My friends and I basically lived here 30 yrs ago! It makes me so happy this place is still going strong! What a gem.

The Palai is a choose-your-own-adventure. Head there early with friends and have the place to yourself. Show up towards the end of the night and it will be packed. Cheap drinks, cheap food, great atmosphere, fun bartenders.

I go at night to play on the bar game machine from back in the day as a 90s kid nostalgia. It's still has the old vibe of an old school bar with a pool table, darts, and a built in wall jukebox that actually works. It's a dive bar for sure, winter coffee was too high up there and the bartender and I laughed. I'll have to bring some hot coffee over and I'll buy the shots, we can meet halfway and be a rocking time haha.

Just moved to Albany from Europe, the staff and the regulars immediately took me in and treated me as a peer, compared to other bars I had visited. The atmosphere is great if one likes old school dive bars. The jukebox actually uses discs, which is probably one of the best pieces of americana i have seen so far. Pool and Darts are readily available and the back porch is a nice place to sit in the summertime. All in all a 10 out of 10 bar.

Came here after a busy night out. These guys held it down. Customers were being tough on them but they really held down their own. Great regulars. Great bartenders. Great owner. Coming back

A quiet dive bar with a big personality, it's much more laid back than most of the bars in the area. The mixed drinks are really good and they serve a few reasonably priced snacks at the bar.

Some young girl was trying to play barkeep and wasn't very good at it. Plus she overcharged me for 2 shots of Jack. Never again. Too much of a dive. Thanks. Enjoy my money

The bartender who it turns out was also the owner gave us the impression waiting on us was bothersome to him. When he finally acknowledged us he didn't even say hello or welcome us. We had obviously never been there before. He stood there until i told him what beers we wanted. He was completely unfriendly and made us feel very unwelcome. Will never go back there ever again.

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE!!! blonde bartender with glasses is incredibly discriminatory and rude. i requested water and was denied service because my ID is vertical despite me being over 21. she flat out denied to serve me. i observed that i was the only black person in the building and the only one to be denied service. safe to say this is my first experience being racially discriminated against. if i could give zero stars i would.

He took one look at my vertical ID, saw "Under 21," and immediately handed it back without actually reading it. I repeatedly asked if he had even bothered to check my birthdate because, surprise, I'm well over 21. Instead, he just kept parroting, "It's vertical," like that somehow overrides reality. Then he had the audacity to suggest I should've updated my ID early--like he was going to cover the fee himself. Right. Anyway, I'm at a new bar now. Hope the old one gets a lovely surprise, maybe some decorative eggs. (Aka getting egged)
