One of my favorite breakfast places in all of Northern California. The owners are super nice and the food is terrific. Locals love the place and it is so small millions of people have driven by without realizing this place is a diamond in the rough. Everything on the menu is fantastic!
If you are looking for breakfast or lunch and can make it to Alamo California (5 mins from Walnut Creek!), please do yourself a favor and try Alamo Cafe. It has been open since 1947 by the same family and from the food they serve to how they serve YOU, it’s sublime. My absolute favorite Philly Cheesesteak I have eaten in California has Garlic Parmesan Fries as an upgrade I totally suggest.
Alamo Cafe vibes are on point. Quaint, cozy, diner feel, great breakfast bar. Could stay in there all day. If you're feeling adventurous, I highly recommend the chicken fried steak breakfast burrito. It was mind blowing. The CFS is crispy, the eggs are fluffy and light, and it's all held together with beautifully melted cheese. Would also recommend the side of gravy to accompany the burrito.
My wife and I had breakfast here and it was one of our favorite restaurants. Small diner with limited space but they crank out amazing diner food. We will definitely come back on our next trip!
Came for the coffee, stayed for the food. Such a great place to eat & have a coffee with your partner. The service/workers are always sweet and thoughtful, so that makes it even more worth the time. A smaller establishment, so there may or may not be a wait to eat, but the vibes make it really worth it. There are also outside seats, which generally don’t have any wait time. 2nd time coming, now it will officially become a staple for my family. (Ps, willing to drive 35 minutes from Brentwood to enjoy this place)
Food was delicious and the service was good and fast. Would definitely stop by the next time I'm passing through.
Fist time visitor. Fresh food. Great flavor. Seating inside and out. Great service too. Will be back again!
I really like how the cafe looked once you get inside. It's all out in the open and you can see how your food is being cooked. The food and the service was great too.
I have traveled a lot in the US, and I old like to say, the breakfast here is fantastic. Delicious and fresh. I love it, and I recommend it for sure. When I notice some good places, I like to come here to Google and tell people about it, because in general people go to tell bad things about business. I liked here ❤️
Small quaint and hometown feeling Cafe! Don't be surprised to find a way as it is a very popular spot.
We have lived here 25 years and this was the first time. What a gem. Yes, a flashback to past decades. That’s the charm. We sat at the counter. The cook was fun to watch. What a master chef. We had the corned beef dish split with two eggs each. Plus a pancake each. Black coffee. Everything was delicious. This is our new favorite local place. We will be back.

I met a friend here for both of our first times. The service was amazing and the food fantastic. It’s an old time diner feel. No Wifi, talk to each other. I enjoyed it so much I’ve walked here twice from Walnut Creek. That’s 5 miles one way on the Iron Horse Trail. I walked with a full backpack both times. It is that good! Walked 10 miles just to eat here. You can drive and still get the great food and service. Just go there if you haven’t been.
This is our favorite post climbing breakfast/brunch location. It’s a small diner but we love their food. Nothing gourmet just a simple menu with excellent food.
I may be biased because we can walk here and it’s a local small business. The service is always prompt and very friendly. Never had a bad meal here. This is the kind of place that treats you like family.
I frequent this place with my young son for breakfast at least once a week. They have reasonable kids menu and the staff is super friendly.
We have often driven by the Alamo Cafe, saying someday we must visit. Today was the day, and we are pretty happy we did. We were greeted with a welcome and a big, friendly smile upon entering the restaurant. We knew then this place would be unique. Service was prompt; we ordered breakfast (French Toast Special with a side of link sausage) - the portions were just the right size and delicious. The coffee was excellent, too! There was no pressure to rush us out when we finished our meal while we finished the last sips of coffee. Prices were fair and a good value for the meal received. Next week, we’re going back to try their sandwiches. Give them a try; we’re sure you will not be disappointed.
This place right here.."The Alamo Cafe" is a small place, but serves big portions and flavorful dishes here. I love that I'm able to see them cook right in front of me, giving fresh homemade vibes. Got myself a "VEGGIE EGGS BENEDICT" it was done perfectly not dry or overcooked, like it melt in my mouth every bite, and the potatoes were yummy, the staff and service are amazing, nice and chill facility, loved it.
Small place, I found to eat at while passing through. It was so cute. The people working (I assume own it) were really nice. The food was great. If/when I pass through again, I will be stopping again.
Their food is absolutely delicious! Expect to wait a little longer for your food, since there is usually only one cook on the grill, but totally worth it. We brought our kids here and they were getting a bit rambunctious as kids do and our waitress brought them kid water cups with colorful straws and it really helped! Highly recommend this treasure of a place.

Wow! Don't listen to whiners & haters in the negative reviews. This place is phenomenal - if you like a cozy little place with excellent, homey cooking. If you’re looking for a big-style restaurant experience, then do skip this very small space. Best items are blueberry pancakes and their bacon. The 🥓 is far better than the many top breakfast spots I’ve tried throughout the Bay Area. Corned Beef IS very good and authentic - it's just thinly sliced rather than chunky, which is different. Eggs Benedict is great. We always get brunch so we don't know the lunch menu all that well. We come mid-morning so rarely have much of a wait. This place is old school, great breakfast dining so if that's your jam, check it out. Don't knock it for not being something other that it is...
Tasty! Good breakfast burritos. No bathrooms here. They recommend going to a nearby coffee shop, which does have a bathroom.
Great food, fun atmosphere… very small, no bathroom and service very slow / unorganized (but nice / friendly). We arrived at 10:20 and didn’t get our food until 12:20, not an exaggeration.
