Very good taste and its most authentic Thai restaurant I have been into…. All the food dish were excellent…. And the staff are very friendly and the service was great.
March 3, 2023 We dine this restaurant for over 15 years. As Thai person, We think this one of the most authentic Thai food restaurant in Los Angeles. The service are always excellent and friendly. Big plus, this restaurant also has a full bar and open until very late nights. Chris V.
Good food and decent service. Went in a big group and all enjoyed. Only thing was it was a bit pricey $700 bill.
This is one of my favorite places in Hollywood. The staff is so nice, and it may take a minute when they're busy, but I've never felt ignored or disrespected here, they're very welcoming and kind. I love their Crying Tiger, with vegetable Pad Thai. I can't wait to go back. ❤️
had a nice comfy booth. Panang Curry was amazing. Lots of shrimp. Sticky rice was the perfect compliment to the dish. Wash it down with a Singha. Definitely coming back! Thank you! Kop Kuhn Kop
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in LA. The food is always amazing Not as cheap as other Thai restaurants, I have a pretty big menu. The service is also pretty fast. The karaoke Knights are fun...! They have an outside patio to dine. Right next to their tiny parking lot Which can only park 6 or 8 cars otherwise you have to look on the street for parking. But all worth it.
First time here. The staff was extremely kind, attentive, and helpful. My friends and I came here around 2am for a late night meal. The food was made quickly and brought out in a timely manner. I ordered the bbq pork, rice, and veggies. Big portions, was oy able to eat half. I will definitely be returning here 😌
This is my first time ordering here. I got the crispy tofu app and chicken pad see ew The portions are huge (I can make multiple meals out of these portions). The food was hot, fresh and delicious. I can't wait to make my way through this menu.
I visited Hollywood Thai Restaurant on a Saturday night with my friends and we had a great time. The restaurant is located in the heart of Hollywood, close to many attractions and nightlife options. The ambiance is modern and cozy, with a full bar and a karaoke stage. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious and authentic. We ordered a variety of dishes, including pad thai, papaya salad, fried morning glory, pineapple fried rice, and tiger cry. The portions were generous and the flavors were well-balanced. The pad thai was sweet and tangy, with crunchy peanuts and fresh bean sprouts. The papaya salad was spicy and refreshing, with shredded green papaya, tomatoes, green beans, and roasted peanuts. The fried morning glory was crispy and savory, with garlic, chili, and oyster sauce. The pineapple fried rice was colorful and aromatic, with chunks of pineapple, cashews, raisins, and chicken. The tiger cry was tender and juicy, with grilled beef slices, lime juice, chili flakes, and roasted rice powder. The highlight of the night was the karaoke. The restaurant has a large selection of songs in different languages and genres. We sang our hearts out and had a lot of fun. The staff and other customers were very supportive and cheered us on. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Hollywood Thai Restaurant. The food was tasty and satisfying, the service was warm and efficient, the atmosphere was lively and entertaining. We will definitely come back again and recommend it to anyone who loves Thai food and karaoke.
I love this place! We always order the seafood soup, pad se ew, and raw shrimp salad. So good!
I really enjoyed this place, the staff and service exceeded my expectations. The food is delicious. I highly recommend first timers to come and experience the food and service. Definitely made the top of my list on Thai food restaurants. Hope this review is helpful to anyone looking to enjoy a good meal along with a good time.
Delicious, but definitely more of a night spot. The crowds didn't come in until past 9pm. It was also very slow - we were at dinner for 2.5 hours. It's worth the wait but definitely budget a lot of time.
Friendly atmosphere. Been coming to this spot for 18 years. Consistent food and one of Hollywoods late night gem.
Shoutout to my girl Gina!! She is the best she is such a warm lady with a good precious heart and the food is the best in town period
Lots and seating for large and small groups. Delicious and authentic Thai food run by a family. I went with my 80+ year old parents my 23 and 20 yo sons and my 22 yo nephew. We all enjoyed the food. The staff was attentive and made sure we were happy. They brought out a cake that I purchased outside for my older son's college graduation. Overall a great experience.
Great food, excellent service I highly recommended
Came here with a friend and his family during ciclavia and man the authentic flavor of Thai cuisine come to life here. Must try this place out. Very big and spacious great for large gatherings and huge family gatherings.
