Our reviews had over 52 million in the last 12 months. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really love Babbo. Real Tasty!!! WE HAVE NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE BUT WE WILL COME AGAIN FOR SURE. ALL OF THE FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. I HAD THE LAMB'S TONGUE SALAD AND IT WAS SUPER GOOD. NEVER HAD IT BEFORE BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. SHE HAD THE CLAMS WITH "CRAZY TOMATO SAUCE" WHICH WAS REALLY WONDERFUL. BE SURE TO GET EXTRA BREAD TO SOAK UP THE SAUCE. IT IS THAT GOOD. FOR DINNER SHE HAD THE 100 LAYER LASANGA. VERY GOOD, VERY THIN AND HAD SOME WODERFUL CHAR ON IT. I HAD THE PASTA WITH TOMOATOS WHICH I LOVED. VERY GOOD FLAVOR AND LIGHT. WE HAD 3 DESSERTS AND LOVED THEM ALL. SEMI FREDO WITH PISTACHIO IS TO DIE FOR, SHE LOVED THE PANNA COTTA WITH STRAWBERRIES AND THE CHOCOLATE GELATO WITH CARMEL AND HAZELNUT SAUCE WAS REALLY GREAT. HENRY WAS A GREAT SERVER. HE KNEW THE MENU AND DID A SUPER JOB. SO WAS THE BREAD LADY BUT I DID NOT GET HER NAME. THEY ALL RECOMMENDED ITEMS AND WORKED AS A WELL OILED TEAM. THIS PLACE HAS EARNED ITS MICHLIEN STAR AND WE WILL BE BACK MANY TIMES AGAIN. Check out all of our reviews and look at all the photos below. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 52 million views in the last 12 months and we thank you for that. Babbo was incredible! Our group opted for the pasta tasting menu and loved every dish!

Food was delicious, Was particularly a fan of the Crudo Di Pesce, Beef Cheek Raviolli and pesto fettuccine (serving sizes were suprisingly very generous) and the service was spectacular, never felt rushed. Will Definately return here to try more of these dishes.

Wow I don’t know why this place doesn’t have even better reviews! Had an amazing birthday here, and both the food and the service were top notch. The wagyu carpaccio appetizer, beef cheek ravioli, and black spaghetti were all to die for! The pictures do not do it justice. Oh I didn’t even mention the best part - the atmosphere! So romantic and elegant.

Winter is the white truffle season, but we didn’t do that this time. Instead we had the entries, which were very good. My husband had the duck breast & confit, very generous in size and well seasoned. I had the truffled seasoned Kobe beef as the special, really try if its on today’s menu. U won’t regret it. We also did the octopus and ink pasta. The waiter was so nice that he made it prefix like.

My favorite restaurant in NYC. The blend of old world and modern dining come together perfectly with a bold yet classic menu, an incredibly deep wine list, and a vibrant staff- all situated in a beautifully spaced restaurant. I cannot think of one thing they do wrong. Top to bottom, it’s my favorite. Excited to go back to the place I love, with people I love.

Dinner here was off the charts, from service to ambience to food, wine and drinks. Perfect for a special occasion (it was) and top of the list to return to when in that area again. Highlights were the grilled octopus, caprese salad, beef cheek ravioli and black spaghetti. Booth right by the bar was a perfect fit for us.

My evening at Babbo was a culinary adventure from start to finish. I kicked things off with a house vodka martini, followed by exquisite Sicilian and Etna region whites expertly recommended by Maximiliano, the sommelier. The grilled octopus was tender, the fettuccine with mushrooms and rabbit was hearty, and the ravioli cacio e pepe was a delightful twist on a classic. The NY strip steak was perfectly cooked, while the arctic char was simply sublime. For dessert, the chocolate caramel tart and black and white coppetta were heavenly. The bartenders and Maximiliano were hospitable throughout, enhancing the overall experience. Babbo truly exceeded expectations, and I can't wait to return.

It was sooo delicious. Top 3 Italian spots I've had in NYC. Get the egg ravioli and olive oil cake

Came here on Friday night. It was pretty crowded but we had a reservation so we got seated right away. Three of us shared two appetizers and each had a main dish. All of us were very full by the end of the meal. For appetizers, we had the boiled octopus dish and the mozzarella dish. Octopus was so soft but still well cooked and tasty. Mozzarella was as fresh it can be. I never had a mozzarella cheese that was a bit runny that it melted in my mouth. Both of them were amazing and I liked them more than my main dish. I had a spaghetti with 1 pound of lobster. To be honest, the pasta wasn't amazing altho it was not bad. Three of us ended up ordering desserts afterwards. I really liked the dessert with pine nuts that was served with a scoop of ice cream.

