Luckily when we arrived there was an open table. The desserts are really good, personally really like the mango and taro flavored ones. The atmosphere is also really nice and servers are attentive. Would recommend coming!
One of my FAV places for Asian desserts in Flushing. It's not fair to not share something so yummy. The atmosphere is positive, the space cute, the desserts, too good. But just ma feelz. This is the kind of place I come to for a quiet birthday treat solo or w wild friends! Enjoy.
Super cute place! It’s my favorite dessert place in Flushing — we always get the boiled milk tea and the different sagos. Surprisingly the only place I’ve ever found where every item (at least dessert item, haven’t tried savory stuff yet) is good!
I was craving for some dessert today morning so I decide to come to YuanYang alone, honestly at first I wasn’t expecting much for the portion of the Mango Pomelo Sago because the photos in the comments look a bit too over exaggerating but I still decide to order it to see and surprisingly I’m wrong. I was completely full by the time I finish it so I need to pack the rest of the food home. The three food I order taste pretty nice, I personally will go again with my friends next time. I come during the week day so the place is quiet and kind of empty but I pass by during the weekend a few times before and they are pack.
Lovely traditional Asian dessert place in Flushing. After trying my hand at a lot of different traditional Asian dessert places in Flushing, I got to say, this place ranks #1. There isn't a ton of seating there so make sure to go during their off hours (aka lunch or dinner time) if you want seating. We ended up ordering takeout because it was absolutely packed but the food still tasted great. Would recommend their signature grass jelly. It's soft and not too sweet which is a major plus. Felt like the perfect conclusion to a big meal and left my stomach feeling lighter. If you're in Flushing, definitely a cute mom and pop place to check out!
This was my first time trying traditional Chinese desserts. First we had a dish made of shaved ice, durian, purple sticky rice and mangos. This was especially refreshing but I didn’t care for the sticky rice. The best dish we had was this mango sago with taro balls and pieces of mango in it. We also had a milk tea hot that was absolutely delicious. It reminded me of Indian milk chai. If you want to try Chinese dessert for the first time then go here!
I really enjoy seeing the elevation of Chinese desserts undertaken by the contemporary chefs and restauranteurs. It’s a such a neglected category and they are actively filling the gap, exemplified by this cafe. The presentation is artsy, the taste is authentic and it’s overall a very lovely experience. They also have a savory menu besides sweet.
Excellent place! Desserts were so good, not too sweet (read: less unhealthy). Service was friendly and quick. They spoke good English. Interior design was very good for a place to eat (at least they’re trying, but not desperate; and finding that good balance is really not that easy). Anyway, we ordered the signature dessert (the black rice was my fave maybe because it’s the sweetest, but combined with the other parts, they just tasted perfect) and taro matcha drink. Price was also pretty decent for the portion. In fact, this is the best Asian dessert place in NYC so far. They should open one in Manhattan!!
Great selection of light creamy desserts! For you coconut and fruit dessert lovers, this place is like the ultimate jackpot for that! So good and it didn’t cost an arm and a leg. The restaurant wasn’t too big, but it wasn’t packed either. Great getaway for something cold and sweet on a summer day! Gets my approval for sure!
Flushing has a ton of restaurants for you to dine at, but very few dessert spots. YuanYang is one of the few dessert spots that you have to hit up after your meal. While the wait can be from 0 min to 20 min, I assure you, it'll be worth it. A collection of Neo-Chinese drinks and sweets, there is something for everyone. I highly recommend the Rose Stove-Boiled Milk Tea. A fragrant milk tea that is not sweet with some rosy aftertaste. The Mango Pomelo Sago Bowl and Soymilk Pudding Signature Dessert are both heavenly. With tons of toppings, you can do various combinations with each bite. The Vanilla Ice Cream with Cappuccino and Egg Pudding was an interesting one. I'm not a fan of coffee, so ordering something with Cappuccino is definitely weird for me. However, the coffee was only strong at first, but then it became subtle as it blended with the vanilla ice cream. The only issue I had with this is that the dessert becomes really sticky and chewy. It's still delicious, but you have to eat carefully.
This place serves quality and delicious desserts. I really enjoyed the desserts we got. We had the Double Layer Milk Custard with mango, Mango Pomelo Sago bowl, and Cranberry Snow Fungus with Peach Resin. I thought the mango sago was higher quality than the ones I've had from at Mango Mango. I was afraid the snow fungus dessert was going to be going to be too sweet but it was perfectly balanced. The space is clean and the staff is friendly. Unprompted, the staff provided us with bowls to share our desserts. That was really nice. This place offers a small discount if you pay with cash. The restaurant is small, and it can get really crowded.
A really cute, cozy cafe that serves food and desserts. We had already eaten dinner, so we came just for dessert. The place is small and crowded, and there were long lines ahead of us. We only ordered desserts: a jasmine tea cheese pudding and a mango durian coconut pudding served inside a coconut. Both were good, but it was pricey for the portion size. I wish there had been more durian and mango pieces in the coconut pudding. If I remember correctly, they were running a five-star review promotion that gives you free items for leaving a five-star review, so I would not trust all of the five-star ratings blindly.
