Great wine selection and happy hour. Server was great a recommending wines that we ended up liking, and gave us a few to taste beforehand to make sure we got something within our preference.
Grace & Oscar are amazing!! The suggestions and attentiveness to their guest was a great joy to experience! Such a great location and good vibes!
I had an amazing time at Ten Bells this weekend. The service was awesome and the bartenders were great. Ben ( I think that was their name) and Taylor was so great! Will come back again!
Love this place! I've also been to the Lower East Side location, and they are consistently amazing experiences. Max and Amorelle were attentive and patient. I felt welcomed and enjoyed the fare. Let's not forget the music! Amazing!
Cute space. Popped in for a happy hour carafe with friends on a Sunday. The bartenders were friendly and attentive even at full capacity. Great place for groups of 4-6.
overall very good ambiance and vibes but service was slow at peak times. they did give us free oysters to compensate however
Run, don’t walk to this new spot. Great tapas, the heirloom tomato salad is excellent, and the happy hour is a great value. We will definitely be regulars here.
The bartender on Mondays at 6/7 is a martini master and the service ticket game was legendary.
absolutely love this spot! great tapas and wine. good for a date, food with friends, or drinking wine and reading alone at the bar. staff is friendly. get there early for happy hour!
Tapas were great for sharing and very tasty (duck rilletes and steak tartare were definitely highlights). Wine list is affordable and there's a good selection. We had the red from samur and it was perfect by the window on a hot night. Relaxed ambiance, bartender was attentive and knowledgeable, I will definitely be back.
I came here two days in a row because I love it so much. Just the best relaxed vibe with delicious wine and food. Lovely backyard. The staff members Oscar and Mia were so welcoming and wonderful to us. So happy the ten bells is in my hood! Xo
Love coming here with my friends. Always a good time and love the outdoor space. Servers are friendly and kept the water and drinks coming. Fresh oysters 🦪 happy hour is the best!
Come for the cocktails and stay for the food. They have a great brunch menu. It was hard to decide what to get but I was very satisfied with the burger. The dinner menu looks amazing too so I will definitely be back to try that. The service is great. The staff is warm and friendly. They give off a very welcoming neighborhood feel.
Was an awesome experience! Oscar was so sweet and gave great recommendations! Get the sardines if you havent and get them again if you have. Really great spot! Thanks!
Absolutely amazing service from Grace, the recommendations and wine suggestions were absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this place! She offered us a wine that wasn’t on the menu and we decided to buy the bottle and it was really good!
Amazing spot for relaxing after a long day, catching up with friends, and enjoying an nice glass of wine. Plentiful wine selection. The bartender -Andrew is remarkable- friendly, gracious; a wine connoisseur and overall very welcoming! The happy hour was a plus, I will definitely visit again..and again… and again!
Lovely evening, great atmosphère, oustanding attention from the staff. Great wine sélection My favorite dishes were My cheesy mushroom bites and the chocolate mousse. Will definitely return.
the food is good the service is the best especially Oscar the bar tender. he is kind and attentive. He makes the event more enjoyable.
Visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday for a date night with my husband and we both loved it! We ordered the yuzu margarita, mushroom and ham+cheese croquettes (they come two per order), two carafes of the red wine, steak tartare, and mac and cheese and it was all so good! I'm seeing mixed reviews about the service but from my POV, I prefer not to have someone coming up to me every 5 min pressuring me to buy something or pay and leave. So in that regard, I loved how chill the staff was and it let us really enjoy our night and order each plate slowly as we were having wine. Stayed here for 3 hours without pressure from staff and that's not something usual in NY but definitely prefer this experience so will be coming back!
Great place to come and enjoy some small plates (especially during happy hour) and yap in a cozy environment. The oysters are fresh and the mignonette is delicious. The fried artichoke hearts and the fried shrimp were the standouts as well. We love Oscar! ¡Viva La Bushwick!
Happy hour here is a must!!! Oysters are lovely and lots of different tapas options. “Beakers” of wine (a carafe) are only $20 and so delicious. I will definitely be back very soon!
