I've been here a few times and every time the atmosphere, service and food are excellent. They have a onsite sommelier who will guide you to the correct wine for pairing or answering a question from their exhaustive wine list. The restaurant is small, 7-8 tables so be sure to get a reservation if you can first. Also parking can be hard to find so make sure you leave time to look. As to be expected the prices are high but you will leave satisfied.

Simply an Outstanding Experience Excellent food, wonderful ambiance, outstanding service. In every way superior to 677 Prime. Gigi and Jeannine were so attentive, but never intrusive. They were there to answer every question, make appropriate suggestions and have fun with us. The food was hot, well presented and full of interesting flavors.

Parking was a little confusing however we walked in around 7:15. The service was impeccably fast, the food was amazing and the server never missed a beat. We paid the bill and we were walking outside full and happy by 8:20. Will definitely be coming back!!!

Everyone at Yono’s was extremely helpful and welcoming. They created the perfect dining experience with some of the best food with unique twists on fusion cuisine that was surprisingly delicious. Our friend’s rehearsal dinner was amazing thanks to their help!

If what you are looking for is true fine dining in the Albany area, this is the place. There are other very good restaurants, but none combines the quality of food, service, ambience, and wine like Yono's. The food is exquisite, not just on the first bite, but on the last bite as well. The service is formal and professional, but in a way that makes the customer feel comfortable. The wine list is great. Not just because you can purchase a great old Bordeaux at an appropriate price, but because you can find delicious wines in every category and at every price level.

Being a foodie I was excited to come to this restaurant with a good reputation in the Albany area. Many things were good. Service was very friendly (our waiter was a hoot), little velvet stools for purses, and the chef even came out to meet the group. The pianist didn't take a break during the entire dinner, providing a nice ambiance.

C
Caroline Buckley

This place is perfect if you wanna feel really really really really fancy. My mom took me and a friend as a treat and there's always someone nearby with a water refill - my glass never even got to half full. Also the food was amazing. As a super picky eater I was happy to find something I like on every menu.

Pricey, but worth it. Went here for the first time last night for our anniversary. While we were making our reservation, they asked if it was a special occasion and we affirmed. When we arrived the staff was extremely attentive, and provided some complimentary champagne among other small treats. I think they may have given us a complimentary dessert but we were so stuffed that we couldn't imagine ordering any - as it was they still gave us small delicious treats of some toffee and sweet bread. Our meals were delicious and cooked perfectly, and the sommelier was very knowledgeable. The hardest part of our night was choosing what to get from a wonderful menu. There was live music with a pianist and upright bassist who were wonderful. The atmosphere is your choice: there is a front area that is very lively with a bar that was semi full on a Friday at 8pm, we sat in the back area where it is much more intimate, with the live, classical type of music, perfect for a romantic evening.

I have been here twice now, once for the rijsttafel and once for the regular tasting menu. Both times have been perfect dining experiences. Everything about eating at Yono's is wonderful. The food is fantastic, the drinks are amazing, the selection is diverse and interesting. Not only that, but every food allergy has been easily accommodated and resulted not in stunted options but unique new dishes that satisfied all. I'd also like to specifically mention how amazing the service is. One may think you've had good service before, but the staff at Yono's is more than top notch. Attentive, conversational without being overbearing, knowledgeable over everything they serve, and willing to go the proper extra mile to make your meal perfect. This is the best restaurant in the Capital Region, and the price reflects that. Once in a while, though, for a special occasion it's worth throwing on a tie and experiencing the finer things. Yono's is one of the finer things, and worth every penny.

Melissa Fiorenza

The best in every category! Yono's consistently delivers when it comes to food, wine, service, presentation, and ambiance. I recently had the pleasure of doing the chef's grand tasting with my family, along with the wine pairing, and it was a meal we'll never forget. The staff is beyond attentive, patient, professional, and kind, and the food is exactly what you'd expect to find at the top restaurants in NYC. But thankfully, it's right here in the Capital Region. Its sister restaurant, dp, An American Brasserie, is just as exceptional -- for my husband & I, it's our go-to for dinner dates & we're always impressed.

My husband and I totally loved our dining experience. The waitstaff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the food was A-mazing...every.single.bite. If you want to try a variety of menu items, order one of the chef tasting menus!

Phenomenal. Great service, they went above and beyond to make our experience special. The tasting menu was fantastic and my girlfriend did the pre fixe. It was definitely one of the top 5 dining experiences of my life and I have been to well known food cities.

Atmosphere just right with available seating on arrival... good timing during meal. Brett’s service excellent! Cream of asparagus soup very flavorful... with fabulous catch of the day Cod... bourbon pecan tart... with coffee piping hot... Loved it!!!

