Great food, great price, great people. So happy we live so close to one of the best diners I’ve ever been to.
Had a wonderful lunch at the Chuck Wagon Diner today. Tried the homemade Chicken Pepper soup which had a nice kick of heat and was perfectly thickened. Also tried the hot dog with homemade meat sauce and onions which was reasonably priced and had a wonderful tasty sauce that was dry enough to not run down my hand...a plus for me. The waitress was very accommodating since I was working and sat me in the back room away from the door and even turned an extra light on without my asking when the clouds rolled in. Had to try the made in house "cream puff", which was not a cream puff, but when something is this yummy they can call it whatever they like! Crispy pastry with a warm cream center served topped with berries of your choice and whipped cream...wish I had taken a picture. Super glad I stopped in to get some work done...mission accomplished and a super experience to boot. Plan to go back!
Luv diners ! Cool deco and food was very reasonable. Blueberry stuffed French toast was yummy.
As always the Chuck Wagon delivered excellent food promptly and also delivers a fun diner experience. A well stocked oldies jukebox @ 8 songs for $2. All around BEST value.
Fantastic food, fantastic people. We go there at least once a week. Its like going home to Mom's. There breakfasts are top notch, love their homemade soups and her specials each day are always wonderful. Chris, Mackensie, Rob, keep up the great work. Thank You!
Best Breakfast and lunch PLACE ever. Unbelievable great food and prices. The owner is always happy and full of energy. She calls it the "Happy Bubble " The regulars are amusing and the support crew is AMAZING! I would recommend this to the highest extent!
We were visiting Howes Cavern and on the way out we wanted to try out a local place. We all know Local places are always a gamble. Boy did our bet pay off! We loved it. Felt like we traveled back into time. Cool booths. A diner bar. Juke box. And nice art on the walls. A nice family run business. We were greeted by the daughter and waited on by the mother who were both extremely nice. The food prices were reasonable and the food quality was above expectation for a diner. Wife had the fried chicken plate, I had the monte Cristo, and my kids each had a kids plate. It was Delicious and yet We didn’t finish it all. Highly recommend!!
Great diner for Sunday brunch!
Freaking love this place. Love the customer service, atmosphere is fun and cool, huge menu and everything is delicious and fair prices.
Absolutely love this Diner. Food is always amazing. Serving sizes are just right. Prices are more than fair and the waitstaff is amazing. Perfect hometown feel from a hometown Diner!!
Fantastic diner. The staff was friendly and the food was great. They were great with the kids, and gave them a "prize" after their meals. It has a 50s feel along with a jukebox where you can pick the music.
The food and service is amazing! The staff makes you feel at home and the food is so delicious. They are incredibly kid friendly. If you're looking for a great place to eat, I highly recommend the Chuck Wagon Diner.
Let's just say I pulled in just to stretch our legs during a long drive. The owner came out to tell us they were closed, which was fine by me. His wife came out and talked to my navigator. They went inside for a bit while I walked around my car a few times. They came back and had given her a free cup of coffee and offered me one. She even offered to make a sandwich, at NO COST! VERY nice people. I do love "Diner Food" anyway. If they were open we would have eaten there.
It was. So nice to go there simple home made food the people there regs you could tell. The guy that seated us (Ron) was dressed up as a leprechaun he was cute as a button. They were going to be serving their St Paddy day dinner because they had to close on the 17th because of a snow storm. So as I was saying Ron introduced us to the others in the dinning rm so we could all talk like we knew each other forever. They went out of their way to make you feel welcome there. We enjoyed it so much that we are planning to bring our son and daughter in law and grandchildren to have dinner there. They live in NY and I'm sure That they will make it a regular spot for their special outings.
Was passing through with a friend who lives in the area. The waitress was really lovely. Hands down the best eggs Benedict I've ever had in my life. They apparently have some upcoming events that I'd like to see. Good community diner
Swung in on my way to work this morning for a bagel pick up since Dunkin was closed, first time. Food, atmosphere and cashier were 11/10. May just come here more often on my way through!
This place is awesome!! My dad and I stopped by on the way to Buffalo and we were hungry- good thing cause you get a sandwich, side and cup of soup for only $10?! Food and service were great, and was taking the mask/distancing seriously.
We were just passing through for work and was looking for something local, we are huge supporters of small businesses. They were busy but were still able to offer great service and the food was awesome. We will definitely be stopping out next time through the area.
This place is great. Food is tasty and hot. Service is quick. Prices reasonable. We go out of our way a bit to stop here when traveling i88.
