Good food, great specials, kids meals come with dessert! I like their pizza, hubby hated his bloody Mary, but not a big deal. Nice staff.

The pit beef is delicious. Prices are moderate. 10-15 bucks for burgers. Expect to pay $5 or more for a beer.

Delicious food with a unique menu selection. If you love fish tacos go here!!!!!! They were absolutely amazing.

Been here a couple times and the food is outstanding. Get what they are known for like their different pit sandwiches and homemade fries. The sandwiches are huge, awesome, and filling.. tons of meat. One person in our party ordered the fish and chips and, though they said the fish was good, you only got 2 small-ish pieces.. Apps were great. Service was adequate. I'll be going back many times.

I love this place. The best happy hour there is. Half off drinks and select appetizers, but not just moz sticks and french fries. The walleye bites and pit tacos are my favorite, and I can get both for under $10. The service is always great and the staff is very friendly. The weekend brunch is very good too, each breaksfast comes with a free mimosa. They also have a great tap beer selection. Valley tap is by far the best bar/grill in AV.

My manliness comes out whenever I go and eat here! The authentic East coast barbecue is always delicious, and cooked to perfection. Inside has wood lining that sets the perfect mood to get manly and eat some meat. Looking for good BBQ? Here it is.

I love the beer selection! The food is awesome. The regular menu is great as well as the brunch menu. Although I wish the brunch menu was available more than just the weekends from 10-3.

I would say that the food generally rates 3-4. Service overall has been good. Unfortunately, i feel that the tap beer selection has gone down hill the last few years. But, still pretty good. Try the rueben.

Food is pretty good for what I was expecting from a restaurant seeming to want to be a steakhouse. Couple vegetarian options including veggie burger, caprese sandwich, grilled cheese, and a mac and cheese. Staff is generally very nice but maybe somewhat distracted at times. My date loved her salad with strawberries, apples, and nuts.

Good happy hour. Food comes in large portions and is pretty good, depending on what you get. Service is decent, but if it's a slow or very busy night it's poor.

Okay ask me 6 months ago would have told you worse service I've ever had at bar They made some changes and Nathan has been nothing but atentative to all customer. They no longer short staff bar now. They actually notice when drink is empty. Hope they keep up for the summer. Never liked waiting for inside bartender to try to bartender both bars.

Best tap beer selection in Apple Valley, MN. The Southwest Chicken Salad & walleye bites are great. I would have given 5 stars if they hadn't done away with their hamburger lunch special.

Just like Lyndale Tap House, great food and atmosphere. There is a great selection of beers and good happy hour prices. The service is kind of hit or miss, but it's not enough to stop me from going.

Valley Tap has great fries, fun atmosphere, and mouth watering pit beef sandwiches. It's our choice for happy hour.

We went there for Easter brunch. It was good not great. Most of the food was good. They had some macaroni dish that was not good at all. They put out a new one which they said would be better but it tasted the same. I wish they would have labels on some of the items so we would have known what they were. The serving tables were a little messy. The huge caramel roll they gave us was fabulous. The service was great. We have liked the food we order there other times.

The atmosphere is nice, and the food is good! The portions are huge, so I suggest sharing or you'll have left overs. They have usually have something good on the beer menu, but it seems lacking sometimes. Overall a good place to grab dinner or a drink! The appetizers are very good.

Nice place and easy to get to. Was treated there by the 'rents as a belated holiday dinner. I had their mussels and they had a really nice chipotle-spiced sauce with it. The mother had the walleye fingers which you really can't go wrong with. I had a bite and the batter was light and crispy. Dad had a chicken sandwich which I imagine was just fine. The atmosphere was decent. It was a Friday around 4:00pm or so. The bar area got pretty busy and loud for those who want to enjoy a festive happy hour. The dining room was completely different. Nice and quiet for those who like that atmosphere instead. I'd come back.

I have very mixed feelings about this establishment. On one hand, they have an excellent beer selection. One of the best south of the river. There is one bartender there who is always friendly, personable, and funny. He's the big dude. The food is exactly what you'd expect from a beer joint like that, good, but not GREAT. Free taco night is also a plus. On the other hand, I've had bartenders there who was just downright terrible. The patio is nice, but the bartender made it his priority to sit and mingle with his friends, all the while neglecting everyone else. Another bartender made an EXTREMELY rude comment to a girl I was with about her breast size. I am going to give this bar another chance, simply based on the good beer and the cool 'big guy' bartender.

