A must go to SriLankan place in SoCal. Authentic, tastefully priced to make you try more, delicious and must eat variety (and has pork options too)… my favorites are Lamprais, Egg Hopper and the String Hopper Kottu… they have a quaint but well appointed table space to sit and enjoy as well.
Delicious Sri Lankan food. We tried biriyani, lumprice and hoppers. We visited there during the weekend and it was bit busy around 1pm. We had to wait for about 30 min for our food. But it was worth the wait, since the food was really yummy. Everything was nicely presented. Staff is friendly.
Authentic mouthwatering Sri Lankan dishes. Just the right amount of spices that will take you through an unforgettable culinary journey. Tried rice and curry, lump rice, and chicken biryani and so difficult to select my favorite. You have to try their rice and curry with pork and chicken biryani!
Authentic Sri Lankan food. Spice level was authentic but tolerable even for my 6yr old. Basically Sri Lankan home cooking style - full of flavor and enjoyable to the whole family/universal. We drove 1.5 hours from San Diego to specifically try this restaurant and it was totally worth the drive! The location is right next to Disneyland resort and many hotels, the next time we drive here we will plan a day for sure. Great portion sizes. We had chicken lunch packet, chicken lumprais, egg hoppers, beef string hopper kottu, watalappam, for lunch and then packed shorteats (rolls, cutlets, patties) to go. The 'shorteats' freeze well. We also got an extra chicken curry, but we didn't need it at all (so we packed it to go). The lunch packets we got came with a great portion of meat in it. Prices are very reasonable. They had my favorite Sri Lankan soda - elephant house Cream Soda!
excellent Sri Lankan food. Only good authentic Sri Lankan food available in orange county. Main Chef Sandya is well experienced. Love their sea food dishes
I found that this Sri Lankan restaurant have the most delicious vegan options. This is my kind of food, people! There is no meat substitute used like in other vegan restaurants or non-vegan restaurants with vegan options. They use all kind of vegetables, fruits, or nuts like green beans, beetroot, jackfruit, pumpkin, bread fruit, eggplants, mango, cashews etc. to lotus roots. They are very creative to make each vegetable to be a curry or sambol and yet each dish tastes different than the other. Also on the plus side, they are all gluten free(at least those what I have eaten). I like it so much that I hired them to cater for my birthday party. I received the best catered party with top quality service. I didn't expect it came with table decorations and a birthday greeting to me. What an awesome idea! It went BEYOND my expectations. My vegan friends were so impressed with the taste and quality of the food. If you go to their restaurant you will find that they have 6 - 7 different choices to have with savory rice each day. The person who help you usually knows which items are vegan. I usually have the Lunch Packet plate with rice and 5 different curries. Each day they will change menu and different kind of vegan options are available. So I really never have the exact same plate twice. They usually put papadam with each Lunch Packet. Their Hopper is also vegan if you order with no eggs.
Every time I visit Rice & Spice SriLankan Cuisine, I walk away with a truly great experience. The food is absolutely authentic, perhaps even more delicious than what you'd find in Sri Lanka itself! It tastes like genuine homemade cuisine, with so many varieties of flavorful dishes and rich curries to choose from. The service is just as impressive. The staff are professional, friendly, and incredibly attentive. Their curiosity and care for each customer really stand out. They personalise the experience, making you feel genuinely valued. It's clear they focus on building trust and loyalty, which keeps me coming back again and again. This is the kind of place that turns first-time visitors into regulars. Highly recommended for anyone who wants real Sri Lankan taste and exceptional service!
We ordered number 2 and 3, both are authentic Sri Lankan food with big portion. The staff is friendly also! Definitely recommended.
Amazing selection of food and treats. Highly recommend for taste of Sri Lankan food
🇱🇰 SRI LANKA Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles: Lamprais are a complex cacophony of ingredients, based around rice and wrapped in a banana leaf for cooking. The chicken lamprais ($13.49) is a packet that also contains a hard-boiled egg, sambol made with fried shrimp, eggplant, and pineapple curry. The meat has been marinated for what seems like forever, and the rice is simmered in broth, a combination that gives you such different pleasures with each bite.
Delicious and Authentic food, excellent service, calm atmosphere. We enjoyed the food and taste is something unique.
They ask for a tip up front. I think this is wrong for a restaurant where you get your own plastic fork, spoon and napkin and also clean after yourself. Again, I think that is wrong and it annoyed me quite a bit. That said, the food was good enough, I’m giving them five stars. The food was flavorful, spicy, and unique. The desserts and drinks were great as well.
