Recensioni di Pie 'n Burger Pasadena
Great food. Great pie. Had a slice of chocolate meringue to go. I was too full from the pork chops breakfast
Classic place, delicious diner style burgers, and the pies are amazing. Recommend the boysenberry! Cash or check fyi.
Great place for burgers. Not exactly affordable. But still loved their pecan pie.
Great burgers, awesome shakes and the pies - especially pecan pie - will blow you away. Like stepping into an old movie set - the way diners were supposed to be. Continuous operation for what - something like 50 years! Always friendly staff
Old school fast food joint in Pasadena, serving burgers, sandwiches, pies and the like. The menu is basic but the service is always quick and friendly. Don't come here for a healthy meal but for a taste of Americana! There aren't a ton of veggie (even less vegan) options but the veggie burger is made fresh and actually tastes nice and moist with real broccoli and carrots. Note they only take checks and cash but there is an ATM in the restaurant (it will charge you $2.50 though!)
This place is a hidden gem!! It has an old school, cafe/diner atmosphere. The food was delicious, especially the pies!! Excellent choice for lunch!!
I'm from Texas and I've eaten at Pie n burger since I was studying in California in the 90's. Everytime I visit Pasadena, I go eat there and their food/service never disappoints. The only downfall is that you have to pay in cash, they don't take cards. They do have an ATM machine inside to get money. Great experience and delicious food. 😊😜👍
Do you long for an old fashioned, homey little place that serves up THE BEST cheeseburgers, fries, potato salad, malts and fountain sodas, where they still mix the syrup with the soda water? Well, this is the place! Seriously good, wholesome food served up by sassy waitresses that have been there "too long to remember and too old to care!" Everything on the limited menu is fantastic and has been perfected over the years. Try a piece of the strawberry pie; Bobs big boy tried to copy it, but failed. Many napkins provided...you're gonna need them. Next stop, Willoughby!
What! This place us famous for it's pies and burgers. The should add "shake" to the title, they are equally delicious! Went here with some friends 🧡. I'm so angry with myself for not taking a picture! The staff is really sweet. Move over fast food burgers, these are home cooked, delicious, with a side of great service!
This Burger institution is almost 100 years old. Can you believe it? I still don’t believe it. And I may never actually fully believe it. That said they just got a new deep fryer so they are able to make onion rings now (they weren’t able to before) that were cooked to golden perfection! Me and my buddy got one iced tea, one cheeseburger and one side and we both walked out of there spending the very very low price of $30 each. That’s right folks you read that correctly, 30 smackeroos. 30 clams. But don’t worry they have an ATM on site that charges you three dollars to pull out money so you’re in luck! The Burger was exactly what you’d want from a place like this crispy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside, thin, about 1/8 a lb of meat, all the normal fixings I really loved it. And by, the noises, my buddy was making it as he chewed it. I could tell he really loved it too. I still haven’t tried the chili but I’ll be sure to and update my review at that time. Do yourself a flavor, and go here!
The best greasy place west of Mississippi! Food is decent, but the counter is amazing! This type of counter space and the dining service is lost to the modern comforts. Hard wood stools and scratched up counter top are real. The servers actually talk with you about the food. The cash register is what my grammps had at his little corner store back in the days. Amazing! This place is stuck in time. My biggest favorite by far was the handsink faucet valve that you have to use your knees to press in!! It can't get better than that!
A Pasadena institution that serves a diner-esque burgers similar to In-n-out with the added menu item of pie. The prices are a bit steep. One cheeseburger combo with water and a slice of pie came out to $35 with tip. We only got to try the peach pie because they were out of almost all the other flavors, but you can tell the recipe had not changed probably since it was founded.
Been wanting to try this place for some time. Finally got here today. Definitely like stepping back to the '60s, including the paneled walls and the mechanical push button cas register. Speaking of, it is cash only here, but there is an ATM by the door. I ordered the burger combo with Onion Rings. I asked for grilled onions on the burger. My wife ordered the chili cheese fries. The first bite revealed how fresh and tasty this burger is! I confirmed that there beef is fresh and not frozen. The chili cheese fries were good and the scratch made chili was excellent. For dessert we shared a blueberry pie with a lot of freshly whipped cream. It was soooo good. The server was nice and helpful. Overall I was impressed with the quality of the food here. Ill be back to try their sandwiches next time.