Been here multiple times and always enjoy the quality service and food. Pasta tasting menu is a great experience but can be over filling so there is also benefit to getting individual dishes. Black spaghetti is best I’ve ever had. The Garganelli is best with the extra truffle. 100 layer Lasagna is not too filling and really delicious. Olive oil cake is my favorite in the city with a subtle hint of rosemary to pair with salty olive oil bite.

We celebrated our anniversary here and our experience was exceptional! From the very beginning m, we were treated so well! The night started off with a free chickpea appetizer that was yummy and change my husbands opinion on chickpeas. The sommelier spent some time with us deciding on a bottle that matched our taste buds and food wonderfully! For our meals, I had the caprese salad which was my fat the best I have ever had. I followed it up with their lobster pasta which was excellent. The dining atmosphere was beautiful, we sat under a sky light which brought a bit of view to this otherwise dark windowless restaurant. My only complaint is that the bathroom is extremely small and as there is only 1 on the second floor, there is sometimes a bit of a wait. I highly recommend Babbo if you’re celebrating !

T

Great to have a dining getaway experience, with great salads (arugula Parmesan), and pastas. We had the 100-layer lasagna and the short-ribs. Sommelier paired a perfect Toscana red wine for us (Alfeo).

E
Ed Alpin

The mozzarella appetizer and garganelli truffle pasta were both amazing dishes. Also tried the prosciutto and the linguine dishes as well as the lemon tart and tiramisu for dessert, which were good as well. The Babbo spritz was a generous serving and refreshing.

Excellent food and service! I can highly recommend 😋👌 A five-course meal paired with Italian wines🍷was super! I especially enjoyed Cima alla Genovese (Veal Belly) and Coniglio alla Ligre (Braised Rabbit). Everything was exquisite and good selection of wines🍷 Also, thank you for the waiters :) Great service 👏 I was super happy that I could eat a first pasta dish (Gluten-free made of rice and corn) in over a year!

M

They had a few vegetarian options which I appreciate—although I would love to see maybe few more. I got the chickpea patty, burrata and the roasted potatoes. Chickpea patty was my absolute favorite—the texture was great, crispy but soft, loved the sauce under the patty as well. Burrata was fantastic as well, very well laid out over beats and squash. Roasted potatoes weren’t my favorite but still pretty good—they had more smoky flavor than my palate is able to appreciate. Overall—would come back here next time!

Thank you Babbo for an amazing dining experience. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the conversations with our 🍷 sommelier and he made a wonderful suggestion of a 2012 Pruneto!

IMPECCABLE service! The food was good, but more over their service blew me away! I have never seen a restaurant whose staff are in sync with each other. When one person picks up a plate, another one comes right over to clean the table.

Babbo was my first Michelin Star restaurant in NYC, and I really enjoyed it! I went with some buddies to celebrate finishing the year, and this was a great place to do so. We split the fettuccine with pancetta, which was some great pasta. After that, I ordered the whole red snapper, and it was good. I don’t think I would order it again, though. The Apple Sottosopra was an amazing dessert - probably one of the best I’ve ever had! Also, the service was amazing and the prices were surprisingly not that steep considering the quality of food and service. Overall, Babbo was a great introduction to Michelin Star dining!

C

My son took me here. The food was amazing...its the tiny details that make great food. The service was attentive but not hovering and the sommelier was very helpful and very nice!

M

I've been going to this restaurant for special occasions or as just a treat or just for cravings for 4 years now. It's been so consistently amazing. The service is great. The waiters are patient. If you order pastas for two people, they'll either offer or you could ask them to split the dish and serve them one at a time which is what we usually do! Dinner for two there is the best! I also think the prices are fair for the pastas. This is just an all around great place! Love love love. Also hint :: the gnocchi my least favorite of all the pastas.

M
Mark El-Tawil

Warning: if you eat here you might never be able to eat Italian anywhere else! It’s too good.

Phenomenal service and food! Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and friendly- best service I’ve ever had at a restaurant plus the music selection was very charming and enjoyable. The food was impeccable- I highly recommend the gnocchi with oxtail, it was perfect! I shared the antipasti and two primi dishes and it was the perfect amount of food for us.

Babbo, take my money!!!!! Every time I visit this place, they do not disappoint. Are the portions small? Yes. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. The service is top-notch and the food and drinks are divine. The black spaghetti is always a go-to choice for me. 10/10 would recommend.