Enjoyed a wonderful dining experience last night. I choose the Indonesian five course dinner...excellent. Also, the dessert wasn't one of my favorites and I was allowed to substitute any of the desserts. Service was excellent and not pretentious. Wine was excellent...an overall delightful evening...missing only the use of an UBER driver that would have allowed us more wine choices.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We were given complimentary glasses of champagne and a sampling of pastries at the end of the meal. Yono's has a huge, award-winning wine list that is the size of a small novel. The service was excellent, as was the food. The short ribs were particularly tasty.

My most favorite restaurant ever!! The food is amazing in every way! My husband and I always do the grand tasting 8 course dinner. We have never once been disappointed. Also the wait staff are the greatest! Very attentive and accommodating! I very highly recommend this restaurant for the best fine dining experience!!

Came to Yono’s on the recommendation of a coworker and was not disappointed. My fiancé and I each got the February Grand Tasting Menu. What we received was 8 courses of truly spectacular food. Service was impeccable and the atmosphere was second to none. It was a top 3 meal of all time for us.

Dinner with my husband, boss and her husband on May 7 2016. Absolutely FANTASTIC; by far the best meal and ambiance I have had in upstate NY. Our server was exceptional and food delectable. We enjoyed lamb, duck, scallops, halibut, oysters, crab, and even lobster bisque. All exquisite in flavor. Even the drink my server offered was ambrosial! Can't wait to go back.

This restaurant continues to impress us, though we have been loyally dining there for years. They manage to continually keep the menu fresh with the seasons, yet we still continue to find things that are comfortable and familiar. Couple incredible cuisine with an encyclopedic wine list and gracious and attentive staff and you have a wonderful dining experience at Yono's.

My wife and I had dinner on good Friday. The experience was fantastic the staff were great and the food was unbelievable taste good. The best resturant I have been into in Albany and it's environment. I will definitely go back and tell others about it. Well done staff. In Jamaica I would say food and place sell off.

S

Oh, probably the best dining experience I've ever had. Kee, the server was so knowledgeable and accommodating. Yono himself came and visited us. The food was perfect.

I hosted an intimate bridal shower at Yono’s yesterday afternoon. It was absolutely amazing, and everything (and more) I had imagined! The room was beautiful, food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. The bride was so happy! The staff was wonderful, and were also able to accommodate several of the husbands (including mine) in a separate area. I had never even stepped inside Yono’s until yesterday (because I live two hours away). From the moment I first spoke with Donna, she made me feel very comfortable that she had every detail under control…. Her answer to every one of my requests was “We can do anything and everything you want!” It was a wonderful experience!

Wow, my mother and I are in Albany for the night and we chose to splurge on dinner. Best decision ever, the pork belly melted in my mouth and the cream of corn soup was delicious. My mother had the black angus filet mignon and I had the suckling pig, both melted in the mouth. OMG the desserts, they had a s'more bread pudding and a pavlova to die for. So glad that we decided to stop here at Yono's for dinner

Hotel restaurants have fallen off lately but not Yonos. Very good seasonally appropriate meal and cocktails. Shout out to Bret for the great service while I dined alone. Worth the price tag but not super adventurous food. Chill and friendly crowd at the bar, more refined in the dinning room.

This restaurant has a great tasting menu filled with delectably cooked courses. I was amazed at the preparation and skill level for the Capital Region but it surpassed all expectations. Highly recommend the grand tasting menu and wine paring. Proteins were cooked immaculately, the service was stupendous and we essentially had the restaurant to ourselves during our 5PM reservation.

Excellent thought out menu and very articulate with his every day specials. Dominick is a serious resturant owner with one thing in mind, keeping everyone coming threw the door happy and experiencing fine dining like they have never experienced before... Will always be faithful! Definitely check them out if you have never before!!

Great tasting menu, If you like spice make sure to let your waiter know, they are very good about little things like that. The wine pairing is good with a very knowledgable sommelier. The service is spot on and the atmostphere is very fine dining. Even without doing the tasting a 3 course meal there is also very good!

My wife and I dined here for our first wedding anniversary. Every single item of food was cooked to the perfect texture, and the tasting menu was not only eclectic but also very well balanced, with every course being distinct and memorable. The wine pairing was also a really nice touch for each course. The service was first class, and they make sure you feel like royalty when you dine here. Yono's provided us with one of the most memorable dining experiences we've ever had, and it is undisputedly the finest dining experience in Albany, far surpassing Wellington's, Jack's Oyster House, and 677 in our opinion. We will definitely be back, and our first wedding anniversary will be forever remembered in the fondest way.

Yono's catered our rehearsal dinner last weekend and everything was incredible. Working with Donna, we felt like we were part of the Yono's family and it took away all the stress of planning a fancy dinner. The food was delicious and unique, and the service was amazing. They even matched the linens and table settings to our wedding colors! We can't say enough good things about the team at Yono's and are so grateful they were able to do our rehearsal dinner.

