I attended a wedding at the Mill and this venue was perfect. Very quaint and fun place. The staff were very friendly and Sangria was delicious!
Cool and unique spot. Amazing atmosphere eating outdoors and with a bit of live music (guitarist). The food truck style setup was different and refreshing. This place is perfect for a date night or hosting an event. A lovely spot tucked away in Abilene that my coworkers and I stumbled on, I would definitely recommend.
I’ve always had great experiences at the Mill over the years, and they continue with the new ownership! They’re able to keep the integrity of this long standing establishment, while still bringing new things to the menu and new events to the Abilene community. Couldn’t recommend this place more!
We went to The Mill to celebrate our 9 year anniversary and it set the scene for a perfect evening. Live music, a fantastic atmosphere and great service. The Mill is intimate and perfect for small or large gatherings.
The wine selection is superb. We got a red and a white bottle and both were delicious. The cheese platter was cute and tasty. I did not try anything from the food truck but my friend did. She appeared to enjoy the sandwich and fries. Smelled fantastic. Tyne waitress was attentive and polite. Their was live music. The environment was inviting, friendly, and relaxing.
I have the BEST memories at the Mill! Best ambience out of any place in Abilene to just connect with friends. The food and drinks are amazing, too! I recommend The Mill to everyone visiting Abilene.
My husband and I visit The Mill frequently. We love the atmosphere, live music, and delicious steaks on Thursdays. Great spot for date night!
The Mill is our favorite date night spot! Whether it’s Thursday night steak night, appetizers, or drinks after dinner to kill a little more time while we have a babysitter! The Renner’s are doing an amazing job 🤩
I experienced The Mill for the first time on Saturday. It was actually nice. I loved the atmosphere and the food was really gr8. I might have enjoyed it more had it not been 90+ degrees 😂 but if u like that kind of weather than this is a place for u. As far as me, I'll wait until it's cooler or rainy out 😉
The Mill is a good place to spend a few hours with friends or a date. Renovated from the old "Texas Mill and Elevator company," it is now a fantastic wine bar with a great atmosphere. There isn't a ton of space inside, but ample room outside with numerous tables. Even when the place is packed, there is quite a bit of separation between tables, enough to feel like you have some privacy. The prices are a little expensive (~10$-12$ for a glass of wine) which is to be expected, considering the lack of other similar options in the area, and the quality of the atmosphere. The drink options were sufficient, and they change regularly, anyone should be able to find a beer or wine they enjoy. There are also some limited food options on their menu (over priced for the amount of food received). There is often live music on nights that are open to the public (Wednesday-Saturday, I believe). When I have been there this has been great -not too over bearing or loud. Over all, I am impressed by The Mill. Their drink choices are good, atmosphere (main draw) is amazing, and it is the perfect place to spend some time relaxing and enjoying a night out.
Awesome place. It was cold and all the silos were reserved so my first experience was a little chilly. Plan on going back to try it out when it's warmer. Food truck was outside. Not sure what their food is like. Beverages were good. The entire setup is confusing. Is this a hipster bar or just a casual place to hang out?
We love the new owners and were brought 3 slices of cake for my cousins birthday! Had an excellent time and love the pina colada!
Probably the most Instagram-friendly place in Abilene (and that’s not a bad thing!). The Mill is always a good choice for weekend drinks, the outdoors area is very well decorated and feels cozy no matter where you’re sitting. Also a good spot for live local music!
Great indoor or outdoor setting. Very laid back with live music, grape vines growing right in the dining areas and plenty of shade. The wine choices are awesome and they serve some foods but there is also a food truck with delicious hot food.
Alright, a new city so new restaurant. Got to give this pick to my sexy PYT wife, I think she asked Google. First of they say 'this not ain't fast food", that's true. It's wasn't pack but there were a lot of 10 or more people tables so they were working hard. This is a large restaurant with very very limited parking. We parked 2 blocks away. As you can see once again I forgot food photos, to busy talking and extra spirits....there was three of us. Grilled Chicken Salad, Grilled Chicken Dinner and Chicken Finger Dinner. We had hot sauce and chips for the appetizer. If you like a "sweet" hot sauce this is for you, we don't. We all agree the food was good but the portions were on the small side. The House Margarita and Vodka Martini were tasty. We loved the interior decorations way cool and relaxing. Shout out to the waitress awesome job handling her section and all those people.