Great service and great food! Our server gave us awesome recommendations and the food came out really quickly! We went on a Monday night and were immediately seated. Got the tofu drunken noodles, shrimp Penang curry, and the papaya salad. All were delicious. One thing to be aware of: We got a 1 out of 4 spice level and it was still really spicy!
What a great welcoming experience! Coming from Houston, Hollywood Thai Restaurant was our first restaurant in LA and wow they impressed. The staff did an amazing job making me feel warm and enjoyable by holding meaningful conversations. Not to mention the food was amazingly authentic, rich in flavor and large generous portions. Kind and nice people here.
Came with a friend for dinner while I was visiting LA. Excellent service and food. Would definitely revisit this place when I'm in the area.
The last time I was here was before the pandemic. It was great then. It's still great now. The food is delicious. We came for the Goong Chae Nam Pla which I still believe is the best in Thai town. We also enjoyed their clams in chili basil sauce. I always look forward to at least having one meal here whenever I visit LA.
The food is always amazing and flavorful as can be. Thank you for the hospitality when me or my friends dine in.
Ordered two Thai iced teas here to go. They are not made from powder like many. This was a good one. Great service really nice people and great reasonable prices. I like half and half in my Thai tea making it more creamy but this one was good also. Seemed it was made with whole milk so a bit less creamy but some people prefer it like this.
Called a week before about a 30 person birthday dinner the next weekend, and they assured me I could get an entire room and no time limit :) my group had an amazing time and left so full (try the Tiger Cry and pad thai with crispy pork!) We had a great time and everyone at the restaurant was so friendly, thank you!
The best Pad Ke Mao I've ever had. They have a full bar also and karaoke on Fridays. Good portions of food for the prices. Definitely the best Thai Iced Tea I've ever had also. Nice staff too, they check on you and make sure your food is what you expect. Definitely coming back!
This past Friday, October 10, we had an exceptional dining experience. The food was delightful, bursting with authentic Thai flavors, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. When it comes to exploring different cuisines beyond our own, we always choose a restaurant that comes highly recommended. This time, we decided to try Thai cuisine based on a recommendation from a good friend of our eldest daughter, and I’m so glad we did! The restaurant surpassed our expectations and rivalled our usual go-to spot. From the moment we arrived, the staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring we felt welcome throughout our meal. Each dish we ordered was not only beautifully presented but also rich in flavor and expertly prepared. I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy delicious Thai food in a pleasant setting. Great food and excellent service—what more could you ask for?
Great vibes all around! Yummmmy food! Came here with some friends from New York who have been coming here for over 10 years. Was too busy enjoying the food, atmosphere and conversation to take photos inside. We were in a long booth and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. One of the owners came out and said good bye and hugged my friends! Made us feel like we were always welcome! Open late :)
I had an amazing experience at Hollywood Thai. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming. The music really set the tone, it was definitely a vibe that kept the mood fun and upbeat throughout the evening. The food was absolutely delicious. On top of that, the service was impressively quick and efficient. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was just right. I’ll definitely be back!
I think I might’ve discovered one of the best Thai restaurants in Hollywood. Visiting Hollywood, something I have started doing fairly regularly. I asked a friend of mine, who lives here, if there was a good Thai restaurant he would suggest, one night at eight. This is the one he told me to check out I wish I was hungrier. The papaya salad was so good. It. Had a little heat, so if you’re sensitive to spies, maybe I asked them if there’s a less spicy version. But, it’s worth that little bit of heat. And, it feels like a good ballot of heat to be. I also had the Penang curry, with duck. The guy serving me suggested the duck. It was a good suggestion the duck was it perfectly cooked and seasoned. And, the flavor of the panang was so delicious. I also had the Thai tea, standard for me, it was also very good. Just come try it.
I loved this place. We were looking for Thai food and nothing seemed to convince us until we just gave up and decided to give this place a chance. Everything from the moment we walked in was great, the hospitality and the service. The food is nothing like back home. We come from all across the country and this is one of the best Thai restaurants i’ve ever been to. 1000/10 would recommend.