E
Ed

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here. It was an excellent meal and experience. The staff and the food were both incredible. Donna could not have been easier to work with in planning. In fact, she really saved us, as we originally planned the dinner at a different restaurant that closed shortly before our wedding. Looking forward to many anniversary dinners here!

Albany’s best kept secret! Why is this place hidden in the back of a hotel - needs to be a stand alone venue downtown! Excellent food, prepared and served exquisitely- impressive wine list. Very nice and attentive staff. I just wish the room was nicer.

To celebrate our 1 year anniversary we had an exceptional experience. I got the tasting menu with the paired wine and each dish was a new and amazing food experience. Every detail is looked after and it is absolutely worth the money as the service and food are above reproach. The evening began with complimentary champagne and a personalized menu with our anniversary and names noted. Impeccable service and staff with every detail considered and a great deal of knowledge. The complimentary desert plate with happy anniversary wishes warmed our hearts and put a cap on a great evening.

This review is solely for the bar area We were with a large party coming into town for the weekend. Our group trickled in for like an hour and I am sure was a slam on the bar. Brett the bartender kept pace. He had some helpers but he was basically on his own serving about 20-30 people. He was a knock out bartender. We had the 3 high tops pushed together as a gathering point but took up over 80% of the bar area. I am a fan of having a bartender who is great make up their own variations of my favorite drink a margarita. Brett crushed it! Brett first mixed a strawberry passion fruit, then raspberry and then the original. His drinks were a perfect balance and fantastic flavor. If we lived local I would not hesitate to hire him for private events. When it was closing time he recommended a bar across the street for us that is more of a local hangout which we thoroughly enjoyed too!

Have had the pleasure of eating here many times. Finally felt the need to make a review after all the struggles the restaurant industry has faced and having such a wonderful experience. I was with my husband and another couple celebrating Christmas week before the holiday. The dining room was festive, the sounds of other diners and laughs filled the room in a comfortable way that was not too crowded. Everyone was respectful to policies and happy to be out. Hospitality is not dead I tell you, the service was hands down the best we have experienced post covid. We did do the tasting menu and it was fun and so well presented and excited, highly suggest!! Overall, our experience was so memorable wanted to review it bc so much of the world is sad and complaining, needed to share the good stuff.

This place is by far one of the best restaurants around. The food is fantastic and the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I had the four course tasting menu. It started with a lobster tamarind soup, next up was the grilled Carolina white shrimp, entree was suckling pig and dessert was a vanilla been cheesecake. Their wine list is huge and they have great wine. We let the sommelier choose our wine and Josh was spot on with the selections. This is a great place to dine with your significant other or with a group. Be back soon to try the rest of the menu.

Yono’s Formal, You can listen to a wonderful piano player on Friday and Saturday nights. I chose the five course traditional Indonesian Rijsttafel for dinner. Remind your date to get a appetizer or they will sit there envious, and hungry as you are served course after course of food. My food was cooked to perfection! I have only positive things to say about all five courses! Service was spectacular and the staff was well mannered and full of social niceties that many people and restaurants are lacking.

S

Yonos was top tier! The service was impeccable as well as the food! Very romantic ambience and very happy I spent my birthday dinner here! If you’re a foody check this place out!

One of my all time favorite restaurants. Service is wonderful and food is absolutely delicious. The tasting menu is fun but my personal favorite is the short ribs. The wine list is extensive and great as well. Great place to go for special day/celebration.

Yono's is, without a doubt, the finest dining in Albany. An establushed culinary attraction for over 40 years, still expanding the palette of patrons with each visit. My guest and I ordered the prix fixe, I the 4 course and guest the 5 course rijsttafel. We also took advantage of the wine pairings with each course. The meals were superb, the wines delightful discoveries, many from New York State, and the service was exemplary. Pictures are the second course plates. Exquisitely prepared and presented. Visit again and again!

My wife and I was celebrating my birthday here and the level of service was the best!! Every waiter was perfect and the food was delicious.. I always wanted to try duck so I would recommend if you never had duck before or you love duck - this is the place you should go.. I have to say this again that the people there are so nice and caring, they treat their guest like you are part of the family.. Anytime I'm in Albany this is going to be my dinning place.. Great Job Yono's, all your employees are the best...

The tasting menu flowed smoothly, from a delicate seafood starter to a perfectly cooked venison entrée. Each plate felt intentional and well-balanced, while the service struck that fine line between polished and personable, making the evening feel special without stiffness.

