Home made food! Love the coffee since around this area there is no good quality around... Fresh aromatic coffee! The pastries are fresh and they ran out quick. Make sure they heat it up for not more than 30 seconds on the oven. Never microwave. The Colombian ladies in charge are nice, they sound better in Spanish lol.

El Buen Sabor is a great Colombian bakery that also provides a full menu if lunch/dinner is on the mind. Aside from the few staff members who could use a refresher on customer service, the overall experience will be pleasant. Prices are higher than other Colombian establishments but the difference in product is noted.

Whenever I want some great souo, this is one of the places I visit. Yes, I enjoy their pan bread and their various baked goods, but for me, it is their soup that is the star. If you are ever on Queens Blvd and want a delicious Colombian meal, stop by. Hopefully, you too will enjoy it as much as I do.

I don’t usually post reviews on here, but after today’s lunch, I had to do it. I have only eaten the hot food and the savory baked goods (empanadas etc), but everything ive eaten is absolutely delicious and always fresh (despite being on display). Today I had some salmon in a cream sauce - and this could have been served to me at a fancy restaurant in Manhattan, that’s how good it was. Their raviolis are the most delicious ravioli I have even tasted. Even their cheese empanadas are amazing because they add onions/peppers to the filling. I can’t say enough abt this place - it’s some of the the best food in the área and It’s not even expensive. Don’t be afraid of the line - it moves quickly

Food is amazing. Well seasons and tastes like home made food. They usually have about 3-4 people behind the counter and that isn't enough people in rush hour but the lines moves thankfully.

Came for lunch today for the 1st time with my coworker and we absolutely loved it!!! We had el pollo a la plancha and we split it and even splitting we were super full. The lady that helped me was sooo nice!!! The price was great. We will be coming back here!!!

Best Colombian eatery I’ve ever visited hands down! Down to earth staff that are there to serve you for any and all your food needs. Hands down best empanadas I’ve ever had in my life, can eat 10 in a row and still keep going. I have the food from here about 3/4x a week and have a variety of options every time. The menus always rotating so theirs always something your prob craving! Staff and management are above and beyond, even when the owners are there, they’re glad to keep you fed! Yummy in my tummy :)

My favorite place to go is 1 Buen Sabor, where I am treated like family. Many of the muchachas call me by name. Two or three days a week I eat comida — rice, beans, and plantain with a selection of meat entrées on the hot steam table. The soups are on another level; I suggest the chicken soup for newbies — comes with rice and fresh cilantro. The bakery products are delicious! Simple and fresh. The coffee is mucho rico! I drink mine black — strong and flavorful, never bitter like other chains nearby.

Whenever I'm in New York, I have to stop by this joint. A small spot filled with everything your pallet desires and more. From sweets to delicious finger foods and hands down the best croissants outside of Manhattan made fresh every day. The food is amazing and always fresh. The Salmon is a must have and before you leave grab a variety of empanadas. You will not be disappointed. Shout out to the staff at 1 Buen Sabor. I love you guy's. Can't wait to visit again. 😍

Three kinds of empanadas - not bad! Tried the strawberry spongecake, strawberry cheesecake and the carrot cake. Would definitely go for the first choice again! Also love their cappuccino and usually a place to sit in

The only complaint I have, is the Restaurant failing to address the packaging issue. Please use a better container for Tres Leches. When you go out shopping for treats, one of the things that you should never have to worry about is whether your food is packaged properly.

I stop here every time I'm in this area. Its popular and quick service. Food is delicious. Staff is very effective. And the prices are decent. Fed myself and my 6 yr old for under 20$ (including tip) baked good are great too. Its worth a visit if you're in the area.

This Restaursnt/Coffee Shop serves very good Spanish food such as: soups,a variety of empanadas and bake goods,white and yellow rice, coffee etc. The prices are pretty reasonable. Don't expect to be served by a waitress. Just tell the server what you want. Sit and enjoy 😉. The baked spinach empanadas are great. Only 4 stars because the don't delivered not even on a snow storm.

Good place for a quick bite. Food is ok. I recommend the soups and stews. Pastries and empanadas are below average though ok. Be prepared and patient for long line ... generally chatty customers will make the line linger--a cultural tradition of small talk is alive and well here. Unfortunately I have noticed that prices seem arbitrary by server which leads mw to distrust. Make sure you know the price before you order...

Love the empanadas here! They serve two different kinds: Argentinian empanadas, which are wrapped in flaky dough, and Colombian empanadas, which are wrapped in soft yellow corn dough. Both kinds are fantastic. Definitely ask to get them warmed up and say yes to the hot sauce. My personal favorites are the chicken and spinach Argentinian empanadas and the chicken/potato Colombian empanada.

The place has great food if you don't wanna cook lunch or dinner. They serve you quick and promptly. I'm not very fond of their pastries, but everyone has their on taste.