Rice N' Spice the restaurant in Anaheim California is just fantastic they have a wide variety of delicious srilankan food Dishes The restroom was super clean which i always check before eating anywhere 😄 I noticed many customers from different countries enjoying their meals, showing how popular this place is. They serve fresh food really quickly, so you won't have to wait long. Rice 'N Spice definitely gets a million stars from me ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! Keep it up, Rice 'N Spice! You're doing an amazing job! 😍🥇
Simple restaurant with limited seating. Incredibly flavorful food. My first time enjoying Sri Lankan cuisine and I was so impressed. There are many vegan/vegetarian options. I got the hoppers (an appam style crepe with 3 side dishes) with an eggplant curry, coconut sambol and dal. I wish my trip here was longer so that I could return and try more items!
From the moment you walk in, the service stands out. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can feel the pride they take in serving every table. What makes it even more special is how involved the owner—who is also the chef—is. That level of hands-on commitment really shows in both the consistency and quality of the food. It’s clear this isn’t just a business—it’s a passion. Now, the food: • Kottu – Simply outstanding. Perfectly chopped, well-seasoned, and packed with bold Sri Lankan spices. The texture and balance of flavors were spot on—comforting yet vibrant. • Lamprais (Lump Rice) – A true highlight. Beautifully wrapped and full of rich, layered flavors. The rice, curry, sambol, and sides come together in a way that feels authentic and thoughtfully prepared. The presentation is also impressive. Each dish is plated with care, colorful, and inviting—showing that attention to detail goes beyond just taste. Overall, Rice n Spice delivers on authenticity, service, and heart. It’s always inspiring to see an owner-chef so dedicated alongside a hardworking team that clearly cares about every guest experience. Much love from Oregon ❤️
4.7/5 ### Rice N' Spice: A Burst of Sri Lankan Magic in Anaheim Hidden away on Euclid Street in Anaheim, just minutes from Disneyland, Rice N' Spice stands as Orange County's sole beacon of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine—a cozy, unpretentious spot that's been delighting adventurous eaters since its opening. The vibe is welcoming and lived-in, with colorful murals evoking tropical Colombo vibes, a handful of tables for dine-in, and a focus on takeout that makes it ideal for picnics or post-park feasts. Open most days from noon until evening (with a couple of midweek closures), it's the kind of place where the aroma of curry leaves and banana leaves wafts out the door, pulling you in like a siren's call. Prices are refreshingly fair—entrees hover around $10-16—and the menu's emphasis on fresh, spice-forward dishes ensures every visit feels like a mini-vacation to the Indian Ocean island. But let's talk about what truly steals the show: the lamprais, a masterful bundle of flavors that's become my obsession. At $15 for the chicken version, it's essentially a portable feast wrapped in a steamed banana leaf, infusing everything with an earthy, subtle smokiness. Unfurl it to reveal tender, fall-apart chicken simmered in a fragrant coconut curry, vibrant yellow rice cooked in broth for that perfect fluffy-yet-sticky texture, a creamy hard-boiled egg, tangy eggplant curry, sweet-and-sour pineapple curry that cuts through the richness, and crispy fried shrimp sambol for a salty, textural pop. Each component is meticulously balanced—bold spices like turmeric, cinnamon, and cardamom mingle without overwhelming, while the sweetness from the pineapple adds a tropical lift that dances on your palate. It's not just tasty; it's a symphony of contrasts: creamy against crunchy, savory against sweet, all in one handheld package. I've tried the beef variation too, where the meat's deeper savoriness amps up the umami, but the chicken's lighter profile keeps it endlessly craveable. Pro tip: Heat it at home for that fresh-off-the-grill warmth; it freezes beautifully for impromptu dinners. Beyond the lamprais, the menu tempts with hoppers (those lacy, bowl-shaped rice flour crepes) perfect for scooping up fiery sambal, or kottu roti for a stir-fried noodle-like thrill. Desserts like watalappan, a jaggery-coconut custard, provide a silky finish, and the Sri Lankan iced coffee is a spiced revelation. Service is warm and knowledgeable—staff like head chef Sandya share sourcing stories with genuine pride, making you feel like family. With a 4.6/5 on Restaurant Guru from hundreds of raves, it's no wonder this gem has loyalists driving from all over SoCal. If you're tired of the usual Thai or Indian spots and yearning for something uniquely soul-warming, Rice N' Spice's lamprais will transport you straight to Sri Lanka. It's more than a meal; it's pure, unadulterated joy on a leaf. Can't wait for my next packet!