My visit to this small restaurant was great. To sit at a counter with wooden seats is charming. The menu isn't extensive, but there are some good choices. I ordered the burger combo. It was tasty and juicy. The fries were hot and crunchy. I did as some salt. I had an ice cream float that was pure nostalgia. I was too full to order any pie, but they looked yummy.
One of the best cheeseburgers I’ve had in my life. The pie was also fantastic, we had a slice of meringue banana. The fries were whatever. The restaurant is beautiful with lots of original machines. We’ll definitely come back when we visit Pasadena again. Thanks for a great meal with great service!
This place has been around for many years and still keeps that old school vibe. In my opinion 1 of the best burgers in LA. Still serving coke with syrup and soda water. Fantastic pies. A must try
Pie n burger, a classic in the city that invented cheeseburgers. Burgers trends and chains come and go, but PNB persists due to its quality and timelessness. I mean, where else can you get sodas made the old fashioned and might I add, the correct way. Just come and enjoy their 🍔 and don't forget to try their pies as well.
Old fashioned style everything. Burgers 🍔 are ridiculously good I ordered a cheese burger no vegetables I should of ordered double patty 🤌🏻 it's a done deal my people. Cheesecake smooth creamy sweetness not overwhelming. Boysenberry was warm when we tried it Good stuff. This became a must stop when traveling through here.
Came here around 7 pm on a weekend. The restaurant ha a little diner feel to it. I ordered a Burger and Cherry Shake. My friend got a slice of cheesecake and that was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had. I would 10000% get a whole cheesecake next time, I also want to try one of the pies, maybe a slice of boysenberry of something like that. Burger was great but cheesecake was even better, would definitely return.
A true Pasadena classic opened in 1963 at current location. I can't believe Huell Howser missed this place (or did he do an episode here?). Vintage burger and soda fountain joint. Shakes and pies. Small, but they seem to get everyone served. Cash only, so put your digital wallets away. There is an ATM.
Let me start by saying that the staff here is very friendly. From the cooks to the waitresses, you can tell everyone here enjoys their job and it shows in the quality of the food and the service. I came here and ordered the Chicken pot pie in the beginning of the year. It was delicious, great texture with the chicken and veggies and the crust was nice and crispy. Today I came in to watch the LA Rams vs 49ers for a bit and ordered a burger and fries. The burger was excellent and served with fresh tomatoes and lettuce. Fries were perfectly cooked also. It is cash only but they have an ATM inside.
The absolute best burger anywhere E of the 110 freeway! I get a Cheeseburger no lettuce no pickle and no tomato add a fried egg and grilled onion! Try it this way and thank the heavens you saw this review! Also the apple, and banana cream pie are my go to A la mode of course. Strawberry shake is my sons favorite (big enough for 2) and onion rings! cash only joint so stop by your bank first!
First time coming to this place. Was told it was a must go so don't know how it eluded me. Been around a long time right next to the California Institute of Technology. Has booths to sit down in as well as tables. The menu changes during the day so make sure you get there early enough if you want breakfast, or consequently late enough for dinner. I went at lunch and got the tri tip sandwich 🥪. Was absolutely delicious, got the fruit bowl as well, which is also large and full of pineapples 🍍, strawberries 🍓, grapes 🍇, etc. And ended it having Pumpkin 🎃 Pie topped with their homemade whipped cream. Tasted like my grandma use to make back in the day. Staff was fun and engaging as well. Will be going back and recommend for anyone. Didn't get photos of the food this time, which is odd for me.
This place is so good! This is such a cool diner...I believe it's been around since the 1960's. I ordered a burger and chili cheese fries. The chili cheese fries are the best I've ever had, and I've had a lot in my life 😆 The burger was pretty amazing as well. I took a slice of pie to go, lemon meringue. I should have bought the whole pie. The customer service was great, and the price was decent for the quality. I would make another hour drive to come back here.
Fun atmosphere! Classic diner, with quick and friendly waitstaff! Incredibly delicious pie! The macaroni salad is one of the best I've ever had! The burgers were definitely delicious and fresh, but the pie and macaroni salad really stood out as incredible. Fresh vegetables on the burgers, so I bet the salads here aren't bad, either!