My friends and I recently grabbed Post dinner drinks at this location and really enjoyed our experience. It was a late Friday night and although the place was pretty busy, we were able to find a nice corner at a high top table near the front of the bar, the bar is beautifully decorated, and it feels like you’ve been transported out of Bushwick and into Paris, the staff are very friendly and there is an excellent selection of wine available. Would highly recommend if you’re visiting the area or living here also, the prices were quite decent.
Had the best start to our night here! Service was amazing, Beatrice was the best. Delicious orange wine, one of the best I’ve tried. Tapas and charcuterie..chefs kiss. Will definitely be back, had a great time. Music is a vibe too.
The Ten Bells BK is the Brooklyn location of one of my favorite LES tapas bars — and while the BK location can’t quite reproduce the authentic twenties/speakeasy vibe of the original, it makes up for it with a full (liquor licensed) bar and far more space. Just like the original, the tapas themselves are delicious with every bite. My partner and I started with the boneless sardines and (DIY) pan con tomate, followed by the steak tartar — one of the best I’ve had in NYC — and finished with the ham and cheese croquetas. Beyond the food we had during this dinner service, The Ten Bells has also been one of our favorites for happy hour — with an awesome oyster deal that is hard to beat, particularly when paired with the long sunsets of summer. Whether you’re just starting your evening ahead of a long night at the Bushwick clubs, going for a casual drink and snack with friends at one of the communal high tops, or looking for your next foodie favorite, the Ten Bells BK is one of the most versatile and delicious spots in Bushwick.
Eloise was super attentive and knowledgeable 💖 We had great drinks and oysters. Long live Happy Hour 🍸
i was feeling down and wanted to treat myself to some oysters after work. after using insta to look up places with happy hours i found out this place that ive actually walked past dozens of times and never checked out. thankful that i did give it a shot because the oysters were delicious (although the ice for them melted FAST) and the service was quick and kind. something about sitting streetside and having oysters on a nice june evening is just so perfect!
We had a great happy hour here! Our waiter gave us the best service (guy with pink streak in his beard) We really felt taken care of. We ordered the happy hour martinis, oysters (small but delicious), patatas bravas, and the sardines. All were delicious.
Such a good spot! We really enjoyed the sardines and shared an excellent bottle of wine. Oscar was the MVP of our evening, all his recs were on point, we loved it!
FABULOUS happy hour menu. our server was so nice and so friendly, it really left you not wanting to leave and go anywhere else. if i lived in this area, i would go here more often than would be good for me. the tartare was excellent, the wine carafes are $18 during their very generous happy hour (5-7pm), and the beets were on the top of my list two.
Eloise spun up martinis that cured our case of the Febs! We posted for a few too many oysters and people watched the foray of first dates. If any other sounds appetizing, drop in!
Honestly the best priced Happy Hour on Maria Hernandez with $7 Wine on tap, $1 oysters, and $6 shrimp cocktail
I had come to eat here with my brother who is also a fellow food service professional and foodie on one of his last days in the states before moving back to Australia, and the experience that we had was so unexpected and unreal. We came from two other restaurants whose kitchens were closed m whose hours were posted incorrectly And stumbled into this place, not knowing that it was an institution locally. The offerings on the menu in regards to provisions were outstanding and unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The wine is insanely good. The service staff is super fun and loves doing what they do and love sharing the bounties that the restaurant has to offer. I will be coming back. I will be bringing friends. I will be bringing dates.
Had a wonderful dinner at Ten Bells with three friends, and everything from start to finish was exceptional. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening with great conversation. The service was fantastic, attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. We shared a variety of tapas, all of which were beautifully prepared and packed with flavor. The standout for me was the mushroom croquettes!! crispy on the outside, creamy and rich on the inside. Absolutely delicious!
Great HH option in BK! $1 oysters, small but tasty. Drinks also strong and affordable option to get a nice snack and drink in. The atmosphere/vibe is great too.. there is a back patio and even seating out front. Came in as a walk-in right around 645pm to squeeze in HH and got seating right at the bar.
