Really good Tex Mex food in a fun atmosphere
We had a great time! We sat at the bar and asked about sipping Mezcal & Tequila. Dennis, a bartender, was so helpful, and the bartender Juan Carlos (JC) was super knowledgeable about the Mezcal… and then the manager, Eric, continued to help guide us to ensure our choices were exactly what we were looking for. The attention we received from the staff and Eric was heartfelt. Even though we are leaving tomorrow to fly back home, Juan Carlos and Eric made La Rosa a definite stop every time we come back out.
La Rosa provided us with an amazing ambiance, lovely service, and food that was authentic Mexican. Alejandro who took care of us was amazing. The pictures speak for the yummy food we had....
First of all the ambience of the location! Beautiful brick buildings gorgeous street. And then come the fajitas! Best fajitas I’ve had in Northern California ever. Loved it
Love it here, we come often and have been coming here for over 15 year
Our server Chris made the difference. Caring and warm, made us feel welcomed. The guacamole was amazing and the combo platter was a value meal! The tamale was particularly flavorful. Will be back!
Great food, great atmosphere, and great service!! We had chicken fajitas which were sizzling at our table before my wife got back from washing up. Loved the seasoning and sides. Staff was attentive and also gave me recommendations for a local hotel and our trip up the Oregon coast.
Outstanding service, food was tasty, waiter was attentive and not hovering.
A favorite stop for margaritas. Chicken chili verde is as good as it gets. Top notch chips and salsa as well - a key benchmark for a Mexican restaurant.
Great food and very attentive, friendly service!
Honestly, the best Mexican cuisine I ever had. I now live in Texas, but this place come to mind still.
Amazing place and an even more amazing staff. Pio the manager took care of me. I am from LA and I know good mexican food and this place is right there with the best. I am now a lifetime customer thanks to Pio and the AMAZING staff. I wish I had more hands to give more thumbs up.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just moved here so finding a really good restaurant that serves outstanding Mexican food was one of my priorities. What immediately drew my attention, were the photos of the interior, the ambience and the yummy entrees. We read several reviews and the combination plates were the most talked about. We were not disappointed and for sure look forward to trying out the whole menu. I had the birria enchiladas with chili relleno even the beans and rice all of it was so yummy went thru chips and salsa even with the entree had to clean up the beans with the chips. Even tried my girls carne asada tradicional which was very tasty I liked the added touch of salsa with spring onions. If you check out the menu there are so many things that sound and look amazing like poblano shrimp pasta or coconut mariscos to the ceviche and other Peruvian inspirations. This is an easy recommendation price was mid range $$ worth the flavor and portions and service.
Sebastian our waiter was the best! The food is soooo great
We had a wonderful time at the bar at La Rosa. Because of where we sat and just the circumstance of the evening, we had a lot of interaction with manager Eric. The bar staff, Dennis and Juan Carlos themselves were fantastic, attentive, and guided us with our mezcal and tequila tastings. It was great to see how Eric interacted with us, other guests, and the staff. As small business owners ourselves, we always find ourselves paying attention to management’s interaction, and Eric was fantastic. He was involved in our experience and the other guests, while seamlessly handling other starf related duties. We were in the area for unfortunate personal reasons, and after a heavy week where we just needed a night to breathe, Eric created a great experience for us on our final day here. We will definitely be back, and even if we can’t get a seat at the bar with Dennis and Juan Carlos, we know we’ll get a great experience no matter where we sit because of the culture of the team there. Thank you!
I love this place. We come here to eat in the restaurant where the food is awesome or even hang out in the bar, have a few cocktails, and eat an appetizer. It's such a comfortable place. You can't go wrong!
We had a fantastic corporate dinner at La Rosa! Emily was fantastic at setting up our event and also serving us the evening of. The food was delicious and they were easily able to handle several special dietary needs of our team. The ‘Rose Room’ was right off the main entrance but still felt secluded enough for our private event. If you need a location for a large family or corporate gathering in the Santa Rosa area, I highly recommend La Rosa!
We had an absolutely amazing meal here. Erik was the host who helped us get seated outside which was a lovely setting. Our server, Alejandro, was so attentive and steered our food selections in the right direction. The food was delicious and I wish we had Mexican food this great in the east bay.
The best Mexican food around! Anything you order from the menu is outstanding and their margaritas are unique and one of a kind. All the staff treat you like family, and the vibe can be anywhere from laid back to fancied up for a date. You can’t go wrong with La Rosa
Amazing margs and I had the seafood relleno. It was probably the best one I have ever had. Service was also top notch.
