Great Place 😃 Food was Delicious 😋 and our waitress was one of the best. They were so accommodating. I asked to put on a game (France vs Netherlands) and they put on the big screen so that my daughter could watch. Highly recommend!!!!!

We can here looking to hangout, have a few beers and get some food. And we weren’t disappointed. Good drinks and absolutely amazing food. I order the buffalo chicken tenders. They blew my mind how amazing they where. I was expecting that classic microwave or fake chicken taste. And I got great tasting chicken tenders, they were perfectly flavored, spice and moist and I got a lot of tenders. I highly recommend the tenders you won’t be disappointed. You have a wonderful time here. And you’ll leave happy!

Was sent away from a business across the street. We had a party of 15. We called and said they could accommodate. Before we even got there the owner had 2 tables set. He promptly took our drink orders. Also apologized for his server not being their. The food was fantastic. The wings were huge and plump. All and all great place for good drinks and great food

Had a great time. Got there about midnight Friday night, and there were 3 or 4 large parties there, and quite a few smaller ones, but my friend and I were able to find a 2-top right next to the stage, no problem. Nearly everyone that sang sounded amazing. The dj had a huge song selection, and was super nice, and encouraging. The clientele was pretty amazing as well. Everyone got up and danced and sang along. They cheered and complimented; it really felt like we all knew each other. The bar staff was great, very professional. We ran a tab, and we had some incredibly delicious spinach dip. They stayed open till about 3:15am, when everyone was leaving. Well the karaoke did. My friend wanted the night to go on, but Maxies had shut down Wolf Road.

Beer was cold, wings were good. Service was friendly. Karaoke was a nice treat.

We ate here twice & both times had an excellent dining experience. The food & atmosphere are wonderful & the staff was very attentive. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for nice patio dining for lunch or dinner!

Good crowd, on the older side, pretty mixed in terms of people that go there. The people are fun, it doesn’t get rowdy but if you are looking for a more slow paced and older crowd, this is great. Karaoke is fun and people engage with you.

As a server myself i can't believe people are still using ancient computer technology to ring up orders, 2019 where is the touch screen? but whatever works lol Food is great, beer selection pretty good. Place was a lot of fun. Lisa was a great server with such a warm attitude towards our large, loud group. Large portions and pours make it a great find. Next time I'm in town I'll go back for sure.

First time here with some buddies of mine. The food, atmosphere and staff was amazing. Our server was very nice. My friend ordered the Philly cheese stake and unfortunately there was red bread tie in it. They immediately took that off his bill which was cool then asked if he wanted anything else on the house. They have a huge selection at the bar and dart boards. Come on by for delicious food at JT Maxies.

We like to come here when we get to go out once in awhile because the atmosphere is just so great. The mix of people & personalities makes for a great experience! I love people watching and just seeing how different we all are and this is a great place for that! They seem to have karaoke everytime I've ever been there and while I don't participate in it, many do and everyone is so uplifting. Fun times for sure.

We have been coming to Albany for about a year and a half now to have night out with friends and date nights - and we always get the hotel across from JT Maxies because we love to watch Karaoke. We have been to the bar about 8 times and we have never had a complaint. Last night we had some beer and very delicious wings. My only complaint is when we got the bill I noticed the bar tender added the gratuity to our bill. I have seen this on bills for other restaurant but that with being a large party of 6 or more guests. I have managed a restaurant for years and we always pride ourselves in leaving generous tips - we would have left more than the 18% he added for himself but this all left a salty taste in my mouth. Maybe they should have a sign posted or let the customers know it added when the check it dropped off.

Went for an early dinner. The staff was very attentive and kind. It was easy to find off the main road and seemed to have plenty or parking. They offer karaoke during the week. The restaurant is small, but had a decent amount of seating despite the size. The menu had a varied of appetizers and entrees. From steaks, Mexican cuisine, sandwiches, burgers and salads. I ordered the sampler appetizer and was surprised by the size of the items! Easily the biggest mozzarella sticks I have had! The entree of shrimp and salad was a large portion and plenty of shrimp for a great price. The decor was quirky from canoes to classic paintings. There was a large bar area and the restaurant stays open past 2am! Would definitely recommend a stop here!