Old fashion nostalgia.... Journey back in time and experience the old fashioned ambiance down to the cash register and cool neon sign. Staff was very friendly. Ordered the cheese burger combo and vanilla milk shake. The cheese burger here was kind of like the one you get at In and Out Burger. However, the meat on this burger was tastier and had more lettuce and sauce.
The Platonic ideal of a burger. I've seen people complain about the price compared to In-N-Out, but in the words of the great hamburger scholar George Motz, this is like an elevated version of that. The pies are great, too, especially the boysenberry which I tried on the recommendation of the waitress, shout out for their friendly service as well 👍🏼 Cash only
Pie ‘n Burger is a spot I’ve been wanting to try for ages. It’s on some lists for classic burger spots across America. So, naturally, while I was passing through, I had to stop in to try it. Word of warning: They are cash only, and if you want to try a spread of things, you will likely need to hit an ATM beforehand. This place definitely feels nostalgic. A classic burger restaurant through and through. The staff is a bit informal, but nice. The food is at a very high bar, even if the restaurant itself might not be the shiniest new thing on the block. I highly recommend getting a malt, a burger, and a slice of pie. You can’t go wrong with that combo. I know I left thoroughly satisfied with the meal.
The food is delicious and the staff is friendly. The fries are great for anyone who loves crispy fries. The banana meringue pie was the highlight of our meal; the filling was absolute perfection and the meringue was fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. I would definitely recommend going here if you’re in the area.
❤️tuna grilled sandwich, salad with blue cheese dressing great seasoning, turkey hamburger with cheese is awesome!Lemon pie, boysenberry pie à la mode are adorable and tasty . I was deeply impressed by the burgers, chocolate milkshakes and pies, and it became the main goal of my visit to LA this time,I finally had them so happy today!
This classic counter service Pasadena diner has been churning out fresh burgers and baked pies for over 60 years! I had the tuna melt with fries and it was delicious. Also their apple pie and carrot cake was fantastic as well. I received great service from all the staff and there is limited street parking outside.
We lived in Pasadena in the 80s, and when my wife was pregnant with our younger daughter, Pie ’n Burger became her holy trinity: a burger, onion rings, and a slice of peanut butter pie. After disappearing for a few decades (me, not the diner), I finally went back for lunch and ordered the exact same thing. I’m happy to report that absolutely nothing has changed—the food is still delicious, the counter service is still fast and friendly, and the interior is still stubbornly, gloriously old school. Hooray for nostalgia on a plate! Ps. I continued the practice of going through all my napkins and asking for more.
Pie ’n Burger absolutely lives up to the hype. The burgers are hands-down some of the best in the city—classic, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The old-school diner vibe makes the whole experience even better, and the handmade pies are a must. Huge shoutout to our waiter, who was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. He took his time breaking down the entire menu, answered all our questions, and gave spot-on recommendations. You could tell he genuinely cared about us having a great experience, which made the meal even more enjoyable. The only downside is that it’s cash only—but they do have an ATM inside, so it’s not a deal breaker at all. Overall, amazing food, excellent service, and a true Pasadena gem. Will definitely be back. 🍔🥧
What you would expect from an old school diner. Great atmosphere and staff was very friendly too. The pie was better than the burgers. It’s not to say burgers are bad, just nothing special. However, pie was good, just wish they made cream not just meringue pies. But would definitely say check it out and would go again. BUT CASH ONLY make sure before you go or will have to find the atm machine.
We were told this is the place to visit while in Pasadena. A classic, old-school diner with Formica countertops and a nostalgic feel. The cheeseburger is excellent, the strawberry shake is rich and delicious, and the blueberry pie is a must. Cash-only and timeless — exactly how a place like this should be.
We stopped in for pie and burger, and everything was excellent. The burger was great. You can tell they use quality ingredients. They even have an off-menu protein style burger, which was a nice surprise. My husband had the apple pie and said it was fantastic. The atmosphere has that classic diner feel, almost like stepping back into the ’60s. Friendly service, great food, and a fun experience overall. We’d definitely come back.
Had to try this spot since I have heard it is one of the best. I had a classic cheese burger with chili cheese fries and a slice of butterscotch merengue. The fries were very hot and crispy. The chili wasn't my favorite but nothing compares to Tommy burger chili fries in my book. The burger was pretty good but overall just above average. The service was very friendly and I would go back to try some of the other pies. The butterscotch merengue was decent but inreally want to try the peanut butter merengue.