The Mill had a minimal amount of people when we arrived at 4:30PM. We all ordered inside for beverages, appetizers, and meals. We had a larger party of about 15 people. We did not reserve a silo. Instead we set on the porch. The food was delicious. People especially enjoyed the deluxe charcuterie board. I ordered the yummy quesadillas. It was a fun evening celebrating friends!
It's all about the atmosphere. In fact, I think the atmosphere makes the food tastes even better, mostly snack foods, but their special even foods are great too. Great wine selection. A wonderful place for Abilene to have for the couples who want a romantic date.
I went tonight and had an amazing time! The food and drinks were outstanding, and the service was even better. This beautiful place offers something for everyone, whether you prefer relaxing outside with live music or enjoying the historic architecture indoors. I can't wait to go back!
Went with a few of my girl friends recently and we had the best time! Live music, great drinks, and a very kind staff! Had so much fun we went back the next night too! Perfect place for a relaxing evening!
I attended a birthday party here. The venue easily accommodated 50 people. A wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. Other times I've been to this place have been very enjoyable, and the selection of charcuterie boards is spectacular!
We have loved going to The Mill for years! The markets, the events, for fun game nights or just to spend time with friends. Definitely a great spot to go to and if you haven’t recently gone you need to see what Karson has done with the place!
I LOVED The Mill as a college student, and love it even more as an adult. The atmosphere is amazing and wine selection is great. I am also a wedding photographer and love how the Mill doubles as a beautiful wedding venue. :)
I LOVE The Mill!!! It was such a great place to go for a more chill atmosphere in college. Drinks were always exceptional and the snacks are AMAZING! They also often have deals or special events which are always so fun. If you need an event for a party The Mill is so accommodating for small and large parties.
Very nice place. There’s a live music too
The only table service is when they bring your ordered food to your table, but for ALL drinks, you have to go inside. Food was good but pricey for what you get. The drinks are moderately priced, though. The atmosphere is definitely what you are paying for!! It is a very tranquil and relaxing space to enjoy drinks with friends. Very cute setting!
My wife & I attended Steak Night at the Mill recently as they re-opened under new ownership & we had a wonderful experience! The food quality & customer service was excellent! And you won't find a better atmosphere than the Mill for a date night, group dinner, or just hanging out with friends & family! Excited about what the new ownership will do at the Mill! Looking forward to our return visits!
Had a blast at bingo and music bingo. Music bingo is my favorite!!!
The mill is a staple in Abilene! The atmosphere is amazing and the staff is so friendly. You can tell this is a family owned business who cares about this place and wants it to thrive. The sangria is amazing. I highly recommend coming here with the intent to sit outside, listen to live music and relax!
Lovely. Extensive wine and cigar menus, broad selection of beers on tap. Cheesecake was good. The outdoor seating area is fantastic. Cozy, but not cramped.
What’s not to love?! The Mill is my husband and I’s go to for date night, bonus points if it’s steak night! They’ve created a wonderful atmosphere that keeps us coming back. The new owners have made several changes, all for the best!
I recently had my wedding at The Mill, I rented “The Warehouse.” First, the place is absolutely gorgeous and needs almost zero decoration, especially if you love that rustic simple feel. They offer charcuterie and dessert boards that are quite large and delicious for the price! The selection of the bar for the event was a wide selection so even my picky guests found something to drink! Second, the staff. They were ALL wonderful! Great people own this place and love what they do and it shows. I will forever have all of my large events at The Mill because I know I will be taken care of. Thank you for a wonderful day!