Food is excellent. I haven't been there in a while and it was just as good as I remembered. My only complaint is if you go there to just eat with someone, the karaoke is pretty loud so it's hard to talk. Other than that great atmosphere.

Drinks are good! I highly recommend Irish Trash Cans or Pickle backs with Jameson. They also have a strong juniper berry martini.

I had a great time here. I went on a Wednesday day which was karaoke night in which was a lot of fun. I got stuck at Albany airport and had to stay the night at one of the airport hotels. The hotel staff recommended and it did not disappoint. It was packed on Wednesday night and I see why, it seems there are some regulars who regularly frequent this establishment because there were some really good vocalist to say the least. The food was average but not bad. Stay away from the fried green beans. The sandwiches are a solid choice. I got the roast beef with horseradish I think it was called the new Yorker or something. The club is a good choice and it was some good pics. They have an option to get the club with roast beef also. Bartenders were very friendly and they had a full bar with good beer selections. plus they were showing some good basketball games. This was my first time in Albany and I had a great time at Maxie’s. I would recommend especially if you’re there on a Wednesday night.

Stayed at the hotel across the street and went to this place over the other chains in the area. Small hometown bar feel has the New Yorker sandwich which was very good. Place was clean service was friendly with a relaxed blue collar feel. Only complaint beer was slightly above cold. Wasn't undrinkable just wasn't ice cold like I prefer. Other than that great place if your staying in the area

We had drinks only on their outdoor patio so I can't say anything about the food. Staff was nice and the live music was a plus. Took off one 🌟 for lack of cleanliness. The patio and awning need a good pressure washing. We did enjoy ourselves and will visit again.

Maxies conveniently located close to the Albany International airport. My turkey club was delightful and the beer appropriately chilled. Service was attentive and friendly. A great alternative to airport pricing.

Open late, grill stays open to after 1am most nights. Karaoke nights are fun and energetic. Drinks are decently priced with a nice assortment of beers available. The owner is a sweetheart...the place is worth a visit for sure.

We spent a few hours hanging out here. It is definitely a local hangout spot. Everyone seemed to know everyone else. The night we were there had a lot going on. A birthday celebration, karaoke, and Halloween shenanigans. The food was good. The service was a little slow (but understandably so with how busy it was). The beer selection was average, but the entertainment value was high. I recommend going here during their busy nights.

It was a super cute place, visited from Maine. We went 2 nights in a row, sang a little karaoke. First night it was pretty full. Second night was not as full... but the seat yourself part was kinda dumb. There was 2 tables that could've been pulled away from eachother with 2 people each at them.. so basically 4 out of 16 seats were full. And so my group and I left....and didnt get to enjoy the second night

So we started out heading to Red Lobster, when we pulled in the parking lot I decided i didn't want to go there. After a quick Google search we ended up at JT Maxies, I like the place small hometown feel on the inside or bartender was very friendly, service was prompt, the drinks were strong and the food fantastic. We will be back for sure!!!

Probably closer to a 2-1/2 based upon our experience. We picked it because of the menu we viewed online., which was a very good selection of pub foods, some relatively unique. Wait staff was young, friendly, but relatively unattentive. We ordered apps and dinner. After a while, everything came out together, some cool, some hot. Taste was good for some dishes. Fried foods were heavy with oil, not light. The beer and wine selection was adequate, but, there again, i had to chase ( literally) after our waitress. I had to do the same thing for the bill. We sat outside. It was a beautiful evening. We walked past plenty of uncleaned hi-top tables. The wait staff was engaged in conversations plenty of the time we were there, so there was time for them to clean the tables and plentiful cigarette butts littering the floor near the outside seating. Management was apparently pretty loose. Could be a better place with a little more effort

Friendly and accommodating waitstaff, patio is very pleasant, food is just average. Me and my friends all ordered burgers medium rare and received them well done with a small handful of fries on the side.

The chairs without the padding are uncomfortably hard, the waiter said he's been there a few months but doesn't know of specials or pricing! The wings were good but not really alot of sauce so ask for extra on top. Karaoke was fun!!! Shots were $8-9 on a Thursday no specials.