I really enjoyed my time here. Perfect wine, perfect ambience, good charcuterie board. I will recommend this place for a date if you’re into wine. I love the pattio outside. My server was the Dominican guy, he was great, funny and recommended me a really good white wine, Muchas gracias, primo 😛. Definitely coming back to try the Oyster.
Came here for happy hour for my birthday and definitely did not disappoint. Taylor was very nice and the service was excellent. I love the vibe of this place. It definitely feels like you’re in the city. And I love the lighting and decors. We had their $1 oysters and happy hour drinks. Oysters were fresh and good and our drinks were great as well. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!
Came for cocktails and convenient location, came out relaxed happy and filled with amazing food as well. Great ambience (table lighting provides enough to read menus and see each other without straining your eyes while maintaining an intimate feel). I got the Lion’s Tail and I highly recommend it. Has the bourbon sweetness without too much burn.
Cute tapas bar. Unfortunately they did only have wine and beer which was slightly disappointing. However they did have Estrella Gallicia and super bock. Tapas were deffo authentic and delicious, just kinda pricey. Overall good experience, felt like I was back in Spain!
Cute local spot with small menu. The Irving Spritz was my favorite. The French decor also gives it a more upscale vibe.
I went for 2 glasses of wine and olives. It was nice and relaxing. the bar is close to the door, so not much room to socialize. Overall great place to hang out
Great place for a date. The happy hour is really good. The oysters were ok, not great. But decent for $1
Although I went on a Saturday night, the atmosphere inside was overwhelming. It was so loud we had to take an outside table, but that’s not a big deal. It did look nice inside so some sound dampening would help that. The wines we had were great, although I felt like the oysters could have been a bit more chilled. I’d love to return on a less busy night.
This is a great happy hour spot. We came for pre-dinner drinks and ultimately ended up getting two carafes for pretty cheap (house-chosen red & house-chosen orange). They came in cute Erlenmeyer flasks. Also grabbed a dozen oysters. These were fine-nothing special. Mignonette sauce pretty standard, hot sauce available. Maybe a bit on the smaller end. We made a reservation but there was plenty of space and I appreciated the variation in table options (high tops, booths, etc). Nice bathrooms, which I also always appreciate. Would absolutely come again for happy hour if in the area.
I wanted to give this 5 stars because the food, wine, and (mostly) friendly service make this a great place worth checking out. It has a warm and environment, great for getting together with friends and having an easygoing night out. Unfortunately, I must have gotten unlucky with my server. It was just me, since I wanted a place to wind down after meeting with my last client. I was seated at a booth, was given a menu, some water, and then waited for my server.....and waited...and waited. No one came to take my order and I ended up flagging someone down who wasn't my server but ended up taking care of me anyway because I was completely looked over. So thanks to Oscar for saving the day and giving me great service, despite it not being his job to wait on me! Absolutely no clue what the deal was with my original server because everyone around me got service and I somehow was missed entirely. Would have been a perfect experience if I didn't have to keep flagging down poor Oscar to put an order in for something. Really hope my tip went to him!!
This place is so cute! Love the outside seating area. The happy hour goes on till 6pm and includes drinks and appetizers. I would recommend the potato bites, super flavorful and well seasoned. But the cheese plate was pretty disappointing for $26. As you can see in the picture there were no real fruits in sight. I would for sure go to this place again and try other items on the menu just because of the cute outside area. New gem in Bushwick!