One of my favorite, lovely restaurants in Albany New York. Albany misses the sparkle and shine of excellent quality and elevated service mostly, but Yono's certainly gives more hope to even the most jaded restaurant lover in upstate. The food is always meticulously prepared, as well as the wonderful cocktails and spirits. The flavors are bountiful with the wonderfully eclectic menu, with a hint of an asain palate perfectly fulfilling our demand of a unique enough selection to please clients from all over. The oysters are also incredible. The service continues to always deliver customer satisfaction and joy and the bar area is always a great place after theater shows, or even after a long work day. Their hours are also more lenient with more frequent customers, opening more wonderful times to enjoy their dishes during the day and evenings depending on season. Yono's is lovely and perfection in the center of downtown Albany's finest culinary scene.

It's pretty expensive but the atmosphere and food is great, ordered the soup the day (seafood chowder) and was delicious. The burger was really tall and complex, I spent a good few minutes trying to figure out how to eat it. The desert was great, especially the lemon tartlet.

Always enjoy our meals here it’s lovely! I love the unique fresh breads - sun-dried tomato, saffron, always unique. My favorite is the suckling pig it’s amazing. Our last visit my mom had flown in from California excited to have their foie gras. At first we were told they just ran out, but a few minutes later the server said the chef had set a piece aside for a special guest who didn’t arrive, so they prepared it for my mom on the house - so nice of them! Nobody would do that nowadays, 5 stars based on that gesture alone!

What can I say about my favorite restaurant? I don't think I can say much without almost crying We adore Yono's. We make reservations for very special occasions. Anniversaries or Valentine's Day. (Book a few months in advance for Valentine's Day and request a corner booth) It takes about 3 hours and $400 for two people to get the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings. If you are okay with spending more than that, give her a ring 😉. She'll never forget it 👩‍🍳💍🥂 You can also order of the Grand Prix menu for smaller appetites (and wallets)

This was our second time here. We went a little before our wedding to destress and again today for our 1st anniversary. We ended up doing the tasting menu with a wine pairing. Our sommelier, Josh, was so knowledgeable and friendly, and we can't say enough kind words about our server Kiara. Definitely recommend this to celebrate a special occasion!

My husband and I had a wonderful meal here. As always, you are treated like royalty in their opulent dining room. Our appetizers of Bahkmi noodles and ricotta gnocchi were delicious, as were our entrées of duck and scallops. And bonus: Best gluten-free rolls I've ever had anywhere! 💫🤸💫 The service was extremely attentive and this place does food as well as they do hospitality, Yono's GETS it! 💜

Took my boyfriend for our first time there for his birthday dinner. The attention to detail in everything they do was remarkable. They even printed a special happy birthday menu with his name on it. The food was amazing. We opted for the 3 course dinner but definetly want to try the 8 course tasting at some point. I had the lobster fried rice and the short rib and I wish I could recreate them at home because I will be thinking about them until the next time I go back. Service was excellent and not overbearing. Thank you so much for making it such a special evening!

What an absolutely beautiful restaurant for occasions such as anniversaries, graduations, birthdays and more. My boyfriend and I went to Yono’s to celebrate our 5 year anniversary tonight and it was one of the best decisions we could have made. Not only was the staff amazing, helpful, attentive and sweet, but the food itself was some of the best food we’ve ever had. The experience was unlike any other and the wine pairings that go with the meal were amazing. We did the 3 course meal but the waitress let us know we could add a mid course or a 4th course (being one of the first course options) for an a la carte price which ended up working perfectly for us as we were able to share with each other and try different things. The espresso Creme brûlée was a highlight of my night seeing as it’s one of my favorite deserts, and the food portions are definitely enough to get you full. We will definitely be back!

My boyfriend treated me to Yono's for Valentine’s Day, and I have to say, Yono's was probably one of the best culinary experiences I’ve ever had! We had their special Valentine's menu, which offered a 6-course tasting menu, and we decided to go with the wine pairings, which was an excellent choice. It was my first time experiencing the beauty of wine pairings, and I was amazed at how elegantly the wine enhanced each course - their selections of wines were *chefs kiss* The complexity, flavor, and intricacy of each dish were phenomenal. The 6-course meal featured chilled creek oysters, butter poached scallops, root vegetable potage, foie gras, filet mignon, and dark chocolate gateau—each dish was a masterpiece and so beautifully presented. My personal favorite was the foie gras. While Yono's is definitely on the pricey side, it's perfect for your fancy shmancy occasions. I'm looking forward to returning to explore their regular menu! There are some experiences you simply need to review and Yono’s provided such a time. Joshua, our server, created an incredible, personalized experience for the both of us and was the highlight of the evening. The three course tasting menu was sublime, with perfect portions and impeccable flavors. The staff is careful to make sure you are fully knowledgable about the menu and the offerings they provide. The hospitality is world-class, and the food matches. While on the higher end of pricing, it could not be more worth it. Our only wish is to go there more often.