Absolutely stellar experience at Babbo! From start to finish, everything was exceptional. I ordered the Garganelli pasta (“Funghi Trifolati” and Black Truffle Pesto and Grana Padano) and it was truly one of the best dishes l've ever had. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the mushrooms were very unique and delicious addition, and the sauce was light and creamy. Every bite was delicious and satisfying, showcasing a mastery of Italian cooking. The ambiance at Babbo elegant, yet comfortable. This was a dining experience that felt special in every way. Highly recommend Babbo for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in NYC. Five stars, no question!

Probably the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. I had the pasta tasting menu and it was amazing. The pastas was carefully proportioned so that I didn’t get full too quickly. The service was also spectacular, one of the waiters (I forgot his name) was really energetic and such a fun guy. Disclosed below are pictures of 6/7 of the dishes we had, including the 3 different deserts our table had. The highlight of the night would probably be the pappardelle bolognese, but the other dishes were also very good. When I get the chance I will make sure to come back again. Thank you Babbo for the memorable experience.

BABBO IS FINALLY BACK now that it’s under new ownership. We are long, long, long time patrons of Babbo and we finally just gave up on them with the constant personality changes to the menu and the vibe…IYKYK. There are some great, what I’ll call, Babbo heritage dishes on the new menu…osso buco, mint love letters, sweetbreads, the 100 layer lasagna which is actually carryover from Del Posto …all slightly reinvented. The desert list is all new and bragging rights on the blueberry blue cheese budino. It’s a beautiful palate cleanser and much lighter than it sounds. And the wine cellar seems to have stayed which is a win win. There are still a few coravin selections but hope this list expands. The vibe is what it used to be in the best way and what I’m sure the other OGs like us missed. There is still great music, tonight a lot of Fleetwood Mac, thank you. Improved is the service not that I’m complaining about the previous iteration but it’s pretty nice to have your chair pulled out for you which seems like an all but forgotten courtesy. Thrilled with what the new team has done…BRAVO.

S
Sharon Gee

You sit on the same side booth and a gorgeous theatre of dining unfolds in front of you. The presentation here is gorgeous but somehow it avoids being stuffy because the music is upbeat and on point. The perfect negroni. A beautifully paired Italian wine. The finfish crudo trio. The sweetbreads. The beef cheek, chicken liver and truffle ravioli. This is what good Italian in NYC is. Only go with someone you truly love or want to impress ❤️. Make reservations weeks in advance.

Fabulous meal; huge portions of delicious pasta and meat, lovely staff and elegant and refined setting. Excellent and extensive wine list with reasonably priced options from all regions.

I've eaten at Babbo numerous times lately, and have thoroughly enjoyed all of the food. The service has generally been great also, but one of the nights I went recently, there was a let down in the service department. Our table was 22 minutes late being ready, and there's not really any great place to stand and wait, so we basically were left awkwardly standing by the host stand for 22 minutes while people are constantly bumping into you, trying to get by. All of us worked early the next morning, so it was frustrating taking so much extra time to get seated and be able to order. The food also took a very long time to arrive that night. Food wise, the 100 layer lasagna, the duck, the short rib, the mushroom pasta dish, the beef carpaccio, and the chocolate tart were some of my favourites. The Osso bucco was fine, but nothing spectacular. I'm still giving 5 stars because service has been impeccable all other nights, and the food is really great.

A
Alexandra Bissett

Really enjoyed my dinner at Babbo. It’s one of the few places that serves Egg Raviolo. While the pasta was a bit al dente for my taste, I loved the creamy center and the butter sauce. The Pork Chop was excellent—juicy but with a nice char. And I liked the pickled onion that came with it. Service was friendly and attentive.

R
Ryan Yelle

We ate dinner here on a Friday evening, and found the bar area to be buzzy and the restaurant already very busy just before 7pm. We were given a banquette seat adjacent to the big staircase in the middle of the restaurant, which allowed both of us to face the dining and bar areas. We started with cocktails, of which we found the menu to be an interesting mix of options that focused on Italian liqueurs and spirits as the primary ingredients. We shared the seared Wagyu carpaccio and rabbit and white truffle pesto fettuccine to start, and then went with the veal osso bucco and nightly stuffed chicken special to round out the meal. We found all of the food to be very good, and arrived in portions larger than we expected which provided for good value. We enjoyed several of the cocktails and glasses of wine from the list throughout the meal, and our server was excellent as well. We were pleasantly surprised with the vibe, expecting it to be a bit more stuffy and buttoned-up, which wasn't the case at all. Definitely a great place for a nice meal in a pleasant space.

