Craving a taste of Tokyo in NYC? Conway Diner in the East Village perfectly blends classic diner comfort with incredible Asian-American fusion. The absolute star is their Wagyu Sando. This melt-in-your-mouth delicacy features flawlessly breaded, tender Wagyu sandwiched between pillowy milk bread with a savory katsu sauce. It’s a decadent masterpiece that will instantly make you miss Japan even more! With its cozy retro vibes and friendly service, it’s an easy 10/10.
TLDR; I wasn’t expecting a place branded as a diner to serve the most elegantly and well cooked pork chop I have ever had (veggies steamed perfectly too). Compliments to the chef. I walked into Conway Diner five minutes before their breakfast menu service ended (at 3pm) quite hangry and craving diner food. They very graciously offered to serve me breakfast even though it was borderline time wise, but their lunch menu was extensive so I just decided to order the pork chop instead. It was one of the best cooked pieces of meat I’ve had in a long time. Also the portion of meat was LARGE! Tender, just the right amount of bite and grain still holding it together. Flavored so well - not too sweet, with real flavors not just strong flavors. SO good. Makes sense now why there’s a diner in the middle of EV!
I had pretty high expectations going into this dinner and they were all exceeded. The ambiance was very soothing and charming, and the service was phenomenal. The food was also absolutely wonderful; every dish that came out for my friends looked amazing. There is not a bad dish in this restaurant, everything was amazing. I can’t wait to return in the future!!!
The food was incredible and the staff was even better! From the latte and oysters to the pancakes, you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. The oysters are great quality, extremely fat and juicy and tender. born and raised in nyc, im telling you this mom and pop shop is one of the last comforting gems left in manhattan. Will be a monthly go-to for us locals from now on! Really wish we went sooner!!
Holy smokes, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a restaurant where everything was so good! Genuinely shocked and just filled with happiness at every bite. Me and my partner got the fresh calamari, Thai spicy wings and beef stir fry noodles and also some oysters and gawd dam they were all good!!!! This was my first time trying oysters and the flavor of everything just left me baffled. Usually I don’t think a spot is truly a 10/10 but this was above and beyond, super friendly and got free ice cream! Definitely will be coming back and if you read this far on my review then you should already know that you’re going to be coming here. I highly recommend everything here.
Food was bombbbbb!!!! Everyone was extremely sweet and the food came out fairly quickly. We got the chef special: Thai spicy chicken wings, crispy calamari, the udon beef, and fresh oysters. Everything was incredible, it did not seem like a lot of food but it was so filling. The chef came out and he was so friendly and everyone else is also so kind and makes the process so easy. The chef explained how doing a party here works and was so informative. I'll definitely be coming back on the regular and also to do a party here!! I really recommend this place and you will not regret it!
stopped in on a whim (with a quick book on resy) on a saturday at 5 & had an amazing experience. we mostly had the place to ourselves which was great because we both don’t like crowded spaces. the service was so attentive & atmosphere cozy with great people watching through the front window. sleek design, clean spacious bathroom. now for the star of the show: the food. there’s quite a few choices that intrigued me making my meal choice a bit harder but man i’m glad i went for the rigatoni despite being hesitant. i cleared my plate, which is rare for me, but i couldn’t put my fork down, yowza! so many flavors & the hint of heat was perfectly level enough to make it through the end without quitting! my friend also enjoyed his house special shrimp immensely. i will definitely be back to try more of the chefs creations! plus, chef was so sweet giving us a choice of dessert as we celebrated birthdays as well as bringing it out while singing. if you’re thinking about it, give them a try!
Excellent Food, Fast Service & Great Vibes! Had an amazing experience at Conway Diner! I started with their Seafood and Margaritas Linguine – absolutely delicious, packed with flavor and perfectly cooked seafood. Then I tried the KBBQ and Spare Ribs with Rice – tender, juicy, and full of smoky, savory goodness. Every bite was satisfying. Also tried a few of their drinks – the Mimosa, Mojitos, and something called the Trader Joe – all were amazing and surprisingly affordable. Great flavors without the hefty price tag! The service was fantastic – super quick and friendly. Everything came out promptly, and the staff made sure we were well taken care of. To top it off, the meal came with a dessert pudding – a sweet, creamy finish that hit the spot. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for both families and couples. You can tell they really care about the quality of the food and the overall experience. I’ll definitely be coming back – highly recommend!