Food is great, nice atmosphere and live music occasionally. The price is what you expect from a Thai food restaurant, $10 being the average price for the dish. The main atmosphere problem that can easily be overlooked is how small it is interiorly (feels a bit cramped when full). There is a $5 valet parking charge. I only had one bad experience with this place and it was when asking for water; the water tasted as if it had some type of chemicals/dish soap. They didn't handle the problem well but it is something I didn't cause a scene for as well.
Is good, but it could be better. The service is very slow (because they just have two waiters for all restaurant, not because they are not doing their job, they even do the bar stuff). The tofu curry was amazing, and the raw shrimp was good too. The barbecue squid was very very bad. The prices are ok.
This place is good! It can get really busy on the weekends. sometimes they might get understaffed, especially after the pandemic, think they might be adjusting but their food is fresh, taste great. There's a few things like Tiger cry that isn't that good but everything else is lot better than the other Thai places in Hollywood. Also the portions are generous and service is always pretty good when they are not busy. Parking is also pretty difficult to find but that's Hollywood so I'm not expecting to be able to find it immediately.
My friend and I ordered the beef Pad Thai, spring rolls and Kung Pao chicken and our bill came to $76+ and the servings were medium sized. We didn't even order anything to drink besides water. The prices are hidden on the menu. We came late night with a large group. The food was delicious but way over priced. There was no parking in the small lot so we had to park on the street, down the street a few blocks. Service was okay. They didn't check on us after serving the food.
Bas was a kind server. It was almost a 5 star we had a great time. The only thing is that we looked at the menu prices, we thought they just made the font dark of the prices.. But apparently they just blocked it out with a dark marker. So our bill came out way higher than expected… we asked about it. You think they would accomodate for that but they didn’t. I told him they should get new menus, and the manager just stood there like he expected us not to pay. :((((
Food was great. Waiter helped us customize items to make them vegetarian. We were very impressed with that flexibility. Only small complain is that Service staff disappeared after initial service. We had to wait long time to get some additional cutlery.
They open until late night! Food is okay, a bit pricey, but the area smells so much like smoke (so many people smoke) even in the outdoor area. I love how the staff allow a homeless person eat some leftovers of group. She actually gave a bottle of water for him and let him eat. That is very nice.
This place is really good. The food is consistently good and service is excellent. The only reason why I give it 4 star is that they charge 3% if your using a credit card maybe that's the reason why this place is never crowded comparing to the surrounding Thai restaurants.
This Thai restaurant is a great option to eat at when nowhere else is open. They stay open after midnight and also have a bar inside as well! The food tasted authentic and the portions were pretty good. I didn’t like how all the prices on the menu were scratched out. When you get the tab at the end of your meal you can’t see the prices of the individual items either. Other than that no complaints, our party had a great time here. The service was really good. The older lady working the bar and taking our order was super friendly. The other staff were really helpful as well. I would totally recommend this restaurant if you have the late night munchies for thai food. Also, please remove the sliced white bread from the chicken satay dish. Its really not necessary.
Definitely the nicest ambience with nice TV's and a nice bar, but Jesus Christ literally the worst service. It's not that they're mean it's just the waiters are NEVER around literally they'll disappear for 10 minutes at a time and no matter how packed the place is there's only like 2 at the most. Sanamluang for being such a tiny place usually has at least 4 waiters per busy shift. The food here is ok but not worth the wait. A typical dinner will take like an hour for no good reason
The shrimp paste shrimp fried rice is something that I always liked. But seems for the past 2 months the taste of the fried rice has changed. I was a fan of this but the taste has deteriorated. I wish they could maintain the taste for this. Pros: Open till late night, Ambience, Service Cons: Service Fee charged for Cards, Food
Found this place open late night after a night of partying. Food was delicious. Came back to LA for a Dr's appointment today and decided to stop here again. Food was tasty, but service wasn't that great. The hostess kept backing away from me as she took my order as if I was going to rub off on her or something. Lol. Which was funny because I'm hard of hearing and kept coming towards her to understand & hear what she was saying.
