In our year and change living in Oakland we've tried to eat and drink at as many restaurants and breweries as we could and I have to say Cellarmaker is one of my absolute favorite places here. We came casually to grab a beer the first time but ended up getting pizza, and I was instantly hooked. The pizza is just soooo good. Im an equal opportunity pizza eater so I'm not partial to any particular type, but this Detroit style with the crunchy cheesey crust omg. Just a pepperoni is perfect, and the oyster Rockefeller special pizza they had last year I still dream about. They also make a shockingly amazing bean salad and great wings. I also like that there's something for everyone to drink. Lots of beer options of course (amazing funky sours), good wine, kombucha, even hot tea. There's a nice dog-friendly patio and the service is always excellent. Writing this review because I'm thinking about the pizza even though I already ate dinner today. I can't wait to come back again soon!
Nice ambiance place to have a beer. I haven’t had their pizza yet. I love American Barleywines but the barleywines here and dark beers are usually a tad bit too sweet for me. But I had a recent dark beer called coffee and cigarettes which was awesome. Look forward to coming here again.
I recently stopped in before going to a show in Oakland. I’ve been to the S.F. location many times, but it was my first time in. Theo took really good care of me. He was professional, efficient and friendly. He even helped me find a t-shirt and hoodie. I highly recommend visiting and will be back the next time I am in Oakland! The Bacon & fig pizza and Coffee & Cigarettes pudding were amazing! Thank you for making my visit special Theo!
Wow pizza was 10/10! I will certainly return once I'm back in Oakland. Lots of beer choices too!
Great environment, friendly service, Detroit-styke pepperoni pizza, and an impressive beer selection. Worth a visit if in the East Bay.
Great place to have a beer! Came here with the wife before a concert and it was packed on a Saturday night. They have Excellent beers on tap. I was Excited to try their Detroit pizza but the name sounded better than it actually tasted. It was just okay! Meatballs were a lot better. Big projector for sports games. Stop in for their excellent beer.
Highly recommend their brie and hot honey pizza! It also comes with Asian pears and pistachio. The crust was simply amazing.. why can't all crusts be like this?! My partner doesn't like crusts at all, but she wouldn't stop complimenting it. Also ordered their coffee & cigarettes, which is a smoked coffee porter. Recognized St. Frank since we had it back in SF.
Had dinner and drinks at cellarmaker with a few friends. The food is amazing and the drink selection is great as well. We had the Caesar salad, pepperoni bar pizza, and the sungold burrata Detroit style pizza which we added sausage to (pictured). We will 100% be going back! Every bite was thoroughly enjoyed!!
Great space, out of this world pizzas. Hot honey & brie bar pie is the best thing they have on their menu at the moment, in my opinion. I like the option to order everything at the table via QR code, it means no time spent waiting in line and more time for socializing with friends.
It's about time I wrote a review...we've been here 4 times now, including the pre-opening March 11, & have loved it every single time. First...as sad as I was that the original Blue Bottle closed here, it was met with astonished glee that it would be Cellarmaker replacing it. We all know that we don't have to worry if there's going to be a deep, dark, barrel-aged stout on the menu. Yes. The answer is Yes. What's really nice is the eclectic food menu. To fill up it's probably a pizza you want. I adore the bar-style because it's extra thin and crispy. Hubby loves the Detroit style, so we're both happy. There's also sharing plates that we've ordered (I think they change periodically) which have been good as well... Finally, the service is always GREAT. In this world of ordering via QR codes, they make sure to ask you if you'd like help or want them to order anything for you etc. I sooooo appreciate this. Plus even the newbies are totally into it. Last time I was there a new guy brought me my stout and he had only just learned about the world of stouts when he started working there. Can you imagine? You never knew about stouts and Cellarmaker is where you start? He'll be ruined for life...never ever to be able to drink a Founder's or Prairie or Guiness or any lesser-than. Anywhoo...you'll be seeing me many more times, Cellarmaker Oakland!
This establishment is a new Brewery in the Jack London Area. They've only been open about 5 to 6 months. The atmosphere is super chill and welcoming. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The beer tenders are pretty chill and knowledgeable of what this business has to offer. The food menu is to die for. The SHORT RIBS is a must, and if you like POLENTA, you'll love the POLENTA FRIES. They have an amazing roster of beers and wines that will crush the pallet and leave you waiting more. Overall, I give it a solid A... I will definitely be revisiting and bringing more guests..
