A Cantonese restaurant just five minutes from home, right in Alhambra During the Lunar New Year, this is where our family comes most often. It’s perfect for holiday gatherings — bright, spacious, with warm lighting. Once the tables are set, it instantly feels like, “It’s time for a big feast” 🧧 We also come here regularly for dim sum, and a friend even hosted a wedding banquet here before 🎎 When it comes to ordering, everyone’s usually on the same page — we just get whatever we feel like, and it’s never the same twice because there are so many choices. The first dish to arrive was salt-and-pepper squid — crispy on the outside, tender inside. Once it hits the table, it usually disappears in seconds. It’s the kind of dish you finish without even realizing it while chatting 🦑 The dry-fried beef chow fun is very well executed — the noodles aren’t mushy or broken, with great wok aroma. Elders and kids alike can enjoy it. The typhoon shelter–style clams are packed with garlicky flavor, tossed with crispy garlic bits. Lightly spicy and super satisfying with rice — also great for casual family conversations. One of the more distinctive dishes is the lotus leaf–steamed frog. As soon as you lift the lotus leaf, the aroma comes out. The meat is very tender, and paired with Chinese sausage, it has great layers of flavor — something you don’t see very often around here. As a Cantonese family, vegetables are a must 🥬 The garlic stir-fried pea shoots are light and refreshing — garlic goes with everything! The Baiyun-style chicken feet are sweet and tangy, perfect as a cold dish to nibble on while chatting — honestly so enjoyable, haha. By the end, we were already full, but then they brought out complimentary almond milk with black sesame tangyuan 🍡. The sweetness was just right, and the staff were truly warm and welcoming.
🔸 Roast Duck (FREE with $80+ order 🆓) Crispy skin, tender meat, and just the right amount of richness. 🔸 Steamed Tilapia The price is seriously unbeatable—only $15.99! Where else can you find that? You have to have fish for Lunar New Year for the “abundance year after year” meaning, and this one delivers. 🔸 Sizzling Clay Pot Frog Full of wok hei! It was still sizzling when it hit the table. The meat was super tender and served piping hot—so flavorful 😋 🔸 Black Bean & Pepper Clams Strong fermented black bean flavor—so good! The only thing missing was a bowl of white rice. It would’ve been perfect with rice! The veggie dishes were great too: • Dry-Fried String Beans – perfectly cooked, not greasy at all, and very reasonably priced. • Winter Melon Braised with Pork Ribs – light, slightly sweet, and comforting—very homey and festive. • Marinated Tofu & Soy Sauce Duck Combo – only $5.99! Such a steal—don’t miss it. ✨ And here’s the highlight! They’re rolling out special new dishes for the New Year, including festive seasonal items. Ordering a full table for the family is honestly great value for the price. ✔ Perfect for family gatherings ✔ Classic banquet-style atmosphere ✔ Generous portions ✔ Lots of festive New Year dish options
A classic Cantonese restaurant in LA that’s perfect for Lunar New Year gatherings Honestly, the Lunar New Year vibe in Los Angeles isn’t always about lanterns or decorations — sometimes it’s found in an old, reliable restaurant where the whole family can eat comfortably and happily 🥢 Before the Lunar New Year, I took my family to this Cantonese restaurant in Alhambra. The environment was very comfortable, with spacious table spacing. You hear Cantonese all around, which feels truly authentic. The service was steady and reliable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Their dishes aren’t flashy, but they’re the kind you can keep eating without getting tired of 👇 🍃 Lotus leaf–steamed frog: light and delicate, very tender, and easy to enjoy bite after bite 🧄 Typhoon shelter–style clams: perfectly garlicky, served hot and quickly cleaned off the plate 🦑 Salt-and-pepper fresh squid: crispy outside with a nice chew inside, cooked just right 🥬 Stir-fried pea shoots: clean and refreshing — a must on any shared table 🍜 Dry-fried beef chow fun: not greasy, noodles intact, beef tender — classic Cantonese fundamentals done well A really heartwarming touch was the complimentary soy milk & black sesame tangyuan 🍡 after the meal. Warm, lightly sweet, and not cloying — the perfect ending. If you’re looking for a Lunar New Year spot where: ✔️ elders feel comfortable with the food ✔️ the family can chat without too much noise ✔️ the dishes are consistent and reliable This place is a great choice. Sometimes, the feeling of the New Year is simply sitting around the same table and enjoying a good meal together 🤍
I came on a Sunday around 11am. There was already a small line but I did get seated right away. They still have the proper cart Dimsum. I got the $20 lobster noodles. It is served with 1 lb lobster. On the smaller side but still adequate for the price. It was very good!
A very solid Cantonese restaurant in Alhambra with classic flavors done right. The dishes here are not trendy, but deeply comforting and well executed. The lamb stew and soy sauce chow mein were highlights, and the typhoon-style crab was fresh and flavorful without being greasy. Service was warm and thoughtful — they even offered dessert at the end. Great value for the quality, and you can tell this is a place many regulars return to. Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate traditional Cantonese cooking.
Came here with a group of friends for dinner. This place has been around for a long time in LA and is a well-known spot for Cantonese cuisine and dim sum, the quality and flavors are definitely still there. I usually come here for dim sum, so I was pleasantly surprised by their dinner specials. A lot of dishes were only $12.99–$15.99, which is a great deal. they were offering a free chicken and duck when you spend more than $80
My family and I usually come here for dim sum and sometimes dinner. Dim sum carts are usually full of items to choose from. Its always hot and fresh. Only thing is sometime when the place is super busy it might be hard to get some items. Like the egg tarts. Dinner dishes are pretty good too. Seafood here is great. Service is sometimes bad when they're busy but most of time its good. Overall I really like this restaurant. Its my go to for dim sum.
