of course you don't want to say that because everyone was so nice and stuff. I over all experience was nice but because of the salty food i wouldn't come back even if they give it to me free. I rather eat a hamburger next time.

Food was delicious. Service was good. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was bad. The host asked us to wait outside instead of inside until our party arrived. The food being cooked had more personality than the person cooking it. All of the vents and lights hanging from the ceiling are covered in thick layers of grime and dust. One side of the table couldn't hear the other speak. Thankfully, everyone in our party liked their meal. Our drinks were always refilled, except for the green tea that was supposed to come with our orders didn't appear until we asked for it at the end. The serving staff was very courteous.

The atmosphere is a little loud but the food is always good. Service is as good as you can expect from a place this packed.

Took 15 minutes just to get our drinks and another 15 for our soup/salad to come out. Chef was cool but trailed in 10 minutes later. Didn't even get our calamari appetizer til the food was almost all cooked AND it was BURNT. Had to wait another 10 minutes for water refill after asking. What a joke this location is. Stick to other teppanyaki spots cuz this place sucks ahh. Wasn't even crazy busy, just very mismanaged there

What is the purpose of making a reservation if you're going to have to wait another 2 hours to be seated? It is incredibly ridiculous and honestly, rude. Saved up money for this, a special night for us and now I'm sitting in my car waiting. Bad on you Benihana.

Went to this location instead of our usual because it’s closer to almost everyone in our group. The first time we were there was a couple years ago and the service terrible so we didn’t go back. Today we felt like giving them a second chance and again the service was subpar. The place was redone and looks very nice however it feels like the staff if all new and don’t really know what they’re doing. They spilled water on my friend, then they spilled sauce on the same friend, they don’t bring utensils until they were requested, they don’t bring the salad that comes with the meals until that was requested, they didn’t provide the chef the little bowls for the sauces so we didn’t get the sauces until the chef finished preparing out entire meal and went to get them himself. Overall it was a pretty bad experience, it may be because we’re a pretty large party (8 people) but our party had been larger and we never have these kinds of issues at the location in City of Industry.

Beyond disappointed with the turnout on this meal. I am a sucker for Japanese food and teppanyaki. Came out for a light meal with my wife, so we decided to share a combination plate and get some sushi. The size of the combination steak and shrimp was egregious. The steak was thin and overcooked, no more than 6ozs of chewy steak, and there were barely any vegetables. Service was terrible. The combination dish was listed as a “5/6 course meal”. We had to ask for multiple items that were listed as “included” with the combination plate. Server asked if we wanted fried rice instead of white rice with the combination plate, I asked for fried rice. He asked if we wanted to add any meat and I said why not, let’s try the wagyu steak to add. They charged us for a whole order of wagyu rice instead of an up charge that would make sense. I regularly order to-go meals from Henami in Norwalk. ALWAYS steak and shrimp combos. I will pay $60 just for a meal for myself every time I go there and I officially will never regret it again because the portions and food quality speak for themselves. My only regret is not getting photos so I could give a better side by side comparison.

I made a reservation here for my son's 7th birthday celebration. We arrived on time, but the host informed us that they were running 40 minutes behind schedule. One hour passed, and we were still waiting outside with no definitive wait time to sit down. The host's lack of communication and consideration for our party's needs was appalling. The children were getting more and more upset, and my son finally broke down in tears, saying "Mommy, this is embarrassing." At that point, we had no choice but to leave. I've never experienced such a lack of service and courtesy at a restaurant. A birthday dinner is supposed to be a special occasion, not a frustrating and disappointing experience. The restaurant's inability to manage their schedule and communicate with their guests was inexcusable. Unfortunately, my son's birthday dinner was ruined, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. They clearly need to work on their service and management skills to provide a better experience for their customers, especially on special occasions like birthdays. Tips for the restaurant: Improve communication with guests about wait times and schedule delays. Provide a warm and welcoming space for guests to wait, especially on cold nights. Train staff to be more empathetic and considerate of families with young children and special occasions.

Our reservation was at 7:00 pm. Had to wait a 1 hour and a half just for the cook to start preparing our food. Ended up eating at 9:30 pm. Unbelievable wait. I had to constantly ask a waiter where our chef was. Would not recommend.👎

MIND YIU THIS WAS ON A TUESDAY NIGHT I was very unsatisfied with the service at this location. I made a reservation for my three-year-old to celebrate her birthday. I thought it would be great to celebrate with a show. I called prior to see if I’m able to take a cake. They let me know that it was fine. I arrived to the reservation. They take my cake. They let me know that they will bring it out towards the end. We were really excited for to celebrate my daughter‘s birthday. The evening was going well. Once the chef got to the table didn’t really have no reaction didn’t say hello. Once the show started he started spinning. The spatula of the spatula hit straight to my three-year-old splash all the soup all over her and I the manager came he stated that they will cover for our dinner I said that’s fine. He later came back asked me to write down a description of what happened. Then he stated that he will only be giving us a 50% off of our meal and gave us a $20 discount on an appetizer. I’was I was very shocked. I didn’t know how to react to everything that was going on my daughter was crying. I honestly thought they were going to cover the dinner as they stated but they just gave me a discount card and a discount and on top of that, they never brought the cake. I also had orders of white rice and they brought it at the end of my meal when I already had finished it so honestly, it was a very horrible experience. I expected more from this restaurant, but I guess not.