Came here with some friends after dinner and we ordered 4 desserts to try: Crispy Milk Roll 8/10 Ginger Milk Pudding 9/10 Taro Ball Mochi 9/10 Mango Pomelo Sago Bowl 8/10 I thought the Ginger Milk Pudding was the best (and the little hourglass on top was a nice touch) but be prepared because you have to really like ginger to enjoy this. However, the price of everything was just a tad too high for my liking, especially considering that I know how to make these desserts at home, so I can’t give this place 5 stars.
YuanYang Dessert is a relatively small and modern chain that appears quite new, offering a pleasant atmosphere that includes clean restrooms, a definite plus. The main draw for me was the desserts themselves. I loved that everything was not too sweet, which is exactly what I prefer. This made the experience feel lighter and less heavy than typical dessert places. While the signature dessert was perfectly fine, it wasn't remarkable for me, so I'm looking forward to exploring the rest of their menu on my next visit. I was a bit surprised by a few menu details. First, they didn't carry the hot, black sesame-filled mochi, which is a staple at many similar dessert shops. More importantly, the menu description for the sesame balls was unclear, and the waitress failed to mention that the item was fried when I ordered. This lack of transparency is concerning, especially for customers who need to be cautious about preparation methods due to dietary restrictions or allergies. Hopefully, they clarify the menu and preparation methods in the future. In terms of convenience, the location stands out. They offer a great self-service screen for quick takeout orders, which is a nice bonus. Attentional, the staff was patient, accommodating, and spoke fluent English when answering my questions. Overall, I will absolutely return. Its excellent location, right on a block with several other great restaurants, makes it the perfect place go to for dessert.
YuanYang Dessert (鸳鸯糖水铺) captures the essence of traditional Chinese desserts while presenting them in a polished and modern way. I’ve been here twice and each visit highlighted how much thought they put into ingredients, texture, and flavor balance. On my first visit, the mango pomelo sago stood out as a refreshing Hong Kong classic the sweetness of ripe mango balanced by the slight bitterness of pomelo and creaminess of coconut milk. The roasted pear with peach gum and snow lotus seeds felt both elegant and nourishing, the pear naturally sweet while the jelly-like peach gum and lotus seeds added texture and health benefits. The soymilk pudding was silky with a subtle nuttiness from fresh soybeans, and the double-layer milk custard, a Shunde specialty, was rich yet delicate with its signature milk skin that melted smoothly on the palate. On the second visit, the jasmine tea cheese pudding combined floral fragrance with creamy depth, creating an elegant bite. The vanilla ice cream with cappuccino egg pudding came topped with granola and oats, along with raisins ,I personally wasn’t a fan of the raisins, but the dessert overall still worked well, balancing the creaminess of ice cream, the light bitterness of cappuccino pudding, and the crunch from the toppings. The jasmine stove-boiled milk tea, served in a clay pot with red dates and jasmine flowers , was aromatic and comforting, brewed slowly for a rounded flavor with natural sweetness from the dates and earthy notes from the flower. The shop itself is cozy and welcoming, and while prices can be a little on the higher side for the portion size, the overall quality and execution make it worthwhile. There’s also a small 1% surcharge for card payments, but it doesn’t take away from the experience. Overall it is a lovely spot for anyone who enjoys traditional Chinese sweets with a refined, modern touch.
A lovely Asian dessert spot that really delivers on authenticity and atmosphere. I absolutely loved the pottery they use, it made the whole experience feel genuine, like stepping into a sweet shop in China. Here's what we tried: Ginger Pudding (4/5): A fun and authentic experience! I appreciated the preparation / processwhere you wait for it to solidify. It has a wonderfully strong, potent ginger flavor, which I loved. Pandan Jelly (4/5): Very visually refreshing, but I did wish the jelly itself packed a little more of that pandan flavor. Osmanthus Milk Tea (4/5): This milk tea was great. Just note that it's served in a beautiful, smaller pottery, which is perfect for sharing up to two people
YuanYang is a smaller dessert shop located in Flushing, serving light desserts typically not found in other stores. The staff are friendly and brings the food out quickly. The food can take a bit depending on how hectic it is, and also since each dish is handmade and made to order. We got the signature Ginger Milk Pudding, mango sago, and red bean paste. The Ginger milk pudding comes in a timer, and it results in a silky pudding that is light, not too strong of a ginger taste but also really good. The mango sago is also pretty good, but very similar to other places. I didn't really enjoy the red bean paste or black sesame, but the others did.
It's a fun dessert place for young people. The atmosphere is absolutely fun and lively, and they also serve small savory dishes like pop corn chicken or pasta. There are a lot of Chinese regional modern dessert choices at this place. We loved the mango durian dessert. The fried dishes are less desirable. The oils had some unpleasant smell to it. Anyway, after all it is a dessert shop!