This diner has an easygoing, welcoming vibe with warm lighting, and friendly service that makes it feel both cozy and lively. The drink menu is a standout, offering crisp mimosas, refreshing mojitos, and even creative cocktails inspired by Trader Joe’s favorites. For food, the tender short rib plate and perfectly cooked pastas are must-tries, while desserts like the light, creamy yogurt pudding provide the perfect finish. Great atmosphere, excellent drinks, and comforting yet elevated dishes make this spot ideal for anything from a relaxed brunch to a laid-back dinner.
The atmosphere, food, and, service were on point! Jason, the chef, came and spoke with us. Incredibly kind and such a great story. I’d recommend this for friends, family, dates, whatever the occasion. They have easily shareable plates. 100% ordering the popcorn chicken and wagyu sandwich every time I come back. Outstanding flavor on everything.
My bestie and I were looking for a place that would suit both our taste buds for the night. I wanted seafood, she wanted a burger; after a quick google search and menu browse, we decided on Conway diner. An Asian American Fusion Restaurant. We made it just in time to be seated as the last patrons of the night, giving our outing an exclusive feel. The overall experience? 10/10! The food quality, vibe, service and price were all perfect. I had the seafood linguine, and when I tell you the seafood was so FRESH?! My friend had the burger which came with coleslaw (that was prepared more like a pikliz and I TRULY) enjoyed that 🙂↕️). At that point my friend and I were surprised that the place wasn’t packed! That’s when we found out they’ve only been open for about six months. We got to meet the chef, thanked him and our server profusely and made a promise to let everyone we know about this place. If you ever find yourself on the lower east side, make sure to check out Conway Diner! 🍔🍝
Visited with a friend. Find the place in the heart of East Village. The restaurant is kind of small but with good atmosphere. Perfect for family or dating. The chef came out to introduce himself and suggested some specials. I personality loved the short ribs. Over all, the service was superb and the price is very reasonable. Not much restaurant I've visited will give you that kind of service and good food for the price. I am planning to go back with my family soon.
The food is excellent here. I cannot explain how good it was. I had the Hamburg with an Egg Benedict. The meat was so tender and it has a great wagyu taste. It comes with a salad and soup before your main meal. The kimchi is made in house and tastes so good. The soup was classic flavors and looks upscale. Also had a Matcha Latte and it paired perfectly. And if you love Matcha, the Matcha pudding for dessert is light and creamy.
Awesome place, located on second avenue. As I arrived with my family, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Took our order fast. As we got out food, we did enjoyed every single bite of it. At the end, the chef came out and greeted us, a special gentlemen. I barely give reviews but this is a special charm place and it was a must!. I recommended it 100%!!!
Solid Hong Kong-style pork chop here - crispy outside, tender inside, and well-seasoned. Comes with decent portion of rice and veggies. Place gets loud during dinner but service is quick. Prices are fair for the area. Would come back when craving simple, satisfying comfort food. The beef short rib is also worth trying👍
Just had one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time at the newly opened Conway Diner in the East Village. Although their menu isn’t heavy on vegetarian-friendly options, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. The chef and the owner, Jason, personally stepped in to craft a custom, one-of-a-kind vegetarian dish just for me—and let me tell you, they did not miss. Every bite was packed with flavor, creativity, and genuine care. You can feel the heart and hustle in this place, and that alone makes it worth visiting. Between the warm service and the mouthwatering food, Conway Diner has officially earned a spot on my must-return list. Absolutely Helwa Approved.
We really liked this new neighborhood spot! We walked in with no wait on a Saturday night. We got the calamari and brussel sprouts to start. We were surprised the brussels were fried but loved them anyway! Especially the sweet chili mayo sauce. The rigatoni with chicken had a good level of spice and good tomato cream balance in the sauce. My wife loved her beef udon noodles! Plus, it is currently BYOB! We will be back!!