We came for brunch, the biscuits and gravy was a huge portion, and spicy. .....really spicy. The eggs Benedict was awesome and Hashbrowns best I have ever had!!! The staff was great! We never waited or wanted anything. I just wish they would have notified us that there was so much white pepper type spice on the sausage and biscuits.

I want this place to be great, plenty of draft beer and great menu. Service is good at best. Management might need be rehired, pit beef is awesome, but sometime the portions vary. I prefer getting served by the bartender vs the wait staff. Even thou the short male tender is a duche!

J

Service is hit or miss. Drink selection is okay, and food is okay. Great patio out back during summer, and trivia on Tuesday nights is fun with friends, but the food and drink isn't anything that will blow your hair back.

I adore this place, never gotten any bad service. The food is fantastic especially during brunch weekends. The scenery here is not bad either. Good place to eat and enjoy some nice cold beer.

The Bloody Mary was decent but nothing noteworthy. The walleye with the fish and chips was good, fries a bit on the limp side. Girlfriend enjoyed the fish tacos. Service was friendly, good and food was served quite fast. Nice patio.

Isn't as good as it was a few years back...Poor service and the place just smelled bad. But - a bright spot is the turtle bacon popcorn. This stuff is great!

L
Lois Leutz

We did love this place but last time we went they'd deleted some of our very fav items from the menu! For example no more of the wonderful creamy fish soup, no mussels, and no beet salad, which was delicious. We may go back for happy hour but forget dinner.

M
Molly Zimmerman

The "pretzels" we ordered were reheated bread sticks with salt on them and cold on the inside... the dipping sauces they gave us were horrible! If you want pretzels, REAL freshly made pretzels, with beer cheese dip, go to Granite City. I'll never go to this place again.

Like many have posted before, I really wanted this place to be good. It really does have potential. I have been several times. Usually because friends are there and Panino's is too busy, but I digress. The food has never disappointed. The beer selection and price definitely holds it's own against local competition. The atmosphere is hit or miss. Sometimes you get annoying club music from some lame DJ, sometimes the crowd controls the jukebox and the tunes just flow organically. But I can't really complain about that because everyone has their preference. What I can complain about, and I will, is how terrible the service can be. Bob above said it right. The short bartender, Mike I believe is his name, IS A DOUCHE! He ignores the male patrons, forgets your drink order(note singular) 10 seconds after you give it, and on one occasion, charged me twice than cussed under his breath when I brought it up. Ended up having to sort it out over the phone the next day because, surprise, Mike was too busy ignoring me for the females he wanted to hand free drinks out to. I wouldn't usually base my impression of service off of one person, but he tends to set the standard for some of the others. I've also heard the place is great when he's not around, so either demote him to days or get rid of him and I would be here monthly.

Went for the first time with wife and 2 y.o. son. Staff was great, friendly, and understanding when junior was a wee cranky from the get go. My wife and I both ordered pit beef sandwiches. The flavor was good but the meat was super tough and stringy...had to cut it with a fork and knife. Ordered the mac and cheese for the wee one. It was bland but he liked it so whatever. One of the options with the kids meal is roasted vegetables. Sounds great until they give you a small bowl of peppers and onions. I'm not sure if there's a kid alive who wants peppers and onions with their mac and cheese...guess not many people order veggies with their kids meals. Mom and dad put the peppers and onions on their sandwiches. Pretty good! Decent beer list and good happy hour specials. Some pluses but not impressed with their signature dish or the kids meal. Might try it again.

I have been here a number of times. Food is generally good. Today service is a little lackluster. Different guy than the normal young gal that usually is pretty friendly. He seems more concerned talking to his buddy down known the end. Have had a credit card out since he filled my beer and almost empty. No tab yet. He disappeared for about 15-20 min. Overall happy and the deals are why I come here. Otherwise I would not pay the premium for this lack of attention to detail.

This was our first visit. I thought my Hot Italian Sandwich was good. It was rich, filling and huge. My girlfriend had Fish and Chips. She felt the fish was greasy and there was too many French fries and not enough fish. When I told her the place was known for pit beef she said she probably ordered the wrong thing. We sat at the bar outside and we both felt the service was ok but slow. Considering it was 7pm on a Friday and the weather was very nice, there was only one bartender working and she vanished a couple times. I am fairly sure we will try The Valley again but I also think we will have a watchful eye on the service (which you should not have to do).

Used to be a lot better. Lunch special isn't what it used to be, and the turkey club had what tasted like store-bought deli meat (overly salty). Rather disappointed; they were a solid five star a few years back. Gets three stars mostly for the chili.