Great place for fine dining for either a special occasion or a work function in Albany. The atmosphere is nice, although it might be a little loud in the bar area. I ate with a work function in the dining room in the back which had a piano and a large table area which was apart from the rest if the dining room. It was perfect for a large group. The food was excellent, with an interesting mix of various genres that blended well together. It's a foodie's paradise! The service was excellent and more of what I expect from a fine dining establishment. Very attentive and friendly. Not a place for a quick bite, because it takes time, but to be honest, not being rushed is exactly what I want from a place like this (too often there is no time for conversation). Very highly recommended!

Very expensive, but worth it. The food quality is always top tier, and the service is excellent. On special occasions, Yono's often adds in little treats, like complimentary dessert, or drinks, or other things. For example, on our anniversary, they gave us champagne and chocolates (for free!) without us asking! We don't drink, so they offered us sparkling cider instead. It was so thoughtful. We've been many times, and on a few occasions, everything was just "ok." Hence the 4 stars, rather than 5. When you're paying for excellence, you should get excellence! Yono's delivers almost always.

Boyfriend loved his food. I loved the arugula salad but not my main dish. I'm not a sweet or coconut fan which limited my options. I found a beef dish with carrots as a side but was unhappy when I realized they were candied carrots. The meat was a little dry for my liking and the sauce did not taste good to me. Great service. I'd requested a drink and did not like it. They got me a different drink and did not charge for the first drink. They say they have valet parking but it was more like a parking lot that even after calling was still so confusing we did street parking and walked. Overall great experience. I would go again and be more vocal about what I do not like and asking about words on the menu that I do not understand.

Excellent fine dining in downtown Albany: the blending of Indonesian and American cuisine made for a novel, delicious dinner experience. The staff is very attentive, Chef Yono himself came out to ask us if we enjoyed our dinner!

Very good dining experience. Would return. Pricey. Pros: Wine sommelier was very fun. Prie fixe menu was very diverse and adjustable. Separate dining room and bar. Cons: Some dishes were luke warm. Kitchen is visible from the dining room. IG: t_mo_swagglio23

Everything about this place is fancy. The food, service and ambiance. But it is very expensive. They have a small menu but all the items are very well thought out and delicious. They also have wine pairing if you want. The menu changes very often and the food is always fresh. There isn't a good place to park for free so heads up. Worth a visit for a celebration or something but too expensive to go regularly.

The food is good and I enjoy this restaurant very much. It is one of several places in the capital region that I will go to, otherwise I eat out in NYC. However, the shortcoming is the dessert. The desserts are not on par with the food and are very basic. The dining room itself is also a little outdated. I think Yonos needs a tiny face lift (maybe some art, fresh flowers, and a new paint color) and a pastry chef. Textured wallpaper would add coolness to the warm color palette. I would love to see the desserts become as phenomenonal as the dinner both in taste and appearance. Yonos is the only restaurant in this entire region with the ability to be the first and only to acquire a Michelin star and I think the updated desserts would be absolutely key.

Sufficient and pollite. The contrary of too often occasions.. Attentively listening to dîners.. When not understanding something ..

1. Recommend the rosemary salt bread. 2. Both appetizers are 5-star materials. Carrot potage has a really delicate blending flavor with curry; Indonesian fried rice has the right amount of spiciness to light up the flavor, not to mention the runny egg and soft lobster. 3. Entrees: scallops are good. I especially liked the crispy part on the top. Tenderloin is not so impressive. I would expect it to be less chewy and more flavorful. 4. I love Donna’s French Cheesecake! It’s light and fluffy. So much better than New York Cheesecake :)

The food is very good and portions are thoughtful. Ordered the pan roasted gulf of maine salmon and it was well cooked and fresh. Everything on the plate was delicious and compared to all other meals in Albany, I did love my meal here. My only gripe would be that the food was too "heaty" (I'm not sure what the western equivalent of this concept is, but perhaps some cleaner elements could have balanced out the sauce). I enjoyed the Dutch Baby cocktail but wouldn't have it with the salmon because the spices in both tasted a bit too similar to me. Honestly can't remember what the second cocktail I had was - a sour with egg white? The Dutch Baby was better.

We went there for my husband's birthday and had a really good experience! The staff was very friendly and courteous. We did the three course meal which was delicious! By the time dessert rolled around we were stuffed! Food was tasty though for the price I would have expected something a little more elegant and sophisticated. The only disappointment was that there was no love music (we went on a Saturday evening). Overall a fun experience and a reason to get dressed up!