This 18-year Cantonese spot seriously delivers unbeatable value on seafood✨ They serve all day from dim sum to late-night, and parking is a breeze with plenty of spaces in the back. Just don’t come late on weekends—you will be waiting! Dim sum highlights: Crystal shrimp dumplings are plump and juicy, the braised chicken feet are fall-off-the-bone tender, and the stir-fried rice noodles with beef have great wok hei. The beef itself is super tender and generously portioned. Can’t-miss mains: The typhoon-shelter lobster is crisp on the outside and perfectly tender inside. The Seafood Treasure Pot (sea cucumber + abalone + fish maw) is rich and comforting. The sweet pea & red geoduck combo is crunchy, clean, and cholesterol-free—pair it with the watercress almond soup to balance everything out. Pro tips: Arrive before 11 AM to avoid lines. For the dinner seafood specials, book ahead—they do sell out. Service is simple and straightforward, but the food more than makes up for it. Great spot for family gatherings or casual meetups with friends!
We’ve been coming here on and off for years, and tonight reminded us why. We ordered the king crab prepared three ways, along with a few other dishes. The crab was the undeniable star — unbelievably fresh, sweet, and succulent in every style. Every bite was rich with flavor and perfectly cooked, the kind of seafood you don’t forget. And at just $35/lb, it feels like the steal of the century. Excellent meal from start to finish. This place deserves way more love.
Tried Top Island Seafood Restaurant in Alhambra — really solid Cantonese spot! We ordered the steamed tilapia, beef chow fun, salt & pepper squid, and beef brisket hot pot. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The fish was super tender, the chow fun had great wok hei, and the beef brisket soup was so comforting. Classic Hong Kong–style restaurant vibes, spacious dining room, quick service, and generous portions. Great place for family dinners or late-night cravings.
Here for dim sum on a busy Saturday morning.....about a 20 min wait. Not bad. Get a number from the lady in a red jacket, tell her how many in your party. This is Cantonese style cart service. Hot and delicious dim sum. Some standouts were the super generous mountainous portion of soy sauce chow mein. 5/5 The boo loo bao, two ways. Try the savory bbq boo loo bao. It's awesome and enormous. 5/5 shoutout to the rice meat tamale wrapped in a leaf...the rice is sticky but not overmt, the meat is yum...this is not the kind with an egg yolk or peanuts, its just meat with sticky rice. 5/5 Highly recommend. TIP...you can't order it during dim sum, but if you are transitioning from dim sum to lunch at around noontime, and if you like lamb, the lamb hotpot will make your tummy smile.
Had a great experience with this restaurant yesterday. We got a room for a small family dinner to celebrate our newlywed. The service was great, price is reasonable for the food portion. Average to be 23~/dish. Seafood is a bit on the expensive side for the room but they are fresh and steamed fish was cooked exactly on the right timing. Waiters and waitresses are friendly and communicative to attain our needs. The whole family agreed that the food was delicious and they enjoyed the atmsphere so much.
Top Island Seafood Restaurant in Alhambra is a bustling spot for top-notch Hong Kong-style seafood. The garlic-steamed lobster was tender and fragrant. The deluxe seafood pot, packed with abalone, sea cucumber, and fish maw, was rich and satisfying. We also enjoyed the refreshing almond-watercress soup. This place is a gem for seafood lovers.
I recently dined at this restaurant and had an amazing experience! I got to enjoy my first king crab of the year, and it was absolutely fantastic. The beef brisket and radish casserole was rich and comforting, while the rose soy sauce chicken had a delightful hint of rose flavor that was both unique and delicious. The star of the meal was the king crab prepared in two styles. The crab legs were perfectly steamed with garlic, showcasing the sweet, tender meat, and the crab body was stir-fried in the “Bifengtang” style, which added a wonderful crunch and depth of flavor. We truly savored every bite! To round off our meal, we indulged in a dessert soup that was equally delightful. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful dining experience. We can't wait to come back for more! Everything was just outstanding! Highly recommended!
Top Island Seafood serves up fantastic Cantonese cuisine, with their crispy chicken being a highlight. The dish features tender chicken and shrimp paste encased in a crispy, golden skin—definitely worth trying! The watercress soup is a unique offering, with a delicate balance of sweet and sour notes that’s both refreshing and appetite-boosting. The rest of the menu also impresses with authentic Cantonese flavors. Convenient parking and attentive, friendly service add to the overall enjoyable dining experience, making it a great choice for a taste of Cantonese food.
One of my favorite Chinese seafood restaurants. The king crab, lobster and steamed fish are to die for. They are fresh from the tank. Food is delicious and service is great. Be sure to ask for the chef special dessert. The special clam and geo-duck stir fry with snow peas is another to-die-for item. Dim sum is tasty and available until late afternoon. Nice restaurant for wedding banquets, birthday parties or other events.
Good dim sum. According to my friends, who are from China, it is authentic Cantonese food. All I know is that it is delicious! Busy, fast-paced, sometimes a wait--but worth it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because a couple times the tea cups were either dirty or sticky & had to ask for clean ones.