Atmosphere is very good and so is the service. Happy hour 2 for one on beer is great. Other than the street tacos though, I struggle to find greatness in their food quality.

Good rotating beer selection and the food is pretty good. Nice outdoor patio where you can see TVs from some places. The first few times I liked this place quite a bit but haven't been feeling it lately. Prefer Lyndale Tap House, Uptown.

Daniel “Dark Shepherd” Smith Sr

Ordered the fish and chips at around $17. Fish undercooked inside, overcooked outside, coleslaw runny and no flavor, fries overcooked outside and raw inside. Not impressed... 2 stars because waitress was very organized and kind.

C

We made reservations thinking since it was NYE it would be busy and it wasn't. So after ordering drinks and apps we were brought decently cooked chicken wings but over baked salty pretzels. Thought it was bad that the pretzels were over baked which led to the belief they weren't fresh and just re heated in the oven or someone doesn't know how to bake properly. Not going to be our first choice to go to on any night if even apps aren't made well.

R
Randy Ulland

Onion rings definitely. Pork pit sandwich chewy. And cold i saw it sitting waiting for someone to bring it to us for 6 minutes. My drink tasted like chemicals for the glass cleaner.Come for the rings only reason i gave 2 stars.

If you're looking for an expensive meal of grease with a side of beef, this is the place for you! Our first meal there was our last, thanks to a pair of burgers that were sodden with grease and service that didn't get our order right. Next time we're looking for a burger, we'll do Wendy's. Cheaper, faster, and leaner beef.

C
Cole Duckworth

Disliked the food. I tried a pit burger and a regular burger neither of which i enjoyed. However there 2 for 1s were nice and darts were fun. They also offer pull tabs if thats your thing.

One of our local favorites!! Great craft beer tap list, super Blood Mary bar, and good menu variety; the Thai Chicken Pizza and the Cobb salad (HUGE salads) are our favorites. The staff is very friendly and attentive. A great place to watch a game. Best patio in town! Recently, this restaurant/bar has hit the slides! The pizza grill oven has been broken for months, the food is atrocious (especially, the salads are TERRIBLE) and the service folks just don't seem to care. Chairs in the bar are missing footrests for months, the handle on the front door has been loose forever ... they just don't care as long as people keep buying beer. A real disappointment for the locals that used to love this place. What a waste of a great patio during the summer!! DO NOT waste your time and paycheck here!!

No wonder why this place can never keep in business! The Pickled Parrot was expensive, Majors wasn't major and this place feels like an urban dump in the suburbs. We went there after buying a Groupon coupon. We were there for happy hour and when we went to pay, the waitress said she would have to re-enter the whole check because with the coupon, you have to pay full price! The wings for an app were good, kind of an odd taste though, the pork sandwich we shared tasted like cold pork roll sliced with BBQ sauce, not good at all. Thanks to our unhelpful waitress, we paid the tab, vowing to come back and just use up the coupon. A few weeks later we did, we showed the waitress the coupon in advance so she could charge full price. Food was good, but we were charged double for the app, and with the cost of the coupon still spent as much as we did the first time! If you buy a $40 coupon for $20 it should be like cash, it should not have any limitations on them. It should be a way for a restaurant to welcome new customers, not another way to screw them!

Drove FORTY MINUTES to attend tonight's trivia night, only to be given the worst service I've experienced from a waiter/waitress. Upon entering the establishment, my wife and I sat with another couple, who we are friends with. When our waiter ( Sara S ) arrived to our table, I ordered a beer, which was exceptional and my wife ordered cheese curds, which were edible. Now usually, your waiter/waitress should come back to your table after the first sip/first few bites and ask how the food is, to make sure you are satisfied... we got none of that from our waitress. After my beer, I asked the waitress if I could order a mixed drink. She responded by rolling her eyes and saying, "well yea.." I asked our waitress if I could get a Jack Daniel's & Coke, the waitress didn't even acknowledge my request, she just walked away without a word. A few moments later, she came back with my drink. Let me just put this out there... Jack Daniel's and Coke is my favorite drink, so I know how it should taste and how it should be made.. it doesn't take an astronaut to be able to make this drink. Anyways, she came back with the drink, placed it on the table and walked away, again, without saying anything. After trying the first sip of my drink, it did not taste like Jack Daniel's & Coke, it only tasted like Jack Daniel's. At this point, I waited calmly until she made her way towards my table. When I asked her to add more Coke, she rolled her eyes, but took the drink, coming back after a short moment with the drink. After the second try, it now tasted like watered down Jack Daniel's, as if water was added to my drink. This time, I brought it to the bar tender and asked him to remake my drink because there didn't seem to be any Coke added in it, once my waitress heard me asking for a remake, she rudely said, "what, the first one wasn't good enough"? I didn't mind the issues with the taste of the drink as much as I minded how I was treated by my waitress, had her service been better, I wouldn't have made such a big deal about the drink. Like I said, my wife and I drove 40 minutes to have a fun night and a few drinks but instead we received by far the worst service out of all the restraunts/bars we visit. Was the food good? For the most part. Were the drinks good? For the most part. Was the service good? No, not at all. Will we be back? Not sure, probably not.