Wings were amazing a little over priced and the cups sizes are small . It was only one waitress at the time and she seemed to be overwhelmed , however she was friendly and nice , no complaints with her service but since she was overwhelmed i order our drinks at the bar because we were sitting there for ten minutes and wasn’t able to place an order , first drink from the bar tasted no alcohol and it was called the purple hooch , went back to the bartender who didn’t seem to have the great customer service as the waitress , second drink watch her make and it was indeed much better ! One concern as she made our mojito sanitation came into my head as she didn’t wash her hands after touching everything and grab the mint with her bare hands ,

Well to start off i been sitting at the bar for about 30 min and the Bartender has yet to come over and ask if I need another beer. He didn't in the first place, the guy at the door did and its really not that busy . Is it because I'm black ?

The service was good but the timing of the food was off. My husband got his food first and we had ordered the same meal. The appetizer came with the meal instead of first.

Burger, chicken dish, etc. Chicken was partially raw, not something that should ever happen.

Had a quick meal and drinks as it was conveniently located across from our hotel. Had the steak au jus sandwich and it was nothing to write home about but fries were tasty. Outside area was nice and although my dish was nothing special I would consider giving this spot another try.

They have a nice patio. We had chicken fingers and a corn beef Reuben sandwich. The sandwich came with chips and a pickle slice. The server was very nice and food was ok. This is a nice bar.

The food is OK - a bit overpriced in my opinion. The alcohol drinks are served in small classes and are not very strong for the price. The two waitresses I had were outstanding. Very personable and courteous. They were a little less attentive at times but still great.

This is a typical hole in the wall bar/restaurant. I am from out of town and this was recommended for a good time. They have karaoke at night. And I nice outside patio area to sit and relax on a warm day or night . As far as the food goes my coworker got the Philly cheesesteak and said the chicken was terrible tasted old and was not seasoned. I got the chicken tenders which would have been great they are huge in size but they tasted just like grease. I ordered a side salad and the ranch idk if it was house made but was great. I ordered two different drinks to try and both were very weak especially since they were $12 and more each. I ended up getting a beer afterwards so I didn’t waste anymore of my money. Overall I give this spot a 5/10 if u want somewhere to drink a beer and watch the game or karaoke but if your looking for a good meal this isn’t that.

Ok I'm giving a 3. Service and drinks were awesome. Waitress was a home run....Thx Heather! However no fish for fish tacos was disappointing. Wife really had a taste for em. Food quality. Well Boom Boom shrimp tasted good. Nice mix with the Cole slaw. The fries seemed over cooked and soggy. The outside seating was a plus. Would we go back.....Yes. few things to improve on in regards to food.

Me and two friends went for dinner and drinks. For food we got 2 apps, 1 burger, 2 orders of boneless wings and a side order of fries. For drinks we got 2 beers, 5 vodka sodas and 1 martini. While the food and the drinks were fine, they weren't anything to rave about. We got our bill and were blown away... and not in a good way. It was $229.25. 🤯 I understand we're in a recession and inflation is crazy right now, but this place is just a rip off $17 for a vodka soda is insane. And any bill over $150 they automatically include 18% gratuity, which is fine but a warning should be given. Won't be getting my business again. There are plenty of other places you can go for horrible karaoke, basic food and drinks.

We found last hotel room on a Saturday night at a sketchy hotel. This place was close so went for it. When we pulled up there were 5 guys out back smoking so that was a nice look. Tried 3 different tap beers. Flat as hell and tasted super old. My wife had a Blue Moon, I had Sam Adams, and then switched to a Coors Light. All of them were horrible flat. My wife went to a can of Miller Lite to get the taste out of her mouth. Food was good and the single (1) girl serving was great. Super loud inside which got louder with Karoke. If you like bad draft beer and people singing, this is the place!