Ten Bells continues to be one of Brooklyn’s most reliable wine bars. Lively, and consistently enjoyable. The wine list is thoughtfully curated, with an impressive range available by the glass, including draft options during happy hour at genuinely reasonable prices. I especially appreciate being able to find Spanish beers on offer (a small but distinctive touch that sets it apart) The tapas menu is extensive and well-suited for sharing, and the oysters are consistently fresh and well-priced, making them an easy go-to. I’ve been coming here for several years and have yet to have a truly bad experience. Most recently, on Valentine’s Day weekend 2026, we walked in around 6:30 PM after a stroll through the park, no reservations, fully expecting a long wait. Despite a packed room and what appeared to be a slightly understaffed floor, we were seated without issue and still managed to catch happy hour. Service was understandably slower given the volume, but never inattentive or unfriendly. The energy remained warm, not chaotic. Even at full capacity, the space maintains an inviting, neighborhood feel rather than tipping into frenzy. Ten Bells isn’t about flash. It’s about good wine, solid small plates, and a dependable atmosphere. For happy hour alone, it remains one of the better values in the area and a place I’ll continue returning to.
This wine bar is a great spot to head to if you’re looking for a happy hour in Bushwick! The seafood is very fresh and the spanish style tapas almost makes you feel as if you were dining in Europe. I highly recommend the octopus. It comes with a yummy sauce and a decent sized portion of oily potatoes. The flavors paired so well together and I highly recommend ordering this one for the table. The wine was also incredible and so was the service. Thank you for a wonderful experience. 6/5 for sure!
the place itself is such a vibe, like rustic speakeasy energy. the mood lighting makes for a great date spot! as for the food, imo it’s a hit or miss, you just gotta order the right things. (Bare with me bc I don’t remember the names of the dishes) My favvv was the mac n cheese w/ mushrooms, and the marinated tomato crostinis. I could eat a dozen of those crostinis. Sooo delicious. The sardines were also really good! The artichoke dip had way too much cheese, and no where near enough artichoke for my taste. The spiced fried potatoes were okay, but nothing special. And the oysters were sooo disappointing. We all had sand in ours, and mine not only had sand but pieces of the shell, so it was like chewing on sand and glass- had to spit it out and we sent them back:( The margaritas were very nice, but I wish they were bigger lol. They have yuzu liqueur in them which really sets them apart from other margaritas.
Friendly service and a good place to bring a group for happy hour. We had 10 people and we ordered a pretty large assortment of oysters and some of the other tapas plates for the table. Most people had the happy hour martinis, which were tasty. The oysters were the best oysters I’ve ever had, a little bit on the small side, and some of the shells were cracked (we had some thing like six or eight dozen so the poor guy was probably struggling to keep up), and I would say these were relatively low quality oysters, but “ok”.
I think my favorite thing about this place is the back patio. Although there are a lot of mosquitos. It feels very much like an East Coast Maine thing eating oysters in a green, breezy, shady patio. The happy hour special cannot be beat... $1 oysters at 4pm! I ordered the duck rinette/rounette/rillette or something as well and found it too plain. But oysters - very good.
Came for the happy hour: $1 oysters, $6 glass select wines ($18/carafe). The oysters were small and tasty. I was disappointed to see they were served bare on a plate (no ice) and much of the liquor was lost to spillage. The shucker also did not loosen them from the bottom shells. The steak tartare was fresh and really delicious. The baby gem salad was exactly what you'd expect (and was delicious). The croquetas at $9 for two STOLE THE SHOW! Imagine a thick creamy mushroom soup encapsulated in crispy panko, with sweet/savory onion jam............. 🤤
One of the bar tenders is abusive and harassing ( during Salsa). He is kind of short, skinny, pony tail. I think his name was Fiddle. And I am so regretful that I didn’t tell his boss right there because I didn’t think he would react. They were all very young, super friendly with each other and kind of drunk. That memory ruined my new year’s eve, and I was thinking about the horrible feeling of it for days. But I want to be fare, besides that specific bar tender and the loud music, the bar is nice.
The $1 oysters for happy hour are a pro, and the drinks are good. However the service isn’t very consistent.
The food and wine was nice but severely overpriced. Two croquettes for $11 doesn’t feel right
I enjoyed the vibe but got grossed out by the glassware and the oysters. The water glass tasted like a dirty bar. I suggest they wash all their glasses in a hot dishwasher rather than under the sink. The oysters were poorly shucked and dirty, and the ice around them was mostly melted.