Honestly for $250 for 2, I'd expect more, and I'm easy to please. Food had great presentation, well sourced as described by waiter, but mixed taste & quality, like lamb chops all fat sans lamb. Our waiter was ok, he offered us Prosecco because he couldn't offer an item requested, then another waiter swiped the Prosecco glasses while mumbling something. Same guy ran thru the dining room yelling at someone at the door, weird. I thought perhaps they added entertainment to the venue. They cleared & tried to clear meal plates too fast, yet left the bread plates till end of dinner. Like I said, I'm happy with a burger or fine food, but if you're paying for top notch, it probably should come close to that in reality. My beautiful date was the best part of the night. Been here before, had better. Won't be back.

Food is OK, but way overpriced. On the service side, we have pre-ordered custom cheesecake but it wasn't there when we arrived. They have offered to pay extra to have it as a take out. On the positive side, wine selection was great and the prices fair (starting at ~$100 per bottle). In the end it was $550 for prix fixe for four and wine. We joked that we should have bought a new airconditioner instead and went to McDonald's - we visited during 2020 heatwave. Again the place is OK and I am all for supporting local business, but you can find better deals within 10 min walking distance.

Fine dining, so the cost is comparable to other fine dining restaurants. Very quaint and the voices don't carry. The servers are attentive. Kinda hidden. Would I go again, no. But definitely a nice experience.

We visited Yonos while on a turn around trip (driving 10 hours to stay less than 24 hours and home again) The restaurant was adjacent to the hotel which was very nice and easy. We had no wait time which was amazing for a Saturday night. The 3 of us were seated at one of the high top tables, which was fine but the tables were very small. We had to use the extra chair so we could get some of the things off the table so we would have room. Our waiter was very nice but didn't explain the menu, specials, or drinks. There also seemed to be a limited menu compared to what we saw online. I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was the best one I have ever had!!! The blackened octopus was amazing as well. Our actual dinners came and I was pretty surprised with the presentation though. I don't believe it was up to par. Again not much room to function. The prices were a little higher but based on the presentation I guess I expected more for the price. The food was all and all good but I think we will explore other options the next time we visit Albany.

We chose Yono's specifically because my wife and I love chef's tasting menus, but overall it was a disappointment. The food was maybe 2/5 stars. The plates were not particularly inspiring or delicious. None of it tasted very fresh. And the timing was erratic with some plates coming too soon after the previous and some taking an eternity to come. We dined the last night before they were closed for the holiday weekend, so maybe the chef was already gone? The wait service was 4/5. The wait staff were very attentive and professional. Far from a top notch fine dining experience but they were lovely people. The wine service was 5/5. The sommelier was fantastic. She had incredible in-depth knowledge of all of the wines. She was super attentive and did her best to get the pairings on time despite the erratic timing of the kitchen. And all of the wine choices were great. The price is comparable to other fine dining tasting menus we've done, but definitely not worth the price we paid.

This is a very nice, classy place with wonderful and very professional staff. The ambiance is very classic NYC vibes that feels like you kinda stepped into the past, which I like but I know some would feel like it's a little 'stuffy' However, the tasting menu is incredibly lacking in the seasoning department.... Seemingly only flavored by aromatics, juices and infused oils.... Well technically impressive, the food was incredibly bland, I guess the chef is a purest. I just want my meat seasoned, even if it was just flaky finishing salt... After the 4th dish it was just incredibly hard to get through. I'm glad I got to cross Yonos off my list but I don't imagine I'll be visiting again despite the lovely experience we had with the staff.

Second time here. Went for Valentine’s Day. Very displeased with overall dining experience. Food was good, but nothing wow about it. Ordered the more expensive wine pairing but there was no connection between the wine and the dish, I think the sommelier really missed the mark on this. The menu was changed and nuts were added to some dishes which were not previously there. I was surprised to see they didn’t ask about allergies before we ordered as two dishes came with them and there was a nut allergy issue. The space was crowded and loud, I realize it’s a holiday. We were served one course and had to wait 5 minutes before we got flatware. Doesn’t seem long until you’re sitting there staring at your food. We got served still water even though I paid for sparkling. For the money I spent this time, I can’t really justify going back unless I was given a good discount. The first time I came was a stark difference from what I just experienced. For the money I spent, I feel like I got robbed.

Came here the other day and I really not sure how this place has so many good reviews. I don’t even care enough to get into specifics, but the food was really not that good and the atmosphere was awkward. I recommend you save your $450 for 2 (after tip, 3 glasses of wine each, with 1 just getting an heirloom salad and weird eggplant things) and go somewhere else.

Went there for our Anniversary . First visit. Nice room . Slow to get first drink . Slow to get bread . Courses picked before drinks . Servers seemed rushed . My food was tasty but cool , not even warm . Bad form for prixe fix $96.00 My wifes halibut was overcooked . Bad form . My wifes appetizer was unexpectedly raw goose meat , not pate as was expected . That may have been chef interpretation but weird . Server offered replave the course after my wife couldnt tolerate raw goose yet charged us for it over the prixe fix . Dessert time . 3 discussions about lemon Sorbet for my wifes dessert. They bring coconut out . Disjointed dinner as i had food when my wife did not service was well below average and for a restuarant of that price and track record .. just poor showing . Quite dissapointing $302 dollars later . Gave a good tip though , didnt want to blame server . Kitchen mistakes galore .. one and done .