Pasta Tasting menu was fantastic. Everything was beautifully seasoned. Definitely worth a try if you can get in a reservation. The dessert course was awesome, they provided our table of 6 with 6 different desserts for all of us to share! Service and Staff are amazing!

L
Lowell Levinger

We were so sad when it closed down and we are so happy now that it has reopened. What a fantastic staff. Dimitrios, Paul, and Tizzie are the absolute greatest. So is everyone else there for that matter. The recipes have changed a little, but they’re still great. And they have options that are hard to find in other restaurants like the lambs toungue, vitello tonatto, and sweetbreads. Osso buco is excellent. You just basically can’t go wrong. Definitely get a reservation. They open at five. You can even bring your dog.

J
Jared Miller

What a treat! It’s been a minute since I’ve had such a refined but unpretentious fine dining experience in NYC. Highlights were the angry lobster, the 100 layer lasagna, and the tomato martini. Come hungry. It’s worth it!

M
Michael Straky

Get the lasagna for four if you have enough people. Ribcap and chocolate olive oil cake were also very good. The espresso martini was incredible, as was the fig gin and tonic.

B
Brian Ferdman

After not having dined here in well over fifteen years, I'm thrilled to say Babbo is still treating customers to a wonderful dining experience. It's an especially nice place to take a date, as you'll be seated side-by-side. While prices are hefty, the portions of pasta are massive. I suggest splitting the pastas, as the kitchen will divide them up into two hearty plates. Obviously, the Beef Cheek Ravioli with crushed squab liver and black truffles is a rich experience not to be missed, but don't skip out on the buttery Black Spaghetti with jumbo lump crab and green chilies or the Brussels Sprouts with Pancetta. Under-ordering is solid advice, as you will easily get full and leave happy.

C
Christopher Beaty

the service is phenomenal, the space is really quiet and nice for a date or a nice night out. the food is definitely good. only complaint is that the 100 layer lasagna is no longer on the menu??? very sad but hopefully it will be back and then i will too.

K

This was one of the best places we’ve been to in a very long time. Service is an art and at Babbo, it is masterful. This was equally matched with beautiful presentation, quality and delicious menu items (ingredients, seasonings). It is an enjoyable and calming atmosphere. We had their lobster spaghettoni, pappardelle, tiramisu, and raspberry sorbet. We also highly recommend their appetizers. We look forward to trying their other items and will definitely be coming back in the future.

C
Chanell Harris

The food and service were excellent! When we arrived, they were running behind on reservations, so they gave us complimentary drinks for waiting. We were seated about 20 minutes late, but they made up for it. We were also given a complimentary appetizer of the mozzarella di bufala campana. My fiancé LOVED this. It was his favorite part of the meal. We then ordered the egg raviolo, black spaghetti, halibut, and the duck pasta special. We really wanted the branzino, but they had literally just ran out. We were disappointed, but all the food was so good, regardless. When I have the opportunity to try restaurants owned by famous chefs/restaurateurs, my expectations are always high and Babbo definitely exceeded my expectations. I would definitely come back again!

R
Randy Hagedorn

What an experience! That was the second time going to this restaurant and it was so incredibly amazing! The ambience portends an amazing dining experience. The service was outstanding and the food unforgettably delicious! I had the Black Spaghetti and it was so incredible! Would licking the plate be appropriate in a place like Babbo? Definitely not, but I was tempted! The dessert was amazing and we were celebrating a special occasion, which the staff picked up on and brought us tiramisu to share!

H
Hao Wuliao

Have to say this is the best fine dining experience had in NYC this time. Very friendly staff, recipient, hostess, waiter and manager. They all helped me nicely. Also the tasting menu here is not bad, my impressions are the squid ink pasta with crab meat and the black truffle pasta. The dessert are relatively ok compare to the food. Although the wine recommended by the waiter is really my type.

C
Chinh Chinh

Was there for a friend's birthday. We all participated in the pasta tasting and everything was delicious! Servers were all super attentive in filling waters before they were even half empty and cleaning the table after each dish and providing new silverware each time although I found it unnecessary as we were going through so many dishes. We also got to try each dessert as well. Bill was definitely expensive but nice to try once for the experience.

Incredible meal with just the most phenomenal nuanced flavors. Highly recommend the halibut and the crudo. The cocktails are wonderful. The atmosphere is lovely with beautiful festive decorations and the service is impeccable.