I love the place, its a nice location but there's this server who's always making women uncomfortable, calling us baby or darling or mi amor and lingering and starring, it really deters me from going there I don't like leaving bad reviews but i hope this gets to management and somethings done ab it because women are tired of feeling uncomfortable
This location used to be dramatically better than the lower east side location but today it felt like a lot of staff recently quit. the caesar salad was water logged and it took 20 minutes to bring us a side of bread that we ordered at the beginning of our meal. i used to really love ten bells dispute the service because the food would hit but unfortunately that may no longer be the case.
Great bar, good happy hour. Need to do something about one of the waiters though. He's always making uncomfortable comments to women and calling them "baby" and "darling." I've never left this place without a friend saying how the waiter made them uncomfortable.
I was looking forward to visiting for over a year - we finally made it - food was really mediocre. They left the vein of the shrimp in the pan de camarones. Big no no. It was so obviously on display. The server had to have noticed. The pork belly was very odd and tasted a bit old. And the oysters just ok. Will not go back. We had to get up to o ask for the check because no one came back after the last dish was served.
We were having hight expectations about this place, is not just food is also service. Food was good, oysters fresh but what really disappointed us , was that we order extra Alioli for our patatas bravas which arrived at the end of our meal, when they weren’t no more patatas left and even like that , they charged it as an extra in the bill !! I said that when we were about to pay but was never removed, if they need extra hands they should hire more staff!!
Freezing Tuesday night and I was feeling like a new place. Walked in and the place is immaculate. Gorgeous!!! Sat at the bar and the bartender was unwelcoming at best. The fact that they don’t carry seltzer water is kinda weird. I did started my night saying I wasn’t drinking so I kinda maybe understand the lack of interest from the bartender. So I ended drinking tap water lol Papas bravas were gorgeous, jamón serrano felt a little old and the chorizo was just ok. I hope to come back to a table, next time I’ll be drinking.
Didn’t get food poisoning but my god the food to price ratio is insane. The portions would be good for cats but not humans. They should also add sound insulation because the noise level indoors when the doors are closed was INSANE when all tables are filled. I ended up wearing ear plugs to better hear the people at my table. Also had to chase waiters down to get orders in.
Cute place, but that’s the only positive thing about it. The inside is *extremely* loud and with even louder music playing on top of the din, it makes it impossible to not be yelling. Not really a date spot as described. While the server was super nice, the oysters were suspect (smelled bad, wouldn’t eat them) and the food was extremely flat and blah. The wines were disappointing and not really what we were asking for or expected, given what we ordered. I’m a chef, I didn’t expect a gastronomical experience here but i also didn’t expect it to be inedible. The oysters were taken off our bill but we didn’t eat much of the other 3 things we ordered and no one even asked why or asked how things were (bland, not seasoned, not fresh). Spend your money at Los Hermanos if you’d like a good meal, this is not the spot.
Waited over 30 minutes for just a martini. Servers seemed to be stressed because service overall was inattentive & rude. Our server took our waters away without asking if we were done. Seemed like a hostile way to kick us out. Would not go back 😕
Great wine, but beware of the bartender tricking you unawares into exuberant tips.
Such a lovely spot but while I had a tab open here, there were two attempts to charge my card for random amounts, not including my actual bill. Luckily they were flagged for fraud by my bank but now my card’s been cancelled and despite many a delightful evening here it does make me hesitant to return, and to hand my card over. How unfortunate.
Worst place ever! Food sucks and is overpriced. Service is unfriendly and disrespectful. I AM NEVER COMING THERE EVER AGAIN. They make you pay hundreds of dollars for wines that cost $20. Worst place in the area.
this is hands down the worst restaurant i’ve eaten at in the 8 years i’ve been living in brooklyn. it’s giving Fridays at the airport for sure. first of all it took almost 30 minutes for the server to finish organizing the menus for an empty house to take our order only to forget what we ordered because he didn’t write anything down only to return twice to ask what we had ordered cause he forgot. you needed a magnifying glass just to see the shishito peppers and the $14 artichoke dip came in a petri dish with a side of canned sourdough chips from 1978. i know im being silly in this review but it’s only only way im going to be okay with spending what did for literal garbage. seriously there are so many even half decent places that are better than this place and are actually reasonably priced.