Been doing karaoke here for a while after I get done hosting karaoke at another bar. Up until tonight when I wondered what time the frame was for the next song I was singing. A put a song in and about 20 min later a buddy of mine put one in. We were going to leave after those songs. He sang his before me and I thought nothing of it. Until 3 other people were due up next and I was confused because I had put my song in way before him. When asking the karaoke host when I was up to sing (because we were planning on leaving after both of our songs). I was asked if I know how math works at least 3 times. The host began to explain to me that one person puts a song on and than another and etc. I understood that part of karaoke. I told the host I also host karaoke so I know how that works. Which was followed again by belittling me and asking me if I know how math works and that after this many people I would be next, even though I had been waiting for close to an hour to sing a song and than leave and just end the night on a good note

The waitress was friendly but uninformed. I ordered a red wine and was given a white. The table was filthy, and we asked the waitress to wipe it down, never happened. The Ruben was good, and the onion rings satisfactory, but the fish tacos were missing the cilantro slaw. All in all this is a nice atmosphere with serious need to up their game.

Extremely disappointing to say the least. My meal came wrong twice, my wife’s was wrong as well. The server was pretty good, but missed the basics. Food took a long time, small portions and overpriced. Disappointing for what seems to be a popular local spot, we will not be back.

WARNING: The cocktails are watered down. Nobody in my party of 12 could taste the alcohol in them. We went there on Wednesday during karaoke night. Only one waitress served us outside. It took about an hour for most of us to get our food orders and about 30 minutes for any of us to get our cocktail orders. Beer orders came relatively quick. There should have been more waiters, bartenders and cooks on staff. Everybody in my party complained about the food, which was too expensive for what it was worth. For example, the 10 Buffalo wings that cost $16.99 needed more sauce. Another example: the $15.99 cheeseburger was dry and tasted as if it were made from a low grade of beef. An 18% gratuity was added on without prior verbal warning. Our bill was well over $100. We were traveling on business, staying at a hotel within walking distance. We vow never dine at JT Maxie’s again, and we will pass the word on to future corporate diners.

I usually enjoy this place but I think I’ll go to a different establishment next time. The service was horrendous; one person in our party had to walk over to the assigned wait staff to ask for orders to be taken. Some people in my party were ignored by the waitstaff. When ordering a vodka soda, the wait person assigned to our table assumed (didn’t even ask) I wanted a soda drink and not club soda in my vodka soda. Very disappointed in todays experience and will go elsewhere for the time being. Chain restaurants have better service and environment.

In all my years of rating places, I have never given a place a 1 star. Unfortunately the bar tender acted like we didn't exist.. When she finally took our order as we were ready to up and leave, she had an attitude.. Not good.. I ordered wings, my husband had a sandwich. He said his was good. At the time My wings tasted good until they didn't. I ended up with food poisoning, so needless to say, they did not taste good on the way up.. So with this said, I give it a one star, bad service, bad food, equals bad rating.. We never give less then 24- 25 percent tip,, well she did not get that..

Went to Maxie’s by myself on a Wednesday night just to have a drink and maybe eat something. Set there for a hour and no one took my order. Asked was they serving inside still and they said yes it was just busy because they had a lot of people outside. Cool. It was 9:30pm I waited another hour. It’s 10:30 now and still nothing. They have every single waitress working outside and no one inside. Mind you it’s freezing on the inside. Waste of time. Do better Maxie’s. Accommodate your customers. It’s one thing to be backed up. But to have all of your waitresses outside is ridiculous.

So..... Me and a large group of 15-20 people were in the area, and decided to eat here. It was very small in there, and our table took up the whole indoor portion, not including the bar. Anyway, it took over an hour to get our food, which didn’t taste good, and there were only three waiters, one of which was new (Like just started working three days ago when we went), and they were very unhelpful. Overall, it wasted THREE hours of our time just to get horrible food and service. Don’t eat here! (P.S. I know that for being a small local restaurant it’s hard to accommodate such a big group of people, but seriously, the food was delivered cold and only two entrees at a time by one waiter, which didn’t help.)

I arrived today around 12pm bar was empty. But for 2 gentlemen and myself. I waited 5 minutes for the bartender to even address me. Only to say I'll be with you in a minute... That turned out to be 5+. I was served my drink and a menu.... However she never came back to see if I wanted to order lunch for another 7 to 10 minutes.... Too busy being social with other workers.. Finally I asked for my bill. 5 cocktails for $13.50... Really??? Can't comment on the food...