The Ladies were nice and helpful when ordering my food. The beef and chicken Soup was nice and Hot and went well with the white rice. Am from the BX. And would stop there to eat again..the bake Goods were Very Fresh.... With a nice cup of Hot Coffee.🍛🍰☕

Decent solid Colombian bakery. Get an arepa, some chorizo, and then kick back with a bottle of Pony Malta.

It's ok not great food, the price for this low quality food is very high. The customer service is 5 stars.

It's quite expensive for some of the portions size, but the food is okay to eat with your family, but the empanadas are quite bitter and even the red-orangey sauce. 3 stars for me.

The Mondongo is very good, so is the beef stew with some rice, along with a nice cold Columbiana. Umm good. There are lots of pastries but I'm not big on pastries there's also a lot of picking food

The people there are miserable with their lives tbh and the food is alright unless you like it that’s on you me I had way better.

The soups loose consistency after so many hours. Chicken is cut across bones and veins and cartilage not removed.

I've tried the empanadas and the hot food and enjoyed them both. However, the service here is not great. If you speak Spanish with anything other than a Colombian accent, they will have trouble understanding you. If you ask about any of the food or don't know how to order from their hot selections, they will make it difficult. So even though I like the food, I don't go there often.

3.5 stars. Undeniably popular. Some foods are very good and some sputter. The juices are ridiculously expensive compared to other things on the menu (5 for 12 oz, 6 for 16 oz). They proudly promote their 100 percent Colombian coffee, but it's a mediocre coffee at best.

Food was good while the staff were super rude and impatient. Price was higher than the other columbian spot in the neighborhood. The tilapia entree cost $12 and the breakfast rice with beans and scrambled eggs cost $7 ($12if you add a sausage)

This is a good place to eat and get coffee, they have a variety of food and bread to choose from. HOWEVER, one of their servers, started screaming at me telling me I was wrong and didn't ask for what I had ask. How does management let this specific person get away with this, I'm not sure. I blame management for not teaching their servers customer service. If you're going into any industry, SCREAMING and telling the customer "YOU'RE WRONG" isn't the way to run a business.

Although the food is good, it's a typical neighborhood restaurant that serves the same menu every single day. I reserve the 4th star (in a neighborhood restaurant) for places that take the time to vary their menus... but I have to say the servers are very kind.

It's a very popular spot. Though I don't consider it that great, many do. While on my second visit there, the cheese empanada was over cooked (the dough dry and cold). The surprise ingredient of peppers in the cheese was good but they are not as well stocked with a nice assortment of baked goods, as is the case in almost every other Colombian bakery I frequent. Having given my honest opinion, I wouldn't squash going back as a quick stop. It does seem many enjoy their hot food. So, give it a try and share your view with us all. Safe travels 😊.

Food are comfort food. I enjoyed it. Service is questable. I talked to two staff. One ingored me, and the other one was ok and took my order. I think many staff don't speak English therefore they tried to ignore English speaking customers... Anyway my guess only.

A nice sit in and cafetria style place in Sunnyside for some hot meal. The place is clean and the service is of course fast for a quick hunger satisfaction.

Food is OK but nothing special. The staff is rude and for some reason seems to think that the term "coffee" means "coffee, milk and sugar", to their taste. When I asked about it I was told that black coffee is only served in "American" restaurants. She reluctantly exchanged it for a black coffee. The staff needs to learn a thing or two about customer service.

The owner’s daughter, a petite damsel, displayed naivety regarding portion sizes and pricing, oblivious to the existence of larger plates concealed behind the counter, meant for heftier servings. The baked chicken legs exuded an unwelcome chill, reminiscent of an early morning preparation. Meanwhile, the succulent and oil-infused veggie sautéed chicken, immersed in its own aqueous essence, proved remarkably desiccated. I shall bestow an additional star upon this establishment for its affable customer rapport and the commendable international communication skills demonstrated by Norma. In fact, she truly salvaged my day, leading me to initially mistake her for the proprietor herself. Her competence shines brightly as she deftly attends to all patrons single-handedly. Undoubtedly, she merits a gratuity in recognition of her accomplishments! 6/15/2023 1pm.

Food is not bad as Colombian food goes but the service blows . Are the employees high or just plane stupid ? It's like they are in space messing up orders . If you order a cold drink why does one employee serve it in a paper cup while another in plastic. Cold coffee goes in plastic cup with a straw.

Extremely overpriced for regular Colombian food, a soup and rice beans a a piece of meat will cost you $14 you can get the same just one block north at el pilon for $10. Dont waste your money even their bread is overpriced.