Had the best time at Bingo @ the Mill! Drinks and food were great. Service was fast and everyone was so helpful and nice. Karson runs a great team here! Highly recommend going on a normal night or for any of their fun events. Reasonably priced and super fun. Thanks for bringing such fun events to Abilene!!! Can’t wait to go back
Had the best time at Bingo. If you have not been, you should go.
I wish I could give this place more stars!! Cannot recommend it enough! A beautiful place for a date night or a hang out with friends - they have something for everyone. I love their Thursday steak nights or stopping by for dessert and drinks later in the evening. The atmosphere is EVERYTHING - their fire pits are so cozy in the winter so don’t count them out when it gets cooler!
I always look forward to going to the Mill! We recently had our 10 year high school reunion at the Mill at it was the perfect place to have it! Drinks are amazing, atmosphere is top notch & intimate, and the food was INCREDIBLE! The new owners have such an attention to detail and truly care about their customers! Can’t wait to have our next date night there on Thursday evening!!
I had so much fun at The Mill last Friday night! The atmosphere and sangria were amazing! This was the perfect place to relax, listen to live music, drink, and hang with friends! I also love getting to support a family owned small business! I will be back! Overall such a good night and I highly recommend!
The mill has the best sangria!! The staff is so nice and very welcoming. I have attended for various events and it's incredible how easily the vibe can transform. 10/10!!
We had the best night tonight at the Mill! The food was great. Super fast service for our steaks. Love the frozen sangria and chocolate cake. The live music was a true highlight! I will be honest we were worried about the heat or having to sit in the sun but lots of shade with awnings and vines. A very pleasant night with my girls! We'll be back.
We always enjoy ourselves at the Mill. The Sangria is always great, steak nights are amazing, and bingo nights are so fun!
Absolutely terrific place for small plates and amazing wine tasting experience inside or outside. Monthly yoga inside the large room adjacent to the winery. Very cool spot with a killer vibe to just chill and sip wine all afternoon or evening. The staff are impeccable. All of the women who run this show are class acts. Professional and kind and knowledgeable. The 4 keg tap wines they have available as well as by the bottle are vast. They even offer a wine bottle tap fill program just like beer growlers but for wine. They also offer a long beer listing with a growler program as well. All round solid place to come and experience if you in town. Military discounts as well! The house sangria is a summer hit I'm sure of this! Try it and see.
The Mill is my husband and I’s favorite date night spot! The atmosphere is so beautiful and relaxing - it does not feel like you’re in the middle of Abilene whatsoever!! If you’re going I definitely recommend trying the sangria swirl, it’s DELICIOUS. We adore the owners and love supporting small, locally owned spots!
I’ve been to the Mill many times including steak night, dance parties, and most recently music Bingo and this place is definitely a gem! Abilene is lucky to have a venue that offers so many events as well as a great place to gather friends!
OMG I drove in from Houston for a night of bingo. This is not your normal little old blue haired lady bingo. I’m so glad I stayed for the music bingo! We rocked out to the best of the 80’s, kicked up our boots to some country, and some newer stuff from 2010s. It was SO much fun to sing-a-long and dance to some really great music! -Amber
I am a local business owner in town and know good service when I see it! That is the experience you will have a The Mill. They are very responsive, and bend over backwards to make sure you are being taken care of! If you are looking for a great wedding venue, an incredible place to take photos, or just somewhere to have a glass of wine - you have found your spot!!
The atmosphere here is everything. Even on a hot day, it’s so pleasant to sit outside in the evening—the vibe is just perfect. The frozen sangria (highly recommend!) is my absolute favorite thing on the menu, and the food is always good too. This is one of the cutest spots for a date night, but it’s just as great for groups, with plenty of seating for any occasion. I was lucky enough to celebrate my friends’ engagement here this past weekend, and I can’t say enough about how the employees and owner stepped up to make it such a special night for them. A true gem in town—highly recommend!