We went for breakfast. The service was excellent!! Everyone was super helpful. Brought us plenty of coffee, water, anything we asked for. Food was very good too. Would definitely go again
If you love old fashioned diners with super food, definitely check out Chucks. Been there several times with my son, awesome service, food and atmosphere.
A very cheerful, clean, cozy and friendly atmosphere. The food is just delicious plain and simple. My wife and I truly enjoy coming here. And you cannot beat the prices.
family environment and fast great diner food just like when we were kids
Neat joint. We stopped here heading East and had a great experience. The service was excellent. Not sure if it's a husband and wife team, but they worked in unison and made sure we had what we needed. The food was excellent.
The best diner experience I've had. People were so eager to greet us 2 employees attempted to seat us at once. Food was phenomenal. The entire staff was extremely pleasent.
We pass through the area regularly enough to have been here many times. The staff are all friendly, even though they don't know our names as they do for most of those who eat there! The breakfast items we've ordered are always properly prepared, and the coffee hot, but the one time we ate off the lunch menu we weren't thrilled and decided that in the future we'd stick with breakfast, which they serve morning and afternoon (we've never made it there the one evening a week they're open for dinner). They always have breakfast specials which are very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is a welcome step back in time so we look forward to returning.
Food was reasonably priced and delicious. I would recommend! Word of forewarning: if you don't spend more than $50 (I think the cashier said that much), they impose a credit card usage fee. It wasn't a ton, but it wasn't clearly marked, in my opinion. There is a small printed note on the front of the cashier station explaining this. Might be more helpful if the waiter/waitress explained this, or maybe if it were in the menu. Heck, for all I know, it is in the menu, and I missed it. Still, this place is worth checking out.
When I walked into this place I felt like I was in a time warp back to the 50s. It already looks really cool from the outside but when you get in there you realize it's authentic. Food was great, prices were great, staff was fantastic. The owner even came by and introduced herself. Would definitely go back again!
Stopped in with my husband and son for a quick meal. Two of us had omelets, which were delicious. My son enjoyed his hamburger. Service was good & the food was prepared quickly. Each booth was partitioned with plastic shields and digital distancing was enforced. Pleasant experience. Thank you.
We visited today for the first time. The food & service were fantastic 👌 Loved the jukebox!
Great prices, great food, spectacular staff! This place is a true gold pile when you come here. They give you water before they give your beverage you order to cleanse your pellet and then after giving you the original beverage you ordered it seems like five minutes and the food is already on the old fashion diner table ready to eat. After you finished your meal you get a free dessert which is always a plus. I can't wait to come here again sometime as it is a great place to eat.
Kris and staff are far beyond one of our favorite places to visit in Daunesburg with our family. She has seen our kids grow and they love her and being there. We feel like family every time we go! Small town love.
If you like nostalgic atmosphere and great food….this is the place
Never disappointed in food, service, price or atmosphere. Highly recommend, you will not be disappointed
This is a must try diner You won't be sorry. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. The prices are unbeatable for the quality and quantity.
Really cute old diner. 50's kitch and a simple menu
My wife and I LOVE this place! Great food, great atmosphere, and great people. It's hard to find a place anymore that still has that small town feel where the owner and staff actually care enough to get to know their customers by name.
One of the best diners in the area. Great food, friendly staff and fair prices.
Started my day right by having breakfast at the Chuck Wagon today. The food is delicious, a good portion and reasonably priced. There are always two specials of the day. Saturday morning was very busy, but food was prepared quickly. The owner is hands-on and treats everyone as friends. Service is attentive but not suffocating. We were pleased with the check amount. The diner is 50s Era in the front with a counter and booths for seating and a juke box in the corner. The extension room has more generously sized booths and an area for a larger group, so if you have more than four is your group you should call ahead to be sure you can be seated together. One entrance has a ramp, and a wheelchair fits in the bathroom, but the tables a w/c can be accommodated are in the aforementioned large group area, so again, I recommend calling ahead for seating with a wheelchair.
My boyfriend & I stopped in for the first time, we both got chocolate chip pancakes, bacon & eggs & some corn beef hash. Everything was super delicious & we both enjoyed our meals, & we very much appreciated the friendly staff & service. We will definitely stop again :)
What a great establishment! Always friendly and fast service. From Breakfast to lunch, dine in or take out... never had a bad experience. One thing that keeps me coming back is Chris's soups...never know what surprise she has in store for ya :-)
I wish I could leave more than 5 stars. I've never had a bad experience here! The Chuck Wagon was one of the best things about moving to Altamont as it is so close. You can't find these kind of prices anywhere, the food is always amazing, you get water as soon as you sit down, and I have never had an empty coffee cup! The owner is a sweetheart, the diner really provides that comfortable family feel.