I got the angus filet mignon for $60+ and this is what i got.... presentation was terrible and taste was ok but more like a good $20 meal at a chain restaurant. I expected a lot more flavor and a solid presentation for 60 bucks. The saving grace of the night was the service. It was impeccable and i felt like a celebrity but the food just didn't measure up. I don't often dine fancy but when I'm dropping $60+ on a filet mignon at a top tier restaurant I want to leave with a feeling like I had something excellent that I couldn't replicate myself. My date had the chicken and the presentation and flavors missed the mark as well...the rice was so dry it was almost inedible. worth a try but I'm heading back to 677 prime and new world bistro for the occasional dinner out

We have been here many times and we're very disappointed in the quality of the food. Many items we look forward to were not available. Some food was served cold and the flavor, quality and texture was well below our previous experience and expectation. One of our party had the pairing menu, not one time was there a description of the wine or an explanation of the rational for the pairing provided.

So…last night 3 of us went here for the 7 course dinner. It was not what we expected. We are all well-traveled and open to flavors. The drinks and service were good especially the server’s assistant. However, the food was another story. The first course of oysters was not on ice and was warm like it had sat out. The octopus was good but did not need the salmon roe on it. The pea soup was underwhelming at best. The foie gras was good on it’s own but the rest of the part of it tasted like shoe leather. The pork was better than the others. We took the venison to go and haven’t tried it yet. The cheese was extremely bitter and not delightful. And we did get bananas foster for dessert as a swap but I think you can’t really mess that one up. So two possibly three decent small bites and a bill over $500. I would pass on this for sure next time.

Interesting and diverse menu. Food is good. However I worked in the kitchen and I saw how freshness of food was not of top concern to ownership. How can you present yourself as a top class, fine dining location when you can't even keep fresh produce stocked for salads and try and force cooks to send out questionable food.

Went for Valentine's Day tasting dinner. After requesting a menu of the 8 course menu for about two weeks before Valentine's day weekend I was not given one nor responded to by the restaurant. Ok cool maybe the chef is keeping it close to the vest. When we arrive we are told that our reservation was for the dp bistro which it was not but the reservation app has issues per the gentleman at th desk. Luckily the hostess was very helpful and got us into the Yono dining room that was behind a very non discript door. When we entered we were seated by th same excellent hostess. We then waited for about 20 mins for someone to ask if we've been helped. We said no and then asked for water. It came about another 15 mins later. We then waited again for roughly 15 mins and we're approached by a nice man who apologized for our wait. We ordered the 6 course yes 6 not 8 like advertised for 165$ per person. Each dish was like a painting and presented beautifully. Problem is they just left them on our table without any description of what it was. Everything except the fois gras and chocolate ganache was close to tasteless. Our boar belly was so dry that without the reduction added would have been inedible. Service was terribly lacking and we felt like an after thought. The bread service was the best part. Not what I would expect for an end bill of 500$ for two people. My wife and I have had the pleasure of visiting some of the best restaurants in NY, Yonos is not one of them unfortunately. Not only will we not return but will absolutely warn against. Another Albany location living off a memory of what it was. Never again.

It had been a while since my wife and I ate at Yono's. So we decided to revisit the establishment. The food was subpar at absolute best. The seating was completely uncomfortable and we both left feeling sick and disappointed. My wife had to take stomach medicine because of the food and I felt queasy after ingesting part of my meal. We were gifted a gift card for our wedding. That card, with a large remaining balance has since been tossed in the trash. It seems to have gone down since our last visit and we will NEVER return!

Being that my initial review was filtered, perhaps for being too long (I like to give detailed account when giving a bad review), here is a shorter version: Bland, over-salted and over-priced, this restaurant is sure to disappoint. Avoid at all cost.