I don’t really like Brewery’s but Cellar Maker sold me with the beer tender, I believe the bartenders name was Ivy. She was very lively, and I swear that made the beer taste better. Definitely recommend. If 6 stars existed this Bar is definitely worth it!
Quality brewery offering quality IPAs and other brews. Going beyond usual brewery food is the savory pizza with tomato sauce and the corn gazpacho.
Nice place with terrific beers (IPAs, Pilsners, Pale Ales, Porters, Stouts, Sours, ...), wine, cider, and food. Enjoyed the Guava Happens (Fruited Sour), Coffee & Cigarettes (Smoked Coffee Porter), Pepperoni Pizza, and Elote Pizza. Left a back seat down so it was clear there was nothing of value in the car/trunk.
Friendly staff and excellent beer. Hoping they’ll come up with a better system for seating and drinking in the bar area and that they’ll add additional guest taps. The bar pie was a perfect snack between meals for my part of 4. Looking forward to trying their Detroit style with vegan cheese
amazing brewery with excellent beer, wine, hard seltzer and other libations selections. the food here is incredible. Detroit style pizza highly recommended.

The pizza is a 10/10, great vibe
Best veggie pizza I’ve ever had
Solid Detroit pizza and great ciders!
Nice place good service I would recommend coming here beers and pizza fire
Best in the biz! Fresh beer board every week 😊
Excellent beers, tasty pizza, nice environment
I like them. They're nice.
Beer, food, service, ambiance. Everything is great!!
If you like Detroit style Pizza, Cellarmaker is a must
Great beer, great food, relaxed atmosphere
Love this place and the beer...try it.
nice outdoor space and good beers!
Reco Pizza and bourbon blamma
Loved the cigarettes and coffee porter.
Great beer!! Great Pizza!!
Great location, food, and beer
The best beers in the bay.
Super tasty food and good beer! The Caesar salad was the BEST I've ever had, and I've had many over the last few years. The dressing was flavorful without being overly anchovie-ey, and the croutons were nice and crispy without being too hard to actually bite down on. My fiance and I also loved the wings (the skin was nice and crispy and the buffalo sauce was great) and thought the spicy Hawaiian pizza was unique and well made. I also thought my pilsner was great-- I'm not a fan of hoppy beers, and this pilsner was perfectly crisp and clean. Overall our experience here was great and I'm excited to come back soon!
I go here about once a month, often for cheat day. Its cheat day good. 3rd and 4th best pizza ive ever eaten (detroit and bar style respectively). Most stylish bathroom ive ever seen. Immaculate vibes. I say the following constructive criticism with only love: Worst cloth unabsorbent plastic microfibery napkins in the universe. Like wiping my face with a laminated sheet of paper. But they are happy to provide very nice thick papery napkins on request so its chill :) Everyones awesome and you will walk away very full and very happy.
Bravo 🙌
I never write reviews but this place is so good. We came here on a whim after work and got the tomato salad and wings and they were both soo good. Wings are HUGE. Excited to come back.
Back here again. I come weekly and they’ve really locked in their service (not that it was ever bad!). Yes, it’s QR code unless you’re at the bar, but 1) you can just order with anyone you see and they don’t mind and 2) the beer and food delivery is consistently quick. So grateful to have this in the hood; I’ll keep supporting.
Jesus the deep dish pepperoni was insane. Best slice I’ve had around the bay plus there’s a beer on tap you’ll like. Just ask the barkeep what they recommend. I’m hooked
Crazy good pizza and bites!! Great staff!!
Pizza is amazing. The black bean hummus has the best plantains I've ever tasted. Glad they have a location in Oakland now.
Great new add to the neighborhood! Different from the other local breweries: 1. More food options 2. plenty of indoor/outdoor seating (Check in with hostess) 3. different size options for beer
Tasty beers, AND delicious food!!?? Yes and yes! What's that? Now there's a Friday lunch special??!!! I mean, twist my arm, I guess I'll be back every week.