We go here at least once a week, usually twice. Always great food, friendly atmosphere. And the jukebox plays the best music!!
Service was excellent as was the coffee and food. And she kept coming back with more coffee.
My husband and I like to come here every Sunday. Food is great, prices are reasonable, friendly staff. It’s hard to find a good small diner to eat and we are so glad we did!
Always great food and service when I’m up to visit.
What a wonderful little diner!! Coffee is hot, fresh and constantly near. I never saw the bottom of my little yellow mug. "The Jake" was the clear winner since 3 out of 4 of us ordered it and (almost) cleared their plates! I opted for a smaller portion: a side of hash with an egg over-easy on top and still couldn't finish it 😅 Folks were friendly; I definitely, highly recommend!
This is an awesome diner with a great atmosphere! It feels like you are stepping into another time the minute you arrive. That feeling continues as you are greeted with friendly staff and treated like family. The food portions are generous and are reminiscent of a home cooked meal. Im excited to attend one of the car shows they have here on Saturdays, along with a live band. Don’t miss your chance to experience all of this charm in one place!
WOW.. what a perfect example of what a diner is! Service was spectacular, they're VERY attentive. You'll never run out of coffee, wait staff was friendly, and the food was DELICIOUS! I had a western omelette that came with a side of your choice of bread and I chose hash browns. Omelette was very tasty and fluffy, best western omelette I've ever had, seriously. Not to mention the pricing was cheaper than most diners. For two people meeting breakfast we spent just under $24!Thank you for making my day!
Great quality food.. All around the best diner by far..
The Chuck Wagon is the quintessential diner! Showed up for lunchtime and everyone ordered either breakfast or lunch. My meal came with soup as well as my sandwich. Everyone got what they wanted. Set up is classic with all the memorabilia. Everything should be. They even gave the kids a couple lollipops pops for the ride!
Great food, low prices. Staff knew the locals.
Wow, never ate here before, will be back for sure! Super inexpensive and excellent. Split a mushroom, onion, cheese omelet, side of bacon and sausage links the fat links and cherry cream cheese French toast w my son and we got burgers to go for dinner. All for $52. Not bad at all!
Chris and her staff are absolutely amazing-food is fast, fresh and cooked to perfection. The perfect way to start a Sunday
Cozy little diner with great freshly cooked food. Staff is nice and service is friendly and fast. I would visit again when I am in the area. Great breakfast sausage links.
Excellent place to enjoy a meal. The food is the best around, the service can’t be beat and the atmosphere feels warm and inviting. Love it there!
It's a great diner. The atmosphere is just what you hope for, and the service is the best! Oh, the food is delicious, there is always something different.
Went for lunch on a Saturday and loved the vibe here. Glad we stopped in!
Definitely will be back! All 5 stars they deserve it!
My son and I stopped in on a mini vacation. This place is awesome. Super friendly, welcoming, and great classic diner atmosphere. This is a place to return to.
We go to Chris' at least twice a week. Her soups are fantastic. Everything about it is great. You're made to feel like family. A must try.
First time going here and we will definitely be coming back. Stopped for breakfast. Good food, good service, good atmosphere. I love the history of the diner itself.
Stopped here on the way to a football game, immediately fell in love with the place! The service was really excellent, the atmosphere was cozy, fun, traditional diner. It felt like... comfort? Like familiar, though we'd never been there. My Reuben was amazing, the soup I had I don't even know what it was exactly but it was also amazing. My kid loved the place so much he hasn't stopped talking about it. He thinks we should go at least once a month. We stopped again for breakfast recently, and the same feelings applied. It's such a great place, and I cannot get enough of the atmosphere and the good people in there. :)
Great place, A shiny metal diner with a small jukebox at each table. Truly a 1950s to 1960s feel, it's really a cool, feel-good kind of place. Great place for breakfast, 2 eggs, choice of meat, choice of potatoes, toast, and coffee for $8.99, alot of food for a good price. The place for a true bottomless cup of coffee. Highly recommend stopping here to eat. It's worth the drive or the detour. I can ensure you won't be disappointed.
Visited this diner for the first time with my two littles, met the friendliest people, they held great conversations, had the best music playing which had my kids and I singing while we waited, we didn’t wait long at all for any service, the food quality was top notch diner expectations, coffee was delicious. Can’t forget to mention the very nice bathrooms that accommodate to littles. And boy the price we paid, you can’t go wrong!