Outstanding Italian cuisine at this revived NYC classic. The décor is elegant and timeless, complemented by attentive, engaging service. Each dish features sublime flavor combinations that elevate it far beyond its menu description. A perfect setting for a special celebration. Babbo’s return to the NYC dining scene firmly re-establishes it as an unmissable staple.

Tried the beef tartare, mezzalune with beet, and beef cheek ravioli. Mezzalune stole the show for me. Think I would’ve enjoyed the beef cheek more if it was hot, as they brought it out too early (we were still on apps). Waiter was super kind and offered to have it remade but felt like a total waste - it was still very enjoyable. The blueberry blue cheese budino was also delightful (if you’re a cheesecake lover, order it!) All around a perfect dinner spot for date night or catching up with friends - lively, sophisticated vibe and friendly service.

As long-time customers of this institution, we were thrilled to be part of Babbo’s new opening. Hostess accommodated this solo diner without reservation on a busy weeknight in January. Very warm and welcoming and set the tone for the evening The place was buzzing. Service is on point and the kitchen delivered! Prices are fair considering the location, staffing ratio, and quality of ingredients. Don’t forget to order the tomato martini to start—a true marvel!

The entire experience at Babbo was exceptional. While the insta-famous lasagna wasn’t on the menu, instead we had the tomahawk steak which easily feeds more than 2- smooth silky perfection! The pastas were outstanding. my favorite 2 items; the carne crudo app and for dessert the blueberry blue cheese budino - both blew my mind!

This restaurant is spectacular. It is excellence to a T. The service is warm! The food is amazing. Definitely get the 100 layer lasagna, the angry lobster, the bee pollen tortellini! We also enjoyed the broccolini and the escarole salad. The broccolini side was the best broccolini I’ve ever had. The panna cotta was amazing. This place is definitely for the cultured person

On the outside, it appears to be a humble, even ordinary Greenwich Village establishment, but when you walk inside it’s a gorgeous experience that delivers the strengths of fine dining without the usual stuffiness. The service is extraordinary, the food is excellent, and the ambiance is second to none. Highly recommend the bee pollen goat cheese torteloni. The lasagna is excellent too if you have 3-4 people. Will definitely return

My husband and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and we had a fantastic meal! For primi we had the lobster busiate and vongole which were both sublime! For secondi we had the beef rib cap which was cooked to perfection! The waiter even gave us a complimentary top up of red wine so we could enjoy it with our secondi. For dessert we had blueberry blue cheese budino which was delicious and rounded off a fantastic meal. The downstairs of the restaurant was a bit chaotic when we first arrived but once we were seated the service was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back.

I’ve lost count of how many meals I enjoyed at the original Babbo, and the reboot not only lives up to its legendary reputation but manages to surpass it. Every dish was perfectly executed: the escarole salad, sweetbreads, lobster busiate, rabbit ragu cavatelli—it will be difficult not to repeat this order when I return, much as the rest of the menu is equally tempting. The cocktails were equally delicious (espresso and tomato martinis—and to clarify, these are two different drinks). The redesign is elegant but not stuffy, intimate yet lively. Service was seamless, attentive, and warm, which tends to be rare during opening week. A special thanks to Jimmy, Radu, and the delightful hostess (whose name I regret not getting). It was an absolute pleasure meeting you all—truly class acts. Long story short, Babbo 2.0 is phenomenal. Run, don’t walk.

In love with everything here! Joseph was a great server, recommend great dishes. I'd try everything if I could. Fresh pasta and really top tier olive cake dessert. Try to sit wherever you feel most comfortable 100%. I'd go with their wine more than cocktail but really cannot get over their pasta! Check out our video and follow on us both on Instagram @JadaExploresAll.

Exactly what we hoped to experience! We are huge fans of Joe and have been following him for a while. We couldn’t wait to get to NY to experience his risotto and raviolo. The service and atmosphere were spot on. The coat check and attentive staff were a nice touch. The music was lively and we really enjoyed our meal.

Pretty good overall, food and service was terrific. They had a spectacular selection of wine and whiskey. I was ever so mildly disappointed with the seating arrangement and the bathrooms. It could have been a bit better given the price point. I would definitely go back.

Beautiful Italian restaurant - reservations needed as they often are booked out. Food was above average. Good entrees include the quail and beet salad. Pastas are delicious - had the beef cheek ravioli, black spaghetti - linguine was too salty. Portions are small. Extensive wine selection. Seating slightly cramped and uncomfortable.