I tried to contact the restaurant about an unauthorized tip on my card and they don't care so I'll have to be the person that writes a bad review. On September 30th, I went to ten bells with my friend. We split the bill, she left her tip on her card while I left cash. However, both of our cards were charged for the tip. So I ended up leaving a double tip. On October 1st, I contacted the restaurant with receipts and asked to be reimbursed for my tip. They didnt respond, so on October 14th I followed up. They responded on the 16th asking for more time. I didnt hear anything back, so I followed up again on October 25th. I haven't heard anything since. I have worked in restaurants for the past 12 years - an unauthorized tip is a very serious professional offense and looks horrendous on the business, so anytime such thing has happened in any of the restaurants I have worked in, it is handled immediately, often with a bonus of a free entree or the check being taken care of entirely. I really don't like being the person leaving a bad review with screenshots, unfortunately that's the only way to get a business's attention. I would like this matter to be resolved promptly.
Love The Ten Bells! Just to let everyone know that the only drink on happy hour is the Martini for $10 from 4 to 7. I visited on 7/24 (they deleted my comment from their Instagram post where they advertised happy hour drinks)
My friends and I felt that the female server with the black curly hair was rude to several of us. Her tone was rude and she seemed annoyed at having to serve us when we were trying to celebrate our friend’s birthday. She placed food items down halfhazardly and even elbowed one of my friends in the process. The only time she smiled was when she brought over the check, which is when we tipped adequately for the bad service. We were not checked on once the food was delivered, and even though we wanted more wine it was impossible to get because no one was around to ask for it. We also got maybe 5 pieces of extremely small bread and multiple of us (8!) were sharing cheese platters. We wanted to ask for more bread since the cheese had an extremely strong flavor, but we had to use our existing patatas bravas because no one was around to ask. Overall, we were having a good time and had a joyful vibe for the occasion we were celebrating, we just wish the people around us would have been happy too.
Hello Owner or Manager reading this !!! PLEASE you MUST make sure that everything you serve to the costumer is always in good conditions! Fresh! Not spoiled! I don’t know how are you getting delivered the oyster (((if they are storage in the proper temperature o not))).. or how you do it in your kitchen. But I got Food Poisoning by eating at your restaurant HAPPY HOUR OYSTERS Disgusting. I spent my day at the ER because of you and unfortunately I’m still feeling really sick and unable to work. MY ADVICE avoid this place I always wanted to try this place because looks gorgeous and always full of people (I did ) and I thought “has to be fresh” but is NOT. I’m really sorry for this post but this can’t happen to any more costumers because of your poor quality oysters Hope you fix it so no one dies 😂
My boyfriend and I have visited this establishment twice, and unfortunately, both times we were completely ignored. Most recently, yesterday we sat at the bar and were not acknowledged or offered any service by the female bartender despite it not being busy. As locals, we genuinely wanted to support a neighborhood spot and gave it a second chance, but the consistent lack of attentiveness from the staff left us feeling unwelcome. Certainly, we will not be returning.
I can’t overestimate how bad the service was here. The host was genuinely upset when we asked if they had room to seat us. When we did get a seat (in the far back, despite many open tables), it took 20 min for waitress to come, then 45 min for our drinks despite re-prompting her. Cool vibes wasted with a substandard team of employees. Will never return.