Came here on a dead Monday afternoon around 2 pm. Was so lovely to sit at the counter at a fairly vacant very old school diner. Someone playing the Star Wars soundtrack in the background - ha. Ambience 10/10 if you’re into that. Service impeccable - it came with a lovely smile and attention. The burger was one of the best I’ve had - got it with a side salad and ranch. Really couldn’t get better than that on a day where you need protein and crunch. Can’t believe it took me this long to find this place. Definitely support this business if you’re in the area!
I had a delicious cheeseburger and split a slice of boysenberry pie a la mode with my wife. We got a slice of blackberry pie and a slice of coconut creme pie to go for her parents. The best burger and pie Ever!!! This place isn't cheap, but that is the cost of great service, a cool vibe, and a quality meal.
First time here and it will definitely not be the last. Burgers are made fresh daily never frozen. Such amazing pies from seasonal to daily. They still make their sodas classi dinner style. Berlin our server was a blessing in disguise from providing such great service to a down to earth experience.
Nothing but quality throughout this whole menu. I ordered a simple double cheeseburger and it was absolutely packed with flavor from the fresh ground beef to the creamy thousand island. I heard it once, but I’ll say it here. This burger is the high quality version of an In N Out double-double. Totally love both of them, but this is a nice treat to enjoy once in a while. Also the fries are perfectly cooked. I tried the Dutch apple pie for the first time and absolutely fell in love. I can’t get over how good the fresh whipped cream was. I had to make sure every bite had a huge dollop on there. Can’t recommend this Pasadena staple enough. Will definitely be back!
Would you drive two hours for a cheeseburger? We did and there ain’t no regrets. This place rocks, perfect onion rings, Big Ben with cheese, French fries, hashbrowns and service was the best. Make sure you get the homemade whipped cream with your pies it’s well worth the $3 surcharge.
Visiting Pasadena for a few days, stopped in here after searching the internet and read other reviews. Really good burgers, and the shake was good, too, it was really thick just the way I like them. Son had pie, and he said was very good. Might stop back in before leaving town to try the pie myself.
I mean i loved it! The cheescake is phenomenal, ive never tasted anything like it. Burger was great same with pot pie
So, just to start I drove an hour just to have a burger from this place. I must say, it was definitely worth the drive! The only reason why I am not giving it a five-star is because I feel the fries should be seasoned and not served with plain salt. Other than that, they're Burger is definitely one of the best burgers that I have had in my almost 40 years. I had a double cheeseburger and the beef was cooked perfectly. Secret Sauce was amazing buns were great but I keep going back to the beef, amazing! Definitely will be stopping by next time I am in the area. By the way, this place has been around since the mid-1950s! Way to go guys!
Take a trip in the way-back machine and visit Pie 'n Burger. It's been a long while since I've visited, but just like before great burgers. Juicy patty, perfectly with melty cheese on a toasted bun and crunchy lettuce stacked just right (comes with pickles which I excluded). Burger has just the right amount sauce and all the flavors fit together just right. The fries were hot, but not that crispy, so just ok on those. $3.75 for a very small soda (maybe 10 ounces!) was an eyebrow lifter. All beverages are pricey. Pie slices at around $8.00 are also expensive compared to other diner style restaurants, which are around $6.00 -$7.00 but worth the occasional splurge. They have a nice breakfast menu. Small parking lot and street packing available.
This Pasadena staple started slinging burgers and pies in 1963. The burger was fantastic - as was the Pecan Pie (the best I’ve ever had). The fries were just OK, and the service was a tad slower than I’d expect. Otherwise, it would’ve been a 5 star establishment. Worth a stop if you ever find yourself in Pasadena. 🍔🤩
Always good, always expensive. Burger, apple pie a la mode, slice of cake and decaf coffee -- $40 But it is tasty, the burger is not worth the money but the pie certainly is, and something of a deal at seven-odd bucks. Cake slice also excellent. The cakes , the whole cakes, look like a great deal @$65 because they are huge and tasty
Burgers fries and chocolate shake with excellent really good didn't get a chance to try the pie maybe next time Old style atmosphere is okay It was enjoyable service was excellent I will go back I recommend this place.