Had a wonderful meal. Each different dishes made with care. Authentic Sri Lankan food. And wonderful warm and welcoming customer service. It was totally home like feeling. I had one of the best Kottu. Highly recommended if you want to feel original Sri Lankan food.
Hidden gem. Fell in love with Sri Lanka food but it’s difficult to find here in the states. Rice N Spice appears to be the only one in SoCal and all the dishes I had especially chicken biryani were amazing. Friendly owner and clean environment as well! Can’t wait to come back soon!
Absolutely amazing authentic Sri Lankan food! The flavors are spot on and truly remind me of home. As a chef myself, I can honestly say the quality and authenticity here are outstanding. Chef Sandya is incredible — she prepares every dish with care and passion, and it really shows in the taste. The service is excellent, warm, and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for real Sri Lankan cuisine, this is the place. Highly recommend!
Food was excellent in every way. I was driving back to San Francisco after going to Disneyland and stopped by for lunch. I asked them to make things mild for my daughter who can’t handle spicy food. Please note that this is primarily a take out space with around 5 tables for sit down. The food was so good that I even bought separate take out order. I will be back the next time I am in town.
Was honestly blown away by this food! I have never had Sri Lankan food before and don't know how I have been missing this my whole life. 100% ordering again next time I'm in town!
Best Sri Lankan food in SoCal. We have been coming here ever since they opened and whenever we are in the area. That’s at least 3 times a year. They are yet to disappoint us with the authentic Sri Lankan taste and hospitality. They have many different Sri Lankan options to choose from that’s true to taste. I highly recommend the traditional rice and curry, and the hoppers. Do give them a try for great Sri Lankan flavor in a casual setting.
Amazing, authentic food. I'm so happy i found this in driving distance. Five of us visited and ordered: Kottu, Lamprais, Hoppers, egg hoppers, pol roti, godamba roti, rice & curry, ice coffee, wattalappam. All were great. Chicken kottu was really good. Godamba roti was hot & soft. No complaints. I'll keep coming every few weeks.
This is one of the best Sri Lankan restaurant I had tried so far. We had our lunch today at this place. We tried biriyani, Hoppers and string hoppers. Must try…Delicious food for reasonable price. The place was nice and clean. The person who took our orders was very friendly.
Delicious and authentic Sri Lankan food. I opted for the vegetarian and jack fruit was a good alternative with the Pol Roti combo. I see myself coming back here and trying out more of their options. Highly recommend Rice N Spice.
Our first time trying this restaurant. The place was clean, inviting ambiance and the staff were friendly. Most importantly, the food was amazing, flavorful and perfectly spiced. Highly recommended!
I can't believe there is such amazing Sri Lankan food just right outside of Disneyland for amazing prices. I've had Sri Lankan here in California only a handful of times and this spot is easily the best I've had in my life (so far). Their menu is vast with a lot of different proteins and sides included, and you get to pick how you eat them (think of it like a carb of choice). I was thrilled to see so many vegan, plant-based options here to choose from, so this was a hard decision. We ultimately decided on #6) Pal Roti Combo and #19) String Hoppers, both with veggie curries and spicy coconut sambal. Each was priced at $16 and let me tell you, it came with a lot of food. The coconut roti was delicious and coupled well with the curry, jackfruit, and sambal. The rice noodle patties were such a fun way to enjoy everything as well, almost like a chip or tortilla. Everything tasted great, had an awesome kick, and filling. While the ambiance inside isn't amazing, it's still a comfortable spot to dine in and enjoy some fabulous and unique South Asian island cuisine. I am so ready to come back again and try more of their dishes because everything was just A+. -- Funny enough, I had this twice in one day. I was attending a friend's wedding party and he ordered the same food from here for my vegan friendly meal.
Flavour bomb that’s what it was 👍🏽👌🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Thank you so much for giving us such a nourished meal 💕😃 Also the service was so friendly.

A hidden gem. Not a lot of places to find Sri Lankan cuisine, let alone one with good flavors and decent pricing. Only other note is that the food is tad spicy for those who prefer no spice at all--it does live up to its name.