This was my first time ATTEMPTING to try this place as I’ve heard great things HOWEVER, we walked in and were warmly greeted by 3 young ladies at the front and were told to seat ourselves, we did. We waited AND waited for someone to bring us menus which didn’t happen so I got up and grabbed 2 menus and WAITED and the girl cleared the only table with people at it and didn’t even acknowledge us and we continued to wait, nothing! No one ever came over so we left. That was RIDICULOUS! Apparently you don’t want business!😡

Three of us went there to get a bite to eat and a drink or two. The place looked like a cool place to go, since we were from out of town. When we entered the wait staff and hostess completely ignored us for an extended period of time. The place wasn't too busy and we saw people eating and yelling at each other, because the music was way too loud for any reasonable conversation. We decided to leave after the apathetic staff seemed more interested in each other than welcoming customers. I hope the management doesn't allow this to be a constant practice. Too bad we didn't get to try the food or beverages.

Had been coming here for 20 years. My wife and I decided to stop in while running errands on Wolf Road. Doors were open at 11:15am so we walked in. Sat at the bar, bartender came over and let us know the kitchen didn’t open until 11:30am but we could get drinks. Ok cool. Decided to play some QuickDraw to pass the time, filled out our numbers and put the tickets and cash closest to the bartender. She was counting the till so about 10 minutes go by and the asked her if she could run the tickets for us. We got a, “Yup, as soon as I finish counting this.” Ok cool. I see an automated machine at the end of the bar so I eventually decide to just go do it myself. I foolishly put a $50 bill in the machine only to find out it doesn’t give change. In addition to the QuickDraw tickets, had to buy some quick picks for Powerball and Mega millions to spent the remaining $30. Ok cool. 11:30am comes around, she comes over and hands us menus. She then proceeds to gossip with the other staff and finally takes our lunch order about 20 minutes after we laid down our menus on he bar. I order the same thing every time; chicken tenders and fires with medium wing sauce and blue cheese on the side. Food comes out cold 20 minutes later. I look at it and the tenders are covered in wing sauce. I say to the bartender that this isn’t what I ordered. In a very perplexed expression, she said, “Oh really? The kitchen must have messed it up.” She walks away. Ok cool. I ate what I could, wife wanted me to let it go. Food was cold, chicken was dry, fries were over cooked, and ginger ale tasted like the soda lines haven’t been cleaned in years. Combined with the worst service I have had, any where, what a disappointment for what this place has become. I wasn’t going to leave any tip but my wife guilted me into leaving something. I left $8 on a $40 bill and still feel like I overpaid. Ok cool. I’ll remember the good times JT Maxie’s but it’s going to be hard to sustain business with that poor of service and such a sharp decline in food quality. Super disappointed in you and I’m not coming back again. Best of luck.

Worst dinning experience we’ve had, this place is strictly a bar scene - we had to sit outside in the cold to get away from the bar noise. Waitress was dressed like she didn’t work there. We ordered the quickest thing we could get so we could leave - simple burger & fries - fries were not too bad, but the burger ordered as medium, for both me & my husband were complete hockey pucks, very difficult to get down. Would recommend ANY OTHER restaurant on Wolf Rd other than this place. Wish we had known.

Bourbon Street on Central Ave (about 10 min away) will give u a much better, courteous, and fun experience. In short...don't go here. Trust

Food is OVER priced for the portions! We ordered the sample platter bc there were four of us. Came out with 5 wings, two mozzarella sticks and 2 potato skins for $20. I ordered the chicken without mushrooms cheese steak that came out with beef and mushrooms. There was a THIN layer of meat. Not worth the money. My boyfriend ordered the Carolina wrap but this also came out made wrong. Came out buffalo style which he did not order. Also, was very the thin and not stuffed like a wrap should be. None of this was the waitress’s fault she repeated our order back to us and it was correct. We will not be back.

Short poured the easiest of drinks even when a double was ordered. Tacos were served cold in the middle.