What a Gem. Local Diner in the heart of Pasadena. Just like the name, Pies and Burgers are the main attractions. Homemade pies and cakes are the bomb. We had the Hamburger combo, burgers with all the fixings and a side of your choice. They have many choices on pies and served with a generous serving of vanilla ice cream or homemade whipped cream. We ahead the strawberry pie with whipped cream. Not overly sweet on both and the crust was crispy and fluffy. Sit at the counter which runs along the entire restaurant or few tables along the walls. Services were excellent and very attentive.
CASH ONLY!!!! An ATM is inside because many aren’t often aware of this. It’s hard to rate this place because I had very different experiences. The first time I tried it, my friend ordered food to go and we ate it at home. They had a parking lot but now the owner recently sold it. So you will have to find street parking. We ordered burgers and strawberry pie. The burgers were average and the fries were disappointing (mushy). The strawberry pie was really grainy like and not good. Super disappointing!! The second time I came here with my husband and we came for dessert around 7:30pmish on a weekend night. We were able to get seated right away and didn’t have to wait too long to order. I went to use the bathroom and it was filthy on the ground on the way there (food all over and looked like it had not been swept in awhile). I pulled out a toilet seat cover and a fly literally flew out at me! I was disgusted but there was at least plenty of toilet seat covers and toilet paper. My husband ordered cherry pie a la mode and i ordered dutch apple pie a la mode. The apple was better than the cherry and it was fantastic!! Service was good too. The lady was nice. So, i guess it depends when you come because the experience is so different! They use the original cash register which is very unique!
Been hearing a lot about this place, and finally got a chance to try it out. Walking in you feel like you are back in time. A really old school diner feel and you are happily welcomed in. This place is cash only so come prepared, there's an ATM inside if you need it. Getting to the food, the burgers are good. They taste just like an In and Out burger, just meatier. I got a regular cheeseburger with grilled onions and it was really good. The only thing I would complain about is the lettuce. They put a lot of it, and it kinda makes it hard to bite the burger. Fries are nothing special, typical diner fries, but at least better than In and Out. The burger is pricey though. 18 dollars for the combo, not including drink. But I get it, you are paying for the vibes here. For dessert we got an apple pie with ice cream. That was really the highlight of the meal. The ice cream was delicious with the warmth of the pie. All in all I would recommend coming here if you want to come to an old school diner. But if you are craving a burger, save money and go to In and Out.
Pie 'n Burger was overall a great experience, the Big Ben burger was extremely juicy and flavorful and surprisingly big, the fries were great, and the pies were incredible they give you a very hefty serving of ice cream when ordered ala mode. Service was fast and the staff was extremely friendly, just don't expect this place to be a cheap bite. Although the servings were large the pricing can be a bit steep and add up very quickly. Great for special occasions and dates as the atmosphere absolutely can make up for it!
Cash only. Delicious burgers, sodas are made by the waiting staff mixing the syrups so that’s interesting and you wouldn’t be able to tell, if you have a “pickier” person among your party be prepared for the eye roll and obvious expression from the waiting staff and at times the cook-they have no shame even when you’re sitting at the counter across from them. Service is hit and miss so that’s why the star rating is lower.
The good and the bad. The bad 1st only cage but they have an atm. They will run out of some flavor pies ask ahead and they will save your slice. Small counter seating and a few tables. The good, Came here for the burger and pie. Will come back for old school sodas and ice cream. Got the Big Ben a double meat cheese burger and fries, my girl got the chilli, all the food was good and the service was good as well. Check em out I did.
To keep it simple, they do pies and burgers that taste absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend this place for anybody looking for the good old American comfort food classics in the Pasadena area. Pricing is a bit higher than other similar establishments but more than makes up for it with the generous portions. The atmosphere still looks unchanged from when they first opened in the 1970s. Be sure to bring cash if you want to avoid the ATM fee in the diner as they do not take card.
The food was amazing. To say I would travel all the way from Mexico again to eat a burger and fries at Pie 'n Burger wouldn’t be a lie. The boysenberry pie, the apple pie, the peach pie, the vanilla ice cream, the homemade cream, the freshly whipped coke from syrup, it’s all there. And that amazing small town dinner feeling was just the cherry on top. I had an amazing afternoon there and it was worth the trip to Pasadena. I will definitely go again. My only feedback is on the service. Naturally, the place is swamped so we had to wait a bit and eventually just sat by ourselves as we saw others do. It was also a bit difficult to have our order taken. Nonetheless, I’d still go and fight to get a burger and a slice of pie any day.