Beertender Ivy was super helpful and their recommendations were great! Definitely a great addition to the ambiance!
Good food and good beer. Great service.
This is a neighborhood fav. It’s safe, charming, excellent food, big screens for games, and comfortable all-ages atmosphere. Staff is consistently nice too!
Great beer. Clean and great atmosphere.
Excellent spot for a beer and pizza.
This new location is really nice. It's much larger than the old SF one. Lots of seating and a big beer menu. I liked it.
Nice assortment of beers (thanks for having a few red/brown options)! Friendly service with a nice patio and spacious inside seating as well.
Great Detroit style pizza and delicious IPAs. Loved it!
Great beer and amazing pizza. The best of everything you need.
Great Detroit Style pizza oh can't forget the great beers damn.
Excellent food and beer, friendly staff. One of my favorite spots to come for lunch or drinks.
great food , great fOod, great beer selection, dog Kid and cat friendly projection tv multiple bath rooms in door and Outdoor seating
Pizza and beans are great
I ate here a week ago and it was a very memorable experience, our server Ivy was very attentive and caring. When some of our party had gotten thirsty because it was a beautiful and hot day. I was able to flag Ivy down and they immediately came over and helped us quench our thirst with another round of water. Ivy was also extremely knowledgeable about the rotating taps and brews. I felt safe and cared for knowing my beer selection had a professional prescribing me their best. Thanks for the great time hoping to be back soon.
First off, I LOVE Cellarmaker beer, so that makes this easy. Their hoppy offerings are top 5 in the State for me. The food is no after thought. The pizza is wonderful— the Detroit style is fluffy and crispy, the Bar Style pies are the epitome of cheese crunch. The restaurant is beautiful and I always look a good peek at the brewery gear. This post was made in connection with a Toast promotion
Appreciate the service I'm having today, it's been an enjoyable time with friends and coworkers. Appreciate today's staff. I believe the names were Ivy & Cleo or Theo & also the back staff as well as the cooks. Give my appreciation 🙏🏾
We had a caesar salad and their seasonal autumn harvest salad that was great. The casear was pretty typical but the autumn harvest salad was awesome. We also grabbed 3 pizzas including the red top, mushroom, and porky fig. Out of the three, the red top was the best. The tomatoes were very fresh and you could taste some acidity from the tomatoes in the pizza. I liked the mushroom pizza next and the porky fig was good but not quite what I was expecting. They are detroit style pizzas so they are on the thicker side but they are great. Overall, a little pricey but good stuff.
Heck yeah, a Cellarmaker in the East Bay! Great location, central to Jack London, good bars, and breweries nearby but not a ton of great pizza options like this place. Service is chill because you can order via QR for the table, so good for groups and splitting. I’ve been to their original location over 3 times now and have always loved their pizza and beer selection, but I was not as pleased with this location. The Detroit-style pepperoni was burned, in hindsight maybe we should have said something, but it just wasn’t edible on the outside since it was way overcooked. It’s usually got a nice burn on the outside of the melty cheese, but this was hard as a rock, I just couldn’t eat the crust. A bummer because that’s typically the best part. The birria was good but the sauce that it came with was insanely spicy. The pizza needed a little bit of spice, so I added a healthy amount, expecting it to be like a typical hot sauce but this thing blew my socks off and nearly ruined the pizza. When I only added the tiniest amount, it was great, but usually when you give that much sauce, you’d expect it to be more medium, not super-hot. Not a big deal, but just a note. The flavor was awesome though, just not well-balanced. Good beer selection and it would be cool to have some more non-alcoholic options like a non-alch beer, but the hop water was cool to see on the menu and was tasty. I would still come back and give this place a try but hope they can be more aligned with their SF location.
The burrata pizza and chicken wings were very tasty. We got a salad that was a bit too bitter. Service was okay. We sat outside with doggos and workers barely came outside besides bringing food out. I didn't try their beer this time
Good beer, decent food, friendly service. Bar and booth seats, right across from the brewing operations. Location is industrial and somewhat rundown but there are many other breweries around here, including Original Pattern.

Very good! Excellent service. Feel like pizza is a smidgen better in mission.