K
Khoi Pham

Upscale spot for Italian cuisine. Personal favorites were the braised beef ravioli, the red snapper crudo and the duck ragu special.

A
Alfonso Migueldepriego

Food quality is a bit inferior yet good. Service is consistent and very good. The octopus was ok, the branzino was formidable, so was the duck. The oxtail gnocchi was delicious. The best thing was the olive oil cake and gelato. It’s best to make reservations, after 22:30 the restaurant seems a little slow so they might be able to accommodate walk-ins.

Est. 1998 Layout/atmosphere *Fine dining establishment; bar to the right after entrance, booths to the left; tables towards the back surrounding a round table with big flower centerpiece; center staircase leads to more tables upstairs; Italian music album cover photos in bathroom Service *Good, attentive Food/drink *Mozzarella di Bufala Campana (with Rapini, Romesco & Almonds) - good; straightforward flavor *Beef Cheek Ravioli (with Crushed Squab Liver & Black Truffles) - Good; fresh pasta *Brussel Sprouts (with pancetta) - good *Olive Oil Cake & Gelato (with Primo Two Ways & salt) - good; interesting taste from the mix of different flavors

I was excited to try this restaurant! When I arrived I parked on the street. I walked into a beautiful restaurant. I was sat and Garson was my waiter and he was excellent! I started with an amazing red wine. I then had two pastas, the ravioli and the tonnarelli. My favorite was the tonnarelli! Everything was just so so good!

Z
Zhuo Z

Their service is as superb as always. I mean you might find places with similar great service like this, but it is impossible to triumph over theirs! The veal with tuna sauce is extremely delicious. The sourness in the dish is so savory and enticing. The tuna sauce is so light and refreshing and umami. Although I think I would love it even more if the veal were thinner which would give it a better texture. Although I feel like their cooking technique is a bit slipping. The pasta dish I had - there is a huge chunk of pasta strings sticking together. It is with white truffle, so I am kind of disappointed. In fact, I think this dish tastes better if they were to serve a smaller portion. The reason is that it does not taste as good as it gets cold, plus I would like a higher truffle to pasta ratio. Again! I wish they weren’t so generously with the portion size and if the broccolini were less “charred”

K
Kevin Loo

Service is really good. Our waitress was attentive as are the other staff. That earned them the 4- star. The food is not bad but I expected better from a Michelin star restaurant. Their pasta is quite good but the rest is average at best.

J
Jason Sheardown

Typical very good dining experience at this Greenwich Village institution. Food and drinks were delicious, and the service was both friendly and the right amount of attentive. We sat upstairs this time which is a great space for a date night or special occasion. But you can't go wrong with grabbing a bite at the bar or main floor after work either.

N
Neulyn Moss

This place was incredibly good! We did the pasta tasting menu and most of the dishes tasted unique but still classic. The wine pairings were genius, the sommeliers need raises. It does not get 5 stars from me because the tasting menu was not proportioned correctly and the last three dishes were very heavy and large, also I bit too classic and boring for me. Heavy is ok, especially with those delicious red wines, but I don’t know how well they took in to consideration the amount of heavy food. We got to desert so incredibly stuffed but because the dessert was sooooo tasty we did still finish it. The staff was so attentive and very sweet. They even wrote happy anniversary on our dessert plates! I would definitely come back here, but I might just order à la carte next time. (I didn’t get a picture of every dish)

Good food and great service. It's been a while since my first visit and I don't think the food is as good as it used to be. Still a nice dining experience. We were recommended two bottles of very nice wine. Our party shared a number of dishes, including the radiccio salad, rapini with burrata, prosciutto, black ink spaghetti with crab, pasta with rabbit ragu and the pork chop. My favorites were definitely the lasagna and the garganelli with mushrooms. Dessert was disappointing. The pistachio and chocolate semi freddo lacked pistachio flavor. The olive oil cake with gelato was better but I prefer a denser olive oil cake

N

Had a very good dinner here. Lamb chops was tender and cooked perfectly. Ravioli was amazing but small portion. Squid ink pasta with crab was good but not great

T
Tay Jacobe

My partner and I came here for an anniversary and enjoyed ourselves! This is a classic, upscale Italian restaurant in NYC. The servers are very attentive and helpful. The lamb chops were spectacular, and the pastas we got were good, but nothing super special. The pear ravioli is unique, but the portion size is truly tiny, with just a few small raviolis. Overall, a good experience though!