We came in completely unprepared for how awesome this place was! One of the owners taught us so much about tequila and mezcal. They have lots of really cool craft (artesanal) bottles and interesting things to try. I'm sure they do great casual tequila drinks too, but we are all about exploring the complexities of agave liquors. We'll be back for sure, maybe early enough to try some food too!
Staff our like our own family . We enjoy the wonderful food and margaritas our fresh squeezed and amazing ! Beers on are delicious. They never disappoint!
Was visiting Santa Rosa, my hometown, from Idaho and decided to check out La Rosa. We were NOT disappointed. The ambiance was great and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We were beat after a 14 hour drive and they were very accommodating. Made sure our drinks and chips were always full. The portions are big so if you nom-nom on some chips you will more than likely have some leftovers. A couple adults in our party shared an enchilada plate and it was perfect. The picture below is my socal burrito. I took more than half of this to-go. It was HUGE. :)
We have had lunch and dinner here quite a few times and have always been happy with the flavor of the food and absolutely friendly staff. Last night we wanted to go for a cocktail, it was my birthday, and we found ourselves in their bar for the first time. The seating was quite comfortable and the bartenders were very astute to getting drinks for the dining room but also serving all of us at the bar. I had the Desert Rose which had just enough sweetness, a little tart, and a very pleasant spicy finish.
On a beautiful day with low attendance when I arrived. I say this because I cannot attest to other days. The atmosphere is rustic and chic with a Santa Rosa style. Outside on a sunny day with all the passersby had my neck on a swivel from all the aesthetically pleasing views. My server, JuanCarlos, needs a cape, a superhero saves the day. The order: Carne asada, carnitas, shrimp, and blackened salmon tacos. Margaritas are on point. The star of the show was that crazy salsa! BANG💥 ABSOLUTELY. That was fire 🔥 so tasty they need to put it on a bottle. So good, I wanna take you home😉. Definitely going back again.
This restaurant really did a good job in both service and quality of food. Service was amazing. We had a party of 9 and everyone had a different meal. Everyone was pleased. I love the brussels sprouts as an appetizer and the ahi tuna tostadas. If you’re in the area be sure to try it it won’t disappoint.
Great ambiance, they have indoor and outdoor seating. Many options on their menus. Plenty of parking options around. Let's talk about the interior, such a cool place! Food was also delicious, portions were pretty big. We tried a variety of dishes, my favorite was the chicken enchiladas. Stop by and check them out!
An attractive, reasonably priced, and competent upscale family Mexican restaurant. The interior and ambience are especially good, although it can get a bit loud. Try the expansive patio in good weather.
Great happy hour at La Rosa tonight! Our server Sebastion was absolutely fabulous, food was great with lots of choices, and very reasonably priced. We been to La Rosa for lunch and dinner and always enjoyed - great to add it to our list a happy hour faves.
The tortilla soup is amazing. I come here from Ukiah just for that! Everything is always fresh and delicious. Sometimes service can be a little slow, but they are always very nice.
Our preschool has a family with a personal connection to La Rosa and they generously allowed us to come for dinner! The food was wonderful and the staff was so patient with so many preschoolers! We were able to joyfully join together in community and support a locally owned restaurant! We can not thank you enough!
I visited early Friday evening, and the place was already packed! Service was a bit slow, but it’s understandable all things considered, especially since I visited solo. Management seemed to be aware though, and he was consistently stepping in with check in’s and running food/drinks, which was appreciated. Regarding the actual dining, I had the Sueno de Maracuya and Shrimp Tacos, and they were both sooooo good. Sometimes it can be surprisingly hard to find decent Cal/Tex-mex, but the shrimp tacos definitely achieved that perfect sweet spot. From the perfectly seasoned shrimp, the perfect mix of fresh and flavorful toppings, to the perfectttt black beans, I definitely had no criticism. I wish I wasn’t trying to portion my meals because trying more of the menu would have been so much fun, but I am still very happy with my limited experience! Would definitely love to come back, especially when they’re not so busy, but it makes sense why they are!
2 years ago my now wife and I had our first date at La Rosa. It’s our favorite place to go for great food and drinks. Last weekend we had our wedding reception in the upstairs lounge and it was beyond what we expected! Emmy did an amazing job coordinating the event. A+ Emmy! The room itself is amazing with beautiful art and atmosphere perfect for a wedding reception. The bartenders were super friendly and happy, the main host/server was an on point professional. What stood out the most to us, was the genuine care and friendliness of all the staff to make the event wonderful. They felt like they were a part of our reception. And to top off this perfect experience, my wife lost her pop socket from her phone. And the next day, one of the downstairs staff members, happily went back upstairs and searched for the item, found it, and absolutely refused to accept a small tip for doing so. I feel like it’s those little things that make the difference and warranted the best review I can muster up. An absolutely perfect place for a reception, event or party! Especially for the price!