This was our first time to visit The Mill ever. We saw their ad for bingo night, and decided to make it a date night. We had the best time. Even though we were just a couple amongst many large groups we felt very welcome. We sat with another great family of 6 and got to know them a little. Bingo was a blast, Kevin created an awesome atmosphere. The food was good, the drinks were great, the service was fast and super friendly and the vibe was even better. Best of all the prices were reasonable. I can’t wait to go for a steak night. 10/10 would highly recommend!!!
Had so much fun playing music bingo! If you're on the fence about going, just go! You won't regret it and get tickets early cause they sells out. Was a great date night! Also they have good cream soda.
Just had the BEST time playing music bingo tonight!!! Such a fun night and great atmosphere for a date night
their bingo night was one of the funnest things in abilene to experience!! super fun atmosphere, GREAT food, and the sweetest staff!!
Best music bingo. We even roped our hubbies in and they loved it!!
Excellent service and beautiful rustic outdoor seating areas. There are "silos" available to reserve for your party with a fire pit surrounded by seating, great for cool fall evenings. Many different wines and lots of beers on tap as well as food trucks serving most of the week.
Would be a good place for a large group but if under 8 or so a restaurant would be a better place to hang out. Great selection of spirits and impeccable service though. Out door seating is first come first serve but the silos seating and some other out door seating can be reserved for a fee.
Mystery at the Mill - good performance. A bit pricey considering the quality and quantity of the dinner ($75ea, minimum 6 person reserved table: Small slices of roast beef (women got 2, men got 3), 3-4 asparagus stalks, some kind of "shredded fish ball" and small dollop of cold, clotted creamed potatoes), but it was something different to do. Free (price included) wine/spritzers, but you had to pay for a soda or tea. We don't really care for wine, so felt a little miffed about that. I don't regret going, but won't be on the top of my list to go again.
The atmosphere is great, very cute. We went on their steak night and I have to say it wasn't as good as i had hoped. Food just was kind of basic I expected a more elevated level, steak was very fatty and the green beans were just kind of meh the loaded potatoes were the best part of all of it. And their house made sangria was very good!
Great for a dining out with larger groups. It gets very hot in west Texas so try to go around or after sunset. The staff is very friendly and the steak is awesome. Loved the food and the atmosphere! I will definitely come back.
Brought my family one nice for dinner and stayed in one of the silos. Atmosphere was great, foodtruck food was tasty except for the dessert brownies that were too sweet for us. Booked a private event with them and the event manager was so nice, accommodating and patient to all our questions.
They have a great variety of craft beers, and wine. They also have cigars available. Indoor, and outdoor seating. The atmosphere is hard to beat, and the staff is incredible. Don't be alarmed by the industrial area, for there is certainly a gem within.
This place is such a great addition to Abilene. The staff is so pleasant and extremely helpful. The outdoor spaces are beautiful, welcoming and relaxing. The food choices are limited but very good. I recommend eating before arriving but the beer choices are huge. Their wine margaritas are outstanding. Due to the West Texas heat there are days it’s just too hot to be outside so dress for the weather. If the Mill had some strategically placed fans or misters the place would be great any time of the year. Be sure to check their schedule as they are open to the public only on Thursdays through Sundays.
The place was absolutely breath taking! It's great to hang out when they have steak and wine night! However, you have to get there as soon as it opens because they run out of steaks. Beautiful landscape and design of the outside and everything is vintage yet modern. I didn't like how patrons brought their children with them when it's mostly for young and older adults but hey what can you do? I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who hasn't experienced it yet!
We didn't know what to expect. It was our first time going on Thursday night for Steak Night. We ordered salmon and grilled chicken, and they were both cooked perfectly. They said when we pre-ordered that it would take up to 45 minutes before our food would be served and suggested going to the bar for drinks. Although it didn't take that long for the food to come out, it would have been nice to have an appetizer or have our salads before the entree instead of with the entree. The meats were cooked perfectly, and the green beans and cheesy potatoes were good too. I was surprised I even liked the potatoes because normally they're too cheesy for me. All in all, it was a nice evening to eat and chill with friends.
