Genial.
Located on the beautiful seafront at Altea, this restaurant was superb! We had two fussy kids with us but the chicken and chips they did were phenomenal and huge portion sizes. The tapas was beautiful and I highly recommend the garlic prawns and also the baked camembert. If I had one gripe it was that we were sat slightly on a slope. Other than that, everything was excellent and it server was very attentive.
Such an amazing experience! We chose menu of the day, 20€/ person. Salads were great and so were croquetas. and And I have eaten the best prawns ever. Really big and tasty. All of our plates were huge and full of food. A big surprise were...fries 😀 because in many places I have been fries were like nothing special. Not here - one of the best I have ever tried 💪. And apple pie with cream - yummy. Service was great. Thank you for having us 💛
A great place for lunch! We got the shareable fried seafood plate with a bunch of assorted fish, the cuttlefish sandwiches, the grilled cuttlefish meal, and burger. The cuttlefish sandwiches were really delicious, and probably enough for a whole meal. The pina coladas were also very good.
A great place for classic Spanish tapas , meals & snacks plus drinks & of course a really good cup of coffee ! The vibe of the casa is relaxed & informal & it's decor is an eclectic mix of rustic / classic Spanish & some quirky & interesting art pieces , plus some humorous & light hearted pictures dotted around the upstairs dining area . The casa has a good location on the seafront promenade & offers good views of the sea & beach from it's dining & drinks alfresco terrace . The service here is polite & friendly & although the casa is in such a beautiful location the prices for food & drinks are modest ! . There's plenty of seating outside on the terrace , weather permitting & the seating area upstairs is a cosy more intimate setting & would suit those perhaps on a romantic night out , or a small group of friends as it's not overly big . The casa also has a glass covered conservatory style seating area also , which is heated in the winter months with some flame effect pillar style heaters , & it all adds to the cosy intimate atmosphere of the casa . The coffee here is of a very good standard & it's a full continental style roast & strong enough to take a drop of milk without losing any flavour , & to my taste . The food here is traditional as before mentioned & cooked fresh to order & very well presented & the prices are modest considering the quality of food on offer . The drinks prices are modest here & they have a good selection of local & international spirits , plus beer on tap & some quality local Spanish wine's either by the glass or bottle plus soft drinks . The restobar casa del mar is very popular with locals & tourists alike & should you visit I'm sure you will enjoy the casa experience as it is something a little bit special ! A must place visit those who enjoy quality food & good service & all @ sensible cost in such a beautiful location . Can only recommend . I HOPE THEY CONTINUE TO DO WELL ! .
If you want to have the best 'Altea seaside experience', this place is highly recommended. Tasty house made traditional Spanish food for a friendly price. Staff is really nice and professional, and the restaurant is tiny but cosy decorated. Keep in mind that it is quite a busy restaurant, so possible that you have to wait a few minutes for a table on sunny days. Their straightfoward but well executed tapas (but also full fledged meals are an option) are a well kept secret among locals. Combined with the beautiful location with seaside view, the Spanish chatting of other customers around you and the warm Spanish sun, makes this an excellent place to enjoy a good time with friends and family, complemented by a few drinks and some nice bites.
There's so many restaurants to choose from along the promenade here you really are spoiled for choice. If you want some down to earth well cooked fresh food then I would highly recommend this place…
Lovely authentic Spanish cafe/restaurant. The service was top notch. The food came out really quickly and hot. Very reasonable prices too

The waitress is very friendly and attentive. The food is delicious. We went for dinner and enjoyed it so much we returned for breakfast the next day. Really nice setting in front of the beach.

Nice place by the beach boulevard. Food was not as good as I expected but the only place I could find almejas and poquerones fritos. Gambas al ajillo was really good here.
Excellent crossaint. Stairs to toilets a bit tight if your not too mobile. Great view out to sea. Staff pleasant.
Casa Mar del Altea Restobar is a decent spot for dining in the charming town of Altea, Spain. Situated in a lovely location, it provides a comfortable atmosphere that is perfect for a casual meal. The menu offers a variety of dishes, and while the food is okay, it doesn't stand out as particularly special. If you're looking for culinary innovation or unique flavors, this might not be the place to find them. However, if you're in the mood for straightforward and familiar dishes, Casa Mar del Altea can meet those expectations. The prices are average for the area, making it an accessible option for those who want to enjoy a meal without breaking the bank. You get what you pay for, and in this case, it's a fair deal for the quality and portion sizes offered. The service at Casa Mar del Altea is satisfactory. The staff is polite and attentive enough to ensure your needs are met, but don't expect anything beyond the standard service experience. While the restaurant doesn't leave a lasting impression in terms of food or service, it's a reliable choice if you find yourself in Altea and want a no-fuss dining option. Overall, Casa Mar del Altea Restobar provides a neutral yet pleasant experience that fits well into an ordinary day out.

Worst experience of our two months in Spain. Poor service, tastless food. We were going to order two starters and an entree. We ordered gambas ajillio and chicken wings to be safe. You can't screw those up--based on our experience at our last two destinations, Madrid and San Sebastian. The gambas were absolutely tastless, served in dish of oil and garlic slices. Even the oil was bland, hard to believe with all the garlic in it. We salt and peppered it to give it some flavor. The chicken wings were overcooked and bland served some kind of super sweet sauce. Our severs never welcomed us skilled or checked to see how we were doing. One server for a dozen outdoor tables will do that. We flagged him down and asked for a lemon wedge to give the gambas a little flavor. He nodded, and never returned. We decided not to order an entree and cut our losses. A bottle of rose and two starters 48 euros. How this place has 4 plus stars is amazing. Altea has many great restaurants, this isn't one of them.
Food was generally good, although a few dishes were a bit questionable - not quite the flavours we expected and some felt lacking. Unfortunately, the service really let the experience down. The waiter was very rude and dismissive, especially when I simply asked for the bill. On top of that, several items from the menu were unavailable. Overall disappointing, which is a shame as the food had potential.

Mala experiencia.
Disappointing Food Experience at a Beautiful Spot – Casa del Mar, Altea Stopped by Casa del Mar during a day in Altea, drawn in by the stunning seaside view and chilled-out vibe. The location is absolutely perfect for relaxing with a drink and watching the sea—but unfortunately, the food was a major letdown. It all started oddly with some crackers served alongside our drinks, which we quickly realized were old and past expiry—a very bad first impression. Then came the croquettes, which were clearly frozen and reheated. They were edible, but nothing special in taste or texture. The grilled octopus dish followed, and it was perhaps the most disappointing plate of the day. It lacked seasoning entirely, and was paired with a bland mashed potato that felt like an afterthought rather than a complement. Lastly, the garlic prawns, a classic tapas that’s hard to mess up, arrived swimming in oil. The prawns were soggy, and the flavor was completely overwhelmed. It felt rushed, greasy, and lifeless—which summed up most of the food experience here. To be clear, this place is not suitable for dining, especially if you’re looking for fresh or quality local food. It felt like a textbook tourist trap—amazing views, but underwhelming and overpriced food. That said, the bar has a decent seaside atmosphere for a drink if you’re just looking to relax and enjoy the view. For a cocktail or a quick cerveza, it might still be worth a visit. But for a meal? I’d strongly recommend exploring other nearby spots where quality is taken seriously.