Our family loves La Rosa! ♥️ Great margaritas, tortilla chips, and salsa!!! (And oooo that melty cheese!) If you are looking for a sunny patio in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa... it's a hit! The atmosphere is always comforting and we can usually get a large table pretty quickly! When guests come to town, they always have something on the menu to make everyone happy. (My vegetarian and pescatarian friends can enjoy several items as well!)
I had an incredible experience at this restaurant! They had great happy hour which goes every day 4 pm to 6pm. The food was absolutely delicious, every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. The service was just as impressive. The staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel right at home. It’s rare to find a place that combines great food with such warm hospitality. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic meal and a wonderful atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!
AMAZING experience! Such great food, everything was delicious and you can tell the ingredients used are higher quality than most. Can’t wait to go back, it was a total hit with my fiancé and sister(: We had a few margaritas and cocktails which were yummy too! The chips are thin and crisp, and salsa had the perfect amount of heat.
We enjoyed a nice evening out in the patio for dinner at La Rosa restaurant. The atmosphere was pleasant as well as the food and drinks. And when it came to the desert it was blissful. As you can see from the pictures we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Next time we're down in Santa Rosa we will definitely have to stop here for dinner.
We stopped into this place while we were visiting for a night in Santa Rosa. They have a nice patio for warm nights and the interior spaces looked interesting and fun too. The staff were doing their best to keep up with a big crowd. The food was pretty tasty and the right amount. Two of us shared the taco fish taco plate and house margarita for a light dinner. Add to that the large amount of chips and salsa and you have a pretty tasty and filling meal.
A nice, lively joint in the heart of Santa Rosa. Very good drinks, but the chicken wings were a bit too watery. Aside from that, great decor in a very classic Mexican style. Would recommend
Arrived in the mid afternoon, having skipped lunch. So it wasn't busy, and we receded it right away and well taken care of. It probably took us longer to order than it took to get our food as we looked at every item on the menu, front to back at least twice before ordering. For appetizers, we ordered and shared guacamole to go with our chips and Tres Mini Tacos Al Pastor. All three of us really enjoy it these appetizers. I had the carne asada street tacos, which I really enjoyed. My daughter ordered taquitos, and it was the first time she had ever ordered taquitos in a restaurant. She liked them for the most part, even though she had never had real taquitos. My wife had the kale and citrus salad, which she describes as good and on a hot day, the fruit and the salad really hit the spot for her. I've been starting off with a base rating of three in every category, so a rating of four across the board is a good rating from me. The atmosphere here is authentic and really nice. We were comfortable and they had the doors open to the street fair That was about to start just outside. I would describe the place as upscale, but you can dress casually and have a good time. Sorry no pictures this time, but i'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised if you give La Rosa Taqueria and Grille.
Enjoyed a fun date-night here a few weeks ago. Shared some fresh and delicious shrimp ceviche and tacos. And ordered an añejo and mezcal margarita. This is a beautiful restaurant, filled with art and traditional trinkets. The entry way is lovely and inviting. Our server was very friendly and upbeat. We will return to try other dishes.
Good service and atmosphere. Food is good, but I've had better. It's still worth the visit. Good margaritas but it's pricey. Give it a shot after payday.
The pasta dish we had was pretty nice. The burrito we had wasnt as good as any taqueria around. Pretty expensive for 50/50...
La Rosa's warm, friendly atmosphere greeted us on a rainy night and nicely spiced, flavorful food warmed us inside. Most of the parking is metered and there might be a short walk for you but the food is worth it. We had Brussel sprouts and carnitas chimichanga, both delicious and generous portions. We also tried coconut flan with pineapple. Yum. Prices were reasonable. It was busy and family friendly so a little noisy. I'd go back!
I Came All The Way From Yuba City To Try This Restaurant. The Food Did Not Disappoint It Was Delicious, However The Service Which Was Provided By Janina Was Not Very Great, Her Service Alone Made The Experience Not So Good And Made Me Not Want To Return. No Facial Expression Whatsoever, Rude Demeanor, As Though She Did Not Enjoy Her Job. Understand A Bad Day But Didn’t Seem Like That Was The Case.