Opened in 1963 Pie ‘n Burger is a classic American diner that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a giant counter that you can sit at or they also have tables in the back. Many orders are taken to go, but I think dining in really gives it the full experience. The Positives: the staff is very friendly and helpful and reminded me of the sort of diners you would see on TV from many years back. The food taste is also really good, my burger was delicious and so was the side of chili cheese fries. The portion sizes are also very healthy. In terms of quantity you get a lot of food. It’s not the sort of place that you will leave hungry. For our order we chose the homemade Macaroni Salad, which was very good, the BLT, and the Big Ben Burger, which is a double cheeseburger stuffed with toppings. We also ordered the Chili Cheese Fries and a slice of Cherry Pie. The Negatives: it is cash only. They do have an ATM on the inside but given that many people don’t carry as much cash nowadays that’s something to prepare for. Also, some of the prices are a bit expensive. My burger was $23 which is pretty expensive compared to a lot of other places around Los Angeles, I mean a double double from In N Out is less than $5. Also, there’s no dedicated parking so it will be street parking only. Overall a fun experience with really good food but due to the prices I am not sure that I will be back. It’s the sort of place that has many regulars so they are doing something right, although being that I don’t live in Pasadena and am in West LA, I am not sure I would make the hike up for another dinner.
I got a cheeseburger with fries. It was $18 and change. Not a lot of fries and the burger wasn't too big or anything. No drink, which would have made the price a little more worth it but no alas. The burger was really standard, nothing to write home about. The cheese had a weird aftertaste and the patty was a little pink (which I don't like but that's my preference.) The pickles were good though. My main gripe was with the fries. They were a great texture but not seasoned at all!! No salt, nothing. Really bland. I had to use a lot of ketchup. The service was good, the blonde lady that took my order was friendly and quick on her feet. The atmosphere was pleasant and you can feel transported to the past with the energy in there. Real old school. I wish I could have tried more but it was cash only and I only had a $20 bill on me. They did have an ATM but those usually charge quite a bit so I passed on that. I'd go again to try the other items on the menu.
Old school diner with mostly counter seating. Classic California burger with thousand island sauce, iceberg lettuce, pickle and tomato & onion if you want. My burger was ok - it was dripping in sauce. The fries were excellent. Malts and shakes are available along with beer and wine. We spent $27 on two burgers and a beer.
I don't like posting negative reviews when expectations aren't met. This place was average, not great. They are hand formed hamburger patties cooked on a griddle. They're not seasoned well and are expensive for what they are, in my opinion. An a la carte burger with cheese will run you $13.50. If you'd like a piece of pie...$7.50 or a ice cream shake...$9. I was really hoping it was very tasty, but my $18 burger and fries were very average. I've had much better for less. The atmosphere was quaint, mostly counter seating. The staff were not particularly friendly and parking, while free, is very limited. You can skip this and really not miss much, unfortunately.
Fantastic burger, but not much else. The burger was tasty and messy - a great sign. The bun was nice and crispy. We also go the strawberry cake, which was dry and didn't impress us. We asked for it to be warmed up, but that didn't do much. I also had a vanilla milkshake, which didn't taste great. I wish they had more creative flavors of milkshake and added whipped cream on top.
good, nothing mind-blowing though. a burger + fries combo will run you $18(!!); you could get the same quality food at in-n-out for half the price. i would probably only return for the pies, which were quite tasty (i tried the strawberry and blueberry slices). otherwise i found this place to be overhyped
It's s really good burger. But it's ridiculously priced now. A cheeseburger with fries and a coke with tsc and tip is now over $30 . INSANE. It's not that much better than In-N-out at less than $10.
Fun atmosphere. The burger is fine, nothing particularly special. Fries too. The oldie concept of burgers and pie is nice. But only 3 stars because they are woefully behind in offering gluten free options (no bun and no pie) and they still use the money laundering approach of cash only. For a burger that doesn’t taste any better than In n Out, charging $18 seems ludicrous.