I've been here a few times before for happy hours and light bites and drinks with friends and it's a beautiful space but I will not be returning because of how I was treated with my friend the other day. Our server effectively called us broke. We came in just for a happy hour drink on a Tuesday evening. It was pretty slow. Our server was initially very nice and friendly, but you could tell he was quickly getting annoyed at the pace of business, which I can empathize with as I've been in his position but it is nobody's fault it is a slow day. Which made it even a bit more hostile to be given an attitude about only ordering a drink each because it is not like we were holding a table that was going to be needed for another party, in addition to some people really just only want one drink and do not want to be pushed to drink more. We were not checked up on a single time after the fact which was fine since we weren't in need of anything but was noted. The issue came when the bill was presented. Granted, I don't want to put my business on here but since this is how I was treated I have to.My friend and I are both budgeting right now. There's a looming recession and just some things are rough right now so it is looking like using cash for the tip and putting the bill on a prepaid visa gift card to go out with the girls. I know that this can be annoying. I have worked in retail and restaurants before anything that slows you down can be frustrating. But before I could even ask my friend if I should just do it or what not the server, seeing cash in my hand and a prepaid card in my friends hand says "it's literally just $24". First of all, crazy to talk like that before the receipt is even signed with a tip. When we put it on the card, he was angrily swiping it then threw it back at us on the table. It is just disrespectful considering how nobody has any money nowadays how about having some perspective that these girls are probably broke until payday on friday and out of many bars in Bushwick chose to come here for their allowable disposable income pittance just to be called broke by a server... who is probably two more weeks like yesterday's from being in my position anyway. nasty work not coming back here
Main points: Servers were confused Portions are microscopic Oysters had shells bits in them Main takeaway: Maybe this is a good place to impress someone, since the ambience is nice, but if you actually enjoy food and connecting with others, don’t come here. It’s not worth your business or memories as of my last visit. However, I hope that if you visit, that you’ll have a better time than me ♥️ Details: There was one particular server that was an exception to one of my main points. He was charming, did his job well, and generally was great. He had an orange beanie on and a beard, and I deeply regret not tipping him directly with cash or asking for his name. The other servers weren’t like him. It’s ok not to smile/be super happy, but please greet me and direct me to where I can sit. Additionally, I’m concerned about how servers switched their serving tables often and also, don’t write down orders. That’s just a recipe for mistakes. They seemed confused or, to be more cynical, standoffish. Like they didn’t want my business there. We went for happy hour, I would suggest to not let the $1 oysters entice you. They were very small, which is fine but just be aware of that, and more importantly, had shell bits in them. I don’t care how affordable food can be, it should never have shells or other scraps, especially in an establishment that charges $28 for a cheese plate. And focusing on that, the portion of that cheese plate was comical. It was tiny, with the smallest possible spread of honey. About the size of a grape. For $28, especially given the types of generic cheeses on that plate and the fact that this is a tapas bar, I expected something much more shareable. The plate also came with some bread, and we tried a carafe of wine as well. The only comment I have with the wine is, why did they serve it in a beaker? It doesn’t match the aesthetic of the place at all. That’s just me being nitpicky though. We laughed about it ✨ In the end, since the meal was so light and we already spent nearly $100 with tip, we had some fries nearby to fill us up and went on our merry way. Since this is a place I don’t ever see myself coming back to or recommending to anyone I know, I have to give it a single star. However, again I hope that if you try this place, that you’ll have a better time than me ♥️
yesterday i had great time at the oyster happy hour and the ambiance was also lively and cool. HOWEVER, i got - unfortunately - food poisoned and i puked on the subway while coming back home (tragedy!), my boyfriend had “only” belly pain and cramps instead. i understand that raw food is very delicate matter but more check ups must take place to guarantee safety for the costumers.
I had a deeply uncomfortable experience here. During my visit, the manager (who staff referred to as “Chulo”) made repeated disparaging remarks about Black folks in Spanish within earshot of guests and staff. It wasn’t subtle. Beyond the comments, there was a noticeable difference in treatment between Black and white patrons. Black walk-ins were not seated despite there being available space, while white guests were accommodated. Tables of people of color were ignored while white customers were attended to first. It felt intentional, not incidental. I left because the environment felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. I hope ownership takes this seriously and investigates.
I loved the Manhattan location—I’ve been there five times! I even told my boyfriend to come because they’re usually great. But I don’t know what went wrong this time. The bartender came over twice, and it really felt like they were trying hard to push us out 🥹. They brought us the check while we still had full glasses of wine. We were thinking to order more.