Went on a Friday night. Minimal wait just a few minutes and got a table for 2 inside with a view of the patio. The chairs were super comfortable and I ordered a skinny margarita right away. It was good and strong and I ended up having another one. I order chicken enchiladas and my husband had a few tacos. The salsa was a little spicy but still really good. Loved the corn and refried beans. The restaurant was a little loud so it was hard to hear each other sometimes without talking loudly.
La Rosa taqueria and Grille has long history here in Santa Rosa. I know it as a The Cantina, I grew up here in Santa Rosa so if you ever wanna Mexican cuisine come here that environment beautiful loud you could be yourself and the food delicious. So whenever you are downtown Santa Rosa and you’re in my town come here you will love it. Love life, love food and shut up. #shutupandeat!
The taste of the food is really important to me. I really didn't like my dish but that's because I don't like lomo saltado. That being said, I had lots of different appetizers as well as the fried ice cream and they were all mid. My friend said her dish was also nothing to write home about. So that with how expensive it is, I'll go elsewhere. Our server was awesome though, very nice and hardworking.
Food was lacking flavor. Had the birria enchiladas and couldn't hardly taste any birria, enchilada sauce on top also lacked flavor. Beans and rice were better than the birria enchiladas. The best thing was the chips and salsa. Service was slow despite seeing tons of staff. Doubt I would return for food. Maybe drinks during happy hour.
Very nice food, well designed space, accommodating staff. Unfortunately our Saturday night dinner was destroyed not through any fault of this restaurant, but because the restaurant across the street had live bands playing music so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves think much less have a conversation with each other. La Rosa is probably fine for lunch or a weekday dinner, but I would avoid this entire block and any restaurant on it if the place across the street has a band. I'm frankly shocked that the city allows this.
My boyfriend has gotten super stomach sick the past two times after eating here and we’ve connected it to meat contamination since he’s a vegetarian. Sucks because the food and service is great, but we won’t be coming back.
Great server in the bar seating area. She was so good to us. Unfortunately the food is just so so here. I have thought it was just a one off since I don’t go here very often but truly, food is never that great. Might be because I don’t like this salsa. Too much cumin
Some friends of mine visited from Canada, and during our four-day trip exploring Napa and Sonoma, this restaurant was unfortunately the only disappointing experience we had. The place itself is large, but everything else about it felt pretty average. What really put us off was how the server refused to serve drinks to my Canadian friends because they didn’t have a physical ID — even though they had digital copies on their phones. To see if this was standard practice, we watched as other guests ordered drinks without being asked for ID at all. It left us wondering why we were treated differently, and frankly, it soured the entire experience for us. Usually we collect pictures but by seeing this behaviour we were not encouraged to collect any picture at all.
We hosted a dinner party at La Rosa (early July 2025). Emily Rindl Manager/event co-ordinator, was extremely hard to get hold of or get a response from once we had signed the contract. Emily did not even bother to stop by to say hello either before or during our dinner event even though she was at the restaurant all along (The dinner ended up costing us $100/ per person for a party of 30).
Got the pablono pasta was neither creamy nor flavorful. Had food poisoning within a couple of hours of having this.
We sat, they left chips on the table, and we waited more than 20 minutes. We tried to get the waitress's attention, but no one came to take our order, so we left. After walking three blocks, two waitresses came and charged us for the chips, which we thought were complimentary as we hadn't ordered them. Anyway, we went back and paid for that; it's no big deal. What was strange for me was that two waitresses took the time to leave the restaurant to find us and charge us a basket of chips, but they did not have the time to come to the table and take our order. Management should train the staff better.
IF I could give our experience zero stars I would! Our server was SOoooo Rude! It took forever to get our drinks. Once she took our order she didn’t stop to ask if that was all when we wanted to also order an appetizer. So we walked up and and asked her to add the order and she refused to tell the kitchen and said you probably wouldn’t get it anytime soon. We got our food then then our app and she had the nerve to say “see I told you you wouldn’t get your app before your dinner” then walked away. When we asked to split the check she said “she didn’t want to try and remember who ordered what so she won’t split the card only equally split it 4 ways”. Then as we were walking out she said someone took her pen and she followed us out of the restaurant saying we took her pen and she is going to charge our cards for the pen. We were all floored as we did not take her pen. It was the worst rudest service I have ever had!
The Food Was Good. But The Server Janina Was Very Rude. Her Demeanor Was As If She Did Not Enjoy Her Job. As We Were Paying The Balance She Asked “No Tip” Before We Had The Chance To Even Put One In.