My husband and I went here twice. Once on a Sunday night, a little later probably closer to 8:30-9 pm, on my birthday (service and food was great, there also was like 5 tables total, so it was not busy at all.) and once today during the Vikings game. Initially it wasn't busy. Maybe 5 people at the bar, 4 tables in the hightop bar section and maybe 6 tables out on the patio, as well as a few in the restaurant area. With at least 6 servers, a hostess, and bartender it was well staffed. That being said, our service was AWFUL. We got our drinks as asked for MAYBE a couple minutes. 15 minutes later our server finally made it back to take our order. We got the pretzels as an app, and boy was that a HUGE mistake. They are hard chewy and dry, the thin soupy "cheese" sauce is awful as is their honey mustard. (If you don't like horseradish.) I agree with the previous poster, go to Granite City if you want better pretzels. Or a movie theater, or the freezer section at the grocery store for the ones you microwave at home, even those are better than the stuff they served us. Both times I loved their french fries, they are reminiscent of the State Fair fries! I got the Blistering Hipster burger, and I LOVE spicy food and it was too much for me to handle all at once. It was good though! As long as you don't mind crying and having to blow your nose 15 times, stop eating until the pain in your mouth subsides... (I don't mind.) I look forward to the leftovers, my husband was underwhelmed with the regular Tap House Burger with cheddar and ate less than half of it before giving up from trying to force feed himself. The patio doors were wide open, which posed another issue. Flies, bees, and wind blowing cigarette smoke in from the patio. Not what we wanted to deal with. We definitely would wait until a time of day they do NOT have those doors (They are sliding doors along the entire length of a wall, so the bar area is basically missing a wall.) wide open. My word of advice? Stick with the specialties, the pit beef and pit pork. I got the Thai one the time before and was blown away with how awesome it was and my husband got a different pit pork with coleslaw on it, and loved his. Do not expect stellar service, though there are some awesome servers. We tipped our first one $10 because of his attentiveness to our beverages, which seems to be an issue at most restaurants. Beware of the apps. I doubt we will ever buy another appetizer from there again.

FIRST: This could be an awesome restaurant. It's NOT... This comes down to only one thing: Management! Poor management is going to sink this ship.. The food can be great at times, though it is inconsistent most often. Service: The host staff seems to have NO direction and NO leadership. We have tried this restaurant MANY times and when we asked for a Manager to give a complaint, we were met with a manager that would do better running a bowling alley bar. NO MANNERS, NOT POLITE, and DID NOT care what had happened to us. Not likely to go back.. Can you say (Copper Bleu or Molly Cool's) If you'd like to try it, do it soon.. My guess is it won't be around much longer. Sadly... I think we are cursed south of the river (except: Perron's)... HELP US!!