So let me preface this with the fact that I have been coming here for 12+ years so this is not my 1st time. Long story short , Yono's has become a few steps above McDonald's but still a few steps below Wendys ! If you're interested in why , please read on... This timeline encompasses over 2 1/2 hrs ! So for those of you who don't know, Yono's is classified as "fine dining" and is nestled in the middle of another Bar/pub style called DP's. Yono's is supposed to be the finer side of dining where the staff know your name and treat you accordingly. Tonight , myself and 2 other friends visited and this is how it went .... Going to speed shot this one and forego the glamor for this as it's a lot! - Originally got the DP's menu but asked for the Yono's menu for a nicer dinner experience. Yono's menu is now these 3 course or 8 course tastings. No real good selections so back to the DP's pub style menu. - Sat down and immediately felt rushed but that's ok . Ordered a round of drinks and came out 20 min later . - got drinks and immediately ordered another round for 2 of us (not 3) because it seemed like it was taking time - 35 min later got 2nd round. The guy who DIDN'T want one got another and the other guy who did want one didn't get his. 10 min later he finally got his. Dirty Martini tasted a bit off but ok ... I can manage it. - immediately placed an order for the 3rd round of drinks - put in app order of 3 apps. 20 min later got 2 apps, 3rd never showed up ( Waitress - Ooops .. sorry,) - Put in dinner orders 10 min after app order. 2 burger specials, 1 fish special dinner - 30 min later 2 burgers and 1 fish comes out. 1 was the special and the other was God knows what but wasn't the special . "Let me fix that" - 5 min later I got the correct burger 10 min later (35 min from order) got the 3rd round of drinks. Dirty Martini had so much vermouth in it, couldn't drink it. I think the vermouth actually started to eat into the glass. Most disgusting Martini ever had and come on ... It isnt that hard ! - Ate the burgers which actually were not that bad but the fish had so much sauce on it , it gave a southern plate of biscuits and grave a run for it's money. Just over the top drowning in sauce. - Done with dinner, the waitress said another martini could be made but by now we were done and I said I'm all set. Once you get that vermouth taste in your mouth , it's hard to get rid of it. Would you like some more tap water .. "Yes please , best thing I've had tonight", - Desert menus ? No we are done . - Coffee .. on the house because of a bad drink ? "Are you serious? No we are good" - Well they were kind enough to take Martini off of bill as it was still sitting on the table and she made a point to tell us that - "Hope you enjoyed your evening" ... Here is your $280 bill Fine dining this is not ... Not even close . This place was a crown jewel in Albany when Yono ran it . Now it's a pitiful 3rd class restaurant that's still trying to ride on a retired great chef where pride, service and quality still meant something Bottom line , don't waste your money . There are plenty of other pubs / establishments in that area that offer the same if not better food, definitely much better service, better drinks and all for a 1/3 to 1/2 of the price ! Over 12 yrs going there and unfortunately the last

Extremely disappointing experience for such a high-end restaurant. Came in here expecting exceptional food and service, but unfortunately, I ended up with food poisoning—most likely from the oysters. I called the restaurant to let them know, not just for myself but to help prevent others from getting sick. Shockingly, the response was a dismissive “ok,” with no apology or concern whatsoever. For a restaurant at this price point, the lack of accountability and care is unacceptable. That said, our waitress was absolutely wonderful—attentive and professional. No fault to her. But the management’s indifference left a very bitter taste after what should have been a memorable meal. Avoid the oysters, and maybe think twice before dining here.

I spent close to $300 for two of us. The fixed menu course is priced at $79, minimum. The dishes are mainly good. The server was very knowledgeable, explaining to us they utilize and often incorporate local produce. I found the foie gras exquisite. The lobster tail fried was greasy. However, in the middle of dinner, my partner saw a mouse running into the fire place. That ruined our diner. My partner told them the presence, but they didn't do anything. Plus I found the menu option over priced. Needles to say, I will not go back again.

Incredibly disappointing. The waiters did their best to save the day but our experience at Yono’s was one of the worst ever. What went wrong: - even with a reservation we waited for 45 min to be seated. Nobody offered any drinks or snacks - the food service was incredibly slow (as in waiting for two hours for the entrees) - the food quality was shameful, to the point where I was seriously wandering if you could serve this in a restaurant I feel very sorry for the waiters who had to endure this with many, many angry customers that night. It clearly shows how bad management can destroy a restaurant that was supposed to be one of the best in town. I will add that the restaurant kindly discounted our bill admitting that this wasn’t up to their usual standards.

‘Don’t worry, it’s almost over’. That’s literally what a server said to us about our experience there. We went on NYE and it was the worst experience eating out of my life. We waited for almost an hour to get seated, even though we had a reservation. The menu was meh at best. The main course was hard to eat. We left before the dessert came because the hours we spent there waiting for the courses to come were just not worth it. They barely offered bread and water in the meantime. Honestly, there was nothing about fine dining. A food truck would have provided a better experience. I do not recommend this place. The guests we saw leaving the place were also looking pretty worn down. A server mentioned that the main chef left the restaurant this year, so maybe that’s why it used to be good but longer is? We won’t be coming back. I’m not a good cook, but my food is better than why we had there.

Tried their tasting menu. Pretty unacceptable for fine dining. Food too salty. Service extremely slow. The technicality was also subpar. Feels like we've been eating different foods than everyone else in the reviews. In fact, the plating does look a lot worse for us than others in the reviews.