I finally tried Pie-N-Burger and had mixed feelings. I ordered the cheeseburger combo, added fries, and shared a side of onion rings. The burger itself was phenomenal—juicy, flavorful, and the grilled onions were a great touch. Unfortunately, the fries were bland and could’ve used more salt, and the onion rings were just okay—nothing memorable. We visited on a Saturday around 1 PM with a group of seven (including three young kids) and had to wait nearly 45 minutes for a table. Despite waiting, they weren’t able to seat us together, and we ended up eating at separate tables, which was disappointing. The restaurant has very limited table seating—mostly bar stools—so it’s not the most kid-friendly setup. Other downsides: very limited parking (maybe 15 spaces total) and it’s cash only, which caught a lot of people off guard. They do have an in-house ATM, but it’s still not ideal. We didn’t try the pie, but it looked good. The burger alone makes it worth trying once, but overall, between the long wait, seating issues, and cash-only policy, this place was a one-time visit for our family.
Good Burger But not for $20 that didn't even include a Drink. First and last time I go. At least I could say I tried it Save your Money go to in n- out Burger or Lucky Boy in Pasadena
I honestly don’t understand the hype from food influencers about this place. The food was pretty subpar. I ordered the chili cheese fries, but the chili tasted like it came straight from a can, and the cheese was just processed cheese sauce, not real, fresh cheese. The most disappointing part, though, was the pie. I ordered the custard pie, and when it arrived, it honestly looked old. The texture was like cold scrambled eggs with absolutely no flavor. It was closer to a soggy quiche. I’m not even sure why it was wet. Very bizarre, and easily one of the worst pies I’ve had in a long time. To be fair, the service was good. But the food itself is overpriced for how bland and mediocre it is. You’re really paying more for the old-timey vibe than the quality of the food.
The burger was just ok. The pie was good. Unfortunately, the customer service was horrible. The women at the window was so rude. She got the order wrong, no big deal. Instead of correcting the mistake, she wanted to argue and play the blame game. She went from nice to nasty in no time. My boss brought in the truck for a work event. He witnessed the incident and he said I handled it well and she was out of line. So unnecessary. Just correct the mistake next time.
Burgers are nothing special, just overpriced. Establishment is cash only with an ATM inside. Paid $25 for a combo and got 6 onion rings, ground beef quality is mediocre and was not seasoned. Would not recommend, you can find a similar burger at any fast food joint for more than half the cost.
Good luck finding a seat or parking. It's cash only. The food wasn't that great and the prices are outrageous for what they serve here. I'd rather spend my money for better food at InNout.
I was very excited to try this restaurant after seeing it on YouTube (Food Insider and The Try Guys). Drove 40 minutes just to visit this place. Ordered a beef cheeseburger, chocolate milkshake, fries, and apple pie for dessert. The milkshake was solid. But the burger and pie was just ok. It was not bad by any means but it wasn't as good as I expected because Food Insider hyped this place up as the best cheeseburger in LA. When it came time for the checkout I was told that this is a cash only restaurant which annoyed me right off the bat but I didn't say anything because there are other places that have this policy as well. I ordered 4 slices of pie to go because I wanted to try out different flavors. Got the pies and came home. When I opened the bag, I realized I only got 3 slices of pie. Confused, I called the restaurant to see whats going on and I wondered if I accidentally only put in an order for 3 slices instead of 4. Turns out I did correctly order 4 slices but they made a mistake and only put in 3 slices but I was still charged for 4 slices of pie. I requested they give me a refund for the one slice of pie I didn't get. I was told that I would need to come back to the restaurant IN PERSON to get the refund in cash or if I come back as a customer I can get a free slice of pie. I explained that I lived quite far away and I also may be moving soon (which is true, I am tentatively waiting on a job offer from a different state) so my visit would probably be the first and last time at the restaurant. So I asked if they could send me the money electronically with Venmo or something and they still said no because they have a cash only policy. Needless to say, I was beyond annoyed. I just gave up and hung up the phone. The pie is only $6 per slice so it doesn't break my bank or anything. But its the whole principle that is so upsetting for me. I feel like I have been robbed of my money which is essentially what happened. You expect me to drive all the way over to you guys again which is almost a 1.5 hour drive round trip just to get a $6 refund? It'll cost more for the gas to drive there. Very disappointed.
