New favorite sushi place in Alameda. Great selection, fresh ingredients, friendly staff and wonderful service! 10/10
Friendly staff, quiet and cozy ambiance. Sashimi is fresh and the rolls are delicious. The veggie udon is excellent!
We ordered bento boxes and sushi for dinner. Everything tasted great and the sushi fish was fresh. We’ll be coming back for take-out again!
This is my favorite sushi place in the entire East Bay. The service is great the prices are reasonable and the food is fresh. No fake crab here.
Lovely, quiet, dark, perfect! <3 For some reason, rarely busy (off Park street, maybe?) Which is insane, because it's sooo good. Enjoy it!
food is delicious and the staff are very nice. will be coming back
Great sushi, good prices and service. The food was fresh and tasty
Big portions of food. Sushi is fresh. I recomend trying the picy pork and spicy chicken. Friendly and quick service.
Love this place. Best freshness, portions, price and ambience. Best sushi in Alameda
Good quality fish, excellent appetizer. Friendly, attentive service. Overall very, very good.
Love this place. Wonderful people, comfy seating. Bento box before 3pm is a deal!
Great sushi spot, always fresh. We sit at the sushi bar and ask what's fresh.... Never disappointed
Always great... wonderful service, nice sized portions, fresh and delicious.
Low-key awesome island sushi. Our new go-to. Saba portion was generous and fresh.
Very nice Japanese restaurant. Service was good. Food was excellent. Portions were generous and reasonable for Japanese cuisine. We consider this a "find" and we'll be back.
With all of the Sushi Places around Sakura is often overlooked, and wrongly so. Sakura is one of the best sushi restaurant in Alameda. They are rarely crowded but they should be! Had a Great anniversary dinner there !
Chose to celebrate Mother's Day with my boyfriend's auntie Jolene. Love it here. Cozy, friendly staff and affordable price.
I like this Sushi Restaurant, owner is super nice and good service, I ordered Hamachi Sashimi , and Tuna Salad, Tuna sashimi, all are fresh and the price is fair. Will order again
Great prices, wonderful staff, quality rolls. I prefer sakura over sushi house any day. It is way less crowded, has way better service, and their bento boxes are a much better value.
This is my 1st ever restaurant review because I love Sakura. Michelle and the chefs are the nicest around and the fish is always top quality and fresh. Nicely redecorated too!
The staff is nice and the food is delicious. Reasonable rates as well. Recommend the udon. Proud to say the owners are my family. :) :) :)
Loved it here! Staff was very kind and friendly. Ordered tons of food and sake and it was all amazing. Will be returning!!
Staffs were friendly and attentive. Place was very quiet when we went. Pork ramen was very tasty! The tastiest I have tried in the east bay so far. Boyfriend also liked the chicken ramen but pork was really good. Will definitely come back again
I just got back from Japan and the quality and presentation of the food I had was amazing. The whole family was happy and the prices were more than fair.
Great food. Super friendly and attentive staff. Their sushi never disappoints. Comfortable and casual atmosphere.
This is an excellent family run restaurant that optimizes why Alameda is such a fun place. The food and atmosphere are always great, and when you just want a place you can be your go to, definitely pick Sakura.