I used to go to this restaurant a lot with my Thai friend. I was very satisfied with the food, although the price is a bit expensive. Tonight I ordered a papaya salad for take out. I was very disappointed. I could not eat the salad for several reasons. First, the salad was not fresh. Second, the fish sauce that was used had a strong smell of fish. I had eaten papaya salad in this restaurant before and I liked it very much. But this was completely different and the strong smell of fish sauce was inedible. I think the quality of the fish sauce was different. The third point is that when the salad has been prepared for several hours, in addition to not freshness, a lot of water and sauce accumulates under the vegetables. You know what I'm talking about. The last point is that the price of a papaya salad is $17, which is very high. Parking is not free if you go for dining, but it is free for take-out. Sorry restaurant management for this comment. I had gone for this salad with great enthusiasm, but I really threw it all in the garbage. The quality was really low.
Not what it use to be. Highly overpriced, especially when considering quality of food, ambiance and service. Lastly 10 dollars plus tip to valet park and no parking options otherwise because in this area stret parking is almost impossible
We used to love this place, and we used to go there all the time. Last Monday we had an awful experience. I thought about not writing anything, but they should definitely improve a few things so here we are. We waited for about one hour and a half to get something to drink (!!!) The service was incredibly slow, but we were in good company so we weren’t too bothered abut that. We realized at the end of the night that we’ve been there for 4 hours!!! The tables around us haven’t been cleaned at all during our staying. When the bill came we thought it was too much according to what we ordered. So I asked the waiter for an itemized bill. He read the paper hand written in Thai by another waitress. The only check that we got was a series of numbers, so we had no way to see if it was correct. We paid. Nobody kept the receipt, but I went online to double check the prices. There’s no prices for the drinks, so I called. It turned out that we have been over charged for $50. We got food for a total of $85 (1 shrimp cake, 1 spring roll, 2 pad sew , 1 raw shrimps, 2 bowls of rice 1 curry) and drinks for $73 (1pitcher of IPA 1 lager and 4 Bangkok iced tea) We’ve been charged $208 + tips. So unfair!!! So not professional!!! The owner wasn’t there that night, but these kind of things shouldn’t happen. We appreciated your business and we hope that in the future you will present a check understandable to people who don’t speak Thai.
This place is pricier than other options in the neighborhood. The service was slow, and the vibe was a mix of a converted grocery store, sports bar, and diner. The space was large and echoing, with a lot of noise.
Had to ask for rice 4 times, and Thai patrons received their meals way before us. We ordered it spicy, and the food would have been more flavorful with water on it. Plates were delivered 15 minutes apart for four people. Then I recalled that my coworkers ordered in Thai, and the young, attractive Thai lady acted as if she didn't understand them. My Cambodian and Filipino co-workers who speak and read Thai communicated fine with the darker-skinned staff. $125 plus tip, one would think the service would be better. I suggest the Thai Temple in North Hollywood; better value and real Thai food. Or Crispy Pork Gang next door, people are way more polite. This place has really gone downhill.
The wait for food was ridiculous. The worst is each plate is served different times so you can’t enjoy it all together and end up having to start or wait to eat cause it’s awkward at the table. Huge downfall here. Kept on apologizing for the wait but it wasn’t a packed night.. either they need more staff or just need to change their way of getting it served.. kind of turn out about going here again.
I didn't like this restaurant. This is Not Thai restaurant. I ordered chicken heaven and it was so dry, I wasn't able to chew it. And papai salad was actually cabbage salad and the cook even didn't bother to cut it well (picture below). I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars because (after arguing with the waiter) I didn't have to pay for the food I couldn't eat. This is actually my first time I had to argue with the waiter about quality of the food. She said that if I would not pay for the food, she will have to pay. I felt very sorry for her. But, we all work for our money and I believe we should spend our money for things that we like and worth spending money for. To the waiter, I wish you will find a better job in a better place. It's unexpected that the owner asks you to pay for the food that customers didn't like. It must be the responsibility of the cook to make a good quality food.
Food is hit or miss depending on what you order. Service is ok. Lack of transparency into pricing is a big issue. The menu has no prices, just a note that says you can see pricing online. However, the website with the prices is not easy to find and not sure the prices shown online even reflect what they charge. I do like the atmosphere, personally.