Stepped into Babbo with some great memories of the old days there… the atmosphere still hits and the service was great but the food isn’t quite there yet. Might just be some opening jitters — I’m planning on coming back in a few months.

I recently revisited after regularly going here for years. The place feels refreshed and energetic. The scene and the tables downstairs to people watch are a great vibe. The food was great. The pasta a little over cooked, we had the goat cheese tortelloni. Steak was great, so was dessert, chocolate olive oil cake. Will definitely be back!

Irma Zandl

Staff was wonderful - super friendly and helpful. And as a solo diner I was made to feel especially welcome which I always appreciate. The ambiance/vibe is a little too old school/corporate for me but I'm sure this is going to be a very popular spot for business/client dinners etc. I ordered the fish crudo (3 types), the vongole pasta, the zabaglioni and I had two glasses of wine. It was good but not remarkable. The highlight for me was the cheese served with the bread at the start of the meal. I believe it was mascarpone and it was absolutely scrumptious.

Michael DS
Michael DS

Went on opening night and the food was fantastic, but the service missed the mark. We never received bread and our table seemed overlooked compared to others. We interacted more with the sommelier than our actual server. I’ll return — hopefully the service smooths out as they settle in.

We were so looking forward to having lunch at Babbo. I had watched its celebrity chef cooking on TV and liked what I saw. We were seated on the first floor. It was dark and small, like an old small townhouse. I was expecting a packed house due to its reputation. But on a weekday lunch, it was not busy. The food was only average. I have had much better Italian food. Not impressed with the service either. Perhaps the chef had moved on to the newer part of his culinary empire and neglected this older one.

M
Melissa Calhoun

We visited New York for the weekend and chose Babbo for a nicer dinner experience. I agree with the reviews that mention the off putting rock music. The music does not match the setting and is very loud. The service was fairly subpar for the price. We had to waive our server down several times. I got the black spaghetti and it was just okay. We would likely not return.

B
Bobby Craig

All in all, it was fine. Food was okay and the service was sort of strange (the waitress seemed really flustered or nervous to talk to us and kept trying to get us to order more drinks despite us telling her we were done). As other reviews say, the music was rather loud and seemed to not fit the vibe of the restaurant. We ordered the lamb's tongue for an appetizer, were given the bitello tonnato, questioned a server about it... and he looked at us and acted as if we were silly and told us that vitello tonnato _is_ lamb's tongue. Pretty disappointing. Likely won't come back and wouldn't really recommend it to friends. Quality, service, and price all seemed a bit out of congruence.

C
C J

I have to say, it’s been a while since I have been back to Babbo. Was here for the Enoteca Piedmont event. The wines were good but the appetizer potato salad was flavorless and the desserts were underwhelming (we even ordered an extra dessert - the olive oil cake). Neither the desert included with the meal nor the olive cake was very good. The pasta and the short rib were delicious however!

L
Laura Hoffman

Service, cocktails, ambiance and dessert were a 10/10. We did the pasta tasting and wine pairing which we would skip next time. The portions are on the small side (even for a tasting menu) and the wine selection was OK (we didn’t do the reserve so I can’t speak for that). The staff was knowledgeable about the wines which was nice. Overall, we weren’t blown away with the majority of the courses, so the value didn’t meet our expectations.

J
Jeroen Mol

Overrated; service and staff are perfect. Food and wine not very good and prices to high (for European standards [Italian?]). It’s not worth the price. The rush to get you out is not very nice.

J
Jerome

Food was good but only a few really stood out (squid ink pasta and olive oil butter cake). Service was disappointing and felt like we were being rushed out of the place. Wine and the Somme were both outstanding.

J
Joshua Fyksen

I was looking forward to trying Babbo. I would have thought of this as a classic. I would have been wrong. The decor was drab. The room felt dank. The music was good, but it had four or five songs by one artist at a time, first Elton John, then Queen, then maybe Springsteen, then it went out entirely. The service was warm and efficient, but there were a lot of staff on the floor and I don't know who was in what role. The food was just dated. The best dishes I tried were the octopus and a radicchio salad. The crab pasta listed serrano chilis but had no heat and the crab itself was bland and without flavor. The biggest disappointment was the pork chop with cherry tomatoes and cippollini. The pork was horribly overcooked (they didn't ask a temperature). It was covered in bell peppers and chopped onions, there was exactly one cippollini and half of a cherry pepper. We sent it back and it was removed from the bill. The restaurant could only be described as tired. There's so many better options not far, try those.

caitlin silk

We had a 7:30 reservation and were not seated until 8:15. All we got was an "I'm sorry." Did not get comped anything for making us wait. Food was good, but should not have been made to wait that long for our table.