We are visitors to Anaheim. We are Sri Lankan expats living in New Zealand. We have visited many Sri Lankan restaurants throughout the world.during our travels. During our stay in Anaheim we had an opportunity have two meals. Both were excellent and of very high quality. We can confidently say this restaurant is one of the best outside Sri Lanka to taste Sri Lankan cuisine for a good price. Sri Lanka is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world. According to Tourism sources this popularity is related to people, scenery, beaches, history and cuisine. If you haven't been to Sri Lanka and would like to taste sample of unique cuisine visit this restaurant. You wouldn't be disappointed Thank you owners and staff. We enjoyed your food
One of best restaurants I have ever tried! Everything is halal here. Service is 10/10 and food is 10/10. The only thing I didn't like about this restaurant is they are in Anaheim not in San Francisco bay area because I am from there. Wish they had a restaurant there too! Please open a restaurant in Bay area 🙏 thanks a lot for the best service!
We have been to other restaurants but this one stood out to us! The employees were very friendly, and they had the best Sri Lankan food! We are definitely coming back!

Ummmm. A good little place don’t get me wrong. I think we came at a wrong time, the restaurant was making a large take order and was backed up, and as result, had to wait an age for food. When it did come, it was certainly as authentic as the food I had in Sri Lanka. The service was super friendly, but in my option, not ready for massive orders or a quick influx of people, if your patient and come at a good time, I have no doubt you’ll love what they have to offer.
Nice clean establishment with about 15 seats. Sri Lanka has a distinct flavor profile in their dishes, so one should definitely give it a try when feeling adventurous. Portions r big n spicy. mild is an option but must remember to ask for it. Enjoy...

I recently visited Rice N’ Spice, and it offered a flavorful introduction to Sri Lankan and South Asian cuisine in the Anaheim area. The restaurant has a casual and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the comfort-food nature of the dishes being served. The dining space is simple and relaxed, allowing guests to focus primarily on the vibrant spices and traditional preparations that define the cuisine. Sri Lankan cooking is known for its complex spice blends and layered flavors, and many of the dishes here highlight those characteristics. Ingredients such as curry leaves, coconut, chili, and aromatic spices appear throughout the menu, creating dishes that carry warmth, depth, and balanced heat. The rice and curry combinations are particularly representative of traditional Sri Lankan meals, where multiple small dishes come together to create a harmonious plate. One of the highlights of the meal was the variety of curries available. Each curry offered a slightly different flavor profile depending on the spice blend and cooking method used. Some leaned toward creamy coconut-based sauces, while others emphasized more robust chili and spice-forward flavors. When paired with rice, these dishes created a well-rounded and satisfying meal. Another strength of the restaurant is the use of traditional side dishes that help balance the curries. Items such as vegetable preparations and sambal-style condiments added brightness and contrast to the richer dishes. These components play an important role in Sri Lankan cuisine by introducing acidity, freshness, and texture. Service during the visit was friendly and efficient. Staff members maintained a welcoming attitude and helped guide diners who may be less familiar with Sri Lankan cuisine. The pacing of the meal felt comfortable and well suited to the casual dining format. The atmosphere reflects the character of a neighborhood restaurant where the emphasis is on authentic flavors and satisfying portions rather than elaborate presentation. It is the type of place where diners can explore traditional dishes in a relaxed environment. Overall, Rice N’ Spice delivers a satisfying Sri Lankan dining experience with bold spices, comforting rice and curry combinations, and friendly service. It stands out as a strong option for anyone interested in exploring Sri Lankan flavors in the Anaheim area.
Very casual restaurant and friendly service. Got the rotti and it was fine, but it was pretty spicy even though I asked for mild. The chicken was mostly bone and not a lot of edible parts. The best thing was this yellow curry rice thing. Prices were fair and food presentation was nice. My only complaint was there wasn't much meat at all The watalappan dessert was pretty good.
I loved eating here before so I drove 40min on a toll road to eat here again. Their bathroom was so dirty, there were so many visuals that disturbed my appetite and entire experience.. please don’t get comfortable with not keeping your toilet clean. Toilet tells a lot of the sanitation around kitchen also.

We worked with this restaurant for over 7 months to cater my sister’s rehearsal dinner. After multiple conversations and trying the food many times, we finalized the menu, logistics, and all the details. Then suddenly—they stopped responding to calls and messages. When we finally got through to someone, we were told they were not going to do it. What’s worse, they had no plan to even notify us. We only found out because we kept pushing for a response. This was a little over a month before the event, leaving us scrambling with no backup plan. This is completely unprofessional and incredibly disappointing after so much time and effort put into planning. A word of warning: do not rely on them for catering.