Great place. Comfortable, good sizeable menu, nice people, and very reasonable prices. If you're considering it, just go - you won't regret it.
Great that they are open on Sunday evenings when so many others are closed on Sundays. We had a lot of rolls, and they were all wonderful and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere in a modern setting, with lots of tables and warm lighting.
It has good prices, great food, and the server is always nice. I go here all the time. It's good.
Place is cozy, people who work there are lovely and attentive. Most importantly the food was great, carefully plated, and not too expensive. Great for a chill night out if you just feel like eating some good Japanese food.
The staff were super nice and everything was tasty. Clam miso soup was great as well as the tuna rolls. Definitely recommend if you’re in Alameda and want sushi!
I am very picky about Japoneses place. This place became my favorite Japanese restaurante in Alameda. The food is very taste and well made, service is amazing, and a plus on the ambience. I’ve been here quite a few times and tried other options to now say this will be the place to always go when desiring The Japanese food. I love the seafood salad!
A nice place with attentive service and good food. Most of the usual dishes including sushi and sashimi but you can also get rock of lamb. Not kidding, that's how it's listed on the menu. Two baby lamb chops done to order. Excellent. If you're going for sushi try the topiko with quail egg as a last course. Medium priced.
It’s look not big place, but owner super nice, and super nice services, the Sashimi so fresh and good tastes, the price is low than other Sushi restaurants. I ordered Spicy Tuna roll and Hamachi Sashimi and Tuna. Super fresh.
This is my second time eating here and I came back because the food and hot sake is delicious. Definitely looking forward to my next visit. Also the staff are sweet and attentive.
Best veggie fried rice! Please support then! They have been opened for a long time but it would be nice to see more customers! They have known my family since I was a teenager. I like their chicken katsu and tonkatsu and takoyaki!
A great place with truly great people. I worked in Alameda for seven years and went regularly, always enjoyed chatting with Sonny and Michelle as well as the excellent food (the seafood salad is addictive, and the salmon "pizza" is a really fun dish). My work moved away and I just went back for the first time in two years, and they remembered me and greeted me by name. Really sweet, and truly caring people, who care about their customers and the food they serve. Wish I could still go every week!

The sushi was pretty good, especially for the price! It was a chill environment, easy to talk
A nice option for dinner, Tempura, ramen, udon. The food is fresh and good. The service was pretty quick and responsive, the prices were very good too.
Try the Godzilla roll if you want something hot and spicy! No spicy tuna tempura roll but still awesome.
The sushi was fresh and we had a quiet environment. The prices were reasonable for great portions. I will be going back 👍🏾
The sushi here was really good. The staff was nice. The food was great and the whole experience was good. I will be going back here!
Great service. Very good food... I don't give out 5 stars unless it was exceptional... im not a millennial... not everything is "amazing" 4 stars is much better than average.... but I'll leave room for improvement... because 5 stars means perfect. Nothing is perfect.
Very nice selection. Some classics some new flavours. The food was fresh and tasty. I wish they would serve the sake on ice how it’s supposed to be. The menus needs a refresher or to be cleaned.

It's ok. New owners had expanded the size of the restaurant. The new owners are Cantonese. The menu was like any regular restaurant. The sushi was good. The tempura was mediocre. It was hot and oily. I don't think it was double fried. It lacks the lightness of a tempura. When the bill came, they charged us for 2 soups. Normally, in the authentic Japanese restaurant, the soup and salad came with the dinner. We did not ask for the soup. That's why I left with a 3 star instead of 4.
the service is fantastic and the prices are quite decent but unfortunately decent is all we could say about the food. the sushi is forgettable, the only real variety is in the rolls and those are also fairly monotone and "safe". plus the atmosphere is diner-like and extremely basic. Sushi House at the other end of Park Street has similar food but a more fun atmosphere at least and we don't go there either. there's just too much better Japanese fare in the East Bay.

Won't show me a menu when I asked several times to check prices. The food was good.
I was very excited to try out Sakura for a special evening of Sunday night take-out with my wife; sadly, we were very disappointed with the quality of the maki rolls. We ordered ~ 5 different maki rolls (several of them speciality rolls), ranging from the over cooked and "fishy" Lion King roll to the underwhelming Unagi rolls. The vegetarian spring rolls were a welcome appetizer, but the veggie gyoza was not up to snuff. Looks like we will continue our exploration for quality sushi on the island.
The Uni tasted like it was several days old. This being my favorite dish it disappointed me greatly. The service was slow to react to our needs. The rest of the food was good.
Ordered pick up from this place. They packaged the sake don (salmon over rice) in the same container with the salad and dressing, which spread to the rice and salmon. Not sure why they did not package it separately? I don't know about other people, but I do not like salad dressing on raw salmon. Also the ginger and wasabi was covered by the salad/dressing they packed together, so I unknowingly ate both when I went to take a bite of salad - not good service. I'm assuming they tried to save money by not using an "extra" container, but they have lost me as a customer.