I had a terrible experience at this establishment. The food was highly questionable, lacking flavor, and not enjoyable at all. Everything was either overly sweet or completely bland. On top of that, when I asked the waiter about prices (since none were listed), they avoided answering and referred me to a QR code meant for online orders those prices didn’t even match what we were charged. The food was ridiculously overpriced, and we ended up paying nearly $200 for four subpar dishes. To make matters worse, the location wasn’t even in a nice or touristy area to justify the cost. This place is a complete rip off, and I strongly advise others to stay away.
Food was tasty, but service was horrible, the owner was very unfriendly, because for this service we didn´t give a tip. He shouted at us not to return there. Waitress didn´t talk with us, we got the menu with old prices (the new prices was more expensive), we didn´t get a waring. After this it wasn´t there any sorry, just where is the tip, you must pay the tip! We had a feel, that we are not a welcome there during the service and after owner´s scene, we never go back and I will not recomande to anyone. :(
So, I recently got out of the hospital after a week. I was craving some Thai food and chose this restaurant based on the reviews. I actually left a different Thai place to come here. Beyond all else, the food was awful and made me sick. I couldn't even eat more than a few bites. I was overcharged. The water smelled, and it was just a horrible restaurant experience. I even set it back and had them remake it. The server's response was "sometimes the cooking is bad."
Not enough food prices too high! except for Noodles & soup. Well first orders come to you one at a time so nobody gets their food at the same time. I ordered jumbo shrimp that is seasonal that's $32. The whole meal was literally all shell with hardly any meat. And the shell is actually battered to so there's no way to see the shell so my first bite was all bad. So I order a ginger meal with shrimp and bamboo to-go, and I get hardly anything and then when I asked why I'm told because it's not noodles or soup. Not enough food prices too high! except for noodles and soup. I was there with three other people and They said they couldn't believe it they didn't want to believe it but it was all shell and everyone could see it. Also the first thing I asked for was trout and instantly the waitress tried to convince me to get the other fish more popular so then I didn't even want to try the trout or any fish at all. Thai town should have better places for sure. My suggestion is go somewhere else!
The chicken pad thai was bad. No flavor at all. While I was eating it felt like I bit into a small rock or sand .. it was egg shell. Egg rolls and egg roll sweet sauce was good 👍
Over priced food for not great taste, sucks! Don't mind the price of the food if the food was great. Service was slow and not great either. Parking was $8. When the check came for the 4 of us, it was all written in Thai (didnt understand one word) and when we asked after reading the #s, total plus tip 18% after taxes, we asked to confirm if the tip was added, server answered no, and when we showed him the check, right away server said oh yea it is! Not again, HOLLYWOOD Thai!!
This place is very disappointing despite good reviews. It is hit or miss. Mostly miss. Takes too long to put the order in. Sometimes the food is burnt and other times undercooked. Each time I go thinking it will be good this time and it's not.
It was so so for me. I definitely saw a lot of Thai people in and around this place but honestly, it did not remind me of authentic Thai food. I usually have a few items that are very telling of the ability of the cooks when I'm trying a new place. For Thai restaurants, it's either Panang curry, Larb Gai, Tom Kah, and sometimes something as simple as Thai tea. These items will tell me if I want to explore the rest of the menu on the next visit. (Occasionally, I'll go out on a limb and dive into something new in the first visit but I was with a friend and hungry.) So, I went with Panang. First thing was the chicken was very dry. Second, the sauce was broken. I could see the separation as the server sat it down. How anyone could serve that is also telling of the structure of the kitchen. The sauce had the viscosity of water. I guess some people like their Panang thin but I like it thicker. I was hungry, though, so I ate it. It was edible but the gut punch I got in the end was the price!! Couldn't see in the dark but I think it said 18 dollars. For a small bowl of dried up chicken in a broken sauce with no rice. Oh yeah, the server asked me while ordering if I wanted rice. I agreed. Then a different server that brought the food out said I didn't order rice. How rice doesn't come with an 18 dollar bowl of curry is crazy to me regardless, but then that server wouldn't stop asking me if I wanted rice after she already told me I didn't order. I was already annoyed but then she asked me 3 more times throughout the meal. My friend ordered coconut juice, clams, and fried rice. I got my coconut and the top wasn't properly cut so it was a huge struggle trying to get it off. I struggled for a good 5 minutes. You would think a server would've noticed and offered to help but nope. The clams were just so so. It was just oyster sauce with basil. Nothing really special. Probably the best item out of all that we ordered but that's not saying much. The fried rice seemed kind of dry also and didn't have any life to it. It didn't seem fresh, but in the dark, it's kind of hard to see. Unless you are looking for it. I think there's nothing worse then having a very mediocre meal and then getting hit with a big price. It's like having the flu and then someone punches you in the stomach. I'm already ill, don't make it worse with a gut wrenching punch to my wallet. The service was not there. The quality, freshness, and flavor was not there. So, the price was not at all there for me. I would rather eat at Ocha or Thai BBQ which is literally down the street. Both places I've enjoyed before. Sorry, my friend but I can't support a place like this.