This place really missed the mark. The drinks were ridiculously overpriced and watered down—felt like I paid top dollar for flavored water. We waited over an hour for food and still didn’t get everything. When we asked the server she just apologized and said the kitchen was behind. 4 tables that sat down after us got their food before we did. Never got our nachos…probably the easiest thing to make on the menu. We ended up leaving hungry and frustrated. Definitely won’t be back.

So we went here because everywhere else was busy in a Saturday evening. I guess that should have been our first clue. The place only had a few tables so we were seated immediately. We ordered drinks which didnt take long and them food. I ordered mild wings and my table also ordered a wrap and the cajun salmon entree. So my wings might as well have been plain because they were so dry and they didnt shake them during cooking cause they were a range of different doneness. The wrap was "ok" and the salmon had ZERO cajun seasoning and came with raw "grilled" squash. Now I'm not sure how this could get so messed up, it's pretty much empty so they weren't rushing food out. The bigger issue was that our server didnt come back. We had to ask another server to get her. The other 2 tables on the patio were check on twice after we got our food. My issue could have been solved early with some extra sauce bit by the time we got help my wings were cold. Oh and she brought me cold wing sauce that had solidified. The only positive I have is the drinks were good and the bar prepared them quickly (well there was only like 20 people there). Her lack of attention in an empty restaurant earned her a tip on the drink order only. Very rarely do me and Jess not tip 20% or more even whe the kitchen screws up, but this was unacceptable service from the waitress. If anything she should have checked on us too much since it was empty.

I ordered their nachos and it was chips, unseasoned hamburger, melted cheese and jalapeños. No lettuce, no tomato (I did ask for no onion no olive) zero taste. Very small portion. Had to ask for sour cream and salsa…… so disappointing. I can’t believe anyone would recommend this place for food. HORRIBLE. However our waitress was wonderful and the karaoke seemed fun!

I am typically the person who enjoys writing positive reviews. Unfortunately, no this time. Went with friends for happy hour and a light fare. Sat on the deck and four people had one menu. All of our drinks were subpar. The lemon drop martini only resembled a martini due to the martini glass- bottled lemon juice, no presence of triple-sec or Cointreau, watered down to the point that there was no refreshing presence of vodka; Margarita was like an ice slushy w/a wedge of lime; Maxie’s drink looked pleasant and tasted unpleasant; the bottles beer did not arrive. Each ordered food except one, who wanted just a plain small salad and was told no. Used the ladies room and let the sever know that one (of two) toilets was clogged w/tp. My fish tacos were comparable a child’s school lunch deep fried fish stick and generic jarred mild salsa w/ shredded cabbage and blah flavor. The egg rolls were saturated w/grease, as were the potat skins. The server seemed overwhelmed the entire we were there; Management should have added another staff member to assist her. Upon leaving two hours later, no change to the issue w/the ladies restroom. Just gross. One and done, for there are far better places in Wolf Rd.

Went in one Friday night and left very upset. A server with long braids never brought me a menu or ice water that I asked for upon my arrival. I waited for half hour and still nothing,went and told a different server as well and still nothing. Both servers avoided me like I had the plague or something. The dining area was also a mess,tables and floors were dirty. After waiting for as long as I did,I left cause I was no longer hungry. Was told that server was fired and when I went to claim the free meal they offered me for my bad experience, she was still there...this place has poor customer service! They have more security guys walking around then actual kitchen and wait staff. They lied to me about everything they said to me about what the said they were going to do that supposedly was gonna try and cover up their poor service. Food is overpriced as well and portions are small,not worth paying for what they are asking. Fries are too salty,wings are overcooked and dry,that's unsatisfactory.

Some of bartenders are nice, but payed 13 dollars for double drink of well whiskey , they take advantage of out of towners, bar manager. Is zooted the whole time . As well as the younger blonde girl, . .they also add 18 % tip for drinks.

Karaoke DJ kept allowing her friends to have preferential treatment during the cycle of singers and towards the last 2.5 hours she was visibly inebriated and started just letting her friends sing. I waited 3 hours and was not allowed to sing the rest of the night because of her friends. Who BTW were celebrating a birthday. Unacceptable and unprofessional.