It is very pretty and the staff members are nice. The venue is lovely. There are affordable options but it can get pricey, understandably so. My party loved the food, as a vegan, my options were limited. Overall, a nice night out. Sometimes there was a food wait for food, but not too bad.
It's been on my list for a while now. Nice beer selection, local and distant crafts. The atmosphere was great, the food so-so. The steak was pretty over salted, the sides pretty forgettable. I like seasoned meat but it was a little heavy handed. My wife's was the same so I'm thinking it's a thing. My daughter had the salmon and really enjoyed it. I'll definitely go back and do it again.
Came here with my boyfriend to celebrate our valentines early. There was live music, which ended about 15 minutes after we arrived. I was a little disappointed to sit there in silence for the next hour. The artichoke dip was not enjoyable at all. We were warned that the dip was “spicy”… there was no spice or any good flavors coming from that dip. I’d come back but hopefully receive better quality food. Atmosphere was beautiful.
Limited parking and the area is a little small. The farmers market is nice though. They usually have meat fresh from the farm, freshly picked vegetables, home made bread etc. definitely worth a visit if you’re an early bird.
Rustic place and I have had much better service elsewhere. Stale cigars and overpriced house wine didn’t help. The cigar selection was great but they have no humidity control and every one was dried out. Not a recommendation if you like to socialize, it’s very clickish and has an awkward layout.
Well. This was fun until we saw our waitress out the next morning and she said “Oh, surprised to see y’all out after you ran up such a tab.” First of all, we were there for a special event. For both myself and my date we had one drink an hour. We were there for nearly four hours and only had three drinks. Second, we also ordered food. So, to see our server out the next day and act like she’s all high and mighty for us enjoying a little over a bottle of wine in over four hours? Yeah, that’s a hard no from me. Love the Mill but that was uncalled for and frankly ridiculous. I love would love to talk to management about this but they’re not open today.
I'm sad that they have really messed up the process on steak night. The reservations are easy to make but half the people that had reservations (with confirmation emails) weren't on the list!🤬🤬 And now you have to order your food in the same line as people that are taste testing 6 or 7 different things to drink so the line is very long and slow!! Then waiting for half an hour for them to finally bring any food to the table is ridiculous. I wish they hadn't messed up the old system.
Went to The Mill to celebrate my anniversary, since it has always been great and consistent. However, my experience this time was far from the consistency that am used to. After having such a bad experience I realized it is under new ownership... I have many years experience in the service industry & am usually lenient when it comes bad service, it happens! But it seemed like they had volunteers working rather than trained staff. Not to mention there was what seemed to be a couple arguing behind the bar, extremely distasteful especially on such a special occasion. I also heard, I think maybe the manager ask her employees (volunteers) a few times "if anyone working knew anything", clearly not. And I thought that was really rude to her workers. No one working looked familiar im guessing they cleaned house & replaced them. So sad, we loved the staff in the past. Hopefully this establishment under new ownership can get it together & make the mill what it used to be. Until then I will not be returning.
The venue itself is gorgeous. It's the service we received during our wedding that was the issue. The venue event coordinator was nice up until the day of the wedding. She watched our wedding party like a hawk. 1st issue: the bridal suite in the upstairs area of the warehouse section either doesn't have A/C or it didn't work properly the day of our wedding. 2nd issue: we brought our own cigars. The event coordinator told us they sell cigars and cigars could be smoked outside. Once she saw us smoking cigars with a butane torch lighter (anyone who smokes cigars knows this is a common lighter to use for cigars) she said that it was a fire hazard and why couldn't we just use matches. Thankfully one of my groomsmen informed her that it would take a whole book of matches to light ONE cigar. 3rd issue: Our wedding party was accused twice of bringing in outside alcohol. Never happened. My best man was given a flask (it was empty) He had sat it on the table while we were smoking cigars when the event coordinator came to question us about our use of a torch lighter. We had children in our bridal party so they had Hawaiian punch upstairs for the kids to drink. Our wedding party got accused of drinking up there too. 4th issue: While maid of honor was upstairs in the bridal suite getting everything picked up and moved out the event coordinator went upstairs and started questioning her saying "you do realize this has to be all picked up and put back the way you found it, right?". Then started questioning her about the Hawaiian punch we had for the kids. 5th issue: We opted for a cash bar. I didn't think that opting for a cash bar with LITERALLY mean a cash bar where no one could use a card and open a tab. Therefore ALL of our guests instead utilized the main bar. They shut down the bar inside the warehouse down SUPER early because of this. There were other issues we had with how customer service was handled but I'm not going to continue to drill home every little thing that was said or done. I worked head of security for a major bar/event venue in Fort Worth. I have never seen customer service this awful. Especially if we had a couple that just shelled out $2500 to rent out a portion of our venue. We were not rowdy. We were respectful and courteous with the staff of The Mill. We did not receive the same level of respect back. Again the venue was beautiful. But the customer service needs to be worked on IMMENSELY. Therefore until they get these things handled I would NOT recommend holding your wedding at this venue.