Worst service I’ve ever had. Was seated and waited for a very long time before the order was taken. We saw several people who came after us get there food way before us. Then they forgot to give us what we ordered and waited even longer. This was a small group too only 3 of us. Will never come here again. The food isn’t even that good.
We came here for lunch. I we ordered the Pad See Ew. They didn’t have any of the flat noodles so that eliminated almost half the menu. I ended up having to order the curry dish, which does not even a bowl of rice. The bowl of rice was $3 alone. I asked if they could comp the bowl of rice since I couldn’t get my original order and the answer was no. Hospitality is non existent here. Food is okay, overpriced , and service is not great.
The food is good I always go and tip them even if I do carry out. This last time i went I waited an hour for the food and then they still forgot my plate my family was done eating and they still had not brought mine. So I didn’t tip this one and only time also the food tasted and smelled like burnt… the owner quickly followed me and harassed us that we never tip which I always do and I explain why I didnt this time she was making a scene outside will never go back first get the order right, don’t give burnt food and write down the orders of the customers. Poor customer service
It was the worst and most expensive curry I have ever had. The curry was watery and had no flavor other than coconut milk. The chicken was stark white and rubbery. I ordered 2 yellow curry, 2 white rice (because they don't come with rice, apparently), and 1 order of fried potstickers. Why would my order cost $58? Why did they add on a transaction fee of $1.59? Awful. The staff was nice, but the food and the prices are terrible.
Never Again!!! This was my first time at Hollywood Thai, and unfortunately, it was a very unpleasant experience. I witnessed how the server, who claimed to be the manager, was extremely rude and aggressive with my friend over a simple soup and beer order. He even put his hands into my food while arguing – which was completely unacceptable and unhygienic. On top of that, I ordered shrimp tempura to-go for my mom ($18), and when I got home, I was shocked to find only 3 shrimp. The rest was just corn, onion, and random vegetables to fill the box. $18 for 3 shrimp and terrible service? Absolutely not worth it. I won’t be coming back and definitely don’t recommend this place to anyone.
Rude and Unprofessional Service I used to like this place and even recommended it to friends, but my recent visit was terrible. The server (who claimed to be the manager) pressured us to order draft Singha instead of bottled, insisted it tasted the same, and got annoyed when we asked to try it first. We didn’t like it and asked for the bottled version we originally ordered. We ordered Tom Kha with shrimp and got a bowl of coconut milk with 5 shrimp – no other usual ingredients. When we questioned it, the server became aggressive, involved other guests, and even put his hands in our food. They took the soup away to “fix” it but never brought it back. We said we wouldn’t pay for it, but the bill was only reduced by $6. When I asked if he understood English, he started yelling at me, saying I didn’t understand English. Totally unprofessional, disrespectful, and aggressive behavior. I won’t be coming back and don’t recommend this place to anyone.
The Hell Chicken was terrible. In my experience with eating Thai food, the bone is cooked with the chicken in large cuts so that it can be easily peeled from the meat, so I understand leaving the bone on the meat. For This dish the bone and meat are chopped in small bite sizes so it was very difficult to separate the two. Unless the cut chosen was meant to have this much bones. The flavor was there but wrestling with the bones was too much to deal with. pic of bones on my plate. Didn’t even bother to finish. 2nd dish Beef Nam thoc did not have the grill beef flavor but tasted more like a stir fried beef lap. I did not finish this either. However the watercress with crispy pork in garlic sauce was good. The waitress was very nice but I realized she has no control over the cook. I recommend larger cuts so bones can be easily separated or just chicken breast and grill beef nam thoc instead of pan fried