P
Phillip Salvador Lee

Babbo is a popular Italian restaurant that's on the Greenwich Village. Price point, it is a pricey place. Portion wise, most plates are small. The ambiance is cozy, dim and packed. WARNING, the music in the restaurant was extremely loud (like your typical bar) which made it difficult to have a conversation, when asked to to turn the music down a bit the guy said "it's always been like this". These decibals can make any person go deaf, don't get me wrong, I love Bruce Springsteen and some head banging classic rock. Service was great, however food was better than average with the warm tripe and octopus being the popular starter. For mains I had their Fazoletti (rabbit mushroom ragu) which was good however not my favorite. Dessert was their olive oil with Gelato and cake which is found quite innovative.

D
David Joseph

This place is not worth the hype or any struggle to get a reservation. The space hasn't been renovated since it was opened in the 90s. The service was fine but I couldn't even say who our server was for our meal. The food was fine, but not worth the price at all. We enjoyed the beef cheek pasta. I would go back, but only if someone else was paying and I would be totally indifferent to my expectations of the event. This restaurant is The Smith level of quality with food that stopped being uniquely fantastic decades ago.

y
yev fedosenko

I have to say, that everything here was good. We enjoyed our dinner here. Pasta's were very good. Ambiance was romantic/ good nyc vibe. No complaints on Service. The only reason I cant give this place higher the 3 stars is purely the prices. Prices at nyc restaurants are just getting out of hand in my opinion. $95 veal chop, $150 steak, etc... yeah, I know I dont have to go out or order these items. Its just that these same dishes just a few years ago were 30-40% less. Now appetizers are the prices of what entrees were years ago and entrée prices are outrageous! So when you get the check at the end of a nice dinner out , now you just begin thinking... was that really worth it?

S
Shamus Khan

There’s no real magic here. The service is lovely. But the food is just ok. Had the tartare, celery Caesar, orecchiette, lobster pasta, and veal Marsala with polenta. Nothing was really special. The tartare and Caesar were good but not visit worthy. The lobster was very saucy and the pasta stuck together. The orecchiette was good but not what it was in the previous iteration. The veal and polenta were fine but quieter heavy. The wines were fine though the 3oz Barolo at $45 was way over priced. We walked out spending over $300 per person. I would say I’ve had as good meals at Italian places half this price. It’s good. But as I said, nothing magical. Not really worth a trip. Nothing wrong. Nothing special.

I’ve loved this restaurant for over a decade and it was always one of my go to New York favorites, which makes this review disappointing to write. Under the new ownership, nearly everything that made this place special has been removed from the menu. The 100 layer lasagna is gone, the semifreddo amaretto dessert is gone, and even the signature arugula salad that so many regulars loved is no longer offered. The menu feels stripped of its identity. I ordered the vongole and unfortunately became severely ill with food poisoning. While anyone can have an off night, the combination of a dramatically changed menu and a food related illness makes it hard to justify returning. This was once a place I enthusiastically recommended to friends and visitors to the city. Sadly, I can no longer do so.

I had heard so so much about Babbo! Avoid! Terrible experience. Worst service. Felt rushed through out. They kept on making us feel like they wanted us out. Terrible Babo specialty. Beef cheek ravioli. Bad bad! Papardelli bolognese. Lame taste. So so average Beef cheek ravioli. Totally avoid. Signature dish??? Really?? Rushed service! They kept on trying to push us out of the place. Terrible experience. No bread till much later. No butter. Bad bread. Never going back again.

Richard S

Extraordinarily bad food here, the ceviche is jammed into little holes and didn’t taste fresh at all, possibly the worst ceviche we’ve had in a long time. The clam volgone was inedible, the clams old and fishy smelling. The pappardelle bolognese was decent, but the noodles super tiny, as was the portion. We asked about the lobster pasta dish, they said it was mildly spicy but it was very spicy, so we couldn’t eat that either. The server was completely uniformed about the food, took away our plates before we had finished eating, gave us a check while we were still eating dessert? The place wasn’t that crowded either. Didn’t feel at all like the old Babbo, one of New York’s great restaurants in the past, although it looked the same. The bathrooms are still terrible, nothing was done there. Most astonishing was the $233 bill and feeling like we hadn’t eaten anything. This place felt like it was making money off of old memories, not bringing back an old great restaurant.