This place was just a gem when it was smaller..fast attemptive service, most delicious fresh dollar coffee, fresh baked goods and food, and the best hot sauce I've ever had anywhere...would buy stuff just to enjoy that delicious sauce.... I used to go almost every single day.Then they closed it for renovations..I couldnt wait for them to open again...then it did...and like many places that's where the downfall began. First they changed the recipe of the hot sauce, and it was overpowering heat and not the flavorful kind...I stopped asking for any all together...its bad...by far the saddest part of the demise of this place...they hired alot more staff...yet half the time you catch them eating, talking among themselves and slow as heck to serve you, even though there are 5 women behind the counter vs. the two they had before who were much nicer and more personable. They raised the price on the coffee..and it tastes bitter now..so not the fresh well prepared coffee I was used to. The quality of the food changed as well...its lost its homemade feel and the ration of rice to protein is like 85% to 15%it's not balanced at all...I ordered soup and it was chock full of potatoes and one piece of chicken with a massive bone that took up half the container...so disappointed...I seldomly go there anymore...the saying is true.. sometimes less is more.

DONT COME TO THIS PLACE. SAVE YOURSELVES. Listen to the Department of Sanitation Rating of a B! They don’t even deserve a B. The service is horrible you wait a line for 10 minutes. Once you actually get to the front the “ladies” will treat you horribly especially if your a female, if you’re a guy they’ll try to flirt with you (You’ve been warned). I don’t know how many times I’ve come and they always mess up my order. They never apologize and chose to scream at the customer rather than helping them. Never ask to speak to the manager because according to them they are all managers. Once again if you want to have a nice time go to 47th and Greenpoint there’s a way better Colombian Bakery.

Attempted to buy coffee with half and half and the lady told me that they do not have half and half because it's not a Colombian staple that people use in Colombia so they do not add half and half to coffee. Bought a buñuelo and it tasted nothing like a buñuelo just a mass of dough that was fried with no taste at all.

I went recently with my aunt I didn't want anything there as I didn't know what anything was everything is in Spanish and I have to be careful what I eat my aunt turns around and tells the server I'm racist. The only thing I would have gotten there is a slice of strawberry shortcake and even that is soaking wet mess.

I purchased 4 chicken empanadas and was given beef instead. When I went to tell the lady she gave me an attitude and I overheard her tell her coworker I probably wanted it to be free. The one who took my Order came to me and confirmed that it was her mistake. The staff here is incredibly rude and treated me poorly. It’s not even about the money I spent it’s about being respectful.

It no longer lives up to its name, "El Buen Sabor," as it did in the old days when it started as a small and authentic place. Although they have renovated and modernized the space, they seem to have forgotten the most important part: the flavor and seasoning that once defined them. A piece of advice: never order the flan or baked empanadas, as the experience is terrible. The products are in such bad condition that they’re green from being spoiled. I should have taken pictures to support my claim, but I was more focused on rushing to the bathroom to vomit. I made a complaint, and at first, they ignored me. However, when I mentioned that I would take pictures and record a live video, they quickly refunded my money. It’s sad to see how a place that used to stand for quality has completely lost its essence.

Noise Complaint Regarding AC/Heat Units – 311 Notification Javier Lopez, an owner of El Buen Sabor, I am writing to formally address an ongoing issue concerning the excessive noise produced by the AC/heat units within the building. For the past [duration], the noise has become increasingly disruptive, particularly during the evenings and early mornings. The sound is often loud enough to disturb daily activities, making it difficult to concentrate, sleep, and maintain a peaceful environment for residents in the back of the building. We have asked the managers the the ladies there... but they acted like they dont speak English and didnt even look like they cared. We did put a camera from our residence to record all activity of noise. I will also contact consumer affairs. The noise continues to be a consistent problem. I have already notified 311 about this situation, and a report has been filed for further investigation. I kindly ask for your prompt action to address the noise disturbance and investigate the root cause, whether it is a mechanical issue or a maintenance concern. The comfort and quality of life for residents should be a top priority, and this persistent noise is significantly affecting that.

This is usually a staple in our neighborhood been there for years, however the SERVICE IS DISGUSTING! The servers act like they have more authority over the customer and treat everyone badly! I went with my mom straight after the gym and they acted so rude, my mom ordered a BLACK COFFEE the waitress gave us milk in her coffee (my moms lactose intolerant) we told her we want a black one. She acted like we didn’t order right and was giving us a hard time to fix our order. We sat back down and she yells across the restaurant “come I will give you a free coffee”(in Spanish). First off it’s not free, we paid for it… this is you fixing your mistake. This is not the first time these ladies act up and act some type of way!!! Last time I ordered a salmon and a waitress told me salmon is more expensive…. Like excuse me???? If I was worried about the price I would ask how much it is. Truly so dissatisfied with the lack of respect from these servers!

They microwaved my baked empanada not an expert but my spidey instincts told me something doesn’t feel right. And it came out soggy as for the flavor salty. I asked for an ice cube for my hot chocolate and I got 5 cubes but my iced chocolate was ok tasting. Place has good food but be careful when you order to go. Make sure to check your receipt. I ordered a couple of things and I was overcharged for 2 items that I never ordered nor dis they include them in my bag. Be sure to always ask for your receipt since prices are never posted behind the counter.
