I've been going to Rocks for years. You're always made to feel welcomed, and it's a safe space. The owners care about their customers and treat you like family. Weekday nights the pub is open and has that small-town bar feel with different events, from drag shows to video games. Weekends the club opens, and you can dance the night away. When you need to get some air, the back porch is the spot to cool down and hang out. If you haven't stopped in, I recommend it!!!
Been going to Rocks for 17 years. At times, it was like a second home for me. And I’m so happy to say that nothing has changed in those 17 years. Still a warm welcoming and loving bar for the entire community. No matter if you are straight or lgbtq. Peter and team run an excellent establishment. I remember when it was only one side. They take care of you like family. Always have and hopefully always will.
Rocks is always a fun time🍻

The Renegades only food is unlimited popcorn. So no big whoop. You can bring your own food from home or another establishment. The service is always great especially when the owner, Lance, is working behind the bar. Other bar tenders are also exceptional. The atmosphere is what you would expect at a wonderful gay bar.
A great place to hang out with friends. Always a very welcoming atmosphere
I'm coming this Friday evening/night the 6th. How is it on a Friday night iv only been on a Saturday night
Friendly staff and community! They have an outdoor patio and (as far as I know) no cover charge ❤️ Karaoke and events. A great queercentric fun place!
Came by once for an event being held - was pretty anxious and one of the staff members was super nice - lovely outside area
I had a blast here. Wasn’t super crowded, but so enjoyed myself. The staff was super friendly which is what I appreciated the most.
Glad I was able to make it to Rocks one last time. The staff and owners were always welcoming and friendly, and the comradery I felt from the patrons was undeniable. From Sunday cookouts, to Karaoke (my regret was never actually doing Karaoke) to the Albany Bear events, this place always had something going on. On my final outing I stumbled on their Bear Albany event, and I'm glad I did. If there was ever a way to "go out", this was it. It was a complete blast- from the music, to the people, to the overall jubilation of the place. Couldn't have wanted it any other way. For anyone looking to hang out, have a few beverages and have actual conversations with people, this is the place to be. Thank you for the memories and always making me feel welcomed. And just wondering, have you seen a pair of Ray-Ban aviator glasses, which I left on the bar around fall of 2017...? 😜
I had tickets to an event here through an outside promoter. The event was cancelled and I had trouble getting a refund from the promoter, but once I contacted Rocks, they were an amazing help and were able to contact the promoter and get me the refund. Really kind and helpful.
My friends and I were very impressed with our first time at ROCKS. After having an issue getting into Waterworks with a real ID, and calling the police, we gave ROCKS a try. Thankfully we did. The bartenders were very friendly, the bathroom facilities are clean and the locks on the doors work, and they have touch tunes. We are 100% going back!
Great place to meet new friends and enjoy time with those you already know. Very casual and welcoming. Music good, too I wish I was younger so I could take full advantage of all they offer... especially dancing. Stay happy and healthy.
Was there for the first time tonight. Ok, I got to see a fight brought on by past relationship issues, but the bouncers/staff handled it well. All offending parties were removed. Other than that, a very mellow and accepting atmosphere. Very inclusive. Not as "cliquy" as its gay neighbor across the road. Met some nice people. Enjoyable, even in this post Covid atmosphere. Gonna make this my new spot
Great time. Very accommodating bartenders great time

friend is almost singlehandedly trying to keep the punk scene in albany alive at this place, then gets negative reviews for requiring a covid vaccine to get in. cope harder chuds

Drinks were good, bartender was great but some of the folks who were hanging out there made us pretty uncomfortable New to the area and trying to find gay/queer bars. Not sure if this one was for us
I was there on a Tuesday for trivia night. Bartender was very friendly, customers at least that night were awesome. I'd go back

Visiting the area and had been walking around for a couple of hours so naturally I had a giant 1.5L plastic water bottle. Came in at about 4pm with 3 other friends to break up the walking and have a few drinks. Bartender told me I couldn't have the water, which is fine, so I immediately said no problem because I don't need to drink it inside and that I didn't mind leaving it in his sight on the edge of the bar. Keep in mind there weere maaaaybe 5 people in the bar at the time. He replied saying how does he know if it's vodka inside.. again, it's a rather large bottle to be carrying around booze in during the middle of the day. I stated again that it's just water and I can leave it on the bar or he can keep it behind the bar, didn't really care to throw it away. I didn't intend on drinking any of it at all because we came to drink actual alcohol. This man fixed his lips to tell me that I can hide it outside and come back in without it. This is my first experience with a gay bar in Albany. Not that my money matters much in this situation, clearly, but if I ever come back I absolutely won't go back to this place. This really just didn't make sense and rubbed me the wrong way. I would think the place would be a bit more welcoming/ accommodating.
Everything was wonderful except a lady named Kayla. She was terrible and super rude. She yelled at the door person because I said hi. I was in my work clothes and Kayla thought I “didn’t belong”. To top it off Kayla asked for a $20 cover, luckily the normal bouncer saw me and greeted me like a normal human. I paid my $5 cover and enjoyed my time. The drag show was a huge bonus!