First time trying Cellarmaker and I really like their "Coffee & Cigarettes," which is a Smoked Coffee Porter. It's a lightly smoked coffee porter made with a touch of German beechwood smoked malt, as well as high-quality English malts to create a chocolaty, roasty base beer. They then add two pounds of Sightglass Colombian Finca la Granada coffee per barrel for an intense but refined coffee character. I also enjoyed their "Czech GPT," a Czech-Style Pale Lager.
Beer and pizzas are very good. Service was friendly when ordering. Come well before closing time to avoid all the spraying of tables, stacking of chairs, dimming of lights and closing of the big garage door that happens in the 15-20 minutes leading up to closing time. Makes you feel a bit rushed to leave.
Have been three times. First time. was opening weekend. We brought outside food (was used to their old pub on Howard st where outside food is allowed). Realized they have full food menu, but host said outside food was okay and sat us. We were instantly sweated about our food and were told no outside food. We explained we were told it was okay. They let us stay and enjoy our meal and had a few beers. Second time. Picked up beer to go and was a great and friendly experience. Third time. Took my son for pizza and beer. We new they closed at 9pm. Got there about 7:45pm and figured we would have enough time. Ordered a couple beers, then ordered food shortly after (maybe 8:15 at the very latest). We drank our beers and ordered another round. By this time it was getting close 9:00 and everyone around us had eaten their food and wrapping up. asked our server to make sure our order was in. He said it was. It came out another 5-10 minutes later. We were enjoying our meal but around 9:15 staff was flashing lights and closing the place down soon after we got our food. It was kind of a bummer. We did our best to be quick and finish up. We’re sympathetic with the staff and know they want to be done for the day, but felt like our food was delayed and then we were rushed to get out of there. Staff was extremely nice though, but did offer to go boxes while we’re clearly still eating, but said “no rush.” Felt like we were getting all the signals to leave although it was only 9:15 Pizza was really good (except the pesto was globbed super lemony. Anyone else get that?) The beer is what will bring me back. Always have been a fan ever since their beginnings on Howard st. And still love them for that. Cheers.

Beer was great as it always is with Cellarmaker. Service was good. Giving it three stars as the food was just lazy. The "stone fruit" salad had almost no fruit in it and was completely missing arugula. The pizza was undercooked and underwhelming. I'll give it another shot as I love the brewery and the pizza at SF location was always impressive, but for now it's missing the mark on food.
Very disappointed; cannot call yourself “house of pizza” and serve what tasted like reheated pizza. We ordered the divorciado and a couple of appetizers. The appetizers were decent.
waitress was very inattentive. she was chatting with a friend at the bar, eating chips behind the bar and playing cards. had to figure out how to order and walk card up to pay when i was finished.. when paying was given choice of 20% 25% or 30% tip? For real.? for what? Had the chicken pot pie ....was only provided with a spoon which would've been fine if you could cut the "pie crust" with a spoon, but that was not possible. Had to pick the chewy, dough disc up and eat it with my fingers. disappointing.
Was already a bit dubious about it, but couldn't resist ordering the prominently featured softshell crab sandwich. While bun and slaw were fresh and good, what they give you for meat is a few strips of spindly, fried softshell crab legs. No crab to be found really. So basically you get a few bites of bun, slaw and spicy/salty batter. Saddest meal I've had in a looooong time. If the argument is they'd have to charge $30 or more to get this right (probably so, actually).... don't have it on the menu at all then. On the bright side, they haven't forgotten how to make great beer.
Beer - amazing Food - amazing Staff/service - great! Location - lawless mad Max style hell hole. DO NOT PARK ANYWHERE AROUND HERE. Car broken into mid day right in front of the place with nothing visible in the car, people everywhere. Oakland is just a terrible terrible place.
Rude waiters and too hip for your average barfly. No table available if you just want to enjoy a beer. You've got to order food otherwise you are relegated to the bar stool facing their brewing vats. Beer is of barely average quality. Bring back Blue Bottle!
Solid beer. But watch out for rude service. Three instances in one visit where clearly the team working there was miserable. And passing it on to the customers. Kind of lame. Beer is supposed to be fun. Lighten up team at Cellarmaker Oakland.
beer really good but parking cost me 500 since i got my window smashed right outside on camera and the manager didn’t do anything!!