The Worst and Rudest service I have had in Texas. I was here about a year ago and swore I would never be back. Breaking my own rules I went there again. It was 30 minutes before I got a menu, and another 30 minutes before I ever got a drink. That was the last we ever saw of our waiter. I got another waitress so I could pay my tab and leave. I mentioned the bad service to her and she only replied "Oh Well." I seriously doubt that this place is even managed at all since no one who works there seems to care about the patrons in the least. Amazingly it was worse than the last time I was there. I didn't think that was possible. Seriously, its not worth the time or price.
I went for my fiancé’s birthday. She and all her friends are 23-24. Not one of them was ID’d which was very odd nor should be acceptable. Everyone should need to be ID’d unless you are not giving alcahol. Their drinks did not seem to have any alcohol. We carry our own breathalyzer to make sure everyone is okay to drive and every person who drank from the mills sangria blew a 0.00. The one person who drank before showing up consistently blew a 0.6 which aligned with how many prior drinks they had. The Mill insisted that their drinks had alcohol but after 4 bottles and multiple personal drinks not one of the 4 girls even felt buzzed which raised questions. We were told by the three (maybe 18-20yr olds at the front service) that the there was most definitely alcohol in the drinks, but after $135 in drinks not a single buzz was caught. I highly advise that you go anywhere else for alcoholic beverages. Decent atmosphere but terrible drinks and service.
Long story short, DO NOT schedule an event here. My fiancée paid to take her bridal photos at the venue - with the agreement being that she would get totally EXCLUSIVE access. Just her, her photographer, and the bridesmaids that came along. So you’d expect that to be what she got, right? WRONG. She shows up ready to take her bridal photos, and instead there’s a big group of people setting up for an event happening later that night. They decided they would come early and setup, and the management just let them right on in to bring all of their equipment and set things up. So, now during the hour that my fiancée was supposed to get exclusive access to the venue to take all the photos she wanted in her wedding dress, now they have to tiptoe around equipment and ask the group setting up early to move their things around. For what should have been an amazing experience taking photos in her wedding dress, was now incredibly inconvenient, uncomfortable, and just awkward situation. While my fiancée made do and was able to take some photos and enjoy her time, because of poor communication and irresponsible choices by management the Mill went back on what they promised to my fiancée and what she PAID for. Surely you’d expect them to reimburse her right? No of course not. So, now here I am forced to write and review about how terrible of a time it is to try to have an event like this through them. If you’re a bride looking to take photos here, let me save you some time. FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE, or else there’s a great chance you won’t get what you pay for and get nothing in return. Disappointed is an understatement.
It may be a great place for an event but their customer service sucks and they have questionable business practices. Our daughter paid a large amount for exclusive use of the venue for a photo shoot. When she arrived, the wedding party she was told wouldn't arrive for three more hours was there and she had to work around them to get photos taken. When she contacted the management, she was essentially told, "well, you got your pictures." They refused to refund any of her money and stopped responding to her. They suck!
