I love this place! Really tasty & authentic Mediterranean food! My partner & I ordered & split the Persian Kebab plate which goes great with mango chutney, plus a large bowl of split pea soup. Way more than both of us can eat. The pita is homemade; so fluffy & tasty! I’ve had the falafel on previous visits and also very tasty.
Had a very yummy lunch here. The chicken and hummus were very tasty and the warm pita bread was some of the best pita bread I’ve had. I wish they included more than one slice. Falafel 🧆 balls were crunchy and tasty as well.
i’ve been meaning to come here for YEARS and i’m so glad i finally got to try it. the portion sizes were huge and everything was delicious! :-)
Food was delicious! I got the falafel pita and the Israeli salad. I unknowingly got here during happy hour and my pita was half off! Beautiful outside seating! The only downside for me, is that they don’t take cash payments.
This place is amazing!! Seriously good food & vibes. Everything was fresh and delicious in massive portions. I got the shawarma salad this time.
Great food. Very tasty , lovely pita , great schwarma and falafel.
I've wanted to try Hummus Bodega for quite some time based on all the positive reviews. I asked my friend to accompany me. She is Jewish on one side of her family. Hummus Bodega's corner location on Geary may seem unassuming at first glance but the space quickly warms up one you enter and start studying the simple overhead menu. I ordered the Shawarma Plate and my friend requested the Falafel sandwich with fries. I also ordered an additional side of hummus because the Yelp pictures of it looked so creamy and good! I also tried an in-house lemonade beverage. We were utterly blown away by everything we ate. My friend exclaimed, "I've never had Tel Aviv food before. This place is incredible!" she even commented that the French fries were the best she had ever eaten. I am fortunate that I can visit San Francisco on a regular basis. I cannot wait to return to Hummus Bodega to try even more of the menu items especially the crispy chicken and the fried eggplant. This casual cafe is definitely worth the cross-town drive or MUNI bus ride no matter where you are staying in the City!
Love this place, best hummus in the city, and their pita bread is SO fluffy (my favorite kind). Online you can read about their intentional hiring as well (Richmond Sunset News).
This meal was unbelievable! One of my all time favorite “lowkey” vibe meals in SF to date. Walked in around noon on a weekend and started off empty to quickly get packed with no seating left within a half hour. The eggplant sabich was quite literally phenomenal. The eggplant itself was incredibly well done and all the vegetables and tahini were perfectly crisp. My husband said the hummus bowl was also delicious and wonderfully creamy. We were wrapping up and went to thank the staff for a wonderful meal, alongside grabbing an extra hummus to take home, and the cashier was so delighted that he treated us to a dessert on the house. To think the halva mousse was ridiculously creamy and yet non dairy was phenomenal, highly recommend giving it a try. Totally a must try place and we’ll definitely be back
From the very first bite, I knew I had stumbled into something extraordinary. Hummus Bodega isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a flavor-packed journey through the Middle East, served with soul, heart, and a whole lot of tahini. Everything felt deeply authentic — like the kind of food you'd get in a bustling Tel Aviv market or from your Israeli grandma's kitchen. The portions were incredibly generous; we all left full and completely satisfied. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy, and as a bonus, they brought us free za’atar pita bites that were warm, flavorful, and addicting. We ordered a variety of hummus bowls, each one slightly different in topping and seasoning, and every single one was absolutely delicious. You can tell how much thought and care goes into crafting each dish — no shortcuts, just pure flavor. Even the split pea soup — my dad’s go-to order at every restaurant — was a knockout. Creamy, comforting, and full of depth. It’s rare to find a place where even the side soup gets that much love. Hummus Bodega is the real deal. If you're in San Francisco and crave something authentic, warm, and unforgettable — this is where you need to be. Run, don’t walk!!!

Literally ate here for 3 meals in 2 days this place was THAT GOOD 🤤🤤 Hummus is unbelievable, shawarma incredible, falafel may be the best falafel I’ve ever had and schnitzel was delicious. Will be going back anytime I’m in SF!
Have used Hummus Bodega for catering a few times. Excellent Customer service (including delivery); creamy Hummus, the Pita is exceptional. Love the eggplant too. Great Value. Will definitely use again.
We've been ordering catering for our winery crew for the last few months. Every delivery is a total breeze with clear communication and always on time! The food arrives as if it were just sent out from the kitchen. The pita sandwiches are never soggy and the french fries are crispy and absolutely delicious.
We ordered Hummus Bodega for a small reception of about 15-20 and the food was absolutely amazing! The team helped us create a perfect menu, and realistically even the food for 20 could've comfortably fed at least 30% more people. They were also kind, timely, flexible - but again, most importantly, the food was seasoned to perfection and scrumptious! Highly recommend :)
If you're looking for a tasty and filling bite, look no further. Tucked away on the corner of the avenue, is a wonderful bodega with friendly service and good vibes. While feasting on shwarma, we listened to an eclectic mix of music. Everything from klezmer to La Cucaracha. The shwarma was delicious and the fries were cooked to perfection, perfectly crisp. The pita was fluffy and served warm, making it the perfect vessel for the shwarma. I left with a full tummy and my evening made.
The food was authentic and phenomenal, we had falafel, kufta kabob, schnitzel and swarma with fries, salad, pickles, and if course hummus. I guess we ordered the whole menu and ate the whole thing. Good size portions, quick service and kid friendly. Will definitely go back next time I'm in the area.
I had an order delivered from Hummus Bodega for 40 person for a corporate event. Food was delicious, arrived on-time and warm and everyone loved it. We got everything in nice trays ready to serve. I recommend it for any corporate event too !
Absolutely wonderful! The staff are super helpful and kind… and the food is fantastic. The falafel is excellent.. great taste and perfect texture.. the best I’ve had outside of NYC. Pickles and hummus are spot on! Pita is fresh and fries and crispy chicken are perfectly crispy without being greasy at all. Bless You All!
The best Israeli food on the west coast. We got a catering order from here and the Pita was so fluffy, the Hummus was delicious, the crispy chicken schnitzel was mouthwatering, and the Falafel was the best I've ever had outside of Israel. Highly recommend ordering from Hummus Bodega to cater your next event!

Came for dinner and got a shawarma pita. Overall it tasted very good but my one problem with it was that for the first couple bites all I got was a mouthful of just the onions and other stuff on top. The fries were very crispy and good but maybe could've used a touch more salt. The location itself is a bit small inside so it's not necessarily great for bigger groups to try to dine in. Overall good experience.
Had a good experience at this place. Seating was very limited with dinky chairs that were not very comfortable. We got there early to beat the lunch rush and it filled up quickly afterwards. The pea soup was so delicious and they were nice to let me taste test before deciding on what to order! They have a “self serve” water station that makes things more convenient for visitors, however the limited space and crowded layout makes it difficult for people to actually get their own water without getting into the way of other patrons. The hummus bowl was yummy but felt was a bit expensive for what it was. Overall, had a positive experience.

We did a takeout yesterday. Things were mostly ok including the taste and the quantity of food just felt slightly on the expensive side but I found this thing in my pita sandwich. Safety hazard 😢😢