C
Christopher Nichols

Horrible service! Horrible manager, extremley rude! Food Ok AT BEST. We went there on a Wednesday night a few weeks ago, myself, my parents, my sister and her husband and daughter. We arrived in two shifts and apparently it took awhile for my parents and sister to get their drink order taken. Took even longer to actually get the drinks. My brother in law and I ordered drinks... and gain a long wait to get them. When finally got our drinks we asked about ordering food but our waitress said she would be right back....another long wait. Finally we had our order taken. Drinks were 2 for 1 so we all had two and by this time were were either empty or almost there so we ordered another round. For the rest of the meal we simply ordered another round when they delivered the drinks, this is how long it took to get drinks as we were by no means slamming beers here. Food wise we had ordered an appetizer which never seemed like it was coming. When I asked the waitress about our app she said she would check and magically she returned right away with our now cold appetizer, thus the food starts out unimpressive. For the 3 year old we ordered the Mac N Cheese off of the kids menu. If you have a child DON'T order this unless your 3 year old has refined taste. It's simply a smaller version of their adult mac n cheese with smoked gouda in it. My niece was not eating it so we tried it, this one in fact not only had smoked gouda but whatever else they put in it was horrible, it was sour. My guess is they used bad cream or milk in it but it was absolutely bad. We brought up both points to the waitress she didn't seem to care. They did take it off of our bill eventually. Also did I forget to mention that it was about 97 degrees outside and while they only had some of the patio doors open basically it was about 85 degrees in the corner of the restaurant furthest from the patio and about 94 in the bar area. They need to take a serious look at the AC in this place, it was horrible in there. Then our first credit card of my parents was rejected. My mother gave another baffled by this and the second came back rejected. Both cards are clear and should have gone no problem. They then said the internet is down. So another 20 minutes goes by... we are now 3 hours into what should have been about an hour dinner max. We want to just leave but the manager has our credit card trying to run it. We go over to the bar where he is and this nimwit is just swiping the card over and over and over again. This guy was a piece of work.... I can't use the words I would like to describe the rudeness and attitude of this guy. They inform me that the internet is down adding that it's down in all of MN and has been most of the day. Yep real piece of work, you see I work on a computer on the internet and had been all day long including right up till I left a house in Apple Valley to drive to this place. I aske why not use the manual card reader and be done with it, they can't find it... guess you should look for it then. Again this guy bothered me to the point I will never go back. Oh by the way even with the "downed internet" they did get the card to go through but had to split it into 2 separate runs of half the amount each time for some reason. I won't be back, my parents won't be back, my sister's family won't be back. No apologies from the manager when we mentioned the horrible service and slowness, just more excuses. It's as if they just don't care. This is the 3rd or 4th restaurant to be in this building and I won't be sad at all if it has the same fate as the previous one's as it appears to be managed similar to the previous one's. There are other much better Non big chain restaurants in Apple Valley. My parents will be going back to their favorite and reliable Rascals and I'll be going back to my favorite Panino Brothers. I'd recommend Wild Bills over this place, service is far better.

N
Nathan Nielsen

Hard to enjoy this place when they keep running out of a lot of the popular beers. Then when asking the manager how they can be out of stock he said the owner won't let him buy more. I use to really enjoy this place but it looks like I am going to have to find another place to go.

J
Jessica Marlin

Service is horrible, food is edible but nothing special. We have given this place many chances since it opened, hoping the food and service will improve, but it never does. Today was the last straw, we stopped in for a week day lunch, we got there at noon. It took 10 minutes for the waitress to come to our table after we were seated, and we ordered our food then since we had an appointment in 50 minutes (yes, 50 minutes, we gave ourselves an hour for lunch). 10 minutes prior to our appointment, still no food, though other tables had theirs (and we ordered a burger and a grilled cheese, certainly nothing fancy). We flagged down the waitress to let her know we had an appointment and she went to "check" on the food. She never came back, so we had to track her down again to have her box it as we had to leave. So an hour and $50 later we didn't even get to eat our food at the restaurant, and by the time we did eat it at home, it was soggy and disgusting from being in the box. We will never go back there, it's not worth the frustration!

C
Caycee Auer

Bad service, terrible food. For example: we ordered an appetizer, and it arrived before our server had even returned to take our order. We ordered their specialty pit sandwiches, and the bun was visibly stale, the fries had been soaked in grease long enough to turn them brown, and the meat tasted undercooked. Not to mention the servers clearly didn't car about their jobs and the customers around the bar were screaming and shouting the entire time.

P
Patrick Bigler

Food is pretty good but the service is abysmal. I went here twice and both times i had to leave my table multiple times to go and order a drink or food from the bar sonce the wait staff was too busy or just not around even though the place was pretty empty. Less than half the tables were occupied each visit. Such a shame. Don't come here unless you don't mind waiting 20 minutes for your drink order to arrive. Getting 2 orders of drinks and an appetizer is a 1.5 or 2 hour ordeal.

A
Anna Nitz

Very disappointed with both the food and service tonight. My husband and I have had many pleasant experiences here before but after eating at the valley tap house tonight, I doubt we will return any time soon. It was slow and still took over an hour to get our food which was cold by the time it got to us and most of it was burnt. Very unimpressed with that staff. The cook was on his cell texting every time I looked at him and the one waiter/bar tender working seemed more concerned with the girls ordering drinks at the bar then coming to our table to see if we needed anything. I had to flag him down many times.. Over all extremely disappointed.

c

So disgusting-- Go somewhere else. Couldn't eat it- the fries tasted like they were day old and warmed --eew and to make it even worse there was hair in my husbands sandwich. The server tried to tell us it was fat from the meat...yea right!!-curly gray hair unmistakeable- we're Never going back and I highly advise you go elsewhere for your burger.