Well kept diner with great food and friendly staff. They have daily specials with homemade soup and breakfast all day. The prices are reasonable.
I’ll be honest… we knew to expect diner quality, but whoa! Hold the phone! Everything we enjoyed was delicious and well-thought. Hubby said his corned beef hash was cooked absolutely perfectly… quite the compliment from a picky eater. The homemade biscuits and gravy? GET. OUTTA. TOWN. Seriously. Friendly service as well and they appear to have a nice local following. Also if you love jukeboxes like I do, their big one is in working order and well-supplied with song and album choices. Thanks for tolerating several James Taylor songs in a row. We’d love to stop by again in the future.
Love, old-fashioned diners! The food was great and service was excellent. It was very busy, but we did not have to wait long at all.
No pics.....was too busy enjoying our brunch. Was going to go for poached eggs but then the waitress said stuffed french toast! It was delicious! At 11:00 on a Sunday morning, the line was at times, out the door. There's not many tables (maybe 15) and about 10 counter stools. They are not stingy with the volume of the jukebox so if you're looking for quiet then this isn't the place for you. Staff very friendly and attentive. We'll be back.
Friendly - inexpensive - good food. Need to move the check out area. Too close to the entry door - causes a traffic jam with people waiting to pay. When I was trying to check out I had to wait while 2 parties blocked the area waiting to get seated when - I could have simply just paid and left.
This place has been arround sense I was a kid. Great diner food with even better prices. The service is old fashion, no snarky kids. I would go here to eat for a quick lunch or I could take it easy and have a nice meal with the family. I give 4 out of 5 stars becuase the menu is pretty basic and simple but the atmosphere and the prices make up for not having a fancy menu.
Service was great but the food fell short. Please actually toast the english muffins and not just warm on the grill, also the side of bacon was a whole 3 small pieces.
Just passing through town and it's dinner time ..or should I say diner time... The customer service was so sweet and the food was amazing....next time...
Trippy dinner. Decor is throwback to the heady days of the 1960s with notes to the 1950s. Elvis, John Wayne, Scar (from the original Lion King), and the Virgin Mary all decorate the teal and purple walls under a tin ceiling. Lighting is handled by circular chandeliers with shaded glass chimneys. Very cowboy-esque. I was in for breakfast, keeping it simple with 2 eggs, sausage links, toast, and hashbrowns. The sausage was classic pork and sage with a natural casing. Two eggs sunny side up, cooked beautifully by today's standards of absolutely no color on the eggs. Toast was great with completely melted butter. The home fries were mixed. All they were, were some cubed potatoes cooked and given color by some paprika. Perfect home fries had crisp edges and fluffy interiors, along with some carmelized onion and sauteed peppers. Very, very few restaurants or diners make them correctly anymore. Pity. I will be back. This place is a long-lost gem, and I look forward to trying it out again.
I live close to here. It's really good. Nothing fancy, decent food, good service with a fifties vib.
We found this out of the way place while out driving around on a Sunday morning. The place was busy but the 4 of us were seated right away. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming, despite us not being one of the locals that obviously filled the place. Our orders were taken promptly and our food arrived quickly. Unfortunately, 2 of the orders were incorrect. It took until almost the end of our meal before we got the right food. Despite the order mix ups, the food was very good, and the portions were large. I enjoyed everything I ordered. Despite the order problems, the quality of the food and friendly atmosphere will definitely bring me back!
Didn't really care for it seeing the staff was not friendly especially when I was chatting about the history of the place and they ignored. Food wasn't great. Limited time going there and wasn't impressed how I was treated by the staff for first time going there. Business 101 make a good first impression which I didn't see on my part from the staff. Sorry the truth hurts seeing I'm extremely open about my personal experience. Improve on your attitude next time with a new customer.
Everything we ordered was tasteless and not memorable. The girl serving us was attentive and polite. I don't think we will come here again
Me and my family ate here earlier today and were highly dissatisfied with the food it took them 5 minutes to get our food out of the kitchen which is a little too quick for me the orange juice was warm and only took one sip and ordered a Pepsi instead they still charged me for the orange juice which set my bill up another 6 bucks. EDIT: After I got an answer (I know it was a while ago this establishment responded) but I think I may have to clear it up that the orange juice was very warm like it had been sitting out for a while and I don’t know how long it was sitting out of the fridge for because after just 1 hour bacteria starts to grow in the juice and it can make you sick so like any normal person would we ordered different drinks but yet they still made us pay for orange juice that could’ve made us sick(not saying it would’ve but there was a chance)
